What if Harry understood his “freaky accidents” when he was young and began controlling them? How would this impact his first year at Hogwarts? *Warning for: child abuse, implied sexual assault of a minor, and descriptions of violence.
This begins the most realistic depiction of a guardian trying to care for an emotionally, physically, and sexually abused preteen that I have ever read. Which makes it difficult, sometimes. And yet it is beautiful, and funny, and absolutely worth the tears. I'm completely addicted to this series, listening to it using Pocketbook as my screenreader, and have blasted through the first two in a similar number of days.
If you can handle the warnings, and a truly grey Harry, this fic is a keeper.
Something about harry potter fanfics just really hits.
This is a retelling of the sorcerer’s stone. There are plenty of small changes, but the biggest is that harry is a traumatized little kid. He faced abuse and lived on the streets, and snape is the one that saves him.
I really enjoy how this book approaches harry and snapes relationship. It shows the slow building if trust between a traumatized kid and a surly adult.
I also enjoy how this challenges the good vs evil dichotomy. Mr. Harry potter is morally grey in this and i adore it.
I’m a fan. I feel a little brainless for enjoying this so much, but its good stuff. Definitely will keep binge reading this fic.
Great ideas, great character development. The personality of each character was somewhat accurate to the plot, even though it was truly employed unalike.
The PTSD search was on point. I am truly amazed on how astonishing the trauma symptoms were accurate, as much as Snape’s experience to help Potter deal with it.
The plot though was quickly and poorly executed with rush until sometimes it wouldn’t make any sense.
I stayed for the twisted Harry Potter, and the schemes he plotted with Severus.
I LOVED IT! Harry is cunning, loyal, brave and is slowly making his mark. His duel that first night was epic. Then he actually duplicated the stone and fooled both voldermort AND dumbledore!!! I didn't even see that twist coming! I can't wait to see how 2nd year goes. Although his PTSD is really severe. I hope the next book focuses on him finding a solution or even going to see someone. Dumbledore’s bias would have gotten him killed. Snape saved him, I think it should be a life debt. The clothes shopping, the bargains, teaching him how to get through panic attacks, advising him on how to get minerva on his side.

When I "attempt" to explain to someone how I can read SO MUCH HP FF, it is because of stories like this. Stories that recreate a world I am so familiar with, but turn it on its head and stun my face with a smile or twist my heart with longing.
Throw in a Severus who learns to be protective of Harry, a more traumatized and powerful Harry, and some new friends/house sortings? This book is amazing.
To anybody debating whether or not to read this book, I highly recommend. It is one of my favorite stories of all time, and the author is an absolute queen. It gives a full spectrum of emotions and you could easily find yourself laughing and crying along with the characters. There are so many raw emotions and feelings that were expressed so well you would think they were real and personal. Reading this book, you will fall in love with these characters and their shenanigans. While the description may not be fore everyone, this story definitely is and just because of the way it was written you won’t want to put it down. Even if you’ve never read Harry Potter, I really think it is such a good experience to read this story and grow as a person along with the characters. I will be fangirling about this book and it’s author until the day I die, so go check it out because I didn’t just go and make a good reads account for nothing, and it’s the best way to spend the free time you don’t have.
The first of the 7 Years of Chaos series. We enter the world of magic and Hogwarts with Harry from the perspective of him discovering magic much earlier but also suffering abuse in Privet Drive.
This is a very different Harry from Canon and that has an impact on his introduction to the wizarding world and those he meets.
The author has an amazing ability to create new characters and worlds from those we already know. A different stance on Snape and a wonderful original Susan Bones.
Warning: this does deal with difficult issues but does not glamorise or promote them.
An absolutely delightful take on "what-if" and I loved every unhinged second of Harry Potter being a badass. He went from diminutive, shy, awkward to dark, dangerous and powerful within the blink of an eye and I was eating it up every single time.
Also, Harry and Sererus's relationship/mentorship in this? chef's kiss 🤌🏻
Great Severitus. I liked that it was a retelling of year 1 in Hogwarts but it was definitely different from the original. This Harry went through so much before arriving at Hogwarts, and it makes me sad to know that the bad things are only starting for him. But he has Severus on his side ♥️ I’ll read year 2 now.
Remember this by: Harry doesn’t have allies, he has a ha gang 😂
It has its ups, but it’s full of bad spelling, americanisms, and use of an obscene German word for wizardkind. The writing is so-so, sometimes you have to back up a little to reread a tiny detail. The plot is… okay, but rather meh at parts and especially the end.
It started a little slow, a lot of backstory and worldbuilding in this au. (Which I don't mind, and definitally is necissary to understand Harry in this story) but when the plot picked up, I found myself quite enjoying it! Good fanfic! Can't wait to read the rest!
Completely chaotic, brill, and just plain wonderful worldbuilding. Better Potter than the books by a mile. The only critique I've got is that there aren't a dozen more of these books!
