Lorna: A story about two women whose passion defies the limits of acceptability

Rate this book
Denise is a precociously intelligent young woman who divides her time between medical school and her friends.

Lorna is an ER doctor focused on her work and immersed in the daily routine of her life.

One cold, winter morning their lives collide by accident. From that moment on, the foundations of Lorna’s life are shaken by Denise’s relentless attraction to her.

Lorna is conditioned by her age and believes it is unacceptable to let herself be carried away by her emotions. She struggles through conflicting feelings to chip away at her long-established convictions. Denise, on the other hand, who is much younger and spontaneous, does not see their age difference as a hurdle whatsoever.

They embark on a journey that challenges social and moral conventions, and tests the depth of their feelings.

I found this story to be uncomfortable. Due to the age gap, Denise the main character is only 16 years old.

Denise a child genius, she is in her third year of medical school, at the age of 16.
Denise was on her motorbike when she was struck by a car. She was rushed to the emergency room, where she meets Lorna, unknowingly the woman of her dreams. Lorna is a 39 year old doctor, who is the emergency room doctor when Denise is brought in. There was an instant connection. Instant love.

Lorna goes through the obvious highs and lows regarding Denise. She wants to be with her but she knows that due to her age it’s inappropriate. However, she cannot pull herself away from her. Denise won’t let her pull away either.

The support cast really helps the story develop. Lorna’s transgender best friend Blyth is amazing, and holds all of Lorna secrets. Blyth becomes friends with Denise, who also uses Blyth as a sounding post.

I had a hard time believing that a 16 year old moved and navigated through life the way Denise did. Then there is issue Lorna faces and is worried about, that Denise is a minor in the eyes of the law. Denise puts up a good fight, and will not let Lorna pull away. The relationship develops and becomes a secret, due to the fact that Denise is only 16. This is a love story but an uncomfortable one.

Another thing that bothered me was how Denise’s mom was present in the beginning of the book, and seems to fade out to let Denise live her own life. The writer left a lot of unanswered questions when it comes to Denise’s mom. Will she ever find out about this secret relationship?

I have mixed feelings on the book. It seems as if Denise is older than 16, yet she is written as 16, but that is where I feel uncomfortable. The main characters definitely love each other and the love story is there. I think a part two would be good to answer some of the questions that remain.

I give this book ⭐️⭐️, the age gap was just too much for me.

it’s just beautiful…

When I first started to read the story of Lorna and Denise, I thought it would just tell of the age difference as the opening but quickly move to the age of adulthood as most of those types of stories seems to go. But I was pleasantly surprised that it told their story from where it all began. However, I do believe the author made Denise “more” for acceptability because of the age gap we were pursuing being how truly young chronologically Denise is. You found out some very unique abilities that one would account for her being so resolute in the love at first hearing for Lorna.

This story was told from the view point of Denise. I would have loved to delve into the viewpoint from Lorna. Nowhere in this story, was it ever easy for her to know that she had fallen for someone so young. All of her misgivings about the development of those feelings would have been my own. Social customs and mores don’t allow for such love to exist in this day and age. It also makes me wonder, if this is part of the reason that many states have differing laws on the age of consent. In other eras of our society, Denise would have been married off by now and with children. Mother Nature has a lot to say about who is ready for motherhood at a very early age too. Why is that? Anyway, parts of me was troubled by their love and the careful pursuit of it because I have been conditioned to be so.

I was open enough to know that Denise truly fell in love with Lorna, deeply and soundly. And I know it is the same for Lorna. I know she wanted it to not be the case for her, but it was. The love was pure and innocent. Their love was kind and it deserved the air, space, and time to breathe.

I truly enjoyed the love story of Lorna and Denise. I wish them love, peace, and happiness. They deserve it and each other. It is such a beautiful love story.

Slowwwwwwww 🔥🔥🔥

This is not an easy story to read. It deals with more than one or two social and especially female issues.
I think it is very serious and in some ways challenging to read. There is a HEA but the reader is left with the realization that the HEA was contingent upon so many factors which the characters will need to face in the not too distant future.
But, importantly for the reader, you are left with a sense of hope and the desire to cheer the main characters on.
Warning. For those of you who read LezFic for the more “intimate” heat many contain, basically nothing sexual happens until page 209, so you have a while to wait 😉😉😉.
However, from that point on, you will be greatly rewarded for your patience 😁.
Lastly, remember that this book was translated and some of the terms and expressions seem a little “ foreign” and awkward, but that is just an aside.
I hope that Ms. Hav has more books to share with us.

This book had me on a roll started it yesterday morning and finished it this morning. I hope we get a sequel and find out how their life turns out in the future. Does the mother find out? How does she take? etc. etc.
I couldn’t stop reading it was a really big age gap kind of romance but it was different and beautiful at the same time just wish we got a more story of their future together

Beautiful and haunting

A beautifully written story and a very complex subject. It begs for a second book to follow the main characters. It involves an ethical and legal question but it did not overshadow the immense love between the two MCs.

Odd and fascinating

A walk on the tight line of acceptability and a mind-blowing love story at the same time.

Every baby dyke's wet dream to be healed by an attractive adult meanwhile making them fall in love with you.

Outstanding

What a beautiful love story. The best lesfic I have read in a good long while. The underage aspect made me uncomfortable and the lack of adult supervision. Nonetheless, the storyline was so solid, I still read it.
