James Falcon and Wolfe Locke wrote a fun and wholesome family friendly slice of life adventure. You never know what you are going to get these days in the LitRPG/Gamelit community, but this one is strictly G. The story is fun and well written, the characters are enjoyable to read and interact well with eachother. This truly is a slice of life story and I absolutely loved it! Audio Version: Hayley Peterson was the right choice to narrate this wholesome slice of life adventure. She does an excellent job with the characters and overall narration.
Lots of continuity errors, quite a few things that don't add up (like, how do you only taste-test recipes after knowing them for a month and serving them in your café for two days, when you've also already been told that the café failed with them once before?), a caricature of a villain and a lot of deus ex machina. Plus a writing style that always seems a little ... off, like the novel has rather been written by a school child and not grown men.
But the story HAS potential. The idea is interesting and I would love to see more of the world - maybe in a Lady Trent-style-documentary?
This book was an enjoyable experience, dragons, likeable characters, a good antagonist to hate. All the makings for a good series. Lots of questions left, but not in an annoying way. All in all, a fun read
