Ariah Fuller has spent her entire life trying to gain her mother’s love and respect by way of being who she thought Mariah Fuller wanted her to be. Mariah Fuller had her hands in every aspect of Ariah’s life until Ariah realized it no longer worked for her. Her newfound revelation prompted Ariah to reevaluate the people in her life starting with her hand-picked fiancé James. While figuring out her next move, Ariah runs into the confident and persistent Tower Eno who shows her everything she’s been missing.
Tower Eno is the epitome of an alpha male. He says what he means and means what he says. After experiencing a tragedy of his own and being deceived by the one woman who is supposed to love him the most, his trust levels are at an all-time low. The only thing he’s willing to offer the opposite sex is physical pleasure and a warning to not get too close. He was completely okay with not entertaining women outside of the bedroom until he meets the beautiful Ariah Fuller. The attraction and need to protect was almost instant, quickly solidifying thoughts to make her his. There is only one thing in his way, Ariah’s pending nuptials.
I don’t usually give reviews but with this one.. I had to.. I won’t lie.. I forced myself to finish this book. It usually takes me 1-2 days to finish a book but this one took almost 2 weeks. It started off very slow and kind of dull.. I do like that the author didn’t make the sex scenes overly dramatic like most books.. I just feel like there was some things left out the book. I feel like the author should have given us Arian’s POV and Mariah’s POV too. I would have love to read about the moments leading up to James being fired. I’m not by any means bashing the author because I couldn’t do what she does. It’s a good book just a little too long and boring.
😳this book wore me out.. just when I thought there wasn’t going to be anymore curve balls there was another bomb dropped. It was one thing after another, lol. Ariah is engaged to get married when she decides to meet with an attorney to discuss a prenup. When Ariah meets Tower it was lust at first sight.. Tower is blinded by Ariah’s beauty. It was during the encounter that Ariah is finally faced with the reality of her relationship and questioning if she is truly in love with her fiancé, James.
This book had me questioning my morals because I knew Tower and Ariah were wrong. But, when I learned of all the foolishness that James, Mariah, and Arian were into- I totally was team Tower and Ariah, lol. I feel like James and Mariah got exactly what they deserved. I don’t understand how Mariah hated her daughter so much to go through such lengths to ruin her. I loved Tower; he had his own baggage but he was the peace that Ariah needed. I had to put this book down a few times because I was heated with some of the things that were happening but I enjoyed this read. Good read!
Ariah mammy was just trifling money-hungry old heifer. Lying telling her Tower was her brother. Arian didn't make it any better, it's like Mariah had a hold on her. Reese I really couldn't stand. She is a d@#n brat. She asked Tower did he know who her daddy was? Reese daddy was like I don't appreciate him deflowering like she was looking to get married. She was just a show piece. She was mad because Tower didn't spend no time with her or give her a key to his place. Somebody else caught his eye and it wasn't her. Gemini was a stalker. He got Leslie pregnant. Thinking Sunny was going to be waiting with open arms. Peri just loved messing with Tower telling him, she was going take his girl. Uncle Dickie was telling Arian about her mammy, because Mariah was going to tell her the truth or she was looking to spend it to make her like the victim. Money is the root of all evil. Mariah and James we're sleeping together. Ewww. They got when they deserved. Tower was looking out for Ariah.
I like the overall story but it didn't feel fully flushed out. Something was missing. Like, more should've been explained in the James and Mariah situation.
The story was decent but the writing needs work. There were a lot of grammar issues and using the wrong words. For instance, it's not "over and beyond", it's "above and beyond". There were tense issues, i.e., "was" and "took" instead of "were" and "taken".
Also, you can't "reach" something to someone. You can "give", "pass" or "hand" them something.
There are also a lot of repetitive phrases and words: hitch, I welcomed it, she's comfortable with me, the world revolves around you, etc.
Last, I noticed this book was published in 2021. Why is the author still perpetuating that self-hating rhetoric of "good hair". All Black hair is good so...
The author has some growing to do but all authors should always be growing. Hopefully, this author improves and writes more books like this.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
This was a really good read. Tower whew lord Tower was everything Ariah didn’t know she needed. The chemistry between the two was 🔥 One encounter with that man and sis was like James who?
I just knew Arian was sleeping with James and then boom plot twist it’s the evil ass mammy. Just eww how sick can you be 🤮
Reese was your typical dumb broad too attached to a man who’s clearly letting her know what it’s is and what it ain’t between them.
Gemini was funny I would love to see him and Sunny’s story but Sunny ain’t gone put up with his BS so don’t know how that would end lol.
Ariah cried a lot but dammit she had damn good reasons to cry. It really be your own family against you. Tower was her peace and exactly what she was missing. She deserved some happiness she deserved him and he her and I loved every moment of it.
Nikki came back with a vengeance! The story pulled you in from page one and held my attention. Ariah had some messed up people in her life. You would've thought that her sister would've wanted a better relationship with her and not allow the poison her mom put out there to taint her mind but I guess she felt like her mom was all she had. James and her mom deserved to suffer for what they did to her, they deserved worse than what they actually got. Hopefully we won't have to wait long for Nikki's next book, but if she's putting out fire like this I probably wouldn't mind the wait.🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Looking forward to more from this series and author!
OMG, I loved this story SO much!!! Give me a Tower any day of the week, and I’m there for it! Nikki Brown, girl, you showed out! What I’ve Been Missing, was hilarious, based on reality, and it took me on an emotional ride. Ariah was a sweetie pie, who didn’t deserve a mother like Mariah - Lord, they would have had to lock me up for real! I would have beat the brakes off of her, on God!
Great writing, like, hands down, this was one of the best stories I’ve read this year 🙌🏽. The supporting characters were everything too - that Gemini and Sunny, oh my God, and Peri! Like I said, can’t wait for book 2!!
This was such a cute and wonderful story. Tower got Live at first sight and Ariah got everything that she was missing but didn’t know that she was missing it at first sight… A wonderful, cute, charming, and beautiful well written book. Mariah was truly “luella” and all because of jealousy and greed. Arian go sit down somewhere and James, such a lame. Sunny was the best as well as Gemini, but he had too much issues as well as several baggage. But Tower and Ariah, baby, that was a match. Reese was pathetic! Now let’s what else to read from such an awesome and amazing author ✍️…. You are truly a star!!!!
I enjoyed this book. The journey for Tower and Ariah was filled with obstacles (what’s her face, mom and James🙄🙄🙄🙄) but they made it🥳🥳💃🏽💃🏽👍🏽👍🏽. So glad they made it🥳🥳. Gemini🤦🏽♀️. Dude has problems. Love Sunny. Hope she gets her love..if it’s Gemini, the road to happiness will be filled with pitfall after pitfall (Gemini and baby mama from hell😩). Can’t wait to see that mess..even though I hate drama😩. This was a great read. Tower stayed the course and I’m happy he didn’t give up. I recommend this book. Great read👍🏽👍🏽
The story was well-written, and it held my attention. I'm not sure how I felt about the hero and heroine. He was a thug lawyer, and she was weak, and cried way too much for me. There was something missing, and this story left me feeling some kind of way about all of the characters. The three stars are because the story was solid, however, I can't find it in myself to go any higher. What's up with the sprinkles of religion mixed with lying, cheating, sex, etc? This messes with my spirit. Just sayin.....
That was well written. The characters- both main and supporting characters - are well represented. They stayed true to their roll in the book and the chemistry and love interests between the Hero and Heroine are very much authentic. The languages that is used flows well in each interaction, even the conflicts felt real to the reader. I enjoyed this book well. U will definitely be looking to read another book from this author. I’m looking to find Sunny and Gemini’s storytelling all ready.
We may had to wait but it was worth it. This is a complete story that I hope we get a few more storyline from... At any rate we get an exceptional book Bae in Tower and the growing through disappointing family with Ariah. The story starts on page 1 witch I'm a fan of keeps the pace. I don't want to give it away but that mom needs more than jail time and I hope Sunny story is next!
The story was quick, with a few aggravating characters. A mom as a garden tool sounds crazy to me. The same mom who does unscrupulous things had me shaking my head. Then there was the faithful friend and the man named Tower, woosaa... That man made my day... Overall, the story is about beautiful people, the lust for money, greed, villains, genuine friendships, and love. Give this one a read. Be prepared for a rough ride....
Its like you just put out a book last month, you haven't lost IT!!! That mother was from the deepest parts of Hell! Money definitely is the root of all evil and she proved that. Ariah was blessed the day she walked in that office and met Tower. I hoped that Sunny and Gemini would have figured things out, sounds like a sequel to me. LOL. So glad you back hitting those keys
Tower was in a F buddy situation with Reese who wanted more from the relationship. Ariah was in a relationship with James and he was in love with someone else. When the truth came out about who he was with it blew me away. Ariah has the mother from hell. But the relationship between Tower and Ariah catches both of them off guard and it was pure fire from the start. Loved this book.
Really enjoyed this book Ariah mama was a mess she was jealous of her own daughters relationship with her father and messed her oldest daughter up I was hoping Ariah and her sister could start having a sister relationship but her mama is in her head...so glad Ariah got her HEA with Tower....I absolutely love her and Sunny's friendship Sunny definitely didn't play about Ariah......❤❤🔥⭐⭐
Mariah was a real piece of work i tell you ! Sleeping with your daughters man is disgusting! Ariah didn't deserve half of what she went through! James was disgusting. Ariah needed a friend like Sunny !I'm so glad that she met Tower he was just what she needed ! Tower was strong, and wanted it his way just what Ariah needed. Mariah and James got off easy if you ask me . Are we getting a story on Sunny and Genesis ? Great read !
I loved this standalone it was fire from the beginning to the end. I couldn’t believe that Ariah mother did that to her. I couldn’t believe that James was really sleeping with her mother though. I was so happy that Tower saved her though and I was happy that he helped her get her money back.
This was good. I need a book on Gemini and Sunny because they definitely have some unresolved issues. Mariah was definitely the devil, she didn't deserve to be even called mom, and for her to be sleeping with her daughter's boyfriend showed what low life trash she and James were.
Oh my god that Momma was definitely the devil. How could you even do your own child like that? She was so jealous of her daughter it was a shame. James was a pussy. I’m so glad she didn’t marry him. Gemini was a fool I hope we hear more from him and his crazy baby momma.
Ms. Nikki you never disappoint me….. Poor Ariah just was dealt a horrible hand when it came to her egg donor because that woman doesn’t deserve the title as mother smh. Mariah was just a old money hungry bitter hag and Arian was just stupid. But Tower was bae and I’m glad that him and Ariah found each other!!!
What a way to welcome us back Nikki!!! WELCOME WELCOME WELCOME!! You were truly missed and this book made me realize just how much I missed releases from one of my favorite authors. Tower Eno is BAE!! Mariah is the wicked witch with all those Skeltons in her closet. James and Reese are so trifling. Loved loved love this book.
Ms.Brown delivered with both lead characters been successful professionals, without drugs giving them a start. James,Mariah,Arian and even Reese didn’t know how to be loyal to those who they were supposed to care for them. Liked that Arian and Tower’s story was a standalone.
Tower and Ariah came into one another's lives at the right time. Ariah's mother and James were deceitful and deserved to rot in jail for everything they did to her. Tower was her peace and would protect het from all! Sunny was an amazing friend and was always there for Ariah as well. Job well done.
I loved everything about this read. It definitely gave the give💯. The drama, the romance, the emotional pieces. All of it. Girl I just feel like falling in loveeeeeeeeeee after this. BTW I’m a newbie to your craft I come by way of Ashley and Jacquavious. But Chile I’m getting all the feels. Thank you until next time😘😘
This book was EVERYTHING ! It gave very sensual && explicit details…the build up between Tower & Ariah was exciting…I’m glad they got what they deserved…& ol Mariah should’ve gotten a lil more than a jail sentence…I feel kinda bad for Arian I hope she gets the closure she needs *hint *hint Ms. Brown lol over all it was a GREAT read from beginning to end.
The title begs the question what I’ve been missing in this literary world! This was so good ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️! I love that Ariah wasn’t a pushover. The nerve of her mammy, her sister, and James. Tower came in like a wrecking ball but then restored order. So now I feel like I need Gemini and Sunny’s story!
Yesss!! Nikki you wrote this book oh so well. I think we all need us a Tower lol Mariah was a true devil and I'm glad she got her karma. Now James smh, he was just as greedy as Mariah and trifling. Arian wouldn't get any sympathy from me, guilty by association. And we just give leave Reese where she is. I'm hoping for a book for Gemini and Sunny😘😘
We missed you girl!!!!! I loved everything about this story! I also love that it was a standalone! I’m so excited you are back and you came back with a WHAM!!! I loved it!! I can’t wait to read more of your work!
This book was everything and more. Tower knew what he wanted and went after it. Reese was a straight pass around and Ariah mother was the devil reincarnated. I see Sunny and Gemini having a book and I am here for it. Yes Nikki!!!
