However, the Count has been keeping secret a childhood injury that means Maxine can never marry. He’s done this as he searches for a miracle so this marriage can take place. He needs the influence such an alliance would give him, and he’ll stop at nothing to have it.

The time has come. There could be no more excuses. No more delays. The marriage has to happen, or the contract will be broken.

Kristen Ashley was born in Gary, Indiana, USA. She nearly killed her mother and herself making it into the world, seeing as she had the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck (already attempting to accessorise and she hadn't taken her first breath!).

Kristen grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana but has lived in Denver, Colorado and the West Country of England. Thus she has been blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her posse is loopy (to say the least) but loopy is good when you want to write.

Kristen was raised in a house with a large and multi-generational family. They lived on a very small farm in a small town in the heartland and existed amongst the strains of Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon and Whitesnake (and the wardrobes that matched).

Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music, clothes and love was a good way to grow up.

And as she keeps growing up, it keeps getting better.

I've missed this world so much!! I absolutely loved Maxine and Loren. This one truly felt like a fairytale romance. The way these two are with each other should make every woman green with envy.

Usually with a Kristen Ashley book I'm saying the hero is a jerk in the beginning, but a dream in the end...well this time you don't get the jerk. I know that will make some readers extremely, happy and others unhappy. I know some love that conflict in the hero first. While I don't mind it depending on how much he's a jerk, I much prefer they don't be that towards a heroine. I really like a hero that is all in and treats the woman like a queen, and that's exactly what you get with these two.

On top of all this goodness, we get to see some of the past Fantasyland Characters. My favorite being Lahn and Cerce. This was so much fun to read and I already want to re-read it. Please tell me we will get more in the Fantasyland series!!

I was really looking forward to this book. I’m a huge fan of her Fantasyland series, and the book was narrated by Stella Bloom and John Hartley. (I love these two together) I don’t want to spend a ton of time on this because if you’re a fan… you probably won’t regret reading it… but it’s not her best.

I liked the premise… Maxine and Loren are betrothed, but her evil father (Edgar Dawes the Count of Derryman) put her on a horse when she was 6, and a fall caused brain damage. Desperate because the contract is about to be canceled, he learns of “our world” and kidnaps our Maxine and her mother to blackmail her into pretending to be the other Maxine.

We get very little on Maxine/Satrine. She’s 26-ish, her dad is a loser, her mom and her have struggled, and that’s about it. IMO, she lacked the maturity other h’s in the series have had. Loren, the Marquess of Remington, is a rich, hot badass. He gets around, was some sort of spy/soldier for King Tor, and has darkness/feels unworthy, so he’s a bit of a vigilante. Timeline wise this takes place after the Rising/Beast series, so I’m guessing 20-ish years after the last book. (Tor and Cora’s kids are grown)

We saw this in the last series, but our introduction to Loren is him finishing up after having sex with a whore. I’m easygoing with content, but I didn’t like it when we met Cassius tupping his maid, and I didn’t like Lore getting it on in the brothel... so FYI. (both happened before meeting h's) There’s a place for heavy, but IMO fairytale fantasy-ish inspired romance isn’t it.

Sour taste aside, my biggest issue was being bored because I felt zero chemistry for the main characters. This was because on top of the expected KA filler of countless hair, clothes, smells, buildings, pets, etc. descriptions… there’re a TON of plot-blocking secondary characters that are constantly in the way of mc’s spending any real time together. Gah!

This part reminded me a lot of the Broken Dove pacing, but Gossamer in the Darkness didn’t have any angst-drama inducing conflicts to spice things up… and I found Satrine quite annoying, so it was boring. Also, much of the first 50% is the h planning on stealing and leaving the H which made the sudden love connection feel forced. Basically, Lore is doing his vigilante stuff while Maxine/Satrine is hanging with her maid, mom, new sister, aunt, fat cat, or anybody that isn’t Loren.

And, I’m really over grown ass women saying crap like awesome, yowza, you’re rocking my world, etc…. And her 50+ yr-old mom… “Oh yeah, guuuuuuuurrrrl, I’m lovin’ me some of that.” 🙄🙄

Bottom Line- This was slow going filled with loads of filler, and I only got through it with a fair amount of skimming. It takes about 60% to get to fooling around, and almost the end to get to sexytime. I’m not sure if this will continue because there were a few loose ends left.

OG cameo’s-
Tor and Cora’s kids are grown. Hayden is a soldier, Devon is at school, and Leighton is “is undoubtedly testing the efficacy of pennyrium as he beds the maids in Karsvall while training with Apollo in the House of Ulfr’s seat.” (I’m assuming Devon is Dara the girl she had after Broken Dove)
Lahn & Circe are around a bit, but he had a Scottish sounding accent which didn’t really work. No mention of kids.
King True & Farah around for a scene. No mention of their kids.
Valentine shows up, her accent was also off. No updates on her.
Finnie and Maddie are at wedding. No updates.
Other Circe and our Lahn are married.

I cannot tell you how much I've missed this magical world of Fantasyland by Kristen Ashley. This was such a treat but way too short for me, I didn't want it to end. Though since it was just a novella I must have no complains really.

As with most of her Fantasyland books, our heroine Maxine/Satrine, ends up being transferred to this parallel world without her consent. Her and her mother are sold to her twin's evil father of the parallel world, and she ends up being forced to marry Loren Copeland, Marquess of Remington and a future Duke, for financial and social gain.
Even though she came from a different world, Satrine was able to resiliently take on this new adventure while at the same time she was able to gain the love of everyone who met her, especially Loren.

I really loved the interaction between Satrine and Loren. From the very beginning Loren recognized that Satrine was different. She was outspoken, witty and had her own mind, not afraid to take matters into her own hands. Very different from the domesticated and obedient wife that he was expected to marry, which turned out to be something he really enjoyed and loved.

Now, are there enough words to make justice to this fine specimen of a hunk that is Loren? No! That is the correct answer. But regardless I'll give it a try. Not only is he sexy AF, he is also a warrior who fought for his King and country, doing unspeakable things that only selected few have knowledge about. He has experienced such loss that his heart is guarded by dark shadows that only a bright spitfire like Satrine can attempt to chase away.
What I found to be the most attractive quality of his, is his ability to really listen to what Satrine is trying to say and actually give in when it is due. This can't be said for most men in real life, but I guess that's why we are reading about fictional hunks in the first place right?

At times I thought the events were lining up perfectly so fast in order for the story to progress, that the reading felt rushed. But that's about it.
This was a fantastic book that I thoroughly enjoyed and I can't recommend this enough!

Re-read with my book bff 2025

This was fun...I had such a good time and the length was about perfect for this story which is a good introduction to Kristen Ashley if you have not read her before.

Maxine was headstrong and a force to be reckoned with at times. It was also fun to see King Tor and Cora years later along with Dax Lahn and Cersei for lovers of the original series. Loren like most KA heroes was at one point a complete ass (for a short period of time), but other than that this was just a lot of fun.
"The sun is shining. This house is ridiculously perfect. I assume you have food, and intend to feed me, which I will welcome with heart and should as I'm starved. And your son is remarkably ugly, but I fear I have no choice to accept him."....
...Still chuckling, he finally greeted Dad-not-Dad with a dismissive, "Derryman," then tucked my hand in the crook of his elbow as he started guiding me toward the house stating, "We has such grave concerns, seeing as he turned out so un-sightly. I must tell you have relieved I am you have a generous heart."

Review copy was received from Publisher. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Only Kristen Ashley could make a novella that is 344 pages or 9 wonderful listening hours.  She is kinda ridiculous like that and you might be thinking that is a long book for a story that is supposed to just be set in a world she has created.  The funny thing is that the Fantasyland series books were soooo long.  Like epic fantasy long and I think each was 650ish pages, so I guess compared to that Gossamer in the Dark is shortish.

There are two parallel worlds and the people of one have a twin in the other.  With the use of magic people from our would can be pulled through to this crazy magical place where there are dragons, animals talk to you and everything is still a bit on the Victorian side of life.

Fantasyland is a romantasy series I completely loved.  Loren is a man with a few demons in his past while working in an elite assassin squad for his King.  He has also been in contract to marry a certain woman since birth practically, a woman he does not know and has been kept secreted away from him.  But the time has come, the woman in question has to show up to fulfill the contract soon or Loren is saved and need not marry her.

Maxine of our world has just been kidnapped and told she must marry Loren and produce an heir or her mother, also kidnapped from our world and Maxine’s Fantasyland twin will die.  So now Maxine is off to pretend to be her in the Fantasyland world and woo the man she is contractually betrothed to.  Her father of the Fantasyland world is the man who kidnapped her and there is no telling what he will do to her family if she doesn’t cooperate.  Also she can’t tell anyone she is from another world, lest she be cursed, but even if she could who would believe her.

I definitely liked Maxine.  She took it all in stride and made the best out of her situation.  She really was fun and some of the stuff that came out of her mouth was hilarious.  Loren was also pretty hunky and easy to like if you enjoy slightly broken characters like I do.  As they get to know each other it is clear to see they really are a couple perfectly fit for one another and I loved getting to know them.

Usually, KA has something fun I think she puts in for just her.  In Gossamer in the Dark, it was the hats.  The big ridiculous, decorated hats that she had a lot of fun dressing her characters up in.

You don’t need to have read the other Fantasyland books, although it really would help to be able to enjoy this story.  Still if you have read other books of the Fantasyland series I think you will be happy to see a few of your favorite couples along with one of the couples from her other series set in the same world.  She does like to throw in cameos for her fans and I always love to see Lan and Cercei.
This would be a good book to decide if you might like Kristen Ashley's Romance/Fantasy hybrids.

Narration:
Stella Bloom is a staple in a few of Kristen Ashley's series and she has a fantastically sultry voice that is wonderful for romance. She and John Hartley are a good team for the narration of Gossamer in the Darkness  Hartley is suited to giving good Alpha male while Stella Bloom is great at the fiery and quirky Maxine. I listened to this book at my usual 1.5x speed.

It's not secret I love KA books and that one of my all-time favorites is book 2 in this series, The Golden Dynasty. So it's not surprise to me that I LOVED Gossamer in the Darkness.

It had everything I liked about the series in general, including cameos from all the other couples from previous books, plus everything I enjoy about Kristen Ashley's books which is a ton of love, compassion and understanding, coupled with swoony sexiness.

Satrine and Loren are wonderful characters who make the most out of their forced circumstances. In Loren’s case an arranged marriage, while Satrine proves to be one incredibly strong heroine, not only trying to free her mother and twin of the parallel world she’s been dragged to, but also out of her forced marriage.

Loren is loyal, protective and kind and proves as much again and again, while Satrine has a beautiful heart. It was such a joy to watch them fall in love and enjoy their sweet, swoony and sexy times.

“I love you to my soul. It’s like you’re a part of me. I’m scared as fuck of losing you,” he whispered. Her face grew tender.

“I can’t tell the future, honey, but right now, I’m right here.”

“Come to me,” he ordered.

“Meet in the middle?” she offered.
“Fuck yes,” he replied.

I loved this world full of glitter, gowns, talking animals, gowns and magic. Fans of the series will be delighted, but fear not new readers, you won’t be lost in the least.

Gossamer in the Darkness is novella 5.5 in the Fantasyland series by author Kristen Ashley. It is told from both points of view with a happy ending. Genre: paranormal romance.

Loved it!

I need to mention that I read this AFTER I read her Rising series, which is a spin off from this series, Fantasyland. I'm glad I did since there were things mentioned in this book that are related to The Rising series.
So I would recommend you read The Rising series BEFORE you read this novella.

4.5 stars!

Like settling under a fluffy blanket, I picked this book up and snuggled right into the unique storytelling of Kristen Ashley and one of my favourite fantasy worlds for a gorgeous romance with all the feisty attitude that I love from her heroines, and an irresistible alpha hero that stole my heart.

This novella is set within Ashley’s Fantasyland series, taking place years into the future, after the events of The Rising series. It’s helpful to know the Fantasyland world before diving into this one, and there are also some wonderful cameos from both series, which will obviously mean more to those who have read all the books.

Years ago, when they were children, Loren and Maxine were betrothed to be married. It was an advantageous match for Maxine’s father who was greedy for the power and notoriety that would come from having his daughter marry into the aristocracy. So when his young daughter had an accident which left her disabled and “unfit” for marriage, he broke all the rules by finding a witch who can access a parallel universe (our world) to find his daughter’s ‘twin’ and bring her back to his world to uphold the marriage bargain.

And so, real-world Maxine is thrust into a whole new world that is a mix between a Disney movie and a renaissance fair. She’s enamoured by its beauty, but it completely under the thumb of her ruthless ‘father’ who is holding the lives of her real-world mother, and fantasy-world twin against her unless she marries Loren, the Marquess of Remington.

It’s a great set-up, made all the more awesome because Loren and Maxine (now going by the name Satrine to avoid confusion with her ‘twin’), are absolutely fantastic! Loren is pure KA alpha goodness – loyal, protective, kind brave, and a badass. He’s a bit of a player, but from his first interaction with Satrine, he’s fully committed, and determined to claim the wild young woman. Satrine is so much fun. She’s taken to her new world brilliantly, though makes the odd slip in her language and behaviour which keeps things entertaining.

There’s an immediate attraction between them, and suddenly the whole arranged marriage thing isn’t looking so bad! But Satrine has no idea what her place is in her new world, and whether she’ll ever be able to get back to her own. And Loren is dealing with his own darkness – he’s done bad things in his past, and doesn’t want to bring that down on the bright ray of sunshine that is Satrine.

They have a lot to figure out, and along the way they’re getting to know each other and their feelings for each other grow, and it’s absolutely beautiful to watch!

“Don’t let me go.”
Her lips parted.
“My hold is slipping, Satrine, don’t let me go.”
“Your hold on what?”
“On anything that is good in this world.”

The romance is playful and fun, with a strong emotional element. Neither Loren nor Satrine hold back from each other, diving right in and enjoying everything that they’re feeling, and it’s romantic, flirty and super passionate, and they fall naturally, effortlessly in love.

With all that they need to figure out between them, there is some drama, but it’s short-lived, and this is a beautifully functional romance that completely swept me away.

“You may think you’re dark,” I told him. “And I’m finding you are. Dark like this.” I indicated the room with a sweep of my flute. “Edged in gossamer and crystal. Lit with fire. A beautiful cocoon where I feel safe, truly safe, for the first time in my life.”
His voice was now thick, and that fire was burning into me from his eyes.
“Sweeting.”
I leaned into him and whispered, “so stay dark, my handsome man. I’ll take you precisely as you come.”

There’s a great cast of side characters that bring a lot to the story. Satrine’s mother is fantastic, as is Loren’s Dad and his friends. God, I’d love more from this series!

I loved this book. It’s a great read with fantastic characters and a gorgeous romance. A must-read for fans of the Fantasyland series.

Have you ever read a historical romance or watched a movie set in Victorian times and wondered what it would be like to live in that era? Well for Maxine Dawes my wonderment is becoming her reality and I for one LOVED the clash of the two different worlds.

GOSSAMER IN THE DARKNESS follows the story of Maxine Dawes who was brought from our time to a parallel universe that is centuries behind us, where we are all tech gadgets and social media her new world is horse drawn carriages and gowns for different times of the day. While it may seem like a simpler time it doesn't mean it was easier. You see Maxine was brought there to pose as her double and wed Loren Copeland, the Marquess of Remington, because the real Maxine had a terrible accident when she was a child and cannot wed. But will he find out about this scheme or will Maxine convince Loren to fall in love with her and marry her?

I really enjoyed this story and since I have only read the first book in this series years ago I can say without a doubt that this book can be read as a complete standalone.

If you enjoy Steamy Paranormal Romances, Historical Romances, or are a fan of Kristen Ashley's Books I would recommend this book to you.

Happy Reading!!!

Gossamer in the Darkness is a fantastic novella, I am so excited for readers to get their hands on Ms. Ashley’s newest work!

Satrine and Ansley are a true Kristen Ashley couple, both fiery, full of life, stubborn, and lovable. They battle headstrong against each other and then unite against true, disgusting overbearing evil. Their chemistry is electric from the start, readers know that sparks are going to fly consistently between the two for the remainder of the story. Watching the couple protect each other and trusting one another for such a short time made the story a page-turner.

Lady Corliss is quite the impromptu actress and puts on a good show at times, to keep the trail from being seen. Learning her role quickly and completely, it’s easy to see where Satrine gets her spirit from. The ladies, Satrine, Corliss and Maxine really are the stars in the novella, they enjoy each other, support each other and are not afraid to push limits.

The cast of characters is chalked full of full-body characters, quick witted, energetic, tough, and lovable characters. They make the pages turn quicker and quicker, allowing the quirky and fun plot to move along flawlessly. Readers do not need to know about previous Fantasyland characters however it does make the joy that much more infectious if they do. Gossamer in the Darkness is a great addition to any Kristen Ashley book list, I would strongly recommend this for a great way to spend an afternoon.

Knock me over with a feather - I actually enjoyed this novella. It's been so long since I've closed a KA book and doing it with a smile. It was a little too insta-romance for me, but it was a good story overall. Beyond shocked and happily so. There is still hope...

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4 Welcome Back to Fantasyland Stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The marriage that Maxine’s father arranged for her to Loren is in jeopardy due to a childhood accident Maxine had, her conniving unscrupulous father isn’t about to walk away from the benefits he will enjoy by the arranged marriage. He learns of a parallel world where his daughter has a twin. He isn’t above kidnapping her & her mother and forcing her to comply with his demands that she pretend to be Maxine and marry Loren….or her mother will suffer.

Loren is unexpectedly drawn to Maxine (who now goes by Satrine) in a way he never anticipated, unaware that she is not his true intended bride. She is everything he could want in a wife….yet there are so many secrets and deceptions. Will Loren & Satrine’s romance survive the truth when it’s revealed?

2D1C3421-5F6F-4EFE-B8F0-A6F4F74507BB

The characters are great, Satrine is strong and resilient. Satrine’s mother is a added bonus. She’s also a strong and determined woman who finds she must protect not only Satrine but Satrine’s damaged other world twin Maxine. Meanwhile, Loren is determined to protect all of them, even if it is from himself.

This is the first KA book I’ve enjoyed in a very long while! Romantic, enchanting and so much fun. It was great to be back in FANTASYLAND, especially since we get cameos from some of our favorite couples from the previous books.

Why haven't I read any books in this series before? I'm definitely going to be fixing that oversight because I really enjoyed Maxine/Satrine's story. I loved Loren and this world gives me a vibe that mixes Regency with Game of Thrones.

If there is one thing, I have learned about Kristen Ashley books it is to never expect it to go the way you think it is going to go. Even if you are sure, you probably aren't.

While I thoroughly enjoyed the Fantasyland series as a whole, I didn't love it like I did her Colorado Mountain series or her Three Trilogy. With Gossamer in the Darkness though, it made me realize that I loved this series much more than I thought I did. Being reunited with some of our favorite characters and seeing how far they have come really touched my heart in a way I didn't expect.

Maxine and Loren were destined to be together from that first moment in the rain and not once through this story did my belief in their HEA ever faulter. It was touch and go at times on how I thought the ending would work out, but I seriously loved it more than I could say.

Stella Bloom kind of blew me away with her narration for both the females and the males. Dare I say her male voices were almost sexy because they truly were. Then John Hartley people, sweet molasses! His voice was everything deep and delicious as Loren. The growl of possessiveness he was able to add when it came to Maxine had me swooning all over the place.

Now that I have completed this series, I am kind of sad to say goodbye to this other world Kristen Ashley has created. If i could complain about one thing it is that through all this all I wanted was for Valentine to get her happily ever after however that decided to come.

KA has been very hit and miss for me recently.
But I liked this one on the whole.
It's a novella, but as KA usually gives you a very full book, a novella feels like a full read, it's 39 chapters plus an epilogue.
It is obviously an extra story to the original Fantasyland series.

One issue I had was in the original series the couple's were tied by a fated mate idea so despite not knowing each other, they felt a strong attraction but it was explainable.
This one doesn't have that which makes it very insta lust.
The heroines even says a few times that she doesn't really know him.
She has her reasons for marrying him but he has a choice o break the betrothal but doesn't want to even though he doesn't really know her.
There are no intimate scenes other than the Hero and heroine but in chapter 1 he is leaving the bed of a whore.
Once they meet there is no other woman or man drama.

Spoilers.
The injury spoken of in the blurb is the original girl fell off her horse at 6 and
'It was an injury of such magnitude, at the time, the physicians you called in, all four of them, told you not only that you were very lucky she was alive, but that it would take a miracle for her to live what is considered a ‘normal’ life. However, in all her notes, throughout her life, every physician who has had charge of her care has recorded that they’ve repeatedly shared with you that she could lead a happy life. However, only if she receives the proper care. She needs stability. She needs patience. She needs predictability. And she needs…care and love.”'

There is a few Downton references with houses and outfits but the descriptions are not as long as previous books.
I thought the premise was quite clever and there are some clever comparisons and slip ups over the heroine's real world, our world and Fantasyland.

The previous couples appear, plus the couples from the other series and some interesting political and economic developments from their books.

HEA.
Epilogue.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

What You'll Find:
✔️Fantasy Romance
✔️Parallel Worlds
✔️Arranged Marriage
✔️Hidden Identity
✔️All The Feels
✔️Dual POV

Reading Gossamer in the Darkness was like that comfort feeling of coming home after being away for awhile. I absolutely loved being back in the Fantasyland World! One of my favorite series by KA.

A marriage contract formed before the were even born, ties Loren, The Marquess of Remington, and Maxine, the daughter of the Count of Derryman. But a childhood injury prevents Maxine from marrying. The Count has hidden her injury and is desperate for the influence this marriage alliance can give him. He learns of a parallel universe where his daughter has a twin. And he kidnaps her... forcing her to play his daughters part, and make the Marquess fall in love with her.

This story started off a little slow for me. But it takes no time before I'm turning the pages. And that is mostly because of the heroine. She is strong and feisty. She reminded me a little of Indy (from Rock Chick) in one scene in particular that had me laughing. Loren is a bit of a broken hero. A tad grumpy. But that doesn't last long and he'll have you swooning. He's got the sexy protective vibe going on. I loved their connection. They just fit. It was a bit instalove but I was here for it.

Overall this novella was enjoyable. It has a Regency feel. With some good chemistry and steam. And it made me smile. A 'waiting for the shoe to drop' feel. I especially love the cameos from the Fantasyland crew. There were some characters from The Rising Series as well, which made me wish I had read that spin-off series already... but its not necessary to read this. Just gives me that push to get that read soon too. The ending has me hoping that maybe there will be more to come from this fantastic world!

*NOTE: Can be read as a standalone, but in my opinion would be best appreciated after the Fantasyland Series.

I received an ARC via Social Butterfly PR and 1001 Dark Nights Blue Box Press in exchange for my honest review.

It's always fun to be back in this world. I like seeing how everyone from our world adjusts. Satrine did a really good job figuring things out as she was trying to protect her mother and Maxine. I was glad that Loren wasn't an ass and helped when he saw what a horrible situation Satrine was in. Once that was settled things became much better for Satrine, her mother and sister. Then it was the whole how do I get home, do I get home, how can I stay here without telling Lorne the truth. All of that was taken care of when the past characters showed up and it was easy to see the women had some things in common. With a base to help her, Satrine settled into her new life very well, happy to be there with the man she loved.

Wait a minute. I know you're looking at that rating going what the hell Ivy, but lemme splain. This absolutely benefited from the novella length format.

Yes, it is fantasy and if you're not a fan of KA's fantasy series, you're never going to like this anyway, BUT if you are a fan, then this leans into her ability to create found family dynamics AND it doesn't settle into HEA territory too soon either. Yes, there's some convenient plot devices, yes there's lots of descriptions of the wardrobe (man, those hats *blinks*) and the furniture BUT the characters are interesting and the chemistry is there and the story is structured well. I know, color me shocked too.

It was a fun dip back into this series and I would read more in this 'verse, if KA is so inclined.

See from the moment he spoke to the prostitute in that manner i.should've quit.....side note is it just me that's grossed out by any of my mcs giving oral sex to randoms? Just me? Ok moving on......this was a "novella" that was just way too long. The way the mcs spoke irritated the heck out of me.

3.75 stars

ahh this was simply wonderful. it felt both fantastical and historical (because of the royal hierarchical setting/the H being a marquess). after the mediocrity of the authors recent releases, i thought this would be just as meh. but i was thoroughly delighted by this. so glad to be back in this world. i loved the characters, the romance, the plot, the magical setting, and all the cameos both from this series and The Rising. can we now please get a novella for the “other” Lahn & Circe too pleaseee?

My mini review of:
#1 Wildest Dreams — 3.5 Stars
#2 The Golden Dynasty — Infinity of Stars
#3 Fantastical — 4 Stars
#4 Broken Dove — 3.5 Stars
#5 Midnight Soul — 3 Stars

I was very happy to get a return visit to the Fantasyland series! I did love Loren’s and Maxine’s story; my only complaint is that it wasn’t long enough. Well worth the $2.99 price.

Back in fantasyland

I did like this story. I loved this series from Kristen Ashley, but wished it was a longer novel like the other books. It was nice to see the characters from previous books especially Valentine.

Honestly, you can't go wrong with a Kristen Ashley book. Add into it the wonderful magical world of the Fantasyland series and it's perfection 👌

Loved revisiting this series ❤️

I haven’t read the other books in this series because I never thought they’d be my jam. I may have to go back and check them out after this one….

I was surprised by how quickly I was sucked into the world of deceit, beautiful gowns, lies, curses, arranged marriage, and love despite it all. Maxine of this world is kidnapped, along with her mother, to fulfill the contract that Maxine of another world cannot. And that’s not even the tip of the mystery. Maxine/Satrine realizes she can’t go by that name when her twin does also, but she also realizes that she can’t share the truth or untangle her heart from Loren. Nor can she allow her dad of this land to succeed in his nefarious plans. So she sets a plan of her own in motion and manages to come out of it relatively unscathed. Except for her heart. Yeah, she gave that to Loren and has to hope and wish that he wants to hold it and not drop it when he learns the truth.

Even not knowing what happened before now, I wasn’t lost here. I figured that others would find the truth and waited for Loren to, as well. I was definitely not displeased by his brain and how he reacted either. I was also surprised by how aware this world’s original Maxine was of all that swirled around her, but I wonder what, if anything, may come our way for Maxine now that Satrine has given her the life and love she needed and deserved all along. Add in the downfall of some horrid characters and I was all-in to the very last page. And what a ride it was!

Loren Copeland & Maxine Dawes (aka Satrine)

Another addition to the Fantasyland series. Isn't it grand!?!

Anyway Maxine is forced to leave our world to pose as her "twin" from a parallel world (universe?). The plan is for her to pose as Lady Maxine and marry Loren, Marquess of Remington. Her dad not dad is an as the is forcing her into this by holding her mom and "sister" captive.

Luckily, he doesn't succeed in his endeavors, but his wish for Loren to fall for Maxine may indeed come true. He just won't reap the rewards.

Now Maxine and her mom, have to figure out how to navigate in this world that is so different from theirs, all the while wondering what will happen if Edgar spills the beans.

That may sound like these two ladies are attempting to continue to be dishonest, but no. They are just unable to speak the truth about their circumstances. Why? Well you'll have to read to get the nitty gritty details.

Even though I could have done without the "dad not dad's" throughout the story, I loved the rest of it. I loved how fierce the ladies where when it came to the things they cared about. I loved how Loren was so enamored with Maxine (Satrine) that he was willing to do anything for her.

All I can say is Kristen knows how to write alpha men and kick ass women like no other.

Now I'm left wondering if there will be more, because that ended made it seems like we may be getting more in this world. (hopefully soon)

(Over here doing a happy dance)

A huge 5 Stars from me!

I loved going back to my favourite parallel world. I haven't been in a while. Okay in reality it's been a whole couple of months but for me that's a long time.

Loren and Satrine oh how I grew to love them. That's actually a bit of a fib because it was instant.

Loren was to wed Maxine of his world. A betrothal contract was signed to this.

Maxine is in no state to marry.

Edgar Dawes the derryman and Maxine's father is a vile and evil man has deceived many and he goes about doing that any way he can including seeking out the Maxine of another world.

Satrine is in a Jam... but nothing like being in a pickle with a extremely hot guy.

“You may think you’re dark,” I told him. “And I’m finding you are. Dark like this.” I indicated the room with a sweep of my flute. “Edged in gossamer and crystal. Lit with fire. A beautiful cocoon where I feel safe, truly safe, for the first time in my life.”

“You’re magnificent,” Loren whispered in my ear,

Loren and Satrine are definitely up there the best of the best couples. I couldn't help but fall in love with them and their story.
It was EPIC. Truly a Must Read!
