Sometimes, an unexpected guest can change everything...

Kate Thompson has always wanted to find someone who was a true friend, partner, and lover. But after one cheating husband and fifteen first dates, she is no closer to her goal than when she started.

When her young neighbor, Peter Clarke, moves in for the summer, it offers Kate a glimpse of such a relationship...if she can just get out of her own way. Torn between the feelings of right and wrong, Kate must decide whether to nip things in the bud or take the leap into the tantalizing possibilities.

What Peter doesn’t know is that there are more obstacles to overcome than just an age gap. There is a history between their families.

Does Kate let the thirty-year gap come between them, or does she accept his summer proposal?

Peter is a gorgeous twenty-one-year-old soon-to-be chef who adores her. Life has tempted Kate before with doors of opportunity, but she always said no to the situation. Will she finally say yes to the temptation?

Who is Denice Holt?

Good question. I’m a writer, mother, partner, lover, and wife. Whew! I love to cook. I’m a sucker for Kir Royales. And I am blessed to enjoy the company of a good man and three precocious boys. I keep a watchful eye on the future, but I strive to enjoy the little moments in life as they go by every day.

Though I am still a small-town girl at heart, I have lived a reasonably big-city life. I’ve learned a lot of things along the way that I should know…and a few that I probably shouldn’t.

Advice for young parents? Hug and kiss your kids every chance you get because you will blink and they will think it’s gross.

Advice for young couples? Don’t let the distractions of life—kids, work, money—cause you to lose who you are as a couple. Date through it all! If you were ever madly in love, you can be again.

Advice for young lovers? Don’t be afraid to venture out on the ledge a bit. It will make you sad to find out when you’re eighty that nipple clamps were your jam all along. 😊

Oh yeah, and then there is my writing. I love relationships. I love happy relationships. I also happen to love sex. So, I write what I love. If you come along for the ride, I promise you this: everything I write ends with a happy-ever-after, a happy-for-now, or some of my favorites, a happy-for-the-memories.

After a bad marriage, Kate Thompson feels like she'll never find someone who will truly love her and be her best friend at the same time. Just when she gave up on finding love, right after her divorce, her young neighbor, Peter Clarke, moves in with her for the summer.

Peter is a soon-to-be chef, he always adored Kate secretly. And now, when he is living with her under the same roof, he can't help himself and proposes one deal.

Kate is aware of the age gap between them, but she feels noticed and loved like she never felt in her life before. Will she be the mature one and deny the deal? Or she will accept it and have the best summer of her life?

After reading ,,Dream works", I have to be honest, I had very low expectations for this one but I got positively surprised. This is a short novella, but I really enjoyed reading it. There were also too many intimate parts in this story, but somehow the author made it more likable.

What I didn't like about this book is the age gap between the main characters, but after a few chapters I didn't really think about that. It's interesting story that will make you think from a very different perspective of things. No one can figure out the definition of love, but here you can see what ISN'T love and how it should look like when someone loves one person.

After a few chapters I couldn't put it down. I read it in one sitting and at the end I wanted more of this story! I love how the author writes about passion and love in a unique way. You enjoy reading the story, you read it fast and yet, you learn the message it gives.

Based on the two books I've read by Denice, I think she is improving as an author and if the next book is similarly good like this one, I think that she is on the right track and can easily write a great story one day!

The summer proposal by Denise Holt is an erotic age gap novel about Kate (who recently got out of a bad marriage ) and Peter (who is studying to be a chef)

Peter lives in Kate's house because it's just easier that way because it's closer to his chef school and Kate and Peter's mom had come to a decision that it would just make sense to let him stay there until he graduates, which was going to be pretty soon.

Kate doesn't believe she will ever be in a loving relationship ever again because of how terrible her previous marriage was and because of her age (she doesn't believe anyone would be attracted to her. Peter on the other hand has been secretly attracted to Kate for the longest time, so he proposes a deal with Kate, which she accepts. After having read the replacement by Denise, I had high hopes that I was going to enjoy this book as much I as did the other one, and I was not wrong, it was just as good and the last part of the part was unexpected but it was really good. It's a short read, so you can finish it in one sitting. I loved every minute of it! I cannot wait to read more of Denise's books, she's a really good author!

A well written erotic age gap summer fling. Our main characters are Kate, a divorcee and Peter a college student. I love how the author allows Kate to be a mature woman but also still able to learn to accept herself and her wants. Peter, even as young as he is was able to teach her somethings. I love the mutual respect and affection there was throughout and the ending, while sad was still so sweet!

What a totally kick ass read! Man oh man…it touched all the feels and I even needed a few tissues to get through the end. The storyline was really good; the characters simply amazing; the plot twists and turns were also darn good; and the HEA had me bawling like a baby! You definitely need to add this one to your TBR list today. (I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book and really was taken with it!) ❤️❤️❤️

Summer Proposal is a sizzling, spicy romance with a heroine my age which made it extremely relatable to me, as I find most romances are younger women with older guys. Kate is incredibly open and honest with Peter in their relationship which I do think appropriately reflects how women our age act. I only wish there was a little more detail of the summer and the awesome dates and experiences I’m sure they shared. And I loved the perfect ending.

This book was heavy on the spice which is why I gave it 3 stars. I liked that the age gap was an older woman in this story which made it different than a lot of other age gap stories!! I would have connected more to either of the characters if the story hadn’t been in third person pov. With little story line and plot, it was hard to connect with the characters without the first person pov. If you like spicy books this is a good short read!

Peter Clarke and Katherine Thompson were the protagonists for Denice Holt’s Romance Summer Proposal. Kathrine, the forty-nine-year-old divorcee, agreed to let Peter stay at her house until his college graduation. The summer started normally. Katherine went out on a string of dates. Peter attended class. Everything was fine. That was until Katherine walked in on Peter masturbating. Things turned upside down. An apology morphed into unexpected events which led to the Summer Proposal.

I loved Denice’s way of writing Peter and Katherine’s story. The chapters were short and easy to read. I understood every event and emotions. It was clear why each character did what they did. Maturity has nothing to do with age was one of the lessons learnt while reading their story. This couple showed a side to the age-gap romance trope that most others like it failed to do. I appreciated how each character knew what they wanted and went for it. Katherine, included.

In chapter two when it gave the impression that Peter caught Katherine. It would have been better to let the scene play out. The excitement from that event would have helped carry the story rather than the shortened version. I half thought the first chapter was a prologue until I went back to check and realized it was a chapter. It ended too abruptly, and the second chapter started too far apart. It felt like something was missing.

I loved the ending. It was different and subtle. Something other books with similar tropes I have read didn’t have. The spicy scenes were enjoyable. I rated Summer Proposal four out of five stars. I recommend it to the readers who get intimidated by age. Romance comes at all ages whether it is close or far apart. It’s okay to try new things. The experience we gain from one thing can help us in the future.

Thanks to BookSirens for this ARC Read. I enjoyed the story.

I got Summer Proposal by Denice Holt from BookSirens for a fair and honest review.

Summer Proposal is a short steamy romance novel telling the story of an age gap relationship between a middle aged woman called Kate and her soon to be cooking school graduate Peter over one summer before their lives go in different directions..

When reading romance short stories where there is a power dynamic between the two protagonist there are times when the writer adds to the unequal power dynamic of the relationship, however this is not the case with Denice Holt’s writing.

This was because at each stage of the relationship both of the individuals were involved, this was especially true with one scene which could have been classed as rape, but the way it was set up and the aftermath of the event removed any suggestions of this.

Summer Proposal in one way is a short story with a number of steamy sex scenes in between, however it is much more than that, as it is sweat and sentimental, story about balanced relationships along with a coming of age for both individuals despite their ages.

This was a sweet, sexy, and tender May/December summer romance. Something of a “The Graduate” vibe with a much nicer Mrs. Robinson.

The characters were well done and I liked them all with the exception of Kate’s ex-husband who was a total jerk.

The plot moved along and built nicely to the end. The scene near the end involving Kate, Peter, and Steve was very unexpected and blew me away.

The ending was a bit bittersweet but satisfying nonetheless. Definitely recommend this book.

For what it is, this book is dynamite! A short and incredibly sexy fantasy of an older divorced woman and a much younger man the summer before he leaves for culinary school. Any description would be a spoiler, so you will just have to read it for yourself! Well written, full of luscious sex and a happy, sad, tearful, hopeful ending!

Summer Proposal flirts with the taboo in a very fun and steamy way. It is a quick, well written, page turner that didn’t quite end the way I expected. There were some very satisfying ‘gotcha’ moments, and the story does not dwell on the potentially awkward ones, making it a fun and light read. I am looking forward to diving into Denise Holt’s next book.

Full disclosure: I was given an ARC of the book, however this review is my own honest opinion.

A light Interesting much older woman and young adult make. The proposal was mutually beneficial and gratifying. I enjoyed their cuddling on couch as watching tv after the fancy culinary masterpiece he creates for dinner. The growing emotions and confusion what means and where to go is relatable.

This book was enjoyable and intriguing. Every character was complex and had a certain depth to them. The book was well written. The trope was quite fascinating as well. The only issue I found with this book, was its lack of trigger warnings.

Kate had a bad marriage. When Peter, in his twenties, needed a place to stay until he finished his culinary course, Kate offered for him to stay with her over the summer. Kate did not find herself attractive, but Peter had lusted after her. They decided to make the most of the summer together and to share their sexual fantasies. I liked the consideration Peter and Kate had for each other. She supported his efforts as a chef and as a young man. He developed a real love for her and did his best to make her feel desired. Lots of steamy sex but also the importance of caring about each other. It was fun to see Kate’s confidence in herself blossom because of Peter’s attention. Steve, the more appropriate partner, was a good touch when he entered the group.

3.5 stars for this very smexy reverse age gap romance! Kate is a divorced 49-year-old providing room and board for 21-year-old culinary student Peter. After accidentally catching Peter in a compromising position, her fantasies heighten about him. So ensues the summer proposal. Both main characters get to play out their greatest fantasies about the other with the caveat that they each go an age-appropriate date weekly. That twist toward the end was unexpected. This book is short, but offers a great escape from the real world. This is my first by the author and I will check out her backlist.

A very short story. Twenty one year old Peter is staying with a recently divorced 49 year old Kate. She sees him on her couch, pleasuring himself and they spend the summer getting pleasuring each other, knowing that there is an end date. She starts to date Steve who also wants an intimate relationship. As Labor Day approaches, Peter graduates culinary school but that weekend, there is a "hand off" from Peter who leaves to Steve who is staying.

A nice fantasy story. A very quick read.

so the book was listed under comedy romance, well this was more along the lines of erotica in my opinion. yeah there were a few oddly funny parts but the scenes were and theme of this book was all sex.
once you get past that (bc that's not normally what I read) it had a good story to it.
i finished this book and am writing a review bc I said I would bc it was an ARC book and I didn't want to go against my commitment.

It's ok. I like the fact that a more mature woman is being portrayed as sexually attractive and active. I also liked that the guy was younger for a change. It's well written and the POV switches were executed perfectly. The story itself was however just ok.

I wish I could give it more stars but I just can't.
It's a quick and hot read which I don't mind. What I do mind however was that it was told in third person. I prefer first person.
Also without spoiling anything, I did not like the ending.

This book is exactly as it says it is. A large age difference and a book that is full of spice. It took a turn at the end of the summer that surprised me but I thought it just added to the storyline. The four stars has more to do with my expectation of more of a plot than it has.
