One day, Cayna receives an urgent correspondence from Shining Saber, a fellow Leadale player also transported to this new world. It turns out that a horde of monsters is headed for the royal capital, and he needs Cayna to lend her mighty powers to stop the beasts. But when a Guardian Tower in the form of a giant tortoise appears in Cayna’s absence, will Exis and Quolke have what it takes to handle it themselves?!
The adventure volume the haters have been waiting for.
Not much air-based content in this volume. There were non-stop battles with only breather conversations in between. Cayna was OP as usual. Kuu, the fairy was now OP herself (and the opening scene was very confusing. Just where did the note from Opus come from?) The meeting with royals was charming. Scargo wasn’t quite as irritating in this volume. The author clarified that Cayna drinks weak fruit wine, and no mention of her being a non-drinker, so I suppose that’s clarity. Then there was the werecat duo who replaced Skargo as the annoying characters of the volume, and Opus’ dungeon.
There was a lot of content covered. All around a humorous light novel. Not perfect, since Cayna was a bit cartoonish towards the end, and the bonus story was an eye-rolling farce, but over all, this was a good followup to the previous volume.
I enjoyed the world building, the monster descriptions, and reading about people besides Cayna clearing a tower. This would be a great volume to see animated, though that won’t likely happen.
This volume was extremely action-packed. There was some action written in before but the series was a slice-of-life fantasy for the most part. This sudden multi-war volume left me reeling a little. There were a lot of new and old characters, one I was pleasantly surprised to meet. This book might not be everyone's cup of tea but it's still a good way to while an hour or so.
Volume 5 was the same old things. Cozy with not much action; but the story did progress a bit. The ending of this one was by far my favorite and I'm enjoying seeing more players in the world. I find them far more interesting than the regular characters because they actually do things that help the plot move forward. I'm not sure what direction the story will take from here but I hope we see more of Cayna and the newest character to pop up.
