No rating for this one since I DNF'd it. This is my very first DNF. I'm not certain where the author was trying to go with this. The hero was impossible and the heroine is just plain stupid. Luke (hero) was manipulative, selfish, inconsiderate, possessive, intolerant, mistrustful, avaricious, do I need to go on?? Yea he was starting to turn over a new leaf but how many times does Tessa (heroine) need to forgive your dusty ass? He fucks up, has an excuse, apologizes, then fucks up again. You seriously can't get mad at your girl when some other guy picks up the pieces when she fell apart because you This just wasn't doing it for me. The petty bullshit he gets mad about and the leash he put on Tessa is ridiculous. Tessa's at fault for this too. She felt that she needed to put up with some of his shit and forgive him for things unforgivable, because she lost her virginity to him. C'mon, dumb girl, get real. But I digress. Happy reading!

I strongly feel my compulsion to read this absolute drama fest is the shock factor! I just seem to have to carry on reading to see what Limp Dick Lucas will do next and how much No backbone Tessa will continue to take.
It is no secret that I have never been a big Lucas fan, maybe emotional abuse, infedelity, lies and selfishness do not get my motor runnin, go figure! But he really out done himself in this instalment! More cheating, lies and guilt tripping the 'love of his life' who he went on to label a 'whore'! He is not just unable to keep his dick in his pants but he also has a spiteful tongue to boot. If I hear, 'Please tell me I can fix this' one more time I might actually varmint in my own mouth. I understand there are a lot of Lucas fans and I get he has a certain charm, but how can anyone the author included in good conscience hold him as a man that a girl should be in a relationship with, or who our heroine will ultimately end the series with. I may be cynical but no amount of sudden redemption or epihanies could make up for the souls destroying behaviour Lucas portrayed. I am well aware Tessa is no role model, she puts up with far too much, and no one is that good they they keep telling their family and friends to make sure their partner 'has to be okay', especially after shitting all over you in front of your family! There is kind, and there is Insane. tesla unlike Lucas has redeeming qualities, she is kinder, more decimated and more honest in the relationship. If I am honest she massively grows on me in book 4 when she distances herself from Lucas and regards him as the selfish man child he is, while falling in love with a far superior man, Collin, now that is a relationship you can respect.
the characters constant immaturity is frustrating, and the absolute weakness of even Tessa's family who continue to treat Lucas like a poor vulnerable broken bird, after he has reduced their daughter, sister and friend to someone on need of being sectioned, dumbfounded me. I know revenge is not suppose to conduse a healthy person, but some comeuppance for Lucas would have been nice in this book, and no I do not think keeping his house, while Tessa shuffles out and he fills the void by fucking the girl who helped ruin his realtionship is adequate, I know it is about letting go or wanting the best for the person you loved, but some closure or events to show that Lucas behaviour is not ok would be nice. Lucas claims to love Tessa, but does he. He always repeats this destructive behaviour and only ever seems to feel guilty for a limited time. That is if he is not outright verbally attacking Tessa to the point of making her throw up, which she seems to do a lot.
Some characters are more likeable such as Ben, Jade etc, but they do not have big enough roles to impact. While on some level I have enjoyed this series, it is generally frustrating and draining, and I for one am sick of Heroines I cannot fully respect or relate, while having to put up with Heroes unbelievable escapades, and of course he is always surround by skanks on heat vying for his attention. The only saving grace for this series in my opinion is book 4 and Collins entrance!

Also, the Worting is so confusing I never actually worked out how many times Lucas cheated etc. The final straw was Lucas mocking Tessa about the baby they could not have! He is scum, and it is not believable that he suddenly changes in the next book.

How much can you love someone who keeps saying he is sorry and keeps doing the same thing again? Poor Tessa confronts Lucas's failings. Although it tears her heart, she has to make a decision if she is to preserve her soul and find herself. Still love this book!

4 SO Wrong Stars
Warning: This is the 3rd in series. Don't read this until you have read the first 2.
Wrong.. This book is so wrong. OMG. The characters make terrible decisions. They do not respect themselves. They treat each other horribly. I wanted to slap them all. And I read it in one day. Arrrgggg. Why do you make me keep reading MJ Fields? I want to hate them. I want to give up on them. But I can't I think they must have something good going to happen. And it does....for a short time. Then....
Train Wreck. But its like this.....
And you can not stop watching or reading.
Tessa and Lucas are now in college and still messing with each other's minds. And bodies. And boy do they mess with both. A Lot. Tessa is a doormat of the highest degree but she has such high hopes for Lucas. He just keeps messing up. Messing up times a gazillion. And the mess ups? They get exponentially worse. Until..
I need the boy I fell in love with, the one who touched my heart and almost every part of me...I need you know that I am grateful I met you and loved you, and was loved by you.
Is that the end? Oh Hell No. They keep going back to each other. Will this time be the one that takes? Will they realize what they have and make it work? How much heart ache is too much heart ache?
Again...this could use some serious editing. And the worst part. The part that had me pulling me hair out???? This is not the end. There is one more book. How can I put myself through this again? But I will because they deserve an HEA and damn it....so do I.

Erm...um... I think this installment is the first one that I've really disliked, not the writing itself but more like Lucas. I mean Tessa that girl I'm not sure how the hell she does it, "I forgot it was up to me to make everything better for everyone else, except for me," she said sarcastically." Lucas good grief where in the hell do I start with his a**, this book he had me so freakin' angry and disgusted and his behavior is just unacceptable, but there were times you couldn't help but fall in love with him, "it's all yours you should just take it," he pulled her hand back to where he knew she wanted it." I mean he still has a way to get you hot and bothered, "I want to eff you right here, baby, nail your a** against the wall," Lucas growled in her ear as he pulled her to the opposite side of the pool." Now let's get to the disgusting factors, and I totally don't give two sh**s if his a** was drunk:
She threw up and tried to grab a hair tie from the counter and went back to the toilet and bent over and threw up again, she felt something wet on her leg and looked over. He was pi**ing on her leg.
"I told you to move," he laughed.
She stood up and slapped him, and he continued to laugh.
"Just marking my territory."
Effing hog! Honestly if his sh** doesn't get worked out I'm hoping she finds someone else and makes Lucas work for it, all he has to do is say 'I'm sorry' well hate to break it to ya but Sorries sometime ain't good enough Lucas ole' boy.

2 "Give readers a break and end this soon" Stars
And we’re off and running helter-skelter down the same “I’m so sorry and I’ll do better” highway once again. The monotonous and rampant jealousy theme continues to torture readers from start to finish. Luke and Tessa are now in college and living together (that is, when Tessa hasn’t left Luke again for the nth time). They’re still using super glue, otherwise known as sex, to keep connected literally. Not much movement in the story with little substantial character growth or relationship building. This book mirrors the other two considerably with the only difference being that the characters age and their lives are becoming more out of control and unrealistic in my opinion.
This author definitely needs a proofreader/editor. The writing is awful and exasperating. Too many lazy and unforgivable errors, i.e. wrong word choices (then/than – your/you’re – to/too – woman/women); run-on sentences with absolutely no regard for periods; and complete lack of possessive nouns are among the worst. It is so bad that I dropped my rating considerably for that reason alone.
Infuriating mess – but I’ve stuck with it through three books hoping to see some resolution, so I’ll trudge through the next two hoping that curiosity doesn't kill this kitty cat. Nobody can call me a quitter. I guess I’m hoping either the Douchebag or the Dumb Girl makes a decision and sticks to it. I would love to see at least one of them mature into adulthood with a happily-ever-after. At this point though, I’m thinking they both deserve whatever they get!

Reading Book 3 left me with so many emotions. Tessa and Lucas are finishing college and starting their careers. I like Tessa and can relate to her, I married my high school sweetheart, but it wasn’t a happily ever after.
Lucas, oh my goodness I am so frustrated with him! I really don’t know what kind of love he thinks he has for her, or even himself!! But what a ride of emotions this storyline is.
Tessa and Lucas are each other’s first love, and it’s so mature and a lasting one. But, how much garbage does she Tessa puts up with? I’m looking forward to reading Book 4 but at the same time a afraid! I am so cheering for them. MJ Fields you are a master author!

4.5 star Review Sad Love (Love #3) by M.J. Fields
Sad Love is the third book in the love series and was an emotional roller coaster of a read. This is the continuing story of Tessa Ross and Lucas Links, who have both been through a lot.
There is a lot of drama and angst as they continue on their journey and there were times that I wanted to scream in frustration. My emotions were all over the place as I read this book and I found myself in tears on occasion.
I am also back to disliking Lucas with a passion. These two certainly bring out the best and the worst in one another.

I can’t believe I finally made it through this book. I try not to ever put a book down and not finish. I made it through this but wanted to toss it and never look back. Tessa is an idiot and it was so hard to read her story and try to like her in any way. Anything bad that could possibly happen happened to this girl. How many times must you be cheated on to finally move on. This book makes women look stupid. She continues to go back to a man that cheats because why? She’s a good person? No, she’s an idiot.

This book just broke my heart. It really was just a book of fucking sadness. No feel good at all! Seriously I had to take an antacid after reading this. Lucas is a constant cheat for no reason at all. She literally walks in on him twice, and shows up at their house and he has someone there a few times. He tells her she's just one of his whores, treats her like shit, he's a fucking fucktard fucker! I hate him! He will never ever be faithful ever! Thank God she left him in the rear view. Oh thank God! But WHY?????? did she still share air with that asshole? Fuck him, she still talked to him and helped him?! Idiot!

I have never wanted to throat punch a man more!!!!
This book gutted me. It is that simple. I love Lucas, broken as can be, but I love him. I want him to be the man I know he can be. I want him to accept that he deserves to be loved. But he can’t. He just can’t. This book has me crying ugly tears, laughing until I snorted, and praying for a happy ending. From the first page, to the last page it was one hell of an emotional roller coaster but was worth the ride.
I have faith in my boy Lucas. I know with certainty his toxic ass is going to get himself together because even broken men deserve a happily ever after.
This book gutted me. It is that simple. I love Lucas, broken as can be, but I love him. I want him to be the man I know he can be. I want him to accept that he deserves to be loved. But he can’t. Wow, there is a part of me that wants Tessa to be with Ben. This one didn't surprise me so much, I think because the others were so well written that I knew that the characters personalities. Although there is something about Lucas that you can't stay away from. I think she should have walked away from him ages ago, I didn't think he would change...he really proved he is a pig. I never thought he'd move that quickly; and the hotel incident, you'd have thought she was holding out.
I can't wait for the next book!!!

If the last book didn't make you hate Lucas this one will. He needs hit with a brick, a chair, really anything that is handy. MJ knows how to bring a story together to bad I HATE one of her main characters. He really needs to get his crap together. Drunk or not you don't treat your girl like that...

I thought the heartbreak was bad in book one, wrong.
Then book two just about killed me. Still not the worst.
Third book did kill me. I did not cry as much as book two, but I raged.
I kept thinking, Why is Tessa allowing all this BS? Why is she allowing Lucas to talk to and treat her in such a way? Come on, Tessa; where is TT? Where is your backbone? Where is your self-respect?
The last couple chapters, she finally has her epiphanies! She becomes aware. She wakes up and laughs in the face of all the BS, and I couldn't have been more proud of her. Finally!
Now I need the next book to prove that Karma will reward Tessa and destroy Lucas!

4.5 Stars for Sad Love: Blue Valley College Years (Blue Valley #3)
Sad Love is the continuing story of Tessa Ross and Lucas Links journey and it’s an emotional roller coaster that will touch you on so many levels.
Lucas is one of those characters that you love one moment and hate the next and his relationship with Tessa certainty brings out the best and the worst in both of them. Their journey is full of pain, drama and angst and at times I wanted to throw my kindle at the wall and at times I found myself shedding a tear as I wished this couple to work out the drama and move on with all the good in their life.
This book gutted me the first time I read it and it has gutted me once more so if you love stories full of drama and angst this is the book for you.
Sad Love is the continuing story of Tessa Ross and Lucas Links journey and it’s an emotional roller coaster that will touch you on so many levels.
Lucas is one of those characters that you love one moment and hate the next and his relationship with Tessa certainty brings out the best and the worst in both of them. Their journey is full of pain, drama and angst and at times I wanted to throw my kindle at the wall and at times I found myself shedding a tear as I wished this couple to work out the drama and move on with all the good in their life.
This book gutted me the first time I read it and it has gutted me once more so if you love stories full of drama and angst this is the book for you.

This book is a lot like something my friend is going through. There was not a much cheating, but there was a lot of psychological abuse in my eyes. I really don't like Lucas he borders on being abusive. Tessa tries to love and forgive him, which she does many times. The whole time I'm screaming leave him, that won't happen till she makes the decision to leave. There is a lot of blame on both to go around. When she leaves Lucas says how can you do this to us, then makes lots of promises. Tessa, his family and friends are to blame in that they enable. When he breaks another promise that Tessa she finely realizes she has lost her self. This love story is very frustrating and makes me want to throw my Kindle across the room. M.J. Fields does a good job of making this story true to life, in my eyes. This is Tessa's journey in finding herself again. In my opinion this is a really good portrayal of some peoples lives. I'm not sure everyone would agree. I was entertained by the story and how I could relate to it, that is the reason for 5 stars. Not everyone is going to agree. This is not for everyone.

How very appropriate the name was for this third instalment, Sad Love. This was Tessa and Lucas in a nutshell, who had so many highs and lows they just didn't know when to quit. Thier love when it was good, was the best thing in the world. But when it got bad, it was downright toxic. Lucas wants to be a better man for Tessa, but he has flaws and is not perfect, Tessa knows she deserves better and yet still loves him always, despite these flaws.
The college years between these two was an emotional rollercoaster of epic proportions. You could see them growing from young teens in love, to moving in together and trying to build a future together, while juggling work and school. The love never dies, but the strain on their relationship and trying to keep it together was so emotionally draining. This one just hurt. Lucas is one of those characters that stays with you forever. I want to hug and throttle him equally. Prepare yourself for this one, as it is a highly emotional read.

Book three following Tessa and Lucas. There is a time jump in this book, so it starts out with them starting at college and progresses several years. Lucas is up to the same shenanigans. He continues to cheat, gaslight, and Tessa is absolutely the most weak and pathetic FMC that I have ever read in my entire life. There is so much angst and drama in this book, but even that was not enough to save this book for me. I said in my review of book two that I was going to read this book because I’m clearly a glutton for punishment, and that is absolutely the case. This book was punishment for me thinking that I would be able to handle this. If the authors goal was eliciting the absolute most angry response when reading a book, then she succeeded.
I guess some people like a weak FMC, I am not one of them.

I really, really, really wish that this book was better edited and that the author had someone go back through to check for inconsistencies in the storyline. I am addicted to the characters, the story and the plot....however, I am at times confused by the timeline of the characters as sometimes Jade is pregnant with her 3rd, other times she has 3, then Phoebe is giving birth but Jade is still pregnant....yeah, things like that bother me as well as the missing words, wrong words and punctuation. I love the story, but want it to be perfect! This author is amazing but I feel like these things are a turn off...

Young adult angst at it's best
Although I'm still having issues with the grammar of this book, like the first two. I still like the story and want to see where it ends. Tessa and Lucas are like oil and water together. I do find myself getting angry that Tessa is basically a door mat for Lucas and Lucas for trying to hold her down. I realized that insecurities are part of growing up.....overall a good book

This story is intense and will definitely rip your heart out and stomp on it . I could not put it down but it crushed me . The story is one of the most emotional stories I have ever read . While this story is heart wrenching and intense . It is a truly moving story . I cannot recommend reading this book any higher . It is beautifully written and the entire series is phenomenal . I highly recommend taking the time to read . I also recommend tissues .

Oh how my heart breaks! I love the new changes. Tessa and Lucas are an awesome couple and he does wrong and she’s so forgiving. My heart bleeds for him! He knows that he messed up one time to many! Love it MJ! A must read, you will be disappointed or a read over. Absolutely loved it! I cry every time and I’ve read it at least 20 times since I first discovered her! She has a way with words that just takes you hostage until the last page!

I’m so in love and invested in Tessa and Lucas! I want so much for them to have their happily ever after and with children of their own. But in this book it’s the finishing of there college years. Tessa faithful and trusting as always wants so much to trust and believe in Lucas!
Well lots happen and I cried and I got angry at Lucas. But love sadly doesn’t always turn out the way we wish. I just love MJ Fields! She is so amazing and I can’t wait for the next book.

This is the third book mj never disappointed me ever I've read and reread all oh her books. Hang on tight guys 3 is going to chew us up and spit us out nasty it's going to destroy you but there is hope I promise 4 puts our souls back together just with shades we never ever experience before

The sage continues.....
I shed soooo many tears while reading this book but I couldn't stop. The journey of Tessa and Lucas has been a long and tumultuous one at times but their raw love is what makes me love them. Tessa's growth and strength at the end is inspiring.

The only thing I'm sad about is that I have to wait for book four. All I can say is I'm still addicted. I read all three books in a day and a half. Lucas and Tessa have me more than hooked. I've become a secret stalker of MJ Fields because I need book four.

Sad Love was my absolute favorite of the Love series. Although at some points, it's "tear your heart out and stomp on it, just for good measure" sad--it's also completely wonderful.
