ONYX A crash and a coma has grounded me. Without flight, I’m a pilot without wings. I refuse to give up, give in. I need to be back in the air with nothing but gravity threatening me. For now, I’m recovering at the beach, biding my time. The last thing I need is a distraction to deter me from my goals—even if she’s a mirror image of the woman who stole and shattered my heart.
BLANCA Answers, that’s all I’m after. My sister’s gone, and I’m hellbent on uncovering the truth. This guy—so damn sexy and rugged that it’s no wonder my twin fell for him—has the knowledge I want. I’ll stop at nothing to know what happened. Even if it means getting closer than I know I should. It won’t be easy though—ONYX is one cold and hardened stone.
While each book in the K19 Security Solutions series is a standalone with its own HEA, they may be more enjoyable read in order.

Onyx is book 10 in the K19Security Solutions and what a way to end this series and set the stage for another new series!
Onyx has appeared in the prior books and we know he was shot and almost died but he is in the process of healing and is determined to get back in the pilot seat again. What he doesn’t expect is a woman to show up and bring his past back.
Secrets, twists, turns, old friends, suspense, mystery, action, facing his demons and hopefully finding their HEA!
Montano aka Onyx, a Special Ops with the K19 Security Solutions has just learned he can no longer pilot for the Ops do to the injuries he suffered from the deliberate plane crash caused by his fellow team member Sofia the woman he thought he loved and vice versa but was the woman that looked him straight in the eyes and shot him at point blank range and caused the crash. He’s at his family home having Thanksgiving when a woman shows up to see him. Blanca, Sofia’s sister, which sets him back, he had no idea Sofia had a sister much less an identical twin and she’s needing to know what happened to here sister. Most of the information is classified so he can’t tell her much. They part ways. Onyx can’t seem to get Blanca out of his head its just something he can’t figure out why. Then the group finds out Blanca is in serious danger but they don’t know over what and from what group. Onyx is placed in charge of a new chapter linking off being set up from the Special Ops. The K19 Shadow Ops. Him and his personally hand picked group are now in charge of Blanca’s safety and help her find what ever her sister has left for her that will clear things up such as information on the group she’s been working for. It doesn’t take long for Onyx and Blanca to figure out and fall for each other even though they both know its wrong Onyx first of all he is on assignment. Blanca she can only wonder is he truly thinking of her with his kisses and etc. or her dead twin? There are so many emotions, tension, danger, twists and turns, suspense and as always action packed completely throughout keeping you on the edge of your chair waiting to see what’s next. I highly recommend this book. I will share with you as with all Ms. Slade’s books you are not going to want to set it down until you find out The Who, What’s, Where’s and When’s. I am looking forward to the next book in this series. These stories keep you entertained, connected with the situation at hand, you feel as if you are a part of it all, very smooth. Characters are very believable and likable. Anyway you will want to add to your reading library to read and reread. I received an Advance Reader's Copy and am voluntarily leaving my honest thoughts and opinions.
It's Thanksgiving a year since Onyx was shot and the plane crashed. A month in a coma and rehab for his injuries has been more than a bit hard since he can no longer pilot a plane. He's visiting family now and is about to get quite the surprise.
Blanca Descanso is Sofia's(Corazón) twin sister. Her father has died and left her with a sort of mission. The one thing she wants to know is what happened to her sister and she believes Montano (Onyx) has those answers. She's forgotten it's Thanksgiving since she's lived in Europe for so long and that in itself becomes interesting. As she finally gets the chance to speak with Montano, their interrupted by a phone call. Some came to the winery looking for Blanca, she has no idea who it could be and now everyone's on high alert.
Fortunately where Blanca's headed has an ally in Owen 'Ranger' Messick and they will be able to keep her safe while looking for whatever it is Sofia left her. Unfortunately she makes a stop in Manhattan first, doing some touristy things.
Onyx and Ranger get word that Hatchet is on the circle line boat with her and things immediately change pace. I really loved Blanca's reaction to meeting up with them and also how this part plays out with Onyx.
There is definitely an attraction here, and once they hit the lake and the cabins (called camps), things change in so many respects. Onyx learns she's looking for something Sofia left for her and Ranger and him are sure that's what everyone is after as well. Ranger's brother Jimmy also shows up and there are many twists and turns.
Plenty of fun and romance interspersed with the intrigue and suspense as this story unfolds. You won't be able to put this book down.
I'm so glad Onyx will have his own division of K19, I can't wait for that series to start!
This is book 10 in the K19 Security Solutions series and while it probably could be read as a standalone, I recommend reading these books in order. Especially because this one builds upon events that happened previously to this character. In this one we get Onyx and Blanca's story! Onyx is a pilot for K19 but after the crash and being in a coma, he is grounded and can't fly. He is spending his time at the beach trying to recover, because he wants back in the air more than anything. He doesn't want, or need, a distraction. Not even the twin sister of the woman who shattered his heart and life. Blanca just wants answers. Her sister is gone and no one will give her the truth about what happened. And this guy has the answers she wants and needs to know. And if that means she has to get closer to him, then she will.
I have been wanting this story ever since I read Halo and boy it didn't disappoint!! I always loved the glimpses we saw of Onyx and his character drew me in right from the start. He was betrayed by the woman he thought he loved only to find out she didn't really exist in the way she portrayed. Blanca couldn't be more different than her sister if she tried. And I really liked that fact that although they were twins in form, it was definitely shown that they were NOT twins in nature! There is so much to this story-not only do we find out what truly happened on the plane, we get lots of action, adventure, and a love that surpasses the betrayal from before. I loved it all! And while I am sad that this portion of the series is ending, I love that it introduces us to another part that is beginning!
This story offers a unique twist on the "other twin" trope, as Montano finds himself face-to-face with the identical twin sister of the woman who very nearly killed him. His relationship with Sofia was very complicated, and that's without factoring in her working as a double agent. When Sofia's sister, Blanca, shows up on Montano's doorstep wanting to know what happened to her sister, not only can he not disclose the circumstances surrounding Sofia's death, but it turns out that those circumstances have also put Blanca's life in danger.
I loved how the author developed both Sofia and Blanca as truly different people despite their twinness. Blanca's goodness was a breath of fresh air, especially as we learned more about Montano's history with Sofia. I really appreciated how Montano instantly felt the difference between the two women and realized that their appearance was their only commonality.
The action scenes were terrific, and there's plenty of chemistry between the main characters. I really enjoyed seeing the new K19 branch set up and getting to know the various members of this new venture as they help Montano and Blanca find the missing evidence and stay one step ahead of the danger.
All of these stories are great romantic suspense reads, but this one is my new favorite. As a standalone romance, Montano and Blanca have a terrific HEA, but you will probably want to read Halo and Tackle as well (also standalones), since both those men were on the plane with Onyx when it crashed, thus intricately linking their stories. I highly recommend all the K19 books as well as those of the spin-off series. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book,.
Onyx's Awakening is the perfect segue from K19 Security Solutions Team Two to the newest K19 Shadow Operations - Team One. Montano Yáñez AKA Onyx is the last Team Two member to get his story and in it all the new Shadow Operators are introduced. I eagerly look forward to reading each if their books.
Onyx is walking miracle. Not only did he survive being shot at point‐blank range, he survived the subsequent airplane crash. His body and mind may have healed but the circumstances of the shooting and the shooter have closed off his heart. When Blanca Descanso walks into his life it's like seeing a ghost. How did he not know Sofia had a twin sister? While Blanca may be a carbon copy of her sister in looks she's the complete opposite in personality, demeanor and attitude. Somehow he knows Blanca is the one he was meant to be with. As the new team leader of Shadow Operations their first assignment is protecting Blanca from a perceived threat. While he takes his job seriously it becomes deeply personal for him. The more time they're together the more it seems right. Now if they can just find the valuable item that's keeping the target on Blanca's back, they can move on with their lives and relationship.
While Onyx was on a mission for K19 Security Solutions, he was shot by what he thought was his girlfriend, Sophia, but knew it wouldn’t go any further than that. They were on the mission together. She shot him. It took him a long time to recover. While at his parents house, Blanca goes there looking for him to find out what happened to her twin sister, Sophia. Onyx looked at her and couldn’t believe it. Sophia never talked about her identical twin. He finds out that twins couldn’t have been more different. Onyx gets asked to head up the K19 Shadows Operations, a new branch of K19. He used to be a pilot, but due to his injuries he can no longer fly planes. K19 finds out Blanca is in danger because of her sister, and his mission with his new team is to protect her. Instantaneous combustion for them both on sight. Hunter is a gentleman. He feels he can’t take advantage. As long as the introduction is to this story, it’s only the beginning. This is a great book with deep feelings and considerations, action, suspense, mystery, surprises and love. I absolutely loved it.
Onyx, being my first read from Heather Slade, was a bit of a mixed bag. I think the biggest thing that got in the way of me truly enjoying this the way I wanted to was that there were SO many characters to try and keep straight. I know that had I read the previous books in the series this wouldn't have been as big of an issue but I digress...
I liked Blanca a lot. She was smart and sassy, sexy and sweet. And when her quest for answers landed her on Montano's doorstep, both were stunned silent. Until their hearts started pounding for the connection they felt. Too bad the shared ghost of their past keeps stirring up trouble.
Onyx and Blanca's slow burning romance kept me on edge just waiting for the moment they would give into what their hearts wanted. And when they did, it was so worth the wait. But danger was never far, and when they learned just how close it truly was, chaos ensued.
My heart was pounding and I was reading as fast as my eyeballs would allow to see what the fallout would be. And that ending!! Holy jaw on the floor! I am looking forward to seeing what is in store for the K19 Unit next!
The K19 series is finished (I’m sad) However Heather Slade has saved the day by introducing a new series. This final book is Onyx’s story who will be the leader of the new team which will be K19 Shadow Ops. But this book belongs to Onyx and Blanca. Onyx almost died when Sofia shot him in the chest right before a plane crash. he was lucky to make it out alive but when Blanca appears he gets more than he bargained for. Blanca is Sofia’s twin sister and she wants answers. There is a spark between them that never existed between Onyx and Sofia but they are on a mission and Sofia also stands between them. As usual with this authors books, there is more going on, hidden agents, espionage and bad guys appearing. It will take everything they have to survive the obstacles and come out the other side.
While I’m sad to see K19 go (and was worried at first), the new series looks to be amazing and the author slides us right into it without missing a beat. A five star read all the way with a tight story line, interesting characters, a great love story and enough suspense and mystery to keep you turning the pages. Loved it, ready for the next book!
When a K19 plane crashed Onyx was the pilot, who was shot by a fellow operative and his lover, Corazon. Except for her, all survive, but Onyx, has a long way to go, before he his ready again, as he will never be able to fly again. When he visits his family for Thanksgiving there is a surprise visitor - the twin sister of Corazon, who is very different, although they look the same. Onx' first mission is to protect her against someone who is known as a hitman. With this mission a new team is born - K19 Shadow, with Onyx as their head. Finding his new vocation and protecting the woman he has a lot of feelings for... makes this story a very interesting read, that is difficult to put down. And meeting the twin of Corazon, with her own feelings of guilt and loneliness .... Although it is based in the fold of the K19 stories and the (at least for now) last book in the series, it gives enough information to be read as a stand-alone story, plus it marks the beginning of a new series, I am eager to read. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Onyx is another super sexy hero in this FANTASTIC series with all the alpha tendencies. He's on a mission for K19 when the woman he considered his girlfriend, Sophia shot him, so imagine what he woke up to since it was a very long recovery. He got the surprise of his life when Sophie's identical twin, Blanca, shows up at his parents house wondering what happened to her sister. Onyx had no clue that Sophia even had a twin so you can imagine his shock to say the least. It was great how he could tell them apart, but the part where he could grow closer to her despite her having the same face as the woman who tried to take him out made him perfect in my eyes to be honest. Oh, and Blanca is in danger because of her sister so they have to keep her safe as well. Heather Slade seriously knows how to turn up the heat, have the twists coming in hot, action to keep the heart racing, and a cast who actually makes me laugh a lot so this series is totally my jam & I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
This is Onyx and Blanca’s story and it’s a fast paced, action packed read with surprise elements, danger, suspense, unanswered questions, guilt, passion, forgiveness, healing and hope. When Onyx receives an unexpected visitor on Thanksgiving, he is looking at the ghost of the woman he loved, who tried to kill him and his K19 Security Solutions teammates and friends. Corazón’s betrayal was a hard pill to swallow. Onyx never knew that Corazón/Sofia had an identical twin sister. That’s where the similarities ended, the two women were as different as night and day and Onyx was very attracted to Blanca. Blanca was looking for answers about her sister’s death, a reconnection and closure. but someone is stalking Blanca in hopes she will find what Sofia left behind as an insurance policy due to her betrayal to her country. This also introduces us to a new division of K19 and the team called K19 Shadow that Onyx/Montano will head up. Awesome read from beginning to end.

Heather Slade’s cast of characters featured throughout the K19, Invincibles, Butler Ranch, & MI6 series only get better and Onyx is no exception. While able to be read as a stand-alone, the secret Ops teams that Heather has created have become more like family and feature across her many stories. It was exciting to see where Onyx’s story develops following being in a plane crash and subsequent coma amidst the hurt of betrayal. Like all of Slade’s characters, Onyx has both the toughest exterior while also working through his personal vulnerabilities and has certainly met his match upon meeting the twin sister of the woman he thought he loved and feeling a connection he wants to fight beyond her looking like her twin. As always, there’s never a dull moment in Slade’s tales and I found myself not wanting to put this book down!

This is the 10th book in this awesome series and is Onyx and Blanca’s story. Onyx was a pilot for the K19 when he is grounded due to an accident which left him in a coma and months of recovery ahead of him. Blanca is looking for answers about her twin sister’s death and goes to speak to Onyx hoping to get the answers she is seeking. Onyx was on a mission with Sophie and her having an identical twin was never brought up, but he knows straight away they are totally different people. Onyx is tasked with starting a new team and it does not take long to discover that Blanca is in danger because of her sister and Onyx is determined to protect and keep her safe by any means. This is a well written story which is filled with danger, mystery, suspense, twists, surprises, and love, which all leads to an entertaining and all-consuming addictive page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
The last thing Onxy aka Montano expected was to see Blanca not only as he never knew she existed but that she is also the twin to Sofia the woman who almost caused not only him but his team mates to die. Blanca is after answers about her sister and she thought Montano could help and they both slowly learn someone else is after answers and they are not the kind of people to say please. I loved how Montano and Blanca start to fall for each other although one is more hesitant than the other and seeing Blanca learn things good and bad about her sister was emotional, then we have the danger that you don't know what direction it will come from has you turning the page. There are some good twist, laughs, double crossing, jealousy as well as old friends you are glad to see and new opportunities that get you excited for things to come!!!

intrigue and mystery Montano, aka Onyx, having been in a coma and rehabilitation for several months is surprised to meet Blanca when she turns up seeking information about her dead sister and his ex, Sofia. He had no knowledge that there was a sister, let alone a twin. Blanca had been told by her father before his death that there was something for her, left from Sofia in the family camp - Why? They had not spoken for 12 years leading individual lives and Blanca discovers that he wariness - he does not tell that Sofia shot him with intention to kill, nor that she was a double agent within the security service environment. Danger for both of them and others is lurking....what they looking for could be the same thing but for different reasons Unanswered questions and loose ends.

Montano “Onyx” works Special Ops with K19 Security Solutions. While piloting his plane, Sophia, whom he thought of as his girlfriend, shot him and he wakes up from a coma. In the meantime, he is grounded due to his injuries. When he visits his parents at Thanksgiving, they have a surprise visitor as Sophia’s twin, Blanca, shows up trying to find out what happened to her because no one will tell her anything. Because most of the information is classified, there is little he can tell her.
But when they discover Blanca is in danger, his K19 Shadow Ops team is assigned to protect her. Her sister left something for her and everyone seems to be looking for it. Can he keep her safe? Can they find the information her sister left for her? And what will they do about the fact that they are both falling in love?
This story really sucks you in and does not let go. Onyx is recuperating and told he will never pilot again. He gets to his family for Thanksgiving and a woman shows up who looks just like someone who was on his team and betrayed them. A twin sister stirs up all kinds of trouble, but also gets Onyx back in the game as the new leader of a new group within K19. Love these guys and their history and backstories that come into play. Wild that one of them lives next door to where the twins spent a lot of time. Bad guys want something and Blanca is the target, but the guys are there and Onyx is taking it personally. Loved the storyline with all its action, drama, romance and twists. Can not wait for the new series to start with this group.

This story has lots of twist and turns that will keep you turning the pages, well into the night. There are a few surprises that you don't see coming. Onyx is attracted to his ex-girlfriend's sister. That can only spell disaster. Blanca sees why her sister fell for this man. He's charming and handsome. But definitely off limits.
Onyx was recruited by K19 Security, after his military career ended with a medical discharge. On his last mission, his coworker, turned double agent tried to kill him. Now he's trying to recover at home, when an unexpected guest shows up and wants answers about her sisters death.
Blanca is Sofia's twin sister. She had been living overseas until recently, when her father passed away. Now she wants answers on how her sister died. But will knowing what happened, put her in danger.
All I can say is wow; another great storyline from Heather. I loved the way this story cane together with Onyx feeling still broken from the betrayal and all the months in recovery. Blanca shows up and completely throws Onyx for a loop. Blanca states she was Sophia's twin sister. Sophia worked for K19 and Bkanca is looking for answers to how her sister died. She also feels guilt and remorse for not being close to her twin for years.
Onyx never heard Sophia ever mention that she had a twin..
Although there's an instant connection between them Onyx tries to ignore it. . I'm not going to say more so you'll just have to read it yourself. Trust me; you won't be disappointed and will find a new team in place with lots of new sexy alpha guys.
An ending and a beginning all in one book. The last in the K19 series, but the beginning of the Shadow Operations. Been waiting a long time to finally find out what happened on the plane. I really, really liked the dinner/grace scene early on in the book. It was very nice to read made me smile. Blanca is a very understanding person, and ironic last words to Sophia by both her and Onyx, just like they are two sides to a coin, light and dark. Cool descriptions of Onyx, weirdo, dork, liar, and also what can happen if you allow it, "close the door, but open the window." The more pages I turned, the higher the intensity of the story became, and it ends on the last page with an explosive scenario. Highly recommend.
A Spectacular Suspense Romance . This story is fantastic . ( Montano )Onyx to his team is shocked when Blanca Descanso shows up at his family's home . He had no idea ( Corazon) Sofia Descanso the woman who tried to kill him Evan had a sister and definitely not a Twin . Blanca is searching for answers to her sisters death . Most of the answers are classified . Onyx does not plan to see her again but he soon finds Blanca is in danger because of her sister . Onyx is tasked to keep her safe and while doing so finds she is nothing like her sister . Feelings mix with danger and Onyx and his team will have their work cutout for them . I really enjoyed reading Onyx . It is action packed and Suspenseful . I could not put it down . I highly recommend taking the time to read .
While this is the 10th book in the current series it also sets the start of the K19 Shadows and who is better for this than Onyx. We know that Onyx was devastated and almost killed when he was betrayed by the woman that he loved Sophia after all she shot him leading to the plane crash that put him in a coma Unable to fly he is offered the position to head up K19 new shadow division what he didn't expect was to get a visit from a woman identical to the woman who betrayed him. Blanca is the identical twin sister of Sophia and Onyx new team has the mission to keep her safe after her sisters action put her in danger The only problem is that these two are fighting a deep attraction to one another will it put Onyx in danger yet again or has he finally found the woman for him.
Blanca and Onyx are both very relatable people so I rooted for them to find their way. Of course, this book is not just a romance, but full of suspense, too, and so in order to get to the HEA, they first have to stay alive - which is not easy with a hit man on Blanca's tail and a mysterious legacy from her twin sister to find. I cleared my schedule to read this book and that was a good thing since I didn't get up from my chair until I was done! This story will captivate you and have you turning the pages. It also has gorgeous descriptions of both the wine country as well as the Adirondacks. Makes you want to experience them - minus the bullets, of course.

She looked just like the woman who nearly ended his life, but she was nothing like her. When Montano saw Blanca, he might have thought he was seeing a ghost, but as he got to know her, he came to realize that she was nothing like her sister. Montano, or Onyx, as he was known, nearly died, and the woman who killed him was a double-agent. Now, her sister was seeking answers, and her life and the lives of those around her were in deadly peril. Who turned Blanca’s sister to the other side, and who was left standing in the end?
Blanca and Onyx’s story will keep you turning the pages. I enjoyed it and would recommend it to those who like stories filled with action, mystery, secrets, romance, and suspense.
He has survived more than a few surprises and then she comes knocking on his door
Onyx is the tenth book in the K19 Security Solutions series and is the story of Blanca Descanso and Montano "Onyx" . Even though I have only read the previous book in this series I was not really lost for felt like I missed a ton of inside story details, as this is an interconnected series. This story takes you on a roller-coaster ride of drama, action, adventure, romance and sizzling chemistry. Also thrown in is some betrayal, laughter and more than a few surprises. I enjoyed this story as it is well written, has an very entertaining and engaging story-line and great characters.
I received a copy of this book and am leaving my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
Holy crap, Batman! Heather Slade cranked up the heat with her newest book, Onyx. It is a steamy, high-octane, action packed romantic suspense introducing her newest series, K19 Shadow Operations. Onyx survived a plane crash and betrayal of Sofia, aka Coraźon. Now her twin sister Blanca is searching for answers regarding the death of her twin. Onyx is assigned to protect Blanca while simultaneously conducting a desperate search for information that Coraźon compiled against her handlers. As they race to identify their enemies, will Onyx and Blanca find love or will Sofia's ghost keep them apart? 5 stars!
I fell a little in love with Onxy a few books back in this series. When he was shot by Corazon, I was shocked! A year later, he is recovering nicely when Blanca comes searching for answers about her twin. Blanca is such a great match for Onyx! She is smart, insightful, with a bright happy personality! Onyx can’t help but fall and fall hard. But danger is following her, and they race to keep safe and figure out the mystery of what Corazon left behind. Heart pounding action, well written sexy times! This was the series finale, and ranks as my favorite!

A year after his crash he still is not able to fly and is back home visiting family when she walks in. He thinks he is seeing a ghost. It turns out that the woman who shot him had a twin sister. This is book 10 in the K19 Security Solutions series and it features Blanca Descanso and Montano/Onyx. Blanca is the twin sister to Corazon, the woman that tried to kill Onyx. They are both trying to understand what happened and why.
The story line was fantastic, as always, as were most of the characters. For me personally, the main character’s names and behaviors just didn’t sit right. The way Onyx spoke was a real turn off. It was how he called her sis all the time or called the guys son, regardless of age. It was odd and didn’t fit with the character of Onyx that I had in my head. Still looking forward to the next book in this brilliant series!
