Very interesting examination of Biblical and Egyptian understanding of the cosmos. Godawa details Moses's mission & prophetic task and the 10 Plagues of Egypt as God's deconstruction of Egyptian cosmology-- their understanding of creation and how the universe works-- as essential to Egyptian destruction and the establishment of the Covenant with Israel at Sinai. A completely different placement for the Red Sea crossing and Sinai and support for a 1447 BC Exodus are supported as well. This non-fiction book is presented as an apologetic for Godawa's novel Moses Against the Gods of Egypt and the view of the gods of the nations as actual entities. For more on this interpretation of of the Divine Council of God and the fate of fallen entities, see the very scholarly work of Dr. Michael Heiser in his book Unseen Realm.

I quite enjoyed reading this deep examination and explanation of the Old Testament understanding of the cosmos/Universe and the understanding of Creation, buttressing that with an explanation of the ancient Egyptian understanding of the Universe/cosmos. The deep inspection and analysis of the holy mission of Moses is fascinating to read, and it makes sense. There is so much to learn from this analysis, including the crossing of the Saini Desert, the Covenant, and crossing of the Red Sea – all of which is a fresh take and a new way to look and interpret these Biblical events.

Brian Godawa has a smooth and easy writing style.

What a pleasant surprise this book is for me! I plan on picking up a few of his novels to read.
