Why are the fairies disappearing? When Blaezi is banished from the Fayes, a fairy troupe suffering under the supreme rule of their domineering queen, and forced to live among the lowly Naturals, she struggles to solve the mystery behind their declining numbers. Her investigation leads her to Kat, a sadistic sophomore bent on creating beauty on her own terms. Kat realizes her dream of making the world a prettier place by sacrificing fairy tails and stealing Glamour, an enchanted dust capable of transforming humans, disguising fairies, and much more. By exploiting fairy magic, Kat makes herself a nationally known celebrity and the object of Blaeziø¢ TMs retribution, but eventually, Blaezi and Kat find they must work together to their own survival. In the midst of the Oklahoma suburbs, European fairy lore combines with the Native American tradition of Little People in this enchanting novel.

I don't recall how this book came to me but when I read the plot I was interested to find out how the faeries were disappearing as the blurb hinted at what was to come from within the covers. Plus I noticed the main character, kat shared my name so of course I was hoping she would find The Light and come to be the heroine and be an awesome: PERSON.

Boy was I wrong. Talk about a mental breakdown of reading all about "yourself" as your name keeps appearing in print and you're shaking your head at "the other kat." (lol....)

The characters are high schoolers and it being a good read for that audience has a great message about character building and choice-making. Even though, it is a much younger type of genre for me, I did enjoy the story and my inner child got to enjoy some faerie adventures.

Something that I tend to notice when picking up books is the weight of them.....perhaps it all boils down to paper stock ...yet have you ever noticed how some books are really HEAVY while others are very light-weight almost like feathers. This book is HEAVY and it's a little thing.

After reading it, I felt as if the heaviest of the book was simply the message, this is a loaded story with a great self-evaluation kind of reflection. Now was that because I was reading about a character named kat or was it because in all of us comes those moments when we truly face how we see the importance of ourselves in relation to all those around us. Either way, book and plot are worth the read.

If you're looking for a gift for a loved one who enjoys fantasy, fairies, and nature... this is a good one to pick up and pass along.

And as the author penned in the inscription: "Remember true glamour resides within."
Definitely a message for All to receive.... sometimes a reminder is needed to fully begin to remember.
