The Hated Billionaire

Rate this book
I Hate My Boss. But He’s So Damn Sexy.
I met Brett Caden when I started at Caden Global, five years ago. My first impression wasn’t good – sexy, but a real jerk. A smooth, conceited jackass. Or so I thought.
I was so excited when I finally made it to a senior exec position, but the one bad thing was I had to see Caden every other day. I thought that was a hardship, until one night when I had to work late. The last person I would have expected help from was Caden.
But, weirdly enough, he did help me. I also didn’t expect myself to end up in his arms, but that happened too.
Now I just don’t know how I am going to hide all my secrets from him.
The Hated Billionaire is a standalone Billionaire Romance with a HEA and NO cheating!

Childish.

I found the writing incredibly childish. I won't be reading anymore Erica Frost, it was a grind to finish this one.

Hardly "Enemies" . . .

Christina had met Brett Caden when she started working at Caden Global five years ago, and her first impression wasn’t good – although we never actually find out why. She was delighted when she finally reached a senior exec position, but still after five years felt that the one bad thing was having to see Caden more often! Their feelings remained pretty much the same until one night, after hours, he surprised her by offering help when she worked late. Ending up in his arms, they found that they didn’t feel that same hostility any more. And could those trust issues they had have been swept away as well?

I thought that this was a very light handling of a romance. I kept looking for the ways Caden was making her impression of him so negative. Why would she continue to work there for that long and be so unhappy? She held that impression for five years – what was she so annoyed about? One offer to help earned him a complete turnaround and some other goodies. I didn’t think much of the characters, so it’s difficult to cheer them on. This was not one of my favorites.

Whoa!! Ok, let me just jump right to the good stuff. This book was one that tapped into my emotions. Christina carried the burden of her past around like an anchor and found powerful relief when she was finally able to share her beginning with the man she thought she hated and who she thought hated her!! Turns out the old school games children play on playgrounds was into play here!! Men!! Brett showed up and showed out when it mattered and he finally had an opportunity with his brother to lay some of their demons to rest. I love it when a family can reconcile and her friend Neela was someone I would like to hang out with. Christina's dad...and I use that term VERY lightly...was a total turd ball and I wish that she could have finally had her say with him to totally wash the bad juju away and take her power from that as well!! Doesn't matter because she got the prize in the end...the love a good man and the attitude that she deserves him and everything good!!

Acknowledging The Inevitable -
Christina had a dysfunctional upbringing and did everything in her power to escape the horrors of her childhood. However, it appears her past was still itching to invade her new life. Brett was seen as the grouchy and emotionally constipated boss by his employees. However, when he stepped up to console Christina when she was emotional, her previous perception of him changed.

This story was quite emotionally challenging for me as Christina detailed what she endured as a child. In addition, to think of what her father did to her as an adult is nothing short of atrocious. Just sit back and relax with a bottle of wine and tissues, then watch Brett and Christina’s love story unfold, as you turn the pages. This is one story that once you start reading, you won’t want to stop until you get to the end.

The addition starts with the book cover….yeah…yeah…yeah don’t judge a book by its cover they say ….well we all do it and this one here it is the scratch to your itch or better yet the filling to your oreos! Speaking of filling…..wait, that’s for later. Within the first chapters you get the panoramic view of whom you’re dealing with! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!! Pretty much employee meets boss, he is sexy as all get out billionaire but holds jerk of the year award. However, that doesn’t stop Christina from thinking of him all the time, no matter how much he is a jerk or so she thought. Until he proves her different in the course of one night when he went out of his way to help her but is there an ulterior motive to his help, will they take the time to get to know one another and will it all end with happiness?

Christina has worked hard to become a senior executive at Caden Global. Although she finds her boss Brett Caden sexy but a real jerk. Having had a less than perfect childhood Christina is determined to put that life behind her. However, there are elements of her past trauma that bleeds into her life, Brett finding her crying in her office one evening as she is scared and unsure of the noises she can hear.

As the two of them spend more time together their attraction grown between them. Christina letting go of her first impression of him. But as her past catches up with her and leaves her in danger, will Brett be able to work out what has happened and be able to save her?

An enemies to lovers story of sorts with trigger warnings for childhood abuse.

This story was something different, it didn’t sweep me off my feet..
I didn’t feel the connection between the main characters, Christina thinks he (Brett the CEO) is awful and arrogant, I didn’t found a reason for that. She made some drama where there wasn’t any.
Actually I was a bit annoyed with her.
Brett on the other hand was caring but a bit of a pushover as her boss.
The love scenes were sweet.
But don’t let my opinion withhold you of reading this story.

Seemed like a good idea
The story begins with a great hatred / attraction that seemed interesting, but in the end, I never really understood why, other than that the main characters, both of them, think the other hated himl ou her.
I also struggled with the indirect style which made me feel like it was slowing the action down (He says, they go, she thinks.....), plus the characters often talk to themselves.

Christina is from the wrong side of the tracks and that's not the biggest one, she thought Brett hated her but he is shy and attracted to her his biggest worry is she might feel pressured because he is the CEO

I liked that there were characters that varied and had different backgrounds but they fit together. I would recommend this book for mature readers that enjoy reading stories that are funny, steamy, suspenseful, and romantic.

It just did not appeal to me

I found this book to be a very hard read. Some phrases were a bit weird. The sex in it were not passionate enough. It almost seemed like this was a book written by a beginner romance writer who really has not experienced real love. I was hoping to like this book it but it was a struggle to finish it. If I were to guess I would say this was written by a junior high person.

Her boss is hot and sexy, but she thinks he’s a real jerk. After hours one night, she got help from the last person she ever expected. One thing led to another.... The characters in this romance have great chemistry. Would definitely read more from this author.

There was no enemies to lovers aspect in this at all...he was just a puppy boyfriend the entire time. If there was any animosity between them, it lasted for maybe 5 pages and was very very mild.
I really didn't like the ending. It was unrealistic and so sudden...and it's not even in his character to rush into "battle" like that. It also felt like there were plot holes.
