How many times had reformed car thief Peter Bauer promised himself that? He’d thought he’d put it all behind him. But when a past mistake threatens to destroy the hard-won life he’s built with widowed mechanic Nikos Petrakis, what other choice does Peter have?
With shifting alliances and danger pressing in on all sides from LA’s criminal element, Peter and Nik will need their wits, skills, and more than a little good luck to find their way to their happily-ever-after in this heart-pounding, pedal-to-the-floor conclusion of the Hot Wire series.
Breakdown is the final book in Kat Cassidy’s Hot Wire romance series and contains themes of crime, suspense, family drama, hurt/comfort, dark humor, addiction, and abuse. It takes place 6 months after the events of Backstreets and is not intended to be read as a standalone. Rated M for mature.
Kat Cassidy is a romance novelist. She’s a dreamer, a schemer and, above all else, a believer in true love. She lives in Canada with her husband, her kids, and her lovable mutt, and she likes loud guitars and strong IPAs.
I had forgotten how heavy this series was but as soon as I started everything came back to me. I thought it was a sweet and very satisfying ending for Peter and Nik's story🥰
I had forgotten how much I really enjoyed this series. In this final book, the trial for Stravos Giannopoulos for the murder of Nik's wife and brother-in-law. It was brutal seeing him retell that night. On top of that, Olive, Peter's sister, has asked him (insert told him) to pull off one more job by stealing Volkov's vehicle, though she doesn't tell him the full reason why. She took over the criminal side when their father was sent to jail. Also, someone pops up that I didn't think we would ever see as they walked away a long time ago. So much happened in this last book & it was a wild ride. I am glad that things are finalized and our boys have gotten their hard won HEA. Now they can be a happy family with Mia. I am saddened that this story is now over.

Breakdown is the third book in the Hot Wire series and is the conclusion of the trilogy. It is not meant to be read as a standalone and this review will naturally reveal spoilers for the series.
What an incredible, anxiety-inducing end to the Hot Wire series!
Cassidy is an amazingly articulate writer, conveying a plethora of emotions of the characters and in her readers.
The Bauer family is dysfunctional with a capital D, and I can't get enough of their chaotic drama. With twists and turns at every page flip, Peter and Co. kept me on my toes and my mouth agape. A crazy number of surprising things were revealed about many of the characters. My head is still reeling from the explosive conclusion.
From the start to finish this book captured me and I couldn’t wait to read this one which the final in the trilogy, I thought that the first two books were fantastic!
It was very well written with characters that you could really feel for
It was a 5 star read for me, very highly recommended!!
