I’ve always been fascinated by Jack The Ripper. I guess because he was never caught. It’s still a mystery to this day. I have to say I really enjoyed this book with its paranormal twist on the Ripper and Mary Kelly case.
This book premise is so unique and entertaining. If your looking for something totally out of the norm you need to jump on this one.
It is heavily into BDSM and it’s lifestyle. So be warned.

SHE WAS LIKE A MOTH TO HIS FLAME

Ms. Delta James has penned a unique and page-turning series of paranormal events and characters. The story is the second book, and I would strongly recommend reading the first one, Advance, to fully understand the unique characters and concept—because this continues into this book, without over telling from book one. The story will have people from the first book, but this one will mainly focus on DSI Michael Holmes and Dr. Rachel Moriarty.

Dr. Rachel Moriarty, a former history professor from the United States, has been a resident of England for five years. She left her tenure due to a false accusation that would permanently mar her career and accepted a payout. Because of her extensive study and familiarity with British history, she conducts private and specialized tours—including one highlighting Jack the Ripper and some of his victims—including his last known, Mary Jane Kelly.

The story’s plot will have Rachel going to Scotland Yard, and as a joke, someone places her with DSI Holmes. He gets them a room at the Savoy, gets Roark and Sage involved, and together, they will all listen to what Rachel has been experiencing since her last tour of Mary Kelly’s place. At least once they get over the name issues, he listens to her, takes what she is saying seriously, and doesn’t hesitate. It seems she has become a tether from the otherworld to the present for an apparition.

“You might want to do what Michael tells you. I think you may have awakened the sleeping Dom. You’re frightened, you didn’t tell him everything, and you may be in danger.”

Holmes: I will only say this once. Under no circumstances are you to go back to your flat by yourself. Either Roark or I will go with you to collect some of your things.
Rachel: You can’t tell me that I can’t go home.
Holmes: I can and I will—to keep you safe. You’ll follow my instructions, or there will be discipline—and not the fun kind. Am I clear?
Rachel: Who do you think you are? This is getting out of hand!

Roark: Don’t tell me you can’t spot your own happily ever after when it walks into Scotland Yard.
Holmes: She is rather spectacular, isn’t she?
Roark: And she seemed to respond rather well when you quit thinking with your ____ and let your Dom take over.
Holmes: She did, didn’t she?

Rachel: As much as I appreciate the lunch and the nap, I do need to get home
Holmes: I went to your place and packed a bag for you, then went by my place to get what I would need for a few days. I put our things in the room.
Rachel: You can’t just decide to move me out of my flat and into a shared room with you.
Holmes: I think you’ll find that I can and did.

The story will revolve around a freak paranormal event, and now Rachel is its target, putting her life in danger. Once Rachel and Holmes are together, he will do whatever it takes to keep her safe. These two have instant erotic chemistry that adds the perfect sizzle to this tale—and that includes a dominant and submissive relationship with discipline. I love how their friends are supportive and involved—each taking a risk to protect Rachel. Evil comes during the witching hour, and they are ready, but this thing is gaining in strength and will require more than just telling it to go away. Outside help will be needed—a touch of magic and faith.

“When you’ve eliminated the impossible, you’re left with the improbably as the truth.”

“The veil is said to separate the mundane, material world in which we live from the spiritual world on the other side.”

The story has matters of life and death due to paranormal entities, a strict, take control Dominant, well-earned punishments, and sizzling hot explicit sex scenes. It does not end on a cliffhanger but gives the reader a satisfying conclusion. And that won’t be the end—this is a new series, and the next book, Submission, in The Paranormal Mystery, will feature another character from Sage’s bestseller books!

“Negotiation” is a clever, witty and sizzling hot paranormal mystery story from Delta James. If you had the pleasure of reading “Best Seller” (later expanded into “Advance”) then you’ll recognize some of the secondary characters and locations, but you definitely do not need to have read that book in order to enjoy this one. It’s a paranormal novel; be prepared to indulge in a great mix of reality, fantasy, folklore, history, suspense and otherworldly intrigue.

Rachel Moriarty is an American college professor who moved permanently to England five years ago, for reasons she doesn’t like to discuss. She’s a history expert who gives specialized tours, one of which focuses on the notorious Jack the Ripper and the murders he committed in Victorian England. A bizarre experience during one of those tours leads her to pay a visit to Scotland Yard, where she is assigned to Detective Michael Holmes. He’s a man with a reputation for solving difficult cases. He also has a rather mysterious background. His past is an important part of the book, so I don’t want to write much about it, except to say that it’s extraordinary and unusual. Both Rachel and Michael have strong, well-defined personalities. The chemistry between them and the events in the story combine to firmly shove them both outside their comfort zones.
The last name Holmes is familiar to most people as being linked to Detective Sherlock Holmes of the famous book series – and whose arch-nemesis was Professor Moriarty. An array of clever names are something of a running joke in the series that consistently works.

I thought this book was an entertaining blend of lighthearted and intense. The juxtaposition of the different types of elements is well-done and certainly engaging. This story has insta-lust and insta-love, elements of D/s and consensual domestic discipline. We’re told that the heroine is 40 years old and although I don’t remember reading the hero’s age, it seemed to be similar. I think it fit the story much better than if they would have been younger. There are complicated elements in this book, but it’s so well put together that it’s easy to read. The teaser at the end of the story definitely has me looking forward to the next book in this series.

I read an advance copy of this story and I’m sharing my honest opinion of it.

This.Was.Fantastic!!! I loved it!! We the readers, get to spend more time with the Characters that were created by the Fictional Author Sage Matthews. The Savoy hotel in London is home to her and her husband Roark Samuels. This is the story of another of the characters that were brought off the page and into the real world. DSI Michael Holmes is helping Rachel Moriarty with a problem that she has acquired since visiting the room of Mary Kelly. The last victim of Jack the Ripper. This story was so cool!! And a perfect situation for the time of Halloween! I loved this exciting, little scary, with emotional upheaval for all!

A simply riveting, cleverly written read with great characters and plot
I thoroughly enjoyed every bit of this book it was something quite different by Delta James and I highly recommend the read, you will love the characters and the plot will hold you riveted right to the very end of the book.
Rachel Moriarty is in London and has been running a very innovative and unusual tour business where she takes tourists to visit places of interest as they are given all of the correct details about the sinister and history of places on her tour routes.
She is visiting the very infamous home that had once belonged to Mary Kelly who had been unfortunate enough to go into history books as the very last supposed victim of the deadly and extremely infamous Jack The Ripper. In her job it is very fair to say that Rachel has come across some extremely strange things including seeing a ghostly apparition.
Imagine her surprise when she reaches Scotland Yard to give the details of the ghostly apparition to one of the officers and finds herself speaking with no other than the aptly named DSI Holmes, who admittedly was Michael and not Sherlock but even she had felt strange goosebumps at the unlikeliness of the name similarities to the history.
Holmes is convinced that what she is seeing is real and it seem that since the mirror has been broken the Ripper cannot use this to return to his time in the zone. This is a very cleverly written book and I love the fact that the name of the characters are also similar to those of the original characters in history.
I assure you that once you start reading the book you will be totally entranced and unable to put the book down until you discover the final outcome.
I assure you that you will love every moment of this book it is simply a fantastic read.
I voluntarily received and review an Advanced Reader Copy
I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the great writing.

This book was seriously entertaining and right up there with
one of the most quirky paranormal romance book that I have
ever read. I should not have been surprised that this talented
author could send me into a spin, but she did just that and so
much more. The story was rich with imagery, complexity, and
imagination. I suggest reading book one to familiarize yourself
with the characters and their backgrounds. This is not a long
read, but it was truly entertaining and needed all my attention
to get on top of the storyline. Once I had this under control, it
was smooth sailing.

Dr Rachel Moriarty was a discrased professor now living and
working in London. She gives small private tours in the seedier
parts of London. When Rachel finds a powerful evil force trying
to harm her she is so unnerved that she recruit Detective Michael
Holmes from Scotland yard to protect and solve the mystery.

Michael's attraction to Rachel was immediate. She awakened the
sleeping Dom. He realized that Rachel was deeply submissive, but
oh how she struggled. He would do anything in his power to protect
her including enlisting the help of his friends Roark and Sage. Here
is were you need to believe that a veil can exist between two worlds
and try and make sense between the unexplainable where the past
and present connect causing an electrifying conclusion.

I felt that the secondary characters played an intrinsic part and added
depth to this story. Loved the concept with it's a constant build-up and
plot development. Except the unexpected.

'Negotiation' is the second book in Delta James' "Paranormal Mystery" series and truthfully, if you haven't started reading this you're doing yourself a disservice. DSI Holmes from Scotland Yard has sent a Rachel Moriarty to him, probably thinking it would be funny to have the fictional nemesis meeting, but Rachel had a problem. She owns a personalized tour business and while giving a tour ever since she gave the tour of the last known Jack the Ripper murder strange things have been happening. So much so she hasn't been able to sleep in over a week. Feeling ridiculous trying to explain this to DSI Holmes, he assures her she's not insane. As a matter of fact, Michael Holmes is personally aware of the veil between the worlds but will Rachel run if she finds out the truth before he can keep her safe? This is such an awesome book. It's thrilling with just enough mysticism and chill factor that it kept me turning pages to see what would happen but then there's also a bit of domestic discipline that added to the chemistry between these two characters that kept the relationship part of the equation sizzling. I can't wait to see who comes next.

Michael Holmes is a Scotland Yard Detective. Rachel Moriarty is an owner of a tour company, and when she is dealing with a malicious spirit haunting her, she reaches out for help, and Holmes steps up. It is love at first sight for him, and she is soon on board. Roark Samuels and other characters from Advance help, along with her college roommate, but you will have to read the book to find out more.
The cover got my attention. The first paragraph drew me in. This book is incredible. I'm a big fan of Delta James, and have read most of her books. Beautifully written, this is my favorite. The Hero is over the top, but that is exactly as he should be. Rachel is feisty, and perfect for him. If I could give this book six stars, I would. It is that good.

This whole series puts a very delicious twist on the term "book boyfriend". I wish either Roark Samuels or DSI Holmes would step out of Delta's book and come visit me! But to our business, this is the second book in the Best Seller series and it tells the story of Holmes and Rachel Moriarty (don't you just love the name play?) Haunted by a specter after visiting the site of Jack the Ripper's last murder scene, Rachel is at her wits' end. She is desperate enough to visit the Scotland Yard where she meets Michael Holmes.
Holmes, like Roark, only came out of Sage Matthews' books recently, and had been on "the other side of the veil" most of his existence. Now that he's out in the real world, he is a Dom that isn't looking to get attached.
But Rachel brings something out of him, meeting her makes him think about finally settling down. Rachel came to England to re-invent her life after she braved a scandal back home.
The last thing she was expecting to find going to a police station was a sexy, dominant guy who is very quick claiming her as his own. In order to vanquishe the specter, the whole gang will need to put their heads together and find a way to save Rachel so she and Holmes can find their HEA. I loved this book; as usual with Delta James books we have a strong, smart and capable h and a alpha dominant but caring and sweet H. Their adventures sucked me in and I found myself wishing the book wouldn't end. It's a good thing "Submission" is about to be realesed soon!

Delta James has created a wonderfully intriguing new series that is quite unique yet still includes all the quintessential must-have elements of a Delta book – a determined, protective alpha male; a smart, feisty heroine; an engaging supporting cast of characters; and the perfect blend of adventure, danger, steam and romance.

In Negotiation, a scandal has driven Rachel Moriarty from her career as a history professor in the United States all the way across the sea to London where she leverages her knowledge of the past to run a tour group company. When she encounters a wicked spirit that targets her, she finally finds someone at Scotland Yard who believes her and is willing to help. Roark Holmes quickly assumes responsibility for protecting Rachel, despite her protests, and together they work to contain the evil.

You can absolutely read Negotiation as a standalone, but Delta always does a great job of weaving characters from the preceding books of a series into the storyline of her latest. This book is no different, and meeting characters from Advance adds to the enjoyment level. The play on the Holmes/Moriarty pairing is fun as well. It’s another entertaining read and I’m looking forward to the next in the series.

I absolutely adored this story by Delta James, her characters just pop from the pages of Sage's books. Sage and Roark Samuels are permanent residents of the Savoy Hotel, and Roark, Michael Holmes to name a few came from Sage's books and another plane. Rachel was conducting tours when her last address was the last space known to have had the murderer Jack the Ripper. It's all downhill for Rachel from there. She seeks help from Scotland yard and his coworker thought it would be great fun to assign Michael Holmes to victim Rachel Moriarty. During this entertaining story we get to meet quite a few people that appeared from Sage's books, a witch who will play an important role in helping with possibilities to the problem Rachel is experiencing. There is also a very sexy attraction between Holmes and Moriarty, not to mention the strong, loving D/s relationship that Sage and Roark have. I encourage you to read this book, it will keep your attention with the mystery, danger, paranormal activity and a great smattering of sext D/s relations. Don't miss it!

Negotiation by D. James is the second book in the Paranormal Mystery Series. The previous book is Advance, Sage's story.
Negotiation tells Rachel's story. The american college professor cam to the UK years ago. Current experiences lead her to Michael Holmes. He's a Detective with Scotland Yard and so it begins.
Negotiation is a fast paced, drama and action packed pnr read that gave me all the feels, checked all my boxes. A great read, 4,5 stars.

Best Series Ever!

I love this series so far! Sage Matthews initially wrote the characters into a novel. Those characters came to life during book 1 of the series. She named them after Sherlock Holmes characters. Everyone they meet in their adventures finds it funny.

Rachel Moriarty seems to have found a new "friend" in the spirit of Jack the Ripper. She thinks she is going crazy, so she enlists the help of DSI agent Michael Holmes. Holmes is a Dom with a capital D, and he has his sights set on making Rachel his submissive. Rachel is a little unsure, but when she feels safe with him and Jack the Ripper's spirit doesn't like Holmes, she thinks it may be a good idea to become his.

Heat, mystery, and enough paranormal aspects and historical aspects to please the pickiest connoisseur. All of this contained in a fast-paced story that will keep you on the edge of your seat in anxiety and delicious delight from beginning to end. As a Sir Arthur Conan Doyle fan, I loved how the author gave a contemporary twist to the tale. This book can be read as a stand-alone, but you don’t want to miss what preceded this release. Bravo to one of my favorite one-click authors - her trademark attention to detail is the crowning touch to each of her books.

This book, the 2nd in the series, has a strong paranormal mystery aspect to it. Normally, that type of book is not my favorite but Delta delivered it in such a superb way I am a total fan!

The story between Rachel and Holmes was fantastic, and also I love that when he knew he had made mistakes he owned up to them! They are a fantastic couple and I loved seeing Sage and Roark again too!

How tightly woven all the characters are within one another is a great aspect of these books.

I read this as part as this firsts anthology. Which is kind of odd considering this is book two of a series.

Technically, yes, this is a stand alone. But it definitely wouldn't have hurt to have read the first book first. I was so confused in the beginning when Holmes was talking about being a character in a book that was written to be like he was, but he was also real now. It gets explained a little more the more read, but then it gets repeated over and over and over. At that point it's like, I get it!

One thing about how this was written that bugged me a lot was how the author kept going back and forth between using a character's first name and their last name. I'm terrible with names in real life, and often times worse when I read. So when you keep switching it like that, sometimes within the same paragraph, I'm gonna be like 'who?' and then move on without caring anymore. But it was annoying to me none the less.

This book started off well enough, but quickly got to the point where I was bored and skimming pages just to see how they would deal with the spirit. I thought it was absolutely ridiculous that Holmes and Rachel were professing their love to each other after not even knowing each other for two days and only spending a couple hours in each other's presence. For crying out loud, Rachel is wearing his collar and his ring before they even had ONE date! And they're imagining the rest of the lives together almost immediately? I know this is fiction, but that's just so stupid and I hate when this happens because the characters know absolutely nothing about the other but I'm supposed to believe that they will never love another? Please. As for the way that Holmes treats Rachel, I couldn't stand it. I get that it can be part of that life style, and if that's your thing I'm not judging. But there is absolutely no way in hell I would be with a man that talked to me and treated me the way Holmes and his best friend did the women outside of the bedroom. No fucking way. And I'm not even remotely a feminist.

The premise of this was actually kind of neat. Rachel leads private guided tours to various places around the city. Her last tour to the place Mary Kelly was killed by Jack the Ripper ends with her having a spirit attached to her who comes to her nightly and is getting stronger and stronger. She goes to the cops because she doesn't know what else to do, but immediately feels silly. But the detective Holmes that she meets not only believes her, but he vows to protect her. These two are obviously immediately attracted to each other. Holmes is dominate though and he wants to make sure that Rachel understands exactly what that means for them if they are to be together in any way. I was always so frustrated with Rachel when she did exactly what he told her to do even before she looked up what that sort of relationship would entail and signed his contract. At this point, she just met him and she is already letting him take control of her life. Even moving into a hotel with him. Much of the book ends up being about the relationship between these two and what's expected behavior from Rachel. At the end we really get back to the spirit and what has to be done to make it detach itself from Rachel. Yes, it seemed like it was super easy and over with really quick, but it was pretty neat at the same time.

This is book two of A Paranormal Mystery series and sees the other worldly characters from the first book, DSI Michael Holmes of Scotland Yard, Roark Samuels who is now Sage Matthews husband and Felix Spenser the head concierge at the Savoy Hotel in London, all end up working together with Gabe Watson, in another paranormal adventure. This time Holmes is passed a case of a Rachel Moriarty amidst much hilarity about their names, a former professor from the States, who now does private tours to old buildings and places for select clients. She had recently visited the room of the dead prostitute Mary Kelly, the last known victim of Jack the Ripper, when something strange happened. Every night since, she has been visited by a strange and evil presence who can access her locked patio doors. It had gotten her so frightened that she had at last come to Scotland Yard for some assistance. She is reluctant to go into everything fully, thinking that no one will believe her, it sounds so preposterous to even her own ears.
Holmes accompanies back to her apartment and sees the evil presence that is following her that night. This presence is able to get through the veil between our world and the next during the witching hours and is obviously seeking to use Rachel to get into the world fully if it can. As Holmes and Samuels check out the haunted site of Mary Kelly’s death, a cracked mirror gives reason for concern and they end up moving Rachel into the Savoy, where Roark and Sage live in a private suite of their own. Gabe and Felix are there to help protect her whilst the other two men carry out their investigations into the matter. Holmes also finds Rachel Moriarty very attractive and wants to introduce her to his Dom and Sub lifestyle, but Samuels warns him he should tell her about where he came from before they get too far into each other! Moriarty and Holmes must try to cut the tether that Jack the Ripper has on Rachel, but she will need a little help from a friend in Ireland and her ancestral banshees. An explicit description of the Dom/Sub lifestyle, which many who have read the first book in the series will already know about from the relationship between Sage and Roark, as well as their paranormal existence. A definite change from what you might have expected from Baker Street and Scotland Yard, with an altogether fascinating twist on that world of old and modern day, with a historical crime that has bled into and is endangering Moriarty’s life and the paranormal to boot. I look forward to reading more of their adventures in the rest of this series. Great for those who love a bit of murder mystery and also the paranormal. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

Magical suspense and Hot Dominant Cop alert 😍😍

This series is freaking fascinating and amazing. Each book just gets more thrilling and addicting for sure.
Hotter than fire heroes all from the pages of books come out in the real world.

This one has DSI Micheal Holmes coming across a very unusual case. But what really has his total attention is the beautiful woman who's come in with the complaint and problem.

Rachel Moriarty runs the tour business. By taking people on tours of the historic places well known and giving them an interesting experience.

But during one such tour something unusual happened that gave her the chills but she didn't think anything of it. But now every night her balcony doors open up and it's like someone watching her. She's has no idea what's happening to her and is scared. Noboby would even believe her and she hopes that the DSI of Scotland yard would be able to help her.

What she doesn't know is that the DSI himself didn't exist in the real world until last year. Homes being a supernatural creature from the pages of a book himself believes that there is definitely something otherworldly harassing Rachel.

Together with the help of Roark Samuels, Sage, Gabe, Felix they prepare a plan to protect Rachel and also start investigating what this might be that's troubling Rachel.

This one was such a freaking amazing suspense ride filled with magic and thrill.
Also a very Bossy Cop who is a dominant and his submissive and naughty hot times. ♨️🔥

I just can't get enough of this delicious series. Oh so excited for the next one. Loved loved this one. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

We’re back at the Savoy hotel in London, with the fictional characters turned real. This time it’s DSI Michael Holmes who is in the spotlight.
Holmes thinks it’s a joke when a constable hands off a case with a Dr. Rachel Moriarty as the victim. Despite the name coincidence, Rachel isn’t there because of a joke, but rather because she seems to have caught the eye of a malevolent evil, which might have ties to Jack the Ripper.
His own origins make Holmes a very open minded person, and once he sets eyes on Rachel, he wants to make sure that she not only survives the case, but that she has every opportunity to become his sub…

As with book one, this is a paranormal romance with light elements of BDSM (think spankings and dominance), but it’s really mostly about the formerly fictional characters created by Sage (heroine of book one) dealing with life in the real world. Of course, the paranormal elements do make this less ‘real’ world and more fantasy, and it’s all in good fun- although the characters manage to make the ten hour plus drive from London to Limerick in record time!
Timing issues aside, it’s a quick read, and a relatively light one. The dangerous aspects to the case are never fully realized, and it makes for an enjoyable fantasy read. The characters are fun, especially with the names, and the settings, and it was nice to see Roarke and Sage again.

An entertaining read for the paranormal romance fans, who like a little spice to their romances.

Michael Holmes is a respected DSI at Scotland Yard who has a little bit of celebrity due to his name and ability to solve crimes. Professor Rachel Moriarty was the subject of gossip five years ago when she lost her tenured professorship and so now is in London concentrating on building an exclusive tour business. Michael is intrigued by the woman who bears the last name of his literary rival. The veil between the worlds is weakening and something is trying to come through - it has found the key to unlocking the door and intends to use Rachel's innocence to re-enter this world. Can Holmes and Moriarty work together to finally put an end to the evil that was Jack the Ripper?

I have to say up front that my first thought was that anything with characters with the names Holmes and Moriarty was going to be corny and painful to read. Thankfully I was wrong and I loved the story from the paranormal nature of Holmes to the paranormal nature of the emergence of Jack the Ripper to the way that Holmes was a Dom who expected certain behaviour from Moriarty. There was enough drama and danger around the Jack the Ripper emergence as well as the more minor developing relationship between Holmes and Moriarty. Easy to read and understand, this story contained mature contents of a BDSM-like nature.

Our hero and heroine may be rivals only based on literary inference, but there is more to it than meets the eye. Still, it is enough to kick start a relationship, but it will have to grow into a real partnership if they are going to survive this challenge.

This is book two in the series but it does fine as a standalone. I could see references to things past (I have not read the previous books), but had no problems catching all the essentials.

This is an excellent romantic suspense story with some strong paranormal elements. The story is well written and easy to read, with a plot that delivers the right amount of action and suspense to keep the reader guessing about what will happen next. The characters are also well written, with fully developed personalities and quirks. Our heroine is strong and resourceful on her own, which I really like, but they have even better chemistry once they are together. Overall, I found this to be a highly enjoyable read and I look forward to reading other books in the series.

Highly recommended.

Holmes, Moriarty and the Ripper!

What a great trifecta for a paranormal story. I loved the second book in Paranormal Mystery series. It starts off with the death of Jack the Ripper’s last victim, Mary Kelly and the resulting cliff hanger to her death and then fast forwards to the present with the story of DSI Holmes and Dr Moriarty. I love their names. The past collides with the present which leads to a great story plot which was well laid out and well written. The jumbled up cauldron mix of a person who has been wronged in her life but is rebuilding it in London, strong alpha men who literally came from the pages of a book and a deranged attached spirit all lead to an action packed, steamy but romantic read. Well worth it. I would think this book could be read alone, but because it brings back characters from the first book in the series, I believe the reader will get way more enjoyment from reading it first.

I received a copy of this book from BookFunnel in exchange for my review.
