The Sinful Suttons #3

Sutton's Surrender

Rate this book
A perfectly proper duke's heir and a fiercely loyal East End lady clash in this steamy Regency romp from USA Today bestselling author Scarlett Scott.

With his impeccable reputation and undeniable good looks, Garrick Weir, Viscount Lindsey, heir to the Duke of Dryden, has earned his place at the apex of fashionable London society. Every lady on the marriage mart wants him as her prize, and every young fop wants to be him. When his foolish younger brother declares his intention to marry a devious East End fortune hunter, Garrick is appalled. He vows to do everything in his power to stop the mésalliance from occurring.

Penelope Sutton has long considered Lord Aidan Weir her unlikely friend. But when he decides he wants to marry her to anger his father and condescending brother, she refuses to take part in his schemes. She would have told the arrogant Lord Lindsey as much had he not attempted to bribe her. And she most definitely would have informed him he should take his blunt back to Mayfair where it, and he, belongs…had he not kissed her.

Torn between a confounding attraction to Miss Sutton and the desire to make certain she stays far, far away from his brother, Garrick must prove she is every bit the title-hungry fortune seeker he believes her to be. Pen is equally determined to show the viscount how very wrong he is about her. But when their battle leads to much higher stakes than pride, everything changes for the rigidly proper lord and the rookeries-born lady.

Heat level: Scorching hot!

I read this book in one sitting yesterday and I forgot the hero’s name and had to double-check. All I remembered is a bunch of spicy scenes with an insta-lust connection that made me uncomfy. I mean… come on! sir? have some decency and wank off by urself pls.

Aidan Weir wants to anger his family and to do he needs to marry a commoner. Penelope, his friend, is certainly not a lady. When she rejected him, he told his family anyway, and avoid Penelope while she deals with his family’s uproar. The one who has to deal with it is Garrick Weir, the brother. When he tries to pay her off to reject Aidan (even when she already did) he can’t help but notice how desirable the young woman is. With the two of them searching for the same man, they both had to deal with this attraction. Garrick was having trouble because he’s really attracted to the “fortune hunter” girl who is supposedly going to be her sister in law, and Penelope is sickened that she lets him kiss her whenever.

Much like the cover, Garrick trampled our heroine many many times because he just so can’t resist her charms!! Her bosom!! According to this book, that counted as romance because the heroine liked it. Nope, not for me. I need emotional connection, not breast hypnotism.

The only emotional connection we had was the heroine being scared of the dark and the two Mc’s having a broken heart because of a previous treacherous love interest. How does this not count as emotional depth? because it’s never mentioned more than a passing. It’s never resolved. Discussed only a few times, and briefly at that.

The conflict was very weak, and quite honestly, weird. Hero’s main conflict was that he was attracted to a fortune hunter, a commoner. He accused her multiple times of doing deceiving things and when she proved herself to him multiple times, he still has no trust for her. And at the end, the main conflict was taken care of way too easily.

I wasn’t very sure how to review this book. Granted it is very easy to read and full of spicy scenes, but honestly, a romance book needs much more than that. The author puts a lot of thought into the seduction process and less about the plot and character depth. Which was why this was so easy to read in the first place.

My fault was probably reading this when I’m searching for some epic romance about true love and yada yada yada. As a hot spicy short read, however, this book would be fantastic!

I love this series

I really love this series. Now I have to wait until April to read the next one about Hart. I also hope there is a book with Aiden after he grows up a little more. He was an interesting character. But Garrick? He was an utter snob, a deplorable jerk and a hot mess! The passion between him and Pen burned up the pages.

Aiden informs his Ducal family that he is marrying Miss Sutton of the East End Suttons who own gambling hells! Not ton at all. Garrick goes to buy her off and she is unlike anyone he has ever met before. They strike sparks off each other from the first moment. She is not betrothed to Aiden but doesn't quite let Lord Lordly know it. But then Aiden disappears and Pen and Garrick look for him.

Garrick was quite the snobby Lord during their hunt except when he kissed her. Those were heart melting but he was very cruel to her also. There is one scene that is heartbreaking and I really hated him. Both of course we have an HEA and I loved it. I don't want to give much away but it was worth the read. Now I have to wait two months for the next one.

Quick Review
- I love Scarlett Scott, and I adore this series.
- The latest installation brought a deliciously sweet romance between a Lord - most proper, and a lady - most unsuitable. What ensued was a battle of wills, butting of heads, and a whole lot of unwarranted attraction.
- I loved watching Garrick struggle to come to terms with his emotions, but his lashing out was not something I liked. Pen calmly setting him in his place and disparaging him of any misplaced notions was amazing.
- Great banter, sweet passion, a lot of humour, some angst, delightful story, interesting side characters made this novella a perfect, cosy afternoon read.

My Recommendation
Ms Scott rarely disappoints. I am eagerly awaiting the release of the next one in the series!

Lord Lindsey, Miss Sutton
Lord Lordly, Penelope
Garrick, Pen
As their names changed, so did their worlds. Garrick is the ideal Lord. Arrogant, stiff, holding himself and everyone around him to a level of perfection that is exhausting. When his younger brother decided to marry below his station, Garrick steps in to stop it.
Then he meets her. Pen.
A refreshing breath of air, unlike anyone or anything he has known.
And Lord help the Lord himself, all he wants is to touch, to hold, to claim.
The two strike sparks. Which ignite into flames.
Their banter is witty and I adored the fact that Pen gave as good as she got. Strong, fierce, and wonderful, she was a great character and perfect for the man lurking behind the mask.
It is no secret I adore this author's works and this book is no exception.
Well written, and highly enjoyable.
And you might need a cold drink a time or two...

Sutton’s Surrender is my favorite Sutton-Winter book yet. I love Garrick and Penelope so much. Pen rally gave uppity “Lord Lordly” a good turn around and Garrick came to love and appreciate Pen as the wonderful person she molded herself to be.

I was so happy Garrick wasn’t a boozing-rake-gambling fool like many upper class males were at that time. Pen was simply delightful, loyal, resilient, and intelligent.

I can’t wait for Hart Sutton, whose book is next.

Couldn’t finish the book!! No story,
No character development, no chemistry. The MCs just kissed each other every time they met while disliking each other. I could have ignore that but Hero was kissing the heroine when he assumed she was his brother’s fiancé. Then at every turn hero insulted the heroine and the next moment heroine let him kiss her. It was so hard to read. I thunk I am done with this author. Seriously!!! So weak female character… she didn’t have any pride , self respect. The only think she did was putting a proud face . Nothing nothing was interesting about her.
Couldn’t give more than one star.

Lord Garrick Lindsey comes across as a bit of an arse****. You know the sort, he's always right. He knows better than a female. I liked the feisty Miss Penelope Sutton - she calls him Lord Lordly 😂. Because he's so haughty and arrogant. After he gets what he wanted from Pen, he said, "this was a mistake". A lovely HEA though. Aah! He truly loves her. The epilogue is naughty too - in the carriage no less. I enjoyed this story. 4☆

Lord Lordly

I have been pretty excited for this book. I especially like two types of heroes - completely over the top morally bankrupt heroes or heroes that live by an intensely strong moral code. Both types of heroes have similar problems to work past. In this book we have the second kind and there isn't much to dislike about the judgemental snobbish Lord being brought to his knees by someone he'd otherwise disdain.

This was necessarily a slower burn than many of Scott's other books. The hero had a moral code that he felt strongly about and he just wanted to do the right thing. I appreciated his internal struggle - holding yourself to higher standards and trying to figure out how what you desire fits into the mold you have created for yourself can be quite complicated.

Pen was a pretty straightforward character. She loves her family and friends and was willing to do what she needed for them, and there is nothing really to complain or write home about except that - there is nothing really to complain or write home about.

Aiden is a fun morally greyish character and I hope to see him again in a boom of his own some day.

Wonderful story of enemies to lovers/opposites attract. Garrick Weir, Viscount Lindsey, heir to the Duke of Dryden, is starched and pressed and seemingly unmovable. Penelope Sutton, has lived her life in the rookeries of London, and with her brothers runs the Sinner's Palace, a gaming hell. sparks fly the minute they meet, and gets even better as the story progresses. Loved these characters, the story was engaging and torturous feelings palpable. Can be read as a standalone, but recommend the entire series.

The fourth Sutton to find love & the third in this series, yes it could be read on its own but the Suttons are a delight & as with all series I have to start from the beginning & believe me you won’t be disappointed. Another book that I found very hard to put down, the characters are wonderful, Garrick is so haughty & arrogant – not arrogant but confident! I fell for him & loved how he fell hard & fast for Pen. Pen is a delight & a complete hoyden, the chemistry between the pair is combustible, their verbal bantering is a joy. Their journey to a HEA is engrossing, enthralling, captivating & steamy – I loved it
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

Gerrick is a pompous arse. He spends most of the book telling himself and Pen how horrible she is. (All assumptions on his part.) Then by the end we’re suppose to believe he’s in love with her? And this strong smart business women lets herself be treated this way and falls in love with him too? No, i just don’t buy it. I wanted romance, but this wasn’t that.
Some things were hinted at, but never really discussed or followed up on too. She’s afraid of the dark, but we’re four siblings in and should know by now their dad use to lock them up in dark rooms. This was touched on in one scene then never again. The story lacked planning in that sense.

They both had previous loves that ended poorly but we don’t exactly know why or how. How can we readers connect to characters when so much is left out?

Scarlet Scott is hit or miss for sure. She has such good premises for her books but they often come up short.

Scarlett Scott is also often labeled as steamy or erotica, be warned this is another book where sex doesn’t happen until the end of the book. Once at the end and once in the epilogue. This is not erotica.

I finished this one in one night.. The sparks fly instantly between Garrick and Pen.. I definitely love the strong lead with Pen and the easy banter between her and Garrick. The love the laughter and steam level is definitely off the chart..

And I loved seeing a mention of a character/club from another series..

I definitely look forward to Hart and Emma's story..

I received this as a gift from the Author and these are purely my thoughts and no one else's views

This story is absolutely delicious. I’m in love with Garrick. He’s a pompous ass. A sweet, beautiful and stubborn viscount who lives and dies by his rules. He wants to marry the perfect Lady Hester to make his father —who has a weak heart—, happy. But once he kisses the delectable Pen Sutton, his life is going upside down. I loved that. The way he has to learn to enjoy his choices.
Pen is an amazing female character. I felt connected to her. So brave and sure of herself. She desires Garrick and she gives herself to that. They are great together. The dialogs are flawless, the sexy times scorching hot, and there are some chapters that are really emotional.
I can’t recommend this book enough! Another winner in this perfect series.

Fantastic! This is the third book of the Sinful Suttons series but the first for me of anything by Scarlet Scott and I am hooked! Wow. So much to love in this book.
The Suttons themselves are a family of siblings that look out for one another after growing up in the harsh realities of the East End and an abusive father. You can really feel the connection the siblings have through the writing.
Enter Aiden and Garrick Weir, the spare and the heir to a dukedom. Aiden is a playboy and wants to shock his family by announcing his engagement to his friend Penelope Sutton but then disappears. Garrick is the big brother who has come to clean up his little brother's mess but instead will find himself in a mess as well the moment he meets the illustrious Pen Sutton. Together they need to find Aiden and sort out this betrothal.
I had to read this book in a day, I couldn't put it down. The angst and tension are so very well done by the author and the writing is strong. The transformation of Garrick was nice to see while Pen never lost sight of who she was. And her pet name of him was priceless!
No editing or grammatical mistakes were found. Steam level- high! I really enjoyed every bit of this book and found that not one part lagged or was boring. Readers will absolutely love this book of the series. I highly recommend this one.

It's nice. The first book was the best, second was ok and this, the third is just nice. Should I be scared for the 4th part??

Sutton's Surrender is Penelope Sutton's hea. She's well educated and manages the accounts for her brothers gaming den. I liked her character- no nonsense , straight forward girl who has neither unnecessary airs nor high lofty expectations for herself. She's loyal.and her friend is our hero's younger brother.

This is an enemies to lovers ,insta love story. The problem is I didn't feel the connect between the H &h. Multiple.sex scenes is not romance. They were constantly bickering and showing one other down, but there was no tenderness nor affection. Garrick is a stuck up.pompous viscount who's forever insulting her. Never once has he appreciated her. In fact, the younger brother Aiden shows more concern.

The plot is so simple it's a little disappointing. And everything just gets sorted out - just like that in a jiffy. Infact, the entire premise of the book is faulty and unnecessary.

I really like this family.and I want the author to really do justice unto them. Till the next in series... 🤞

"Sweet angels and saints."

That about says it all! A searing love story, that is classic Scarlett Scott, with her well thought out characters and situations that tantalize the imagination!

He was a true stiff necked Viscount, hautey, proper, judgemental and always acting as expected, regardless of inner feelings.. those he may not have even acknowledged.

She was the total opposite. High spirited, loyal to her family, ready to help a friend, who was unfortunately his brother, whom he had tried to warn her away from.

But the attraction and passion could not be denied. Another great addition to this series and cannot wait for the next!

This book for me did not come close to the very high rating. It was somewhat cheesy and just didn’t fit the mold I was hoping for. And done get me wrong I sincerely like this author and have read many of her books this one just felt flat. Nothing really built up it just was and the hero well he did not quite make the alpha category. Plot 3(1-10) steaminess 7(1-10(

Oh My! I love a spunky, feisty heroine and Penelope Sutton certainly fits the bill. She can dish it out as well as take it.
But she has met her match in the handsome and arrogant Viscount Lindsey, whom she purposely calls, “Lord Lordly”. This delicious story has wonderful dialogue, with the most delightful banter between the hero and heroine that I’ve read in a long time (maybe ever)! He enjoys riling her with his insults, that she in turn throws right back at him. Nobody has ever spoken to him like that! He’s heir to a bloody Dukedom for cryin’ out loud! But he can’t forget her, and he can’t stay away from her either. Their chemistry ignites the pages of this book! Don’t miss it!

I have read all of Scarlett Scott’s books and this one, the 3rd instalment of the Sinful Sutton’s series, did not disappoint.

Garrick is ultra aware of his role as the heir to a dukedom and is a model member of the aristocracy. He does his duty to his family, doesn’t over imbibe and is sensible in his choice of future bride.

Penelope is a brash, fun loving East End girl who works in her family’s gaming hells. She likes to dress as a man and have fun adventures with her good friend Aiden (who just happens to be Garrick’s dissolute brother!).

When Aiden announces to his family that he is going to marry Pen, Garrick vows to put an end to their relationship. And this is when the fun begins…..

If you like a romance with plenty of steam, witty banter, East End cant and an irresistible attraction then you’ll love this book.

There are 2+ on page, detailed love scenes so if this is not your thing then step away now!

Thank you Scarlett Scott for beautiful dedication =) I appreciate your amazing kind words. And I thank you for your writing magic! Also, I am so in love with Scarlett Scott's writings! Her books are all wonderfully written, with unique storylines.
This is book 3 in the Sinful Sutton's. And it's Miss. Penelope Sutton and Lord Garrick Weir Viscount Lindsey, heir to the Duke of Dresden. Penelope is one of the younger sisters of the Sutton's. Jasper Sutton is her older brother and founder of the successful East End gaming hells. Penelope has been good friends with Lord Aiden who is Lord Garricks younger brother. Garrick is on a mission to meet Miss. Sutton and dissuade her from being a fortune hunter and marrying his younger brother.
Miss. Penelope is a beautiful, educated and intelligent lady. She is a force to be reckoned with, until she and Lord Garrick meet.
Lord Garrick is gorgeously handsome and honorable and duty bound, he is betrothed to an honorable lady. But, of course when they meet Penelope and Garrick they are attracted to each other. This is a beautiful fast paced historical romance with two people from different sides of society who fall in love!
"Icy blue eyes burned into hers. She is bold and daring and intelligent. She is is not afraid to speak her mind or face a villain with a pistol." Their is more to this lovely dialogue from the book at 90% and it made so emotional and so happy to hear Garrick describe the woman he is love with.

Such a beautiful romantic storyline with pretty hot scenes and then witty moments that made me laugh. Lord Lordly, her nickname for Garrick in the beginning.
Each book are standalone's but so much better if read in order. The Sutton family are a force to reckon with. And I am so in love with Penelope's and Garrick's story =)

I was given an Advanced Readers Copy of this book by the author through Bookfunnel for an honest review.

Sutton’s Surrender is the third instalment of Scarlett Scott’s The Sinful Suttons series and it is a delightful addition.
Horrified that his younger brother is contemplating marrying the wholly unsuitable sister of a lowborn East End gaming hell owner, the very proper Garrick Weir, Viscount Lindsey resolves to save his brother from the clutches of the scheming harpy. He offers her money to keep away confident that will get rid of the fortune hunter.
Penelope Sutton has only ever thought of Lord Aiden Weir as a very good friend. When he proposed simply as a means of annoying his father and brother, she flatly refused. But when the arrogant Viscount Lindsey tries to bribe her, she certainly isn’t going to make his life easier by simply informing him of this fact.
Pen and Garrick continue to clash despite their overwhelming attraction to each other. Added to that is the fact that Lord Aiden seems to have disappeared completely. In trying to find out what has happened to him, Pen and Garrick find that opposites definitely attract and they may have misunderstood each other from the start. But can Garrick overcome the rigid expectations placed on him and the difference in their social class in order to find their happily ever after.
Scarlett always comes up with such gems of characters and storylines. The Suttons have been a real joy to follow. Pen and Garrick are such opposites but can’t deny how right they are for each other. One of my favourite tropes – the uptight lord and the brash but sweet woman who forces him to unbend. This is a fairly quick read but there is still plenty passion, emotion and action.
This can be read as a stand-alone story but the rest are equally as fun and steamy so I would give them all a try. I definitely recommend this and am looking forward to the next in the series.
I received an ARC for my honest review.

Garrick Weir, Viscount Lindsey, heir to the Duke of Dryden, is the ideal lord in society's eyes - he is handsome, kind, polite, never creates anything near scandal; he's just perfect. His younger brother, Aidan, is an exact opposite of Garrick & now he has come home to announce his betrothal to an East End, fortune hunting harlot. Now, it was Garrick's assignment to buy her off & send her far away from his brother & the scandal he would cause - simple solution!?!

And then, after sneaking, bribing & paying his way in to Sutton's Sinner's Palace, he met her. She was gorgeous, smart, fiery & went toe-to-toe with him! She addressed him as Lordly Lord & would not take his money. He could see why his brother was fascinated with her, but he had to accomplish convincing her to take the money. Oh, what a fun time this would be, for both of them!

I won't get into the story in my review because it's cheating the reader but let me say that the story grabs your interest immediately & keeps you quickly turning pages. The instant attraction, heat, passion & loving feelings between Pen & her Lordly Lord are amazing & their story is fantastic; so, you won't want to miss this book! I voluntarily read & reviewed an Advanced Reader's Copy of this book; all thoughts & opinions are my own.

Starring Penelope “Pen” Sutton and Garrick Weir, Viscount Lindsey… aka Lord Lordly.

Tropes: Enemies to Lovers

Scarlett Scott has, once again, created a book boyfriend for me to drool over!! Oooh!! Garrick was so delicious trying to be all stoic and regal when an Auburn-haired minx is trying to disrupt his world!! I loved seeing Pen ruffle his feathers. And his speech at the end. Yasssss… THAT is the reason why I read romances, y’all!!! Freaken had me ugly crying AF. And I read that part 4 times before I closed my e-reader(at 5am!!). SO SIGH-worthy!!

Pen may sound like a lady, but she’s 100% East Ender. She does what she wants and goes where she wants… and she can’t help picking at Garrick’s posh exterior. I loved their cat and mouse chase… and the fact that they were always kissing!!! It was very entertaining!!

I’m on the fence whether or not I want Aiden (Garrick’s brother) to have his own story. But I’m curious to know why he was such a scapegrace… enough to get his family mad at him. And Pen saw something good in him, that’s why they were friends. So I kinda want to see him grow up a bit.

When I want a book filled with steam and amazing characters that’ll give me the feely-feels… I know I can always count on Scarlett Scott to deliver all those things and MORE!! This book made my heart happy!! I can not wait to read more of the Suttons!!

Another winner from Scarlett Scott!!

I received a complimentary copy of this book. I voluntarily review it and the comments are 100% my own.

My Star Rating: 5 stars
Ugly cried AF. Major book hangover. Characters and storyline were freaken amazeballs. Made me wanna hug the author for writing a book that gave me all the feels!! Will definitely be reading this story over and over and over again!!

This is another wonderfully crafted addition to this great series. I loved Penelope Sutton and Garrick Weir, Viscount Lindsey's story. Pen is a fiercely independent woman who helps her family run the Sinner's Palace in the East End. But she also loves to run wild with Garrick's brother Aidan. Just to annoy his family Aidan proposes an engagement to Pen. The impossibly proper and deliciously gruff Garrick will not let this happen and will do everything in his power to stop it. Little does he know that when he meets Penelope Sutton he is attracted to her despite believing she is a fortune seeker. The sparks fly whenever they are together. Can two people from opposite worlds find a love that they didn't know they were looking for? You will love this story. I can't wait for the next installment of this series that features Hart Sutton and Lady Emma Morgan. I received an ARC of this book and is my honest review.

Sizzling connections! The instant Garick , Viscount Lindsay, first encountered Pen Sutton their chemistry leapt off the page. An East End Hoyden who runs a gaming hell along with her brothers, they could not be more different, their worlds further apart. Their connection however is magnetic and cannot be denied. Believing her betrothed to his brother, he visits to pay her off to leave his brother. Despite that, he cannot resist the pull to her. When his brother goes missing, the two must work together to free him from his captors. But the continued closeness only brings them closer together. Can a future Duke find love with a low born hoyden?
I loved the constant back & forth between this two. He was incredibly arrogant and uppity and she never let him forget it. Having so many older brothers, she was tired of men telling her what to do and was determined to be her own woman. I could not put this book down, and flew through it in one sitting.

I really loved this story! I often find with novellas that the pace is a little too fast and things kind of happen too quickly. That's not the case with this book -- the love story is developed so well and everything flows extremely nicely. I finished this book in one sitting -- it's just that good!!

I loved Pen and Garrick and how much they challenged each other. They're both really complex characters and I felt like they jumped off the page. It was super satisfying to see them get their HEA. Definitely my favorite of the series so far! SO excited for the next book in the series!!!

I always love reading Scarlett's books - and the world she created for the Winters and the Suttons is a wonderful place to spend some time reading. Scarlett's ability to create such realistic characters and dialogue is amazing. Garrick (Lord Lordly) is so pompous - it's easy to see the animosity between him and Penelope. But as usual, you can still see the tension and attraction sizzling between the two. And despite themselves, they can't hold back.

This story has a wonderful problem to solve to keep the Pen and Garrick in each other's company, all the passion you hope for from Scarlett's stories, and a lovely HEA. Definitely worth the read!
