There’s a new vampire prince in town who says I belong to him. That’s what he thinks . . .
For five years, I’ve been bound to a vampire prince. I’ve had to do his bidding, but now that he’s gone this is my chance for a fresh start. Until Sebastian arrives.
Not even the darkest black magic spell can fool a vampire this dangerous. Seb says he owns me. That the contract is still valid. And if I leave, he’ll imprison me.
His arrogance makes my blood boil. But Seb has taken a liking to me and proposes a deal. The contract is business, but he and I could be all about pleasure.
He’s got another thing coming if he thinks I’m going to become his plaything. There’s no way I’m telling him I’m still a virgin when he’s so sinfully sexy. That would only make him more determined to make me his.
It seems I’m not the only one who has a problem with Sebastian. A sect of rogue vampires is hell bent on overthrowing the reign of the new vampire prince. And it looks like I’m caught right in the middle . . .

A good beginning of a sequel series to the Baton Rouge Vampire
Bear with me because this could be a bit confusing. The initial series is a trilogy that begins with Taken by the Vampire King, and it takes place in Baton Rouge. The Baton Rouge King is Nicolas Dupont. The Baton Rouge Vampire series is Nic and Leia’s love story.
Our MMC, Sebastian, is Nic’s brother. After some royal fuckery in that series, Sebastian is basically banished to New Orleans as Nic’s regent, with instructions to do what he must to shore up Nic’s rule in NOLA, and that is how the original series ends. Our new series, The Vampires of Baton Rouge actually takes place in New Orleans and begins with Sebastian and Kayla’s love story. Each book in this series will feature a different couple, and characters from the first series do make appearances in this series. I just think they should have subtitled this series Vampires of New Orleans or something besides Baton Rouge. . . But I digress.
While you don’t have to have read the first series to read this one, it would be a much better reading experience if you do. The world building is well done in that series, and it carries over seamlessly into this series. As a reader, I’m already well acquainted with our MMC and I was gratified to see his growth in this series. (Yeah, he’s an arrogant ass in the previous series.) the overarching storyline carries over as well. The author does a good job filling in, but you should read it for yourself to get a better feel for Sebastian’s motivations and feelings of shame and desire to do better. While the last series was about deposing the reigning royals of NOLA, this series is about what happens after the change and how to bring all vampires together under a new monarch.
I quite liked the FMC, Kayla. She is a witch that was contracted to the previous King. She wants nothing more than to get out from under serving vampires, and Sebastian wants nothing more than her. And I loved it all. I do recommend this book, especially if you read, and liked, the previous series.
Sadly I wasn’t able to finish this story. The first 7% of it was full of mindless rambling and info dumping, which isn’t really a good way to start a book. Parts of the second chapter repeated things from the first chapter or repeated things the character in the second chapter learned several pages prior, only for them to repeat right away. All the characters feel the same to me. No one has their own individual feeling, not even secondary characters. Both FMC and MMC struggle slightly with insta love/attraction. MMC has an unknown past to the reader where he wants to prove himself to his brother and the FMC is concerned about the status of her virginity. That being said I could not get hooked into the story and gave up 20% of the way in. Other people may get further and enjoy this book a lot more than I did.
** 4.5 Stars ** Kayla thought she was finally free of the vampire prince she had been bound to for the past 5 years. Then Prince Sebastian Dupont showed up to get things reorganized for his brother, Nic. This was his second chance after trying to unsuccessfully steal his brother’s potential mate, Leia. He had turned her when she asked him to; but she wasn’t his and it hadn’t been his right to make that decision. So he was sent away rather than killed, thanks to his mother’s intervention. Nic had claimed New Orleans as his, so Seb was sent to restore order there as the Prince of New Orleans. This was his chance to prove himself and earn his older brother’s forgiveness.
But when he meets Kayla, he told her that he is her new owner under the contract. He might be willing to negotiate terms for their mutual pleasure, he said, but she is annoyed at his arrogance and is ready to resist him. And she is not the only one ready to give him problems as rogue vampires want him out of there. Will Seb be able to make the changes his brother expects? Will Nic actually see the progress he is trying to make here? Or will his lack of experience become evident as the rogues push back?
DNF- so not worth my time. I kept going thinking maybe something would happen to make this any good and after 200 pages- it just wasn’t worth it to finish. I don’t understand how this has over 4 stars… there was no depth to the characters or the plot and the smut wasn’t even well written… everything was so…. Flat.
Lalya and Sebastian are a blast and have to learn to deal with each other among a few other pesky problems. A good addiction to the series and I enjoyed this story and thought it was a hoot to read. Had to see how it would end. Can never go wrong with sexy vampires.
I finally broke down and got kindle unlimited, and when I did I knew this was the series to go back to.. I enjoyed the first series with the king and now I’m enjoying the second one with the prince. I hope all the books are available.
I didn't think Nic and Leia's story needed to be 3 books, but this one seemed too fast. It didn't seem like a full-length book. I really don't like duets or trilogies on one couple, but this one definitely needed some more meat to the story. It was good to see Sebastián redeemed. We didn't get to see hardly any of Kayla's witch skills. I think we only saw 2 minor ones, which was pretty disappointing.
The book needs a good editing. There were some errors, but many things could have been worded differently. I also don't get why the series is Vampires of Baton Rouge, when it is set in NOLA.
One final nit-picky comment: taking a G6 business jet from BR to NOLA would be like taking a limo to the grocery store in your neighborhood. Gulfstream jets are designed to be long-range and top of the line. While they are frequently used for short flights, too, the pilots wouldn't get to cruising altitude before descending for the 80 to 100 mile flight. With the hassle of dealing with airport traffic, etc., it might be faster to drive. Flying from private air strips would help that. Kudos on going with a G6 and not a Bombardier!
I really enjoyed this book. Sebastian Dupont is the younger brother of the Vampire King, Nicolas Dupont. He was exiled from his home after he turned a woman who wasn't his but one he thought he loved into a vampire after she asked him to. Nic sends him to New Orleans to regain order after he claimed the city as his. Sebastian is determined to prove himself. Kayla is a witch who in desperation had signed herself to the previous vampires in power. Now that Sebastian had changed everything, was she actually free, or does she just get a new master? She would like freedom, but Sebastian and his brother aren't willing to let her slip away. I enjoyed the dynamic between these two. Sebastian and Kayla have good chemistry, even in the beginning when she had her walls up and was determined not to like him while still being drawn to him. But the more she got to know him, the more as she saw how different he is from the vampires who had controlled her before. An enjoyable read. 5 stars.
Sebastian is running away from a mistkae. Well not so much running as being sent away by his brother. He's aware that he is something of a wreck and also the perenial second best after his older brother Nic. He tries hard but it just seems if something can mess up for him, it does. He is now determined to grow up and change. Although that is hard when your mistake is still walking about and reminding you of your stupidity. It is what it is though. He's been given a task to do and he means to do it. New place, new start and he is pretty much poleaxed on day one when Kayla walks into the bar. Kayla has more than one of her own secrets to deal with. She is under contract to the royal Vampire line but she's been away a week and a lot has changed. That and the fact that there is a rather hot vampire now in control and she's not certain about her control when she's near him. Recipe for disaster, table one please!
OK... so I decided to give the previous book's antagonist, Sebastian a chance and see if he could slither his way into my good graces. I'm happy to say that he did!
NOLA witch, Kayla was the perfect love interest for Sebastian. She was the perfect mix of sass and independence that I think Sebastian needed as these two were basically the same; outcasts. I loved them two together.
If I had any critical views about this book its that the author made Sebastian a little too remorseful for his actions in the last book. I understand that he had something to prove but his need to constantly seek approval and atone for his misdeed in the last book got on my nerves a little bit. I'm glad that he got his happily ever after. As I continue with the next book in this series, I hope that he gets a stronger backbone and becomes more sure of himself and his actions as the new Regent to the King.
I came into this series without having read anything by this author, and it’s a good book I didn’t have too much trouble picking up the back story. The romance was quite sweet and I liked Kayla. In the whole it’s a good read. What I didn’t like about it was the lack of any real movement on plot lines. Kayla is locked into a contract so being attracted to the guy holding the contract smacks of indentured servitude, nothing was done about that contract and she very quickly conveniently forgot it. He lied by omission, she told him she can’t trust him and then promptly sleeps with him and again it’s all conveniently forgotten. The vampires that went after her Sebastian issued an order to have them killed, nothing is mentioned again. The vampire that attacked her, he was an old one and important plot point, but she never tells him about him. It feels unfinished.
I like the storyline of the series but the individual stories kinda seem to miss lots of the story that maybe more interesting and harder too put down. In this story if they had just one less sex scene before he turned her, maybe the learning about her magic could have been expanded to her actually doing something with her magic... It was a wee bit boring reading about a witch who did no magic, well she lit a candle and opened a hiding space. I had hoped for a bit more exciting adventures but it was very wishy washy and only two exciting things happened and there was no retribution for the attack on his mate... I'm slowly getting through the series but the stories seem to jump after each vampire turns his mate into the next story so there is no transition...
This was an incredible story of fated mates, steamy scenes and dangers all around. Sebastian is prince sent into exile to do important business for his brother the king. Kayla is a witch that is just trying to survive with dangerous supernaturals all around her. With rebellious gangster vampires trying to over throw the new kings power over the city, Sebastian forces Kayla into his protection and as their under contract witch. They learn along the way through dangerous situation they are mates and can’t t stand the thought of being without each other.

This is a NON-SPOILER REVIEW of Ruthless Prince by Roxie Ray and Lindsey Devin. This is the first book in the Vampires of Baton Rouge, a spin-off of Baton Rouge Vampire. We first meet Sebastian in Nic and Leia's story, I absolutely love that his story is next. I really couldn't put the book down. Action, drama, serious character chemistry, intrigue, sexy banter and then there's the whole bad boy redemption thing. Seb and Kayla have a way to go and if Nic and Leia's story is anything to go by, it is going to be a wild ride! Mature Readers Only Please...

I couldn't wait for this book to come out. I was intrigued by his character , since (Stolen by the vampire series) I HONESTLY wanted more of his back story. Kayla did dark magic etc, but we really didn't see her do any real magic🤔... I just think Sébastien needed at least a 3 book series to do his character justice. But overall it was entertaining. There's plenty of steam in it. The next one is kyle I'm going read it, it's looks like it will have more action in it.
Started off great with minor grammatical errors, then at about 70% it just went flat and boring, next book is about Kyle, so I guess Kayla and Sebastian’s story does not get finished, just left out there to guess about. Overarching plot slightly fleshed out, I guess the turning of Kayla was this books subplot, but nothing else was solved. Will put next book on tbr list for when it releases, but it’s not a top priority book.
This book seemed a bit rushed in relation to the previous books. I was slightly disappointed because Sebastian’s character had layers and depth that really wasn’t explored in this book. One really gets a better idea of his character when he was a supporting character… and as a lead, he fizzles in a markedly poignant way here.
The story was good, but having read the previous books in this series, I got the impression that the author really threw this one together. It was disappointing.
A little slow to start, but it picks up and starts to get really interesting once you understand that there's more to the story 😉. This has got some fabulous characters, intense moments and the lead heroine is guaranteed to be one bad-assed witch, once she learns that 😄. Thanks so much Roxie and Lindsey, I'm so looking forward to reading more of this series 🤓.
Ruthless Prince: A Paranormal Vampire Romance (. Vampires of Baton Rouge Book 1)
I really enjoyed reading this book a lot! There are witches, werewolves and of course Vampires which makes a kind of sticky mess. I loved that Kayla got to sing in their new club. Seems like things are starting to shape up for Sebastian and Kala. Can’t wait to read the next book in the series to see what is going to happen next! Well worth the read!
Awesome storyline. As he was exiled to punish him for his bad action; he has also fallen to the mercy of the King also his brother. He needs to make amends, buffalo to the rebels and to his mate. Filled with action, drama, .mystery, shape we and did I say drama. I don't know Sabashtian can you do better? Maybe now that you got a witch on your payroll.😉 I think I need to read the previous stories.
I was hoping Sebastian's book would be better than Nic's but unfortunately it came up short. The story is short ut definitely kept me intrigued but I felt that it came up short. Kayla went from being snobbish and standoffish to head over heels for Sebastian extremely quickly which is why my rating is 3 stars. There wasn't much build up between the 2. And for the love of God why is every single lead female in these books are a virgin? I see Kyle's book also has a virgin lead.
After being sent away from Baton Rouge, Sebastian needs to prove himself to his brother the vampire king. Kayla makes him realize that his mate can change everything. I love this new book in this Vampire series. Sebastian and Kayla are wonderful together.

It was great reading about Sebastian finally finding love. After the mess up with his brother the poor guy needed some positive in his life. Definitely worth the read. I can’t wait to see what happens next in New Orleans with the leadership change.

This was great. I normally don't read vampire books, but this book was exciting to read. The way the plot escalated from chapter to chapter was exciting. The characters were awesome as well. There was a lot of suspense and passion throughout the entire book. Excellent reading and writing.
