Everything is on the line in the final installment of this high-stakes series.
Lisa Phillips is a USA Today and top ten Publishers Weekly bestselling author of over 80 books that span Harlequin’s Love Inspired Suspense line, independently published series romantic suspense, and thriller novels. She’s discovered a penchant for high-stakes stories of mayhem and disaster where you can find made-for-each-other love that always ends in happily ever after.
Lisa is a British ex-pat who grew up an hour outside of London and attended Calvary Chapel Bible College, where she met her husband. He’s from California, but nobody’s perfect. It wasn’t until her Bible College graduation that she figured out she was a writer (someone told her). Lisa is a worship leader, tea aficionado, and dog lover of two crazy Airedales.
I enjoyed this series and look forward to the next. She still needs for her editing group to catch mistakes: like it should have been a him not a her. Anyway I read for enjoyment not to be picky, but I had to say this beause it is in most of her books. I am not sure that I liked Soraya very much. She seemed to want to do her thing but seemed like a spoiled child when it came to Chevalier Protection specialists. I really like the poeple in this group. They all are worried about each other and are a real family. Judah is one of my favorites in the group. I would have liked the end to have been more informative on what happened to everyone. Maybe it will be in the next series. I was looking forward to the change in Isaac and it seemed lacking. All in all I would recommed this book to young adults up who injoy a good suspense novel.
A very exciting ending that promises more to come in the Last Chance Universe!
Though it's not necessary, if I could start reading over again or rather when I start reading her books yet again when I'm done devouring them this time, I would start with the very first series that she wrote and follow an order :-)
You won't miss anything by not following an order but it just makes it extra fun :-)
I chose this rating because this story was just as impactful as the others. Since this was book 5 I highly suggest starting with book 1 and reading the entire series. There are twists and turns and situations that you can't imagine the characters getting out of but they do, of course. And the love in all the books fills my heart. I felt that in each book it touches someones heart and where they are hurting or needing love. Each character struggles with something as we do so one of the books will touch your heart or all of them will. They each are based on love and the intimacy of friends that would do anything for each other. Please read all the series that Lisa Phillips has written. I haven't been able to put them down once started. Brilliant writting and she manages to bring faith in God into the stories as well. You won't be dissapointed I can promise you that. Thank you Lisa for once again filling my heart and allowing me some excitement on the way!!!!!
I just finished the five book series. Interesting characters, some of them likeable and of course there are the bad guys. Only the reader is never quite sure who is the bad guy. I usually don’t appreciate a book with this many twists and turns but Phillips’ style of writing kept me reading along wondering what would be next. My question still is whether Lana is a good or bad character. Maybe like all of us humans there is a bit of good and bad in each of us. Is it our actions or our motivation that determines that? Do we do a bad thing for a good reason or perhaps a good thing for the wrong reason?
I don't know if the book is actually long because I rarely pay attention to the page count. But it sure did feel long. That's not necessarily a bad thing. In this case, there's just a ton of things going on. It was sometimes hard to keep track and some of the scenarios seemed so convoluted as to be unbelievable. But Lisa Phillips does keep a reader guessing about what's going to happen next. This book, as the rest of the series, is clean and heavier on the suspense than the romance. It's a good series and each book can stand alone. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a clean, suspense tale full of adventure, and with a dose of romance.
Sad to see the end of this series. I’ve recommended the books to others. In one of my reviews I mentioned that these were healing to me. I will stand by that. After having heart surgery and recovery, feeling sorry for myself, reading these books have kept me focused. I feel like after the things that’s happened in these books (so realistic) I have nothing to complain about. Wow, lots of action. Most was clean enough to recommend to anyone. Good Christian people trying to do the right thing in a way crazy world. Thank you Lisa Phillips. I will look for more of your books😃
There are romantic suspense books and then there are thrillers with romance. This is definitely of the thriller variety. It’s a good thing I don’t have a heart condition because it was pounding! I’m not even sure if I still understand everything that just happened. So much action. Nonstop. So many characters and criminals and murders and kidnappings, and so much more. This book was thrilling and filled with danger and politics and intrigue. The last in this series but I know these characters will continue to pop up everywhere.
I waited until the last book to leave a review…. I do not believe that saying;”I’ll pray for you” or”Thank God” everyone in a while, constitutes Christian Fiction. I took me nearly 3 weeks to read five books , that almost unheard for me. The characters were fairly well defined, the plot bounced all over the place, the team was well liked. When I start something, I finish it. Not my best reading experience
This is the first time I have read a series by Lisa Phillips. I have to say that I've thoroughly enjoyed this series. The characters were well developed and it made you relate to them. The storyline was also well developed, but predictable. It was a very clean series also, no curse words or sexualty. I would highly recommend this series. Especially for the Dee Henderson fans
This was a really good series and I did enjoy reading it. My problem is, as an editor myself, there were several places in each of the books that were not corrected by editing. Wrong words used or missing words. I'm inclined to think the author does her own editing or doesn't edit at all after her initial writing. This is a really exciting series, and it would be even better with a little bit more editing done. This is why I gave it 4 stars instead of five.
What a great end to the series full of intrigue and suspense. Soraya Adams is a reporter who has uncovered information that might possibly get her killed. She is hiding as a teacher in Nigeria when an event brings her path crosses with Judah. They end up being caught up together in the crosshairs of the Travers Company. Trying to stay alive while getting proof to bring the company CEO down is becoming very difficult.
I would like to say this was the best one. But each story brings you to this excellent finish. Finally really getting to know Judah and his cup of tea. Discovering his past and after journeying with Soraya to very end. You will love the conclusion and think I don't really want this series to be over.
I eagerly awaited every book of this series! I read the Last Chance County series and was super excited when I realized that the Chevalier Protection Specialists were going to have their own series!
Now I am hoping that Isaac and Casper get their own stories.
This is a good series. I would like to know what became of Isaac. Very exciting. I wonder if there is another series about the group working with Jeff from the accounting office. Also 'shotgun' in reference to front passenger side is because in stagecoach the passenger upfront carried a shotgun for protection.
Filled with suspense and twists and turns, Last Line of Defense is the exciting conclusion of the Chevalier Protection Specialists series. I enjoyed the storyline of Judah and Soraya and the ending of what happens to Isaac. It kept me turning the pages.
I really like Lisa’s book series. She goes from one group of people to the next group and you feel like you end up knowing the whole town. I’m hoping she will continue to do this with Last Chance County.
What an awesome story! As always, I’m never disappointed with Lisa’s books. I’m excited to see what she comes up with next, but in the meantime, I have some earlier books of hers to read!
I’ve been eagerly waiting for this book and and it didn’t disappoint! I loved the suspense and drama surrounding Judah and Soraya. The action was riveting. I liked that the characters from the previous books were included as well.
This whole series along with the last chance series were phenomenal! Good action and especially a chance to trust God and our friends. We are all so need and do wrong things, but Grace is a wonderful thing! Loved these two series
Crazy situations throw Judah and Serena together. She thought he was the enemy when she whacked him with a bucket. Plenty of action and intrigue. Sometimes it was hard to figure out who the good guys were.
I really enjoyed reading this book and the other books in the series. I really enjoy Lisa Phillips' writing. Her stories are action packed but not sensational. I enjoy getting to know the characters as people and their relationships.
This is the 5th book in the series and from the beginning to this last book it has kept me wanting more wonderful writing and story line I can’t express how much I have loved books 1 to 5 can’t wait to read what comes next
Amazing series, way out of my normal reading type, but I read them all back to back, practically non-stop. I thoroughly enjoyed them all. Only disappointed that we don't know what happened to Isaac for certain, he was such a part of it all.
The truth will prevail. All members theater Chevalier Specialists team find their purpose on the team. All those, like Soraya find that they too have their purpose. They all come together to make a family.
This was such an amazing ending to this series. Memorable characters, lots of intrigue and suspense thiskept me riveted to the very end. A true page turner.
I don't leave many reviews, but this series had me on the edge of my seat! Couldn't wait to get back to reading! One night I found myself start praying for one of the characters, lol! That's how good it is!!
Definitely YIKES! Clear your schedule because this isn’t a book that you can put down until all of the bad guys get sorted and Judah gets his tea 😉 and his girl!
This final book in the Chevalier Protection Specialists series is a highly entertaining, action-packed, fast-paced tale. It is a satisfying conclusion to this series but a part of me is sad the end has come.
