As alpha of a nomadic pack of wolf shifters, Abel’s home is on the road, stopping in one place long enough to help and then move on. His pack lives on the fringes—and like it that way. So when an ally pack tells him he and his men are ancient warriors reincarnated, they must join forces to save the world, and that they have soulmates—he calls bullsh*t.
Abel has no need for a soulmate but he can’t ignore the demon kings threatening to destroy the world and every human on it. His men will fight, but on their terms. He doesn’t need the responsibility of a new pack, and Abel’s life is too brutal for something so fragile as love.
Micah has spent his life living in fear since witnessing his parents’ murder as a child. People are dangerous, so was the dark, and just about everything else located outside of his tiny room. His world is small on purpose. He’s content living that way, until his best friend needs his help and to give it, Micah must stop hiding under the covers and face the unknown.
Abel spots Micah right away, terrified and in a place he has no reason being. He’s so human it hurts and Abel can’t allow someone so soft and breakable to roam unprotected. Choosing to guard him has nothing to do with the way Micah makes Abel feel—like his body is a pile of dry kindling and Micah is the match. Abel doesn’t deserve the gentle young man, but when a demon king sets his sights on Micah, Abel has no choice but to turn to his allies while bringing Micah into his world.
Micah has no idea why he’s suddenly the target of a demon king. He'd been oblivious to the existence of demons, angels, and shifters, but he’ll have to trust one if he wants to live. Abel is dangerous. The alpha also awakens a part of Micah he never knew existed, and more importantly, he’s Micah’s only hope of surviving.
Lust is the second book in the Wolves of Resurrection Road series. It is an action-packed, swelteringly hot, mpreg romance that continues in a world of mystery, mayhem, and magic.
I liked this one better than the first though it felt a little rushed at the end. I love sweet, innocent characters and Micah fit the bill. I loved how he still stood up to Abel when necessary. I’m looking forward to more in the series.
We continue with the gang as able now finds his mate. I know Abel doesn’t believe but he finds him. That’s when all hell breaks loose. And I mean literally. Having a demon king become obsessed with you. Through it all they find love, and family. Pack. The writing was good, the smexy was nice and the side characters… I’m hoping camel gets his cherub but maybe it’s bagers turn?
I love how Abel was just not able to ignore or leave Micah no matter how much he wanted to. I thought that Micah was much braver than he thought he was.
I am never disappointed in a book by KiKi Burrelli because I always know exactly what I am going to get. Possessive Alpha? Check...Steamy sex scenes? Check...Surprise baby? and Check! How we get to the baby and the suspense plotline are what make each book in the connecting series exciting. When we last left Abel's small pack, him and Badger were heading off on their own while Camel decided to stay back with Pani and Dom of the Cathedral pack. Abel may not have believed Pani and Dom about being some type of soul warrior with his very own cherub mate out there, but it becomes apparent quite early on in this book that he should have listened.
Enter Micah. Micah is a shy homebody who tends to go out of his way to make others comfortable, while ignoring his own needs. The first time in a long time he decides to go against his nature and use his backbone the poor man ends up in trouble. This of course is witnessed by Abel, which makes it perfect timing for him to save the day. Besides, that's what his pack is known for. They help others and then move on. Except this time, there is no moving on. Micah is exactly what Abel was warned about, his cherub mate, which means it's back to the Cathedral pack they go.
Of course there are more battles with the Demon Kings. We get to be privy to a few details about the last two cherubs left. Apparently one is always known to be holding a weapon and the other is the healer. I think we may have met the weapon wielding cherub in this one, but that's only a small guess. I could definitely be wrong on that front. I guess we'll find out when book 3 comes out and either Camel or Badger get their man!
Micah is always afraid but agrees to help his friend. They go to a bar to hunt down the friends ex and Micah meets Abel. Romance/mystery with action great combination!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Which isn’t a surprise as I’ve enjoyed all of Kiki’s stories that I’ve read especially the books from this universe. After helping Dominion and Pani k*ll the demon king that was after Pani, Abel and his pack mates Badger and Camel heard from them that they’re all reincarnated soul warriors just like Dominion and that they must join forces to help save the world, not only that but they also have soul mates. Camel decided to stay with the Cathedral pack but Abel and Badger didn’t believe a word that they were told so decide to see where the road takes them as that’s what they’re used to since they’re a nomadic pack and never really stay in one place. Him and his men will do the right thing and help save the world as well as humanity from the demon kings but on their own terms.
Ever since Micah witnessed his parents m*rder as a child he’s lived his life in fear, until he steps completely out of his comfort zone to help his friend Linus get the money owed to him by his cheating ex-boyfriend as he paid for his car to get fixed and Linus needs the money so he can get a plane ticket to Florida to attend Art School. Abel notices Micah as soon as he walks into the bar and it’s pretty obvious that he’s never been into such a place as he’s terrified. He wants to protect him but he doesn’t think it’s got anything to do with the way Micah makes him feel or really he’s just in denial. Abel was planning to drop Micah safe back at home and be on his way but when Micah’s friend Miles happens to be a lower level demon he knows that in order to keep Micah safe he has to go to the Cathedral pack for help.
I thought that Micah being terrified went away pretty quickly but that could be because he felt safe the first time in forever especially with Abel and Pani and the rest of the pack. I’m really looking forward to reading Badger and Camel’s stories when they’re released. I’m thinking that Camel and Fulton will end up being mates after the questions Fulton was asking at the end of the book, and considering that he held a homemade wolverine glove to Camel’s throat I’m guessing that he’s going to be the fighter and Badger’s mate will be the healer of the remaining mates but only time will tell. I’d definitely recommend this book, series, universe and author to everyone.
Well, it’s definitely my fault that I didn’t read the previous books – it would have been incredibly helpful in identifying everyone! Nevertheless, I really enjoyed this book. It’s got demons, werewolves, cherubs and that’s just for starters!
I was a little concerned that I would find Micah a little bit wimpy, but this guy had a spine of steel and was there for his new family with bells on. I loved the Alpha Abel and the fact that he respected Micah despite wanting to wrap him up in cotton wool. It’s not often you find that it’s not the alphas saving the day.
There weren’t many sex scenes and the mpreg kinda passed in a flash (I shall say no more because spoilers). This story kept me interested and turning the pages, enjoying each new revelation. I’m going to try to read the rest of the books in the series – I believe there are at least eight of them? Anyway, start at the beginning so you can enjoy the characters that pop up and follow the storyline. You won’t regret it!
4/5 but only because even though it said it was book two, there appears to be a lot of crossover which would have been handy to know before reading!
I received an ARC from GayRomanceReviews in exchange for an honest review.
This is the 2nd book in the Wolves of Resurrection Road and worth the wait. Patience is a virtue and I'm so glad I have that. Abel isn't a believer in fated mates. That all changes when, while sitting in a bar, in walks meek and mild Micha and "bingo" emotions Able doesn't know how to handle hit him like a ton of bricks. Micha might be a quiet one aka/pretty one but when his friend Linus needs to back money loaned to Linus' ex, he finds his backbone to force the payback. This is where Abel finds Micha. Little known to the other is that this human Micha is a partial solution to the "cherub" mystic surrounding the theme to these stories. Essential characters from previous books, thank goodness for the glossary in the back of this book, make important appearances with crucial consequences. A great addition to this ongoing series. I received an ARC for my honest and voluntary review.
Absolutely loved Grumpy loner wolf Abel and his new found "human" mate Micah. Abel does not believe in fated mates and is quite growly about that fact!! But when he runs into little sweet Micah by chance, let's just say he has to fight some of those fated instincts!!! Told from both POV I loved seeing how these two changed and flourished with each other! Their inner musings are quite humorous and their initial meeting where Abel kind of kidnaps Micah on his motorcycle is adorably funny! There are a lot of other characters and world building so I do not want to give too much away! Going to be a great series! I received an ARC of this book and recommend for those who love a good shifter series with over- arching plots and characters that really grow on you! Good Mix of action, romance, steam and fun!
Abel and his pack of lone wolves aren’t quite so alone anymore, even if they all can’t admit it. When he sees another man trying to be brave and stand up for his friend, he can’t help but lend a hand. And when a demon tries to grab Micah, all bets are off. Back in Portland it is obvious that Micah is one of the cherubs but there is a demon king after him who can only be killed by his own hand. How they all manage to accept their position in the Cathedral pack and defeat the demon king Asmara kept me on the edge of my seat. I still loving seeing Jake and Claus around and can’t help but root for them along with everyone else. I look forward to the rest of the team finding the remaining two missing cherubs in the next books.
First off - This should not be considered a standalone. Please don’t try to read it as one. None of the books are cliffhangers but the world is so complex that you may get confused. At a minimum, you will be missing the depth of the story.
The first (prior) book in this series was very complicated because it was setting the stage for a very complex world and plot line. This book was an absolute pleasure to read since that first book had already handled a lot of the deep lore and this was more about the story and the fighting of the baddie. There were twists and turns that I didn’t expect and I honestly think it was the most well written book by this author to date. Just a wonderful and exciting ride into a really well crafted world with amazing characters.
There’s a lot of plot to pack into these books, and a zillion characters, so I guess it’s not surprising that it felt like I never had time or space to really get to know Abel. A lot of his history is still unclear and he feels indistinguishable from several other alphas at this point. That’s disappointing because the Royal Paynes alphas are all distinct and stand on their own as separate characters, but Abel feels like a lightly shaded character outline filled out with stereotypes. Micah feels more like a real character, and the plot continues to be intriguing, but I enjoyed this one more for overall plot development and the continued story of Claus & Jake than the main characters’ romance.
Able doesn’t believe in soulmates even though when he meets Micah he knows there’s something there. Micah also knows something is happening between them, just not what.
Able and Micah faced a lot of challenges so there’s a lot action and a whole bunch of characters to remember (having read the connected series’ was very helpful with this). Backstory was well established from the connection.
I liked the characters and the story. This universe is very ripe with possible stories and I’m looking forward to them.
A guardian and a cherub made an interesting, hot, and slightly bloody story.
Abel is a nomadic wolf lead a group of wolves that like moving around. When he's asked to help save the world he steps up to the plate.
Micah has been scared since witnessing his parents murder. Now that his friend needs help he has to stop hiding to help him out.
Micah has become the obsession of a demon and Abel is there to save him. Their chemistry is good and the sex is hot. The story kept me engaged from page one. This author never disappoints with her stories. I'm not so patiently waiting for the next book. Highly recommend this series and author.
This book was MUCH better than the first one! It helped that I had a little bit better idea of how this world worked from book one, but it was overall just more of a linear story. I got this as an ARC, and at first didn’t realize it was part of the same series I hadn’t really liked in book one. Once I realized, I decided I would give it a chance but if I didn’t like it I would stop after a few chapters. I could barely put it down! This book has me really looking forward to book three now! My boy complaint is that for a book named Lust, there’s not very much heat. It took a while to even get to the first sexy scene, then there were like 1 1/2 more…disappointing!
Lust is the fantastic continuation of Pride. Love the character of Abel, how protective and passionate he is with Micah, the respect he gives him by letting him make the decisions for himself and not imposing his own. Micah is amazing, I love how loyal he is to his best friend and that he would put his life at risk to help him fulfill his dream. I love how Micah is acquiring greater ease together with Abel and expressing what he wants and when he wants it. I loved how Pani and Micah related. There are twists and turns that you don't see coming and I love the mythology that is used in the story. I can't wait to read the next book
Abel is the Alpha of a small pack of nomadic shifters. None of them really want to settle down. He sees Micah and knows he’s going to get into trouble. He must help him even if he doesn’t want to. I absolutely adored Micah! Micah had witnessed his parents murder and now he’s afraid of his own shadow. He was so innocent, but also stubbornly strong. The story is full of twists and turns and is set up perfectly for the next one. Overall, fantastic! It was really well written, highly recommend. I’m voluntarily leaving a review form an advanced copy that I received. My reviews are solely based on my thoughts and opinions.
Whoa boy! Abel has a lot of notions about who he is and what he does and does not want. He likes his mobile lifestile, stopping to help, then moving on. He doesn't believe in fated mates, until Micah walks in then, Abel is hit with the thunderbold! He knows he must protect Micah at all costs. Then the adventure happens and he really needs to protect Micah from a world he previously had no idea existed. Fantastic story. Abel is fierce and Micah is a selfless sweetie. This is a 'can't put down until the end' book. Characters are fantastic, the theme is amazing. Excellent series. Well done! I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I enjoyed Micah and Abel journey to happiness while confronting the increasing dangers that appeared in their way and how new information and details change the perspective and the flow of the events. I loved how their relationship blooms, the way the new additions to the pack integrate so flawlessly and the new bonds that formed inside the growing family. I simply adored the babies and the perspective of having the family grow which brings happiness and also a bit of distress for the unknown. I enjoyed the read and I'm looking forward to see what happens next.
I hate adding titles to reviews. Anyway, I was surprised when I saw this title pop up because I hadn’t thought about the series in a bit. I enjoyed it a lot. I thought Micah changed a lot faster than I would have liked, but it was nice to see grumpy Abel get a sweet guy. And Petal is adorable.
I am going to assume Fulton is Camel’s mate, but I don’t know what elemental Fulton would be. I wonder if he and Camel are the healing couple in the texts? I guess we’ll find out.
Micah the sweet little scaredy innocent is so overcome by lust for Abel. It seemed that once he and Abel kissed his lust hit new heights. They are an adorable couple and Abel wanted Micah to choose him without the "soulmates" thing guiding his decision. But once Micah said he wanted Abel, that completely changed how he handled things. As Micah fits into his new family he become a minx
Id still love to know what the ring was and hope we see more of the hellhound. Cant wait for Badger and Camels storied.
This is a great book by Kiki Burrelli. The world-building is fantastic, and the characters are well-developed and compelling. You definitely need to read book 1, Pride, before this one though, as it provides so much background to what is going on here. I loved the way Abel stepped in to save Micah, and I really liked the way Micah grew and became his true self through the book. Warriors, cherubs, and demons create an intriguing and compelling storyline. Full of action and excitement. I can't wait for the next book.
I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.
When grumpy lone wolf Abel meets mild human Micah he realizes that he is in for a big change. Never one to belief in "mates" he is shocked by the feelings he is experiencing for Micah. Dragging Micah into his world causes quite the stir. I really enjoyed the connection these two have. There is plenty of action to be found in Lust. I love the world building done here. The secondary characters add such dimension to this series. I can't wait for the next book in the Wolves of Resurrection Road series!
Oh my goodness I love this series so much. Kiki has several series that tie into each other & absolutely love it. This is her newest series and it's so great so far. Micah thinks he's just human but there is so much more to him. Abel doesn't wanna believe what the others are telling him but when he meets micah, the more he is around him the more he believes what he was told. These two are perfect for each other & Patel is just so sweet. The story has a wonderful ending & I can't wait to the next one. ❤️❤️😀😀
I really loved Abel and Micah, and felt their story was done with justice. For people who have read the others in the series (and tounderstand what happens in this book I HIGHLY suggest you do), we've already met Abel. Abel doesn't want a soulmate, doesn't believe in them, and wants to live a nomadic lifestyle. This ends pretty much immediately when he meets Micah. Micah's backstory is tragic, but I love how the author built him up (with the help of Abel of course!). Great scenes, lots of energy, loved the hurt comfort - great read!
Kiki always knocks it out the park, and while I was hoping for Camel's story, I had no idea how much I would love Abel and Micah's story. It's sweet, steamy, and suspenseful, and I just want to live in Kiki's brain because it is completely bonkers how intricate and interesting this huge world she's creating is. Every book in these interconnected series just keeps getting better and I can't wait for the next one!
This is the second book of the Resurrection Road series and features Abel (Mongoose) and Micah. They meet when Micah walks into a bar looking for his friends ex who owes him money. Abel doesn’t believe in mates but that changes quickly. This book holds action, steaminess and mpreg, which is my fave. Looking forward to seeing who the mates of Camel and Badger are.
Abel and Micah are lovely together. Abel provides Micah initially with protection and security and Micah gives Abel someone to care for. It is a treat to get to watch their relationship grow - a relationship that isn't just based on their "fated mate" status. There is also great danger in this book both for Micah personally and for the world as a whole from the demons and their King. The world building just gets richer and richer and I can't wait for the next two volumes in the series.
Another exciting installment to the 'Wolves of Resurrection Road' series.
Grumpy nomadic alpha Abel who feels like he doesn't need a mate, crosses paths with a fearful and gentle soul named Micah. Suddenly, he is incapable of backing away. Recognizing his mate, he becomes protective of him. As they get to know more about one another, Micah discovers there is so much more to him that he realized. Since his parents were killed while he was a child, so much was left for him to discover on his own. A pair of mates so deserving of love and an HEA.
