Once upon a surfboard. . .

Tamsin has been in love with her best friend, Rigel, for two years. She's watched him date girl after girl, wondering why he never considers her. One frosty morning after winter surfing, she misinterprets his concern over an injury and kisses him. To her horror, he doesn’t feel the same.

In order to save their friendship, they agree to get dates by the Frost Ball on Christmas Eve. But while Rigel falls into another relationship easily, Tamsin decides she must change everything about herself to become more feminine. Her plan works, to an extent. While she does find a date to the ball, she also loses a part of herself.

Tamsin’s transformation unsettles Rigel. Every change she makes takes her further from him. Then, when he’s missing her the most, his dog Dustmop goes missing, too. In his distress, he manages to lose his girlfriend, too. Only, he doesn't seem as bothered about that.

Rigel realizes his love for Tamsin, but is he too late?

Book 2 in the Christmas Magic at Moonrise Cove series. Books 1, 3 & 4 have a different author, I'm not sure what that's about, but seems that would make this a standalone.

Featuring ~ dual 1st person POV, childhood friends, friends to lovers, magic, surfing, no steamage

Rigel and Tamsin have been best friends for 20 years and this is a classic case of not knowing what's right in front of you until it's moved on. I do enjoy my books a little bit more when they're told in dual point of views, which really brings the characters true feelings to light. I liked how Tamsin was genuine with her thoughts and feelings, but I wish she didn't feel like she needed to change her appearance. At times I felt like I was reading about teenagers and not 20 somethings. I was, also, surprised there were magic elements, which was intriguing. I 💙 Dustmop!! What a perfect name for a sheepdog! He sounds so cute!
The book was titled perfectly, as well, and it's a cute, quick, friends to lovers, read.

If the title seems corny, don't miss out on this story. It's GOOD!

I could not stop reading this. Seriously. I lucked out that my schedule allowed for it, all binged in one day. So many thoughts after finishing, but oh I just loved our main squeezes in this book. Jasperson did an awesome job of portraying the humanness of a tomboy skeptically trying on a bit of girly, a man and his dog, a handful of busy but involved parents and the relevant family relationships (oh boy, the sweetest father/daughter moment perfectly timed right within the big moment we were so satisfyingly building to!), gf/bf dynamics, friendship and romance. It just kept getting better and better. Such a relatable heroine, just a genuine gal. A believable quandary and natural development of all feelings and realizations. I just highly enjoyed the treat it was to read this book. Thanks for the hard work I know goes into writing! Minor errors come with self-published works and get this editor's habitual mental red-pen markup but a hall pass in the end, because good writing is good writing, and a good story that makes me laugh out loud and tear up a bit is just what we're all here for! Obviously 5* recommended!

Tamsin and Rigel . . .

This story line is a little bit different than what you might expect because we have a tomboy falling for her best friend and not really being sure how to go about starting a deeper relationship. Tamsin has had “those” feelings for her best friend, Rigel, for two years now, wondering why he never dated her. When she misinterprets something and kisses him, it’s an embarrassing moment because it’s one-sided. So they agree to date others and move on.

It is easy for Rigel to start up something new with someone. (He has considerable practice at that.) But Tamsin isn’t sure how to secure a date with someone. She figures changing herself from tomboy to someone more feminine is a good plan. The change in her catches Rigel’s attention as she moves further away from him. Is he losing her? Could it be more than friendship he feels is going away? How far will he go to keep her? And is he making his move too late?

This story would probably fit better with teen characters, but it was cute and the dog was a great addition. Love is magical, so grab your copy and see if these two friends can get their feelings aligned enough for a new beginning.

This is exactly the book I was in the mood to read when I picked it up. It's kind of like a Hallmark Christmas movie in a book, only less sickly sweet and more focused on the actual story and relationships than the Christmas atmosphere. Jingle All the Wave IS Christmas-y and fun, but what really drew me in is the believable progression of Tamsin and Rigel's relationship from best friends to more. The conflict was just right, the romantic tension was so swoony, and I loved the little touches of magic. I've read a couple other Moonrise Cove books and I absolutely adore the setting - an island off the Oregon coast where inhabitants are born with various magic abilities. Also, this a great book for dog lovers. Rigel's relationship with his dog Dustmop (aided by Rigel's magic ability to communicate with Dustmop) is the sweetest thing. All in all, a perfect holiday read for fans of romance and magic realism. I loved it!

She kissed him, and now they're struggling to maintain their best friend status. As they try to move on, Rigel begins dating Candace, his co-worker, and Tamsin starts seeing Aiden. Candace never seemed right for Rigel, like she was just a placeholder. And Aiden... there's something creepy about him. Tamsin is who she is - a bit ot a tomboy, not concerned with fashion or style. Absolutely love Rigel's dog, Dustmop. The story moves right along, lol-funny much of the time, although I thought that Tamsin and Rigel would never get their act together. Still on my Christmas book kick: This one didn't have as much magic as the other Moonrise Cove books I've read. It was more of a classic tom-boy who changes and realizes that just being yourself is better type story.
