It’s the most wonderful time of the year… just don’t eat the cookies.
What is supposed to be a joy-filled awards ceremony for the Romero Boy Scouts turns out to be anything but when Jean Sartor, Scout co-leader, drops dead on stage.
Trixie lands herself on the suspect list since she baked Christmas cookies for the ceremony. Trixie knows she didn’t poison Jean, but someone has been very naughty – can she figure out who killed Jean?
Previously published in the Christmas Cookie Cozies anthology.
As a child, L.C. thought she would either be a truck driver (thanks to Jerry Reed in Smokey and the Bandit) or work at Taco Bell (her favorite restaurant as a child). As she grew older, she realized her talents lay in other areas, and for the last several years has been a college professor teaching business and English.
Through all her career choices, she has continued to have a passion for writing stemming from childhood, where, as an only child, she developed a vivid imagination.
She is proud of her vast experiences in life from barrel racing, to being on the dance team for a semi-pro basketball team, to being a mom of 2 amazing kids.
She decided to follow her dream as an author in 2009 and has worked her way up to having 5 fans (maybe 6 now). She often tells her family and friends that no one is safe from his or her ventures slipping into her books. She lives in Indiana with her husband, kids and two very spoiled dogs.
L.C. previously published her cozy mysteries under Laina Turner.
This Christmas mystery did provide some Christmassy atmosphere. The question of who could have murdered the married couple was interesting - to begin with, but I thought the ending so-so. The story is well-written and I finished it which is a clear credit to the author. There have been many other books this year that I didn't finish.
"Trixie lands herself on the suspect list since she baked Christmas cookies for the ceremony. Trixie knows she didn’t poison Jean, but someone has been very naughty – can she figure out who killed Jean?" This is a good mystery. I borrowed this book from KindleUnlimited. This in no way affects my opinion of this book.
Cookies and Crime: A Read Wine Bookstore Cozy Mystery Book 7
I received this book as an Arc from the author and I’m leaving a voluntary review. This is a very good read! There are a lot of twists and turns. When a Boy Scouts leader is murdered at an awards show, there are a lot of questions! Recommended
I must say, this was a compelling murder mystery! Trixie is on a quest to find out the truth about a murder and a missing person. But she might be putting herself in danger… A fascinating case, and I hadn’t expected that outcome! The case was wrapped up nicely.
Love these three women, owners of the coffee cafe; Trixie, Sally and Cora. They will do whatever it takes to help solve murders. Even though Clive, of the local police, wishes they’d stop interfering with the investigation.
First, new author to me so yay, a new backlist to explore!
And, I picked this book for a challenge so I'm glad that even though this book is #7 in a series, it was able to stand alone. I wasn't lost at all. I am interested in reading the previous books! :)
I’m regretting reading 4 of these books in a row 🙊 they all seem to follow a very similar premise but it’s my old fault and nothing against the author at all!!
Jean Sartor, drops dead at an awards ceremony and Trixie Pristine is suddenly suspect number 1 because she has baked the cookies who seem to be the culprit for Jean's death.
Also Jean's husband is missing and when Dean is found dead too the plot thickens.
Trixie is adamant to restore her good name and not ending up in jail, so she starts her very own investigation which almost get her killed too.
