Jessica Whitby isn’t your normal girl next door. She’s a klutz and an ex-millionaire’s wife who knows more about exotic vacations than doing laundry. Short on cash and life skills, Jessica turns to her neighbor for advice
Blindsided by his divorce, Ted Emerson is struggling to make his two-income mortgage on a cop’s salary. He’s attracted to his new neighbor, but he knows he can’t support her previous lifestyle. Although he’s decided to keep his distance, that’s tough to do when she burns down his fence. But, does she burn down his defenses?
I really liked this book. It was a nice easy read. The book reminded me of a Hallmark movie. I really like the relationship between the two main characters. I would definitely read another book by this author.
I received a copy of this book via Voracious Readers Only
I thoroughly enjoyed this book to the end. I enjoyed the banter and playfulness between the main characters. I enjoyed the truthfulness and unease of being divorced (having been there it was right on). I enjoyed the playfulness, the friendships and the clean read. The ONLY reason I did not rate this book five stars was the ending. All through the story the main character is concerned about getting in a relationship because of the recent divorce. It goes along that way until the end and then all of a sudden (spoiler), "Let's get married". I just felt it ended quickly and abruptly. Another 50-100 pages of exploring and making their relationship grow would have made a huge difference. Again - I LOVE the book. Just not the ending.
I absolutely loved this book. Such a great storyline and wonderful characters. I would definitely recommend this to anyone that loves a good clean romance novel. It is hard to find a cute, funny clean romance novel these days. A must read for sure!!!!!
A love story that happens organically, naturally, and realistically. I enjoyed learning about Ted and Jessica and their growth towards each other. The journey was so enjoyable I could't put it down. Thanks voracious readers only!
I really enjoyed this book. It was refreshing to see someone have such a positive attitude after their divorce and continue to grow as a person. The only downside was that the book seemed to wrap up very quickly. Jessica and Ted seemed to be taking things pretty slow after Jessica’s recent divorce but then that last chapter seemed to have them moving very fast unlike all the previous ones. It just seemed a little soon for all that happened in the last page or two. The author seemed to want that perfect happily ever after happen a lot quicker than I would have expected based on how the story unfolded and with how short of a period after Jessica’s divorce. But other than that, I really enjoyed the book and would recommend.
Side note: I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I received this book via Voracious Readers Only for review. The story was wonderfully realistic and the characters believable and made you want to encourage and cheer for them. I look forward to reading the other books in this series.
For the most part, I loved this book and would have given it 5 stars, but it had a minor hiccup in its editing: there was some missing punctuation and a few instances of where the writer or editor corrected or changed words but neglected to remove the original word(s), which meant for half a second, the sentence didn’t flow. These were easy to figure out and continue reading but an annoyance.
This was an enjoyable read. The romance was realistic and both main characters were written well, it was easy to root for them. Would be interested in reading more from this author.
Spoiler alert! I wrote this book. Breaking Barriers is a lighthearted story with a serious underlying theme; the first release of my Breaking Series.
In this book, I've revisited our years of living in a Houston subdivision. Come with me to the block party, swim in the neighbor's pool, and find out what happens when a grilling session becomes very, very hot.
