Ben Stivers is closing his Indiana hobby shop and retiring.
He has decided that it is time for him to yield to the realities of being widowed in his old age, a changing marketplace and cultural shifts.
But in the meantime, he will have some help for the closeout process, at least during the summer.
That is until a young man by the name of Shawn leaves for his first semester at Purdue.
Ben knows that most of what he sells was more beloved by another generation, not by the new young who would prefer to have their leisure time occupied by video games, and have learned a different view of history in regard to the models of military ships and airplanes occupying the shelves of the store.
But Shawn and the old man come to realize that there are some important things that manage to transcend generations and culture.
