Alicia Galloway could not imagine that, on the first night of her marriage, her elderly husband would stain the bedsheets with... fake blood as proof of consummation! Although unable to perform his duties or any other activity due to his age, the Laird still wants to have an heir, and Alicia is terrified while thinking what his next plan might be.
While the young lass tries to adapt to her new life in the castle, the Laird introduces to her Conor, a fearsome, thuggish-looking warrior. Alicia dislikes him immediately but she can not resist wondering what the towering man is there for, and the Laird informs her that she is about to travel with Conor to one of his relatives for a secret purpose.
Now, Alicia is on the road facing a new reality, spending time with a towering warrior she barely knows. Surprisingly, Conor starts opening up a bit for the first time in his life, yet he still does not wish to know where he is taking Alicia. But when they arrive at their destination, Conor realizes with great dismay that something has gone horribly wrong…
Fortunately for Alicia, the giant Highlander enthralled by her, now feels ready to go against his initial mission in order to protect her. On the other hand, the lass can not be sure if Conor truly wants to aid her or if this is a trap set by her husband! However, Alicia must either do a horrible deed that will impact her life forever or risk everything hoping that the truth she sees in Conor's does not fade away when the ultimate danger arrives.
Another enjoyable story from Ann Marie Scott. The characters were well described and the storyline was intriguing, including the unexpected twists and turns that occurred. A very old laird marries a young woman, despite him being unable to father a child. He is determined to have a legitimate son. Alicia is caught in a terrible situation, being treated as a servant and following her husband’s demands.
After having read several of Ms. Scott’s stories, this story seems to be a rougher draft of some of her later and better stories. This one seemed to drag a bit and had only very very brief intimacy involved. Story was also a little drug out. I’ll still keep reading this author, as I usually always love her stories, but just didn’t love this one.
what webs we weave when.trying to deceive. Characters not well developed, shallow people who look lack a real purpose. Fears and frets are abundant without justification and not much reasoning. A bit sloppy and lengthy. Disappointed, as i.had hoped I had found a new author to follow.
I loved this storyline and loved the characters. Alicia and Conor were a great choice to pair. I waited for the Laird to die! 😂😂 I can’t wait to read the next book maybe it will be a 2nd story to Stealing His Laird’s Bride. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰💜💜💜💜💜😊😊😊😊😊
Not steamy…couple kisses…one encounter with no details, really clean romance so NOT steamy…weird story line…hell I would have killed the Laird off before being sent off to be bred like a cow. Writing was good, hence the 2 stars
lady Alicia is married off to Laird McGregor who is a very old man and in ill health. He wants a son to have an heir but is too ill to perform so she is sent off to her husband’s cousin to produce an heir.
