I have been writing as long as I can remember. I always knew I wanted to write books that someday many people could enjoy. I have a BA in English, a Masters in Business Administration and Marketing, and a Master's in Education.

I enjoy reading as much as I do writing and learned a lot while I was in school about the different forms of literature and the different genres all throughout the world. I only hope that people enjoy my books as much as I've enjoyed reading theirs.

When I'm not reading or writing I enjoy spending time with my family, going for walks or hiking, being outdoors, horseback riding, and watching movies.

A zombie story with a difference, this is not your typical zombies hunting down humans, who are fighting for survival or zombies becoming the new dominant species. No, it’s about the struggles of undead trying to live side by side with human apocalypse survivors and a murder mystery thrown in for good measure.

After a zombie plague, the government has created a cure that turns zombies into undead. These people are technically dead, but have all their human traits and emotions back and their craving for brains is gone. Or is it just suppressed?

The undead are closely observed and have to report once a fortnight for the next injection and counselling. They are supposed to be able to go back to their previous lives, but they face fear, prejudice and mistrust and sometimes outright hatred. Despite laws against set up to protect them from that prejudice and exclusion businesses, schools and society in general lay obstacles in the undead’s way to prevent them from living normal lives amongst humans.

Zooey experiences these obstacles first hand when she is treated unfairly upon her return to Uni and when she tries to get her old job back.
She still has the support of two human friends from before the apocalypse and unexpectedly from a stranger – a human.
Due to circumstances Zooey is sucked into a zombie group, run by a fellow zombie, whom she had met and formed a friendship with in the rehab centre, but thought dead now.
She trusts this guy, but should she?
Or should she trust the stranger, who works for the government?
And who is murdering people and stealing their brains?
It is suspected that the cure is failing and some of the undead are reverting to brain eating zombies, but is that true?

I haven’t read the first Zooey Zombie book, and when I read an ARC from an author I hadn’t experienced before I don’t read the synopsis. So, the story came as quite a surprise to me.

Strictly speaking I wouldn’t consider this a zombie story, since you could replace the undead with a number of other groups of social outcasts and you would have the same or similar scenarios, but being cured zombies does give it an interesting angle.

I wasn’t blown away, enjoyed the read and will probably read the first book and the subsequent books in the series.

I received this book as ARC copy free from the author and am leaving this review of my own volition.

I have finished writing and editing So Over the Undead. ARC copies just went out to my team, which I am very excited about. When I first started the Zooey Zombies series, I liked the characters but I wasn't sure yet where I wanted to take them in their adventure of being a former-zombie turned human again. It's only because of the recent changes in our own society that I knew what tone to set and what voice to give the main character, Zooey. Even though this book is about something impossible, it still has a lot of relevance for so many different people today. Sure, they might never have had to live through the horrors of being a zombie, but there are people out there fighting for their own rights still just like Zooey and her friends are. I hope you enjoy this quick, fun, and sometimes exciting read!

So Over the Undead was just as enthralling as the first book in the Zooey Zombie Series, It’s an Undead Thing. It drew me in from the first page and never let go. The Zooey Zombie Series will stay with me for a very long time if not forever.

Zooey is back! Yea! Zooey is an Undead. Zooey is trying to get her life back after the zombie apocalypse. A cure was found for the zombies that turned the dead into the undead.

Getting her old life back seems to be harder than Zooey imagined it would be. I mean she knew it would be hard but not quite this hard, right? Trying to be accepted back into society is way harder than she could ever have imagined.

Humans or lifers don’t want the undead around. Lifers think the undead should have stayed dead that no cure should have been made. They think the undead can’t be trusted.

But I think they are just afraid of the undead. They don’t know what to expect from them. They don’t know what the undead are going to do next. They are too afraid to take the time to get to know the undead. They are afraid that the undead will take over and rule the world.

Zooey faces more than one kind of battle in So Over the Undead. Not only is she facing the battle of just trying to fit into a whole new world and battling with lifers for the right just to be alive and a part of their world she is battling with her own self, her own guilt, and what she has done and come to terms with it.

I can’t seem to get enough of this undead world that was created for Zooey Zombie. I am so looking forward to more from this amazingly brilliant world of the undead. I can’t wait to dive into the next book in the Zooey Zombie Series. Well, at least I am hoping for more books in the very near future!

This is one series I highly recommend to all zombie fans! One-click your copy of So Over the Undead for a new twist on the undead today!

A veryunusual story but very interesting. The government found a cure for the Zombies if you will and Zooey was one of them. These people had to report regularly to be given a shot plus counseling. Zooey reinstated in college but life for the Undead was difficult. To make matters worse a series of murders were found which were similiar to what was known of zombie attacks but did not fit the the image but it still scared people. Then the government started cracking down on the Undead and Zooey did not know kwow what to expect. She just wanted to l ive a normal life. Well worth reading.

Zooey Beckett is returning to Harvard University. She graduated in June of 2020 with a Bachelor’s in Psychology. And then the zombie apocalypse happened. Now she is re-enrolling for her graduate studies in Cognition, Brain, and Behavior Psychology, but as an “Undead” this time.

What is an “Undead” you may ask?

It’s a new race of human called the Undead, people who had been changed into zombies by the rampaging virus and then brought back to life by what the government deemed the cure, but it wasn’t a cure, more of a suppression of one’s inner zombie. She’ll receive the “cure” twice a week for the rest of her life.

As Zooey tries to integrate back into society she is met with quite a few obstacles, prejudice and racism are just the tip of the iceberg that she is up against. Even her longtime friends Elizabeth and Oliver who have stood by her throughout everything, before and after the apocalypse, just can’t understand what she feels, let alone what she has gone through and is going through.

This is what I like to call a “cozy” zombie apocalypse story, that means is that I could read it again and again it’s that entertaining. The world building is different and exciting because it is post-apocalyptic, I loved this, and the world is rebuilding but with a twist. One of my favorite ideas in the story were the NATIONWIDE Z-ALERTS. The characters were your average snarky young adults with some good one liners. This was such an enjoyable story with the same underlying issues as we have today. What a compelling read for zombie readers and lovers a like.

It was my pleasure to receive a free copy of this book but that does not in any way affect my opinions in this review of this amazing story.

This is a really great, unusual zombie apocalypse story. Zooey was a zombie now cured by the government, she is struggling against the odds to reintegrate with human society. When a series murders apparently committed by other former zombies are committed the government begins to remove her rights. I loved the character, her emotion and her attitude as things get worse and worse f.or her kind. It is easy to see a parallel with history. Great story, well written with great characters, lots of twists and turns, times of prejudice and friendship, and a cracking ending that makes you want the next book now. Highly recommended. I received a complimentary copy from the Author and am leaving a honest voluntary review.

I really enjoyed reading Alex Apostol's continuation of Zooey and her new life. I like the different books that she writes. They sure grab you by the throat and won't let you go.
You will enjoy reading this book, it was sad, smiles, old and new friends don't put it down book.
I would gladly stand in line for the next book Alex Apostol writes.

A good story. The plot, zombies being brought back to life, is a little off the wall, but it works well in the story. I felt bad for Zooey, she was a likeable person and in an awful situation. Once I started reading, I didn't want to stop. I am looking forward to the next book in the series and hope to see more of the character Miles.

I really enjoyed this book. It is delightfully not what one would expect from a zombie book. This book is about the trials that Zooey faces as she tries to incorporate into society after being turned. It is very relevant to many problems facing society today and is well worth the read!

In book 2 we get to learn a little more about Zooey and get to watch her try to put her life back together. She has been going to school and trying to find a job but the lifers(non zombies/non cured zombies)don’t want anyone that is undead working for them or going to school with them. On top of everything else going on there is someone going around acting like a zombie and killing people, that only makes things worse for the undead. I loved this book and I think I know why I love this book so much. It reminds me in a way of izombie (which is a freaking amazing show). My heart broke with how the lifers were treating the undead, I can understand their fears but still, come on no need to kick someone when they’re already down. I can’t wait to see what book 3 will bring me. If you want a fast paced, fun read you should give these books a try

This is a 3.5 🌟 read rounded ⬆️ to 4 🌟.

I didn't enjoy this sequel nearly as much as the original, mainly due to the current political climate. (U.S. - Trump etc) Rather than a story about a person coping with being an Undead after a Zombie apocalypse and being saved with a "cure", it ended up being about a segment of the population being demonised, blamed, segregated and having their rights stripped away. So much hate - it was depressing.
As such I probably won't read further books of the series. 😮‍💨

One to mark off my "Want To Read" Goals list.
