He's financially stable but emotionally bankrupt...
It was a no-brainer to accept the personal assistant position as a means to rebuild my life. Now I’m regretting my decision. My new boss, the scandalous and sexy Josiah Reed, wants me gone. I don’t fit in here, and he’s made that abundantly clear. Everyone swims in Gucci and looks like they belong on the cover of Vogue. Just like him. But me? I drown in donation bin clothing. Built like a god and with a c*ck like a bull’s, Josiah is a work of art—one that satisfies wild fantasies for a living. He’s fake like his orgasms, with lips just as inflated as his ego. To his “frumpy” PA, he’s mean. Cruel. But I can’t let that stop me. I’m determined. Focused. Desperate. He wants to break me, but he’s wasting his time . . . I’m already a woman in pieces. But with this forced proximity, things begin to change. The way he looks at me when others aren’t watching. The layers he tries to peel away when we’re alone. They’ve been put in place for a reason. Sometimes a beautiful lie is better than the ugly truth.
It’s the second book I read by this author. I like her writing style. Both stories I read, had an originality that is not easy to be found.
In this story, the hero was a porn star, something I haven’t read before. However, I had a hard time connecting with him. I really tried to keep reading but after a point I was struggling. The pace was moderate, the story was intense and emotional. I liked that both mcs had flaws and I found the heroine more relatable. The sex scenes were dirty and tbh spoiled any nice mood I had had.
Hero is a porn star who snorts cocaine. Heroine is recovering heroine addict who has a criminal record., Both have tragic stories. I just find it hard to connect with 2 drug addicts. DNF for me. Love the prologue, but the drugs was a no for me.
What a wonderful, painful and lastly beautiful story! This story is of two people meet when they are in so much pain in a church in a confession they help each other in ways that until years later you find out. This story was funny with the h and her friends and the Sire while at first was a a$$ he was a Prince at times. There is some bad things that happen to both of them but the ending is beautiful, love it!❤i recommend this book to all romance readers.
i very rarely am able to read a book from beginning to end during a work day, but I COULD NOT STOP READING. This was amazing. The relationship between Kam and Josiah was so real. You actually depicted her body changes and sensitivity which no authors seem to care to take the time to do. I busted out laughing a few times, I got so upset I wanted to stop a few times, but here I am LOVING YOUR BOOK!!!! 🙏.

This story line will move the reader all over the place in terms of emotional turmoil. Despite questionable choices made in the past, both characters have a journey to complete here. Josiah Reed’s difficulty was presented first. He is in bad shape and sought out a church. He went into a confessional but there was a woman on the other side waiting to talk to the priest, so he must be on the wrong side. They talked to each other and made an agreement to meet in this exact place if things ever got so terribly bad again that they couldn’t handle it alone. She was grieving over someone she cared about who died. He was suffering intense physical pain over what had been done to him. But he agreed to what she had proposed, even if he didn’t see the sense to it.
Despite our initial introduction to the main characters, they were amazingly strong and resilient, not letting their lives shove them down into despair. Being forced together started to change everything. It was exhilarating to see how the relationship was handled by the author and empowered with their strength as they healed and moved closer together. Get past the first couple of chapters which are difficult and things will become clearer to you.
The H is the top male porn star. But we are to believe that he’s main stream famous.
We are also to believe that he’s so rich off his pornos that he can drop $4500 on a bar tab.
We are also to believe that in between “bullying” his new assistant, he runs a free workshop for disadvantaged kids and volunteers/hangs out at a women’s shelter weekly. Just out of the goodness of his own heart.
So, they travel to Florida for some porno convention, which only lasts a couple hours but that’s beside the point. They are checking in to the hotel and our main-stream-rich-af porn star is being put up in the penthouse on the 23rd floor…which consists of one room, one bathroom, and side-by-side king size beds. Like, quit trying to oversell this dudes wealth when it doesn’t work for the story. Because an actual Miami penthouse, with beds in different rooms, wouldn’t work for the storyline where they stay up late creeping on, I mean bonding with each other. So then just put them in a regular room ffs!
Those are just a few things that really annoyed me but I don’t feel like rehashing all the stupid cliche things I read.
It was just really bad. But the cover model was perfect.
What I Liked: Kamryn (FMC) is probably one of my all-time favorite main characters. She is what we in the South call good people. She has a past, on parole, and trying to do the damn thing so she can have a better life. She is a real one. Kudos to the author for this FMC, truly. I honestly liked the storyline more than it weirded me out. So, the MMC is an adult movie actor who got cut off from his family. He's got issues (we all do). What saves his character for me is the fact that he hates his job and isn't defined by it. He wants a better life but doesn't feel like he deserves one... until he meets Kam.
What I Didn't Like: The third act break-up. (I'm not even gonna say spoiler alert because most of the romance books you pick up have them.) It was shit, honestly. If that situation happened to me by a man who "loves" ME?! Nope. Like a dog that returns to his own vomit. Away from me, sire .
Overall, I love the storyline. It was real. It wasn't cheesy. It had grit and real trauma. Many books on top charts are severely lacking that.
Bought this on Amazon last night and just finished reading. RTC.
I don't write many reviews, in fact, I depise doing so. But I had to include one for this read. This book was great and well written & the characters were memorable. I did find Josiah pretty harsh in the beginning, but he softened as he got to know Kamryn and let her in.
Loved Kamryn! She was strong, kind and loving, and she accepted Josiah for who he was, demons and all. He also accepted and grew to love Kamryn with all her hidden scars.
I particularly loved Kamryn's friends lol. Super relatable characters.
I came across this author from an ad on Instagram and I'm glad I took a chance. I've found a new author whose books I will be devouring this coming weekend. This is a must read and it's pretty different from alot of other romance books out there.
WOW. This book definitely needs more reads because It truly was amazing and needs to be read. There’s quite A LOT to unpack with this book, but It’s all very relative to the progression of the story and educational.
Both Josiah & Kam are two broken souls maneuvering through life in the best way they can. They are quite complex characters with many layers, given their past traumas, vices, and experiences they’ve had to encounter and manage.
This is my 1st time reading this author, & I am truly amazed. Not only is the writing top tier, but also the topics she highlights in her story through her characters are important. I definitely enjoyed my time reading this book, so overall a 10/10 from me ☺️
Read the disclaimer. If those are your triggers then do not read. This book took me in a completely different direction than what I thought off the first two chapters. Josiah is in a bad place and ends up in a church that changes his life. The ups and downs of this story had me laughing, crying and ready to fight. Kamryn is someone relatable and maybe someone we know in our lives. Tragic turns have her fighting to stay above water. Her strength is powerful in this book and I enjoyed seeing her path. If you are looking for something where you need to know how and why the first two chapters happen, this will suck you in fast.
First time read from this author and boy did she completely impressed me. I absolutely loved it. The things Kamryn and Josiah went through and overcame was something. They truly were meant to be. This story will definitely hit you with all the feels so be prepared to be one crazy up and down, twist and turn roller coaster of a ride. Maybe even keep some tissues by your side just in case. I’m kinda sad that it’s over. I feel like I watched them grow and hold a special place in my heart. Funny since they are fictional characters but just the same. I will definitely be reading V.A. Vikolia’s other book and look forward to books from her in the future.
The entire story is full of angst and also very entertaining. Both main characters are unusual for this type of books and both are strong and also kind of lost on the dark side of life. It takes them a while to find the light, but they do and there is a HEA. Be prepared for: OW drama, on page r(a) pe scene description, sa by person in power towards the heroine, on page consumption of drugs, talks of addiction, violence and some harsh reality checks because honestly, some of the things the characters go through are just very close to real life for a lot of people. All in all, this book is different, angsty, entertaining, well written and worthy to be read!
I absolutely loved this book. I was looking for something to pull me out of my reading slump and this book passed with flying colors. The tropes in this book was so good.
The angst and OW drama at the end was exactly what my toxic heart needed. However I do wish we would have got to have more grovel from the H at the end. 😭
The last thing I want to do is compete with another woman for a man’s love. “I don’t want to be a choice, Josiah.” My voice gives way to the raw intensity of my feelings. “I need to be the only choice.”

Wow. Where to even begin. I have had this on my tbr list for a while and I’m seriously kicking myself for not reading it sooner! I love Kamryn! She’s probably my all time favourite h, she’s been through something terrible and is trying to turn her life around and you can feel how hard she is trying and succeeding. Then we have Josiah, i know it is an enemies to lovers story but i never really believed he disliked kam. Without giving anything away i think deep down they knew they needed each other from the get go. And the ending was just *chefs kiss*
This book was a roller-coaster of emotions. Josiah was so much more than what I thought he would be from the beginning of the book. His resilience and ability to heal was amazing. Kam put up with so much and just kept going. Their story and relationship was incredible and I loved how the author was patient in bringing them together. An incredibly powerful book.

Thank you M.A. Vikolia - this was such a pleasure to read. My heart did so many contortions during this read - utterly unexpected and utterly appreciated. The heroine is tangible, you feel her struggle, and she's so like so many of us in her struggles for self-worth and love. Josiah - the hero - is a perfect hero for her in ways I didn't expect in a romance novel. Bravo indeed!.

Intense and heartbreaking It's an excellent romance, sometimes heartbreaking, steamy, sometimes as difficult as it is enjoyable to read. Empathy for Kamryn is as powerful as for Josiah, despite his behavior which can be aggressive or attentive. It's a real rollercoaster of emotions. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book

I don’t write many reviews but I’m making a rare exception for this writer. What I love about her writing is that she takes tired tropes & makes them totally original. I root and feel for her hero & heroine. I feel their pain along with journey to redemption. Thank V.A.!! Please keep on writing!! ❤️❤️
I went into this book blind thinking it was an office/boss personal assistant book. The angst and heartbreak in this book is so amazing. I loved this book.At 47% I decided I had to buy this book because it is a keeper. Trigger warning sexual assault. So romantic even with the angst in the background.
I enjoyed this book. I got sucked in, and finished it early the next day. Kamryn and Josiah have made questionable decisions in the past, ones they cannot forget. Kamryn is trying to rebuild her life, working for Josiah is not easy, he is loose and overbearing. The plot is fast pacee, intense and draws you in from the first page. If you like drama, there's definitely lots of that in here as well.

They meet accidentally at the confessional booth of a church, confessing their story. Both characters are flawed but resilient and together their journey is amazing.
