Ah, our fine fighting friends, the Excoms, always ready to deal with any problem others have trouble taking care of. They easily deal with kidnapping, human exploitation, oppression of any folk, but not Everybody is happy with their results! After a mission is finished with fabulous results, someone realizes that these people will always be in His way, and sends out orders for their execution. The explosion outside while they are sound asleep is just a start to the dance to the death planned for our heroes!
There are those hurt, lost, assumed dead, but are they truly finished??...An exciting story with characters you come to love, scenes straight out of an action movie, plot twists that have you grabbing hold of your seat, and action that has you grinning at the result!! You can count the Excoms down, But Do NOT Ever count them Out!!!!

I love the Excoms! I just wish I didn't have to wait 3 or 4 years for the next one.

This one was about a billionaire who tried to kill the team and the Committee, and it was up the Ananke and the team to catch the bad guy and turn him and his second-in-command over to the military.

No romance and no swearing to speak of.

As for the narration: Allyson Johnson could try a little harder to sound manly and to read with more emotions. There was sooo many places where she should have been whispering and didn't. That is truly terrible.

I've enjoyed all of the ExCom novels (a spin-off series from the Quinn series), and this is quite possibly the best. There's a strong Mission Impossible vibe to the story - an intricate plan to defeat a shadowy organization, split-second timing, a seamless team, and even impersonations.

The characters are interesting, and each member of the team gets a section of the book written from their viewpoint; this allows for more growth and differentiation of the cast. The action sequences are well choreographed (and I appreciate that Battles keeps the body count down - thankfully unlike many thrillers where the "good guys" are trigger happy sociopaths). The plotting and writing make for the kind of momentum that keeps you reading.

And, without leaving any spoilers, Battles fixes what has been the most glaring problem in the series: a character who is the Jar Jar Binks of thrillers.

Thoroughly Enjoyable. what Else Needs Said

Brett Battles is another of my “A Listed” authors, and with “Blinded by the Night” he once again evidences why.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and feel confident others shall as well. I highly recommend this exciting new thriller.

Another excellent book from the EXCOM series by Brett Battles

Review:
This is a good book for any new readers as well as for all existing fans of Brett's great Jonathan Quinn, EXCOM and Night Man thriller series.

Brett Battles has not let me down yet with his writing and this newest book, “Blinded By The Night”, is again another gem. Don't miss it.

First, for those unfamiliar with the EXCOMS, they are a group of five intriguing and very talented people who were recruited as agents by a man known as The Administrator, the head of an organization called "The Committee". This organization was created by a group of seven very rich individuals to rectify injustices in the world. The EXCOMS were chosen to undertake various dangerous assignments because each of them was uniquely qualified to handle these assignments. The EXCOMS are Ananke, Liesel, Ricky, Dylan and Rosario. Ananke is the team leader and she takes that role very seriously, as readers will certainly see in this newest book.

This new adventure begins with the EXCOMS located on board their "floating headquarters", which they use when in between jobs, when, all hell breaks loose. Someone is out to destroy the EXCOMS and "The Committee." With all the wealth of the members of The Committee, the EXCOMS never lack the resources, aka "tools of the trade", needed to deal with their assignments. One interesting part of this book revived personal memories for me of the old TV show "Mission Impossible" (from the late 1960's and early 1970's), or, for those too young to remember the TV series, there is Tom Cruise and the various Mission Impossible movies. You readers will see what this means as you make your way through this new book.

I have enjoyed all of Brett’s books, starting with the Jonathan Quinn series, continuing thru the Project Eden series, The EXCOMS series, The Night Man series and many other books. I highly recommend every one of his more than 40 books.

As a fan of sci-fi in my teens, I was very happy to see Brett create an intriguing series about time travel with his 3-book “Rewinder” series. Great stuff! Maybe there will be a follow up? One never knows.

You cannot go wrong with any Brett Battles book. Trust me on this…

This is the 4th book in this series and I have to admit that I am a fan of Mr. Battles. I have really enjoyed his Jonathan Quinn series and apparently this is a spin off from that (I honestly can not remember exactly HOW this is a spin off - but I'll take their word for it).

Anyway, this book starts with a bang. I will admit that the time sequence really confused me at the beginning. I had a hard time understanding exactly when things were occurring. Once the story got started though and got to "present day", it kept up a very quick pace. There was lots of action and things starting happening pretty quickly. This is one of those series where you just have to suspend your level of believability for a bit and then things are completely okay. If you think about the details too closely, then it becomes a bit tricky, but for the most part - once the team started their last job, things were definitely rolling.

Anyway, I listened to most of this on audio and had absolutely no problems with the narrator (Allyson Johnson). I think this might be the first time I've heard her as a narrator, but I think she did a good job.

This series is apparently not over and the ending of this book lets us know that there might be more to come. If so, count me in.

This is the first time I have read one of the Excoms series usually read Jonathan Quinn but this does not disappoint, I found it just as exciting full of action and would definitely read some more.
It started with the team finishing one of their jobs when the boat they were all on was under attack. The boat was demolished along with a loss of lives and the main head and indeed the Excoms knew who it was, and so a new boss has had to take over so after some time elapsed he asked the crew if they wanted to get the person responsible for the attack and indeed the loss of life, and the crew came together
Praise for Brett Battles his writing is superb and good strong characters that do not have flaws like some of the detective stories.

Another slam dunk by Brett Battles. This next book in the series will take you on a wild ride that leaves you wanting more. But ALL of his books leave me wanting more. He’s easily become my favorite novelist.

Compelling, evocative and such a thrilling novel. You are in there until the very last word! By far my favorite book in the series.

I received a copy of this book and am leaving my honest review. I became hooked on Brett Battles books from The Jonathan Quinn series and I’m such a HUGE fan. I couldn’t get my hands on enough of his books. Must.read.more.Battles.

As a long time fan of his books, I’m letting you know now that he will not disappoint. Really fantastic book!

Love this series! (audible/kindle whispersync review)

This was a great book! Loved it. I have enjoyed all the books in this series.

Lots of action and butt kicking. Great characters and character development. The story line and plot were great. I hope there will be more of this series to come.

I am a huge Brett Battles fan. If you have not read his books you are really missing out. He is a fantastic author. Love him. All his series from Jonathan Quinn to the Night Man, oh and lets definitely not forget Livia Lone! All amazing stories, characters, writing, there is nothing bad at all.

As for the narration, Allyson Johnson does a good job.

Blinded by the Night is the newest installment of the Excoms series by Brett Battles. As usual, there is a bad guy and an impossible situation for the Excoms. As usual, the formula works to produce an edge of your seat thriller. Part of the reason it entertains so well is the continued character development and interactions among the Excoms. Brett Battles delivers likeable characters with wit and wisdom. I can't wait to see what they do next. Blinded by the Night is a 5 star read.

I received an Advance Reader Copy in exchange for my honest review.

I received a review copy from the author at my request and this is my honest opinion. This is one more edge-of-your-seat thriller! As always with one of Mr. Battles' books, there is plenty of action, great characters, awesome spy gadgets, natural-sounding dialogue, and twists and turns galore. There is so much good in this book I wish I could tell you about but it would spoil it and that would be a shame. All I can say is, buy this book and then turn off your phone, lock your door, and dare anyone to bother you until you turn the last page. Yes, it's that good!

The Excoms are back! As they prepare for some R&R, their ship is attacked. Assassins are after them and the team goes into hiding. But when they get the opportunity to go after the person behind the attacks, it's time for another adventure.

This is a fun series. The Excoms work well together as a team. Ricky is the only one (so far) that has had much character development, though Ananke gets some here as well. The action is solid as is the dialogue. A solid thriller with no particular political leanings.

Battles always leaves me wanting more…

I’ve never looked more forward to “the next book” as I do with every one in each of Brett Battles’ series’. The Excoms series, like all the others, has delivered every single time. Battles is sooooooo good at character development, which is what keeps me coming back for more. I’m so invested in each team member, but none more right now than Ricky. What’s he going to do?!?!

Fantastic plot

I have read and liked many of Brett Battles books and gave all of them 5 stars. However this book and this entire series is even a cut above that! If you like fast moving thrillers with exceptional plots do not miss the Excoms. I highly suggest you go to book one and read the four books that are written so far. I am anxiously waiting for book 5 to become avail able.

This book was amazing though I must admit, half of this book I was a little annoyed as I was lead to believe one thing but when I saw what MR. Battles actually had happen I loved it. I hope this is not the end of this series but if it is, I would consider it a satisfactory conclusion. Still, I’d love to see it continue if for no other reason than to see how they might handle Ricky’s and Ananke’s character evolution. There are a lot of things the author could do.

It was OK

I was reminded why I wasn't a fan of this series, it's a team of supermen who are unstoppable. No one gets hurt, all missions end in success, and the spy tools are next level.
That said, this book took time to provide the reader a bit of back story and deeper dive into the characters and their motivations.
Overall, the book was OK. I wanted to finish it, but was in no hurry to do so.

I enjoyed it but not quite as much as many of his other books. I read a lot of series with continuing characters and had read the three that came before this one. I never recommend starting in the middle of a series, but here I thought the characters sort of lost their back stories letting you start here. In the prior books the characters had specialties but they were soft pedaled here.

Another page turner

I’m a Brett Battles aficionado. I read all his stuff. This latest of the Excoms series kept me up until 2:00 AM to finish it. Yes, the plot is far fetched but the action grabs you by the seat of your pants and throws you into the action. Highly enjoyable and highly recommended.

Battles never disappoints but I want more books from him. I wish Quinn had been drawn out longer but I love Jar so it’s okay. I love this deviation from the typical aspect of this genre. I highly suggest you go back to the beginning to the Quinn years in book #1 The Cleaner.

Great Series

I think this is one of the best thrillers out there. The author has done a fine job of team building to the point you find yourself wanting a certain outcome. You really can't put the book down once you start. Good clean action and suspense.

Excomms

This might be the best plot of this series. A couple of the characters were developed more deeply and I really enjoyed that.

And the ending of this story has me really anxious for the next book in this series.

The end…or the beginning?

This one stretched the possible too far. And yet a very enjoyable read that allowed me to completely forget about life. I rate stars on a number of criteria, but if a book takes me away, no matter how far the reach, it has achieved it’s goal.
