Leveling Up My Husband to the Max, one of the most popular Korean novels, is now available to read officially in English. With its meteoric success, the series has been adapted into a webtoon.
A cold, uncaring husband, and unreasonable mother-in-law, and a wrongful death — could your life get any worse? What if you were given a chance to change things? When Amber is sent ten years back in time at the moment of her execution, she finds herself face to face with the younger version of her husband, but something’s different about him... He’s completely at her beck and call! Will she be able to prevent the past from repeating itself, or will her life spiral into misery once again? Operation: Leveling Up My Husband to the Max begins now!
I first encountered this story in Webtoon and was my first, or one of my first, encounters with the 2nd chance at life/reincarnation stories. I've read a lot of manhuas within this subgenre now and they're my new guilty pleasure read. This is one of the better done ones.
Its fast paced and the FL does everything that brings a lot of satisfaction. She's smart and quickly weaving her second life to find the solutions to all the things she failed at in her first life. We all have it within is to be smart, courageous, and loved by all the characters.
One different thing from the webtoon is that we get away more insight into Kalix. It's not just miscommunication from a stoic character. He has poor social skills, some anxiety, and very low self esteem.
I really liked this one and can’t wait to see how things progress for Amber and her hubby. I’m so hoping for a HEA! I love how Amber has decided to do what she wants to do and isn’t afraid to do what she needs to.
And WOW Bella is HORRIBLE. Seriously, going to whip Amber with metal tipped cat-o-nine tails?!? I can’t wait til she gets her comeuppance!
4, thank you past Jen for pre-ordering this so it magically ended up on my eReader today, stars!

i like it. i've read de manghwa first and sought the novel (ongoing in original with an added delay for english). publisher translation is good, the art in manghwa too, not too loose from the plot. i will read the next book, probably to the last one.
The heroine of this story gets a second chance and she is determined to prevent the mistakes of the past. I read this story in one sitting. I can't wait for the next volume!
The story opens with the fall of the East. The Emperor has won and is about to wipe out the Duke and Duchess. As pregnant Amber lays dying, she wishes she could do it over again and gets her wish. When she reopens her eyes, she's back several years in the past and vows to do it differently. Her husband has changed from the stoic man she knew.
Honestly the opening was pretty grim and my heart broke for Amber when she realized that Carlix didn't care for her at all. But I loved how she refused to let the past repeat. She stood up to her horrific mother in law and demanded better treatment from her husband. She even used her wits to improve their reputation and snatch her power back from her MIL. Really enjoyed her taking it to that wicked bitch. The flashbacks of her pitiful life was so sad. I even felt for Carlix despite my initial dislike of him. He had an abusive childhood and what was clearly PTSD from the countless wars he'd been forced into. They'd both made assumptions about each other and never tried to communicate in her past life. The art could've been better though and the story lagged in some places but I had a good read.
the novel serves as a placeholder for the whole webcomic. One of the more generic reincarnation stories but it made me feel good and kept me hooked until the end even though it was kinda obvious what was going to happend and what the mystery of the east was at around 50% of the story. Amber was a bit too perfect in my eyes, in her second life she didn't have any struggles that she couldn't solve in the first go. Carlyx was a bit too puppy like for my taste and it made him a bit unbelievable as a character. wouldn't read it again but still worth recommending.
This is like a higher-stakes fantasy version of Peggy Sue Got Married, and I really enjoyed the strong start. In her original timeline, Amber was a broken bird in a cold cruel world. In this story, she's a badass. And while I usually hate personality transplants, it made sense here. I mean, she was beheaded while pregnant, and then instantly wakes up ten years earlier—facing that kind of trauma could make anyone snap, right?
Unfortunately, I wasn't paying attention and didn't realize this web novel isn't fully translated yet 🤦♀️. I wound up on a mini cliffhanger, but thankfully, there’s a completed webtoon, so I finished reading it that way.
Honestly, I was totally fine with that! While the written story in Book 1 definitely had more depth and nuance than the webtoon, it was also more frustrating. The multiple scenes of awkward silence between the main characters were just so painful to read. It was nice to be able to scroll past them!
This is personally closer to 3⭐ but I'm rounding up to 4 because there are so few ratings here.
Pretty standard manhwa, amber goes back in time 10 years after almost dying and she takes her knowledge from the future to repair the East and her relationship with Carlyx (which was bad in the previous life). Nothing was too shocking or plot twist-y. Not a bad read either, pretty entertaining and really cute. Just very average in terms of what happens in these kinds of genres 😭
I think this story is one of my favorites in the Isekai genre. The growth of each character is notorious and I got to love everyone (except for that horrible emperor, but anyway). I am waiting for the final chapters, but I think this characters will always have their place in my heart.
This is for the Webtoon :) in full! Loved the beginning, very strong and also a solid middle part. The end got quite political which I wasn't super enjoying but it was worth it for the final episodes
Amo a las mujeres dándola toda. Y aquí Amber me encanto. Excelente protagonista. Me inspira a ser igual que ella. Calmada, que siempre lleva la rienda de la situación.
-ill come back to this as soon as i can to edit but brief points to touch on: So season one was super satisfying. Female lead is introduced with a certain goal and attitude to accomplish that specific goal. The male lead is highly misunderstood. however the two leads actually communicate and talk out all their conflicts and internal issues with the other. The villain that's introduced is cleanly dealt with by the end of the volume and its satisfying to see it followed out without extreme consequences. Its revealed however there is a bigger scheme behind the scenes and the leads will need each other to make it out in one piece unscathed.
== Whole Series Completed!!
The communication between both the female and male lead will be my favorite of all manhwas. They are not extraordinary but simple people with a simple goal in mind. It’s almost humble they want a life together without fear and threat of war and famine for their sub-country. I enjoyed all the moments between the two and more so as the story evolved. The villains were great and all.. but it felt so pitiful..
It’s almost like secondhand embarrassment when it comes to the Emperor and his reason for hating Carlyx and his nation.
A ton of that was ranting that you'll probably agree to after finishing the series. Overall fantastic read! Highly Recommended!
