Aaron had a great need of the isle’s greatest healer, the old woman Mareal. He sent his brother David and his secret team of men to find her. His father was failing fast. His need was great. While he was next in line to be laird, he didn’t want to lose his father.
David and his men found the granddaughters of Mareal. The old woman had passed to the light. David promised the girls he would bring them home with him if they would agree to heal his father.
Lucy and Lilly were taught at their grandmother’s knee all the skills of a great healer. They also inherited the gifts of their grandmother and late mother. Lucy had the gift of empathy, and Lilly was a psychic with the gift of sight.
Once healed, the old laird insisted the girls marry his sons to protect them Lilly is pledged to David and Lucy to Aaron, and they are wed.
Although Lilly and Lucy were reluctant to marry Aaron and David, they saw no way out. These women are not afraid of their big strong husbands. They would teach them that love and compassion can have its own rewards. These two sprites would capture the love of their new clan while garnering a few spankings for disregarding the rules. But disregarding the rules and letting her emotions rule leave Lucy kidnapped by the one person that means them harm. Putting not only her but her sister in harm’s way. Aaron and David must save her and remove the danger.
Well, I had a love hate relationship with this story. My first experience reading this author's work and my last. I was really enjoying the story about the twin healers until we were introduced to Aaron and his inner personality came to the for front. I was hoping at that point that he would get over his dominate thinking after he found Lucy the healer that he would fall in love with. This could have been a 5 star well written book if it wasn't for the disturbing punishment and brutality of the men and their need to control all of the girl's thoughts. I enjoyed 75% of the story and would have given it 5 stars for the romance and intimacy parts but the other 25% made me disgusted and it ruined the book for me. I did complete the book because I received this book free from Booksprout for my honest opinion. The plot was good and the twins were so likable because they were strong happy girls but getting switched with tree limbs and spanked I felt that kind of brutality would change a person personality no matter how much they loved a person. I have read Viking stories and they had spanking but this story had a mental element to it that bothered me.
The first book in the MacKinnon Series it mainly deals with Lucy and Aaron, David and Lilly, there is also the men's sister Ailis and Henry the man she loves, plus a very sick father who is loved by everyone. There is spanking, the sight, drama, and love. I want to read the next book. I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
