Sitting on my throne I reign over the underworld with a fist of iron. The darkness within runs deep within me as I revel in the violence of depravity for I am King on all I rule and this is hell. Times are changing. Enemy's old and new are challenging us. If Naturals and Humans want to survive then they must combine their forces. It didn't work before, so why do they think it would this time? Will all be lost? You brought yourself into my line of sight, you willingly walked into my domain. She thought she knew what she was walking into. She has no clue. She is a temptation I can not deny. Don't start to think I have a soul for I lost that a long time ago .Don't think I'm your saviour, for I'm your downfall.
He will be my destruction. That doesn't stop me from seeking him out He will break me and not think twice about doing so. The darkness runs deep within him, deeper stronger than I realised. I still can't keep away.
The plot is good and I get the idea behind it but in all honesty, the writing is terrible and it needs a thorough edit. There are so many issues, not only grammatically and spelling wise, but also with repetition, time line, inconsistencies and the use of wrong words and phrases too. If I had to guess, I'd say English isn't this author's first language. I will read book 2, just to see what happens, just to curb my interest. If you're more interested in story than good writing, this is the book for you.
I never give books a bad review. But this was just absolutely repetitive. I had to skim through pages just so I could get through.
A lot of “oh no, you betrayed me. I won’t be a second choice. I’m an omega. I have to keep this secret. Where is my sister? I’m not a second choice. Get rid of the other girl or else. But also btw where is my sister? Who is the person who is taking these people? Also I’m not sloppy seconds. I’m an omega. Omega. Omega.”
This was the worst book I’ve ever tried reading. To be honest I skipped half of it because the repetition was so annoying and just ended up reading any dialogue spoken or bits and pieces that actually pertained to the development of the story. This was like reading some 7th graders wattpad story and it was god awful.
Was given this book as a gift and I had not read the author before. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. It was a complex mix of characters but I was able to follow the story and am now intrigued to find out what happens next. I really hope Aria gets what she deserves though
I only read as it was linked to a Facebook book that sounded awesome. Unfortunately it was not the book that was connected to the Facebook post. It was okay I’m currently reading the second one. The story is patchy. Some bits make no sense.
Chapter 2 I knew this would be a DNF. The constant emphasis on the FC being young was brought up 6 times. Why? Without even clarifying her actual age to boot. Just that her sisters don’t listen to her because she’s young. This tells me 2 things: the FC will be a wet doormat in terms of not sticking up for herself, not thinking for herself, and having to constantly be saved, most likely by the fallen angel immortal night club owner that is also being shoved down our throat before chapter 3. And 2 - the Uber hot immortal night club owner that is full of sex and depravity that’s so sexy but so bad. This tells me that our FC is a virgin. Inexperienced and young.
Because of this, I won’t continue reading. I don’t like inexperienced young delicate FCs, especially in a TikTok author because these authors write the worst of tropes that piss me off and takes me out of a world I want to get lost into.
Even the narrator sounds young and delicate. 🙄 why write about a powerful witch line and make the main witch dumb? Usually it’s so there will be some ungodly power at a pivotal moment in the plot. Usually at the end followed by a stupid cliffhanger that we all know the outcome and saw at the beginning. FC has angel blood? Probably with black wings so she can be unique. Or…. Is the FC a demon? But a good demon full of love and light that likes to help the children of the city, that’s so she’s unique of course. But not after being pounded high and dry in her virginal hole by the Uber hot fallen angel demon night club sex dungeon owner of course. Freak in the sheets but a holier than thou angel in the streets am I right?
Ugh now here’s the “omg that dress is sooo short! I can’t go out in this! My modesty!” Section. Ok I’m done.
Ps who the fuck goes to a sex bar as a virgin and drinks fucking water? Can you write a more tropes YA FC than this?
Oh now she thinks she’s unattractive and no man likes her then BAM every man in the club wants to get in her pants. Lmaoooo this is so bad.
First time reading a book from this author I give it 3 star because this book could’ve had so much potential and be turned into a series I don’t know if the author is going to do that or not but it felt like the story was all over the place . I’m repeating myself in saying that the main characters supposed to be this supernatural that where very strong but they barely done anything to show the power they have . Lucien done nothing it was repeated by other characters how they feel how strong he is and they all respected it but he let Aria walk all over him mind you Aria was a lesser demon not as strong as he was it made no sense. This book like the second book was told from multiple characters POV it felt like the author wanted to make it like Black Dagger Brotherhood which it would’ve been great but unfortunately it came out messy I don’t know maybe with more editing and guidance this author will get better reviews. The ending on the second book was abrupt and no hints that there’s gonna be a book on other characters or if the story continues or what’s next …..nothing !
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I never wrote a book review. Like ever. But for this is had to say something: I get wanting to draw people to the next book in the series, but this was such a cliff hanger it turned me off to the next one. Nevermind the fact the content was so verbose, I’d get disinterested and skip ahead. It felt like literary fluff, unnecessary and like they were trying to meet a word count. The bouncing between the various people was annoying. If it would have been just between Lucien and Scarlett, I’d get it; but let’s toss some others in there just to mix things about a bit. The sex scenes (between him, Aria, and whatshername) were like cc versions of porn hub (and a real turn off).
I’m not usually one to really care about grammar errors, but the proofreader really had a narcoleptic moment during this one, maybe they were as enamoured with the writing as I was.
Very much a domination power play kind of vibe. It’s actually quite interesting and quite well described. I enjoyed the first one which led me to read the second. I was desperate to know how it ends. 7/10
**** SUMMARY ****
Enter a world where humans and supernaturals coexist. A hidden group of witches report their sister missing to one of the most dangerous demons in the land. When it is discovered that people are missing from different regions, naturals, humans and witches alike must come together and find out what’s going on. Follow the unorthodox relationship between the king of the demons and a young witch omega.
Brilliant read, it did not take me long to read the book once I started. As I was hooked. Great read, well written and fast enough paced to keep things moving, but not to lose your hold on the characters. I loved it, right up my street and the spice was well timed and well written. No cringe. Well done, and thoroughly recommended. I’m about to go diving straight into book 2, I need to know what happens. The epilogue has got me enticed, leaving me wanting more. V.L.Peters has done a great job penning this story.
This book needed some editing some words missing or sentences that didn’t make sense. It was a little too insta-loveish for me. I understand lust at first sight and they were having visions of each other before they met but they moved into “I only want to be with you” mode without much build up and getting to know each other. The random other POV’s thrown in there seemed out of place and the time jump at the end was very weird just missing a lot of the story not sure if that was on purpose to entice the reader to continue reading book 2.
Too many spelling or gramatical mistakes. Also, there seemed to be repeats of the same storyline. I understand that at times it’s from a different characters point of view but there was too much overlap a couple times. It should have just been a quick recap and not basically a word for word retelling from a different point of view.
All in all, the plot has me hooked and I’m already reading the second book. The author knew what they were doing.
I enjoyed reading this. Scarlett and Lucien were intense, but I'm also curious about the other witches and their back stories. I enjoy supernatural fiction and this one delivered in terms of suspense and plot. I'm guessing there's another book in the works. Looking forward to it...
This is in my top 5 reads of the year. I absolutely loved everything about it, the storylines, the characters, the writing style, the slow burn and spice. V.l. peters is a new author to me, and I'm super excited to read more. I'm so great ful to Sisterhood of the traveling books, that allowed me the chance to read this book.
This book really surprised me to be honest. I wasn’t expecting much from it but I found myself totally engrossed in the story. The character development and details from the author were incredible and this proved to be more than just another smutty book. I can’t believe it ended in a cliff hanger because now I’m definitely going to have to start the next book.
Definitely has potential. Needs more editing and proofreading. Maybe cutting some of the repetitive scenes and offering more dialogue scenes between the FMC ad MMC. Developing the characters. Otherwise feels flat. Spice is good but very pornhub-ish. Would have preferred more spice/dialogue/interaction between MMC and FMC. Needs reworking.
I really liked the story and world building, but had to take of stars because our MMC is with OW throughout the book, even after claiming the FMC, I cant get on board with this and I hope she leaves him for someone better in the next book. I will continue this series for at least one more book, I think I like where it's going, but we shall see.
I’ve only read like 12% of the book before I decided to be done with it. The plot idea is very nice but the writing doesn’t help >at all<. It lacks polishing, it sounds more like my raging confusing and unorganized thoughts than a book. Just gave up on the whole thing altogether
Okay so the concept of this storyline is awesome. Absolutely love it. But the grammar and spelling errors distracted me and made me feel like I was reading a rough draft. As I said, story line has so much potential and if you can just pretend the errors aren’t there, read it!😂
Love it love it love it!! It’s hot, it’s steamy and leaves you wanting more. Epilogue is intriguing. Think I know who is on with Megan but can’t wait to read her story. On to the next!
Brilliant book. Exciting, riveting and well written. The character development was good, it made you really feel supportive of the heroine. A must read.
