Fake Dating My Rockstar Roommate

Rate this book
What do you do when your fantasy man turns out to be a total jerk? Well, if you're as unlucky as Gina, you wind up living with the dope.

Gina Parker might be sitting front and center in the VIP box for Aston Rogue's sold-out concert, but she's not exactly living her best life. It's bad enough her boyfriend stood her up, but now she finds out he's cheating on her? Surely this night can't get any worse. Oh wait, it can. Because Aston Rogue spots her in the crowd, sees her crying, and he sings to her. To her. Little Gina Parker, your average, small-town girl next door. Or, according to online gossip the next day, America’s sweetheart—and the woman who’s finally managed to tame the devilishly handsome, world famous rockstar.

Turns out Aston needs a PR miracle and he’s decided she’s the perfect marketing ploy. This should be a fangirl's dream come true. Instead it’s a nightmare. Because Aston Rogue? He’s not at all the man he pretends to be. It’s all an act. So who is the real Aston Rogue? Better question, why do his kisses make her swoon when she knows very well it's all just pretend. It is just make believe...isn't it?

DNF at like 20% sorry. I didn't realise they were so old? Like why is he doing this whole "I'm a sweetheart that can get out of everything" at 40 YEARS OLD?! I literally just couldn't get past it. And them pretending to date with a timeline that the ENTIRE TOWN knows crosses over with her ex? How did they all just go yep that's fine. I just couldn't. Ever.

Another winning YA book by Maggie Dallen. This one involves a music-centered rockstar making a move to save his 20-year career by agreeing to spend three or four weeks with the fan-girl who though rejected by her latest boyfriend has been touted on the world wide web as his girlfriend! Fun reading about strangers isolating together in a small house in small-town Wyoming as they see the strengths and weaknesses of one another and realize they love each other. With Aston's encouragement, Gina buys the Java Lava coffee shop she so loved from Billy, her ex. And Aston finds himself able to compose love ballads to his new muse instead of his old rock-n-roll songs. The high point came at the fundraiser for the library where he sang his new love ballads for his new and true love! This pleases his record producers and tour sponsors regenerating his career. In the end, the couple learns to speak their real truth and compromise to make their dreams come true, always putting their relationship first.

Gina and Aston!!

Gina is a sweet goody two shoes, your typical girl next door in a small town type of girl.
Aston is a rockstar musician, and celebrity, who has lost his emotional side.

The story is based on what happens when Aston sings a love song to Gina at the concert and his fans link them together. Aston needs this fake dating ruse to go on to improve his PR image.

Now, bam they are fake dating and living together.

Things I liked about this book:
1. Gina and Aston both are lovable characters.
2. Aston unknowingly falls for Gina (which is quite believable for me).
3. Quick read

Things I wished would have been a bit different in the book:
1. Would have loved to see Gina and Aston go out in public and play the fake couple part.
2. Only if they would have a bit more dialogue between them.
3. Feels like the author did not take much advantage of the closed-door romcom she could have created here.

Loved the epilogue !!
Overall, I have a soft spot for fake dating troupes, hence I got through this book and liked most parts.

When You're Dating A Celebrity - And Don't Know You Are. This was one of the more entertaining "fake dating" type romances that spun the general idea on its head and runs with the idea of "what if a PR team claimed their client was dating someone - who had no idea the photo they are spinning had even been taken?". From there, we get a realistic-ish look into the world of celebrity in the modern era, where *everyone* has a phone and even minor things most people wouldn't even think twice about can go viral just because someone "famous" is doing it. Another fun entry into this series that works as a standalone, but one where the characters from previous books do show up. Very much recommended.

Loved this clean rockstar romance

I really liked the storyline and characters. I thought Gina was going to be a Polyanna at first, I'm glad that wasn't the case. She is good, honest and sweet, but also has a mind of her own and won't let Aston get away with anything. He helps her find her backbone, she helps him find himself. There is chemistry, sweetness and love. I wish it had been fleshed out a little more. Low angst.
Standalone with HEA told from dual POV. No cliffhanger.

2.25 stars and it really comes of to two little things that I don’t even know if I will bother someone else.

I don’t like when the faking couple admit that they have been faking it and I also don’t love kick engagements when they don’t knew each other before the said fake date, and this proposal was also kind of cheesy.

Thinking it through, I also think that it could have been more tense (you can have clean romance and have a lot of tension) and the protagonist is a bit bland, her family problems could have been expanded upon. I will read the other books in the series anyway.

I loved the premise of this book, and the first chapter drew me right in. I had already "met" Gina in the previous books in the series, and I had been rooting for her to find her HEA even before I started reading this story. :)
I'll be honest and admit that there were times over the course of the story that I gave Aston some serious side-eye, and I wasn't quite sure if he deserved Gina, after all. But in the end, it all worked out perfectly for these two. (I mean, this *is* a Maggie Dallen book - how could it not?)

Gina thought nothing could get worse in life then finding out that her boyfriend/boss has been cheating on her! Unfortunately for her, the worst is yet to come! When rock star Aston Rogue see Gina crying at his concert, he decides to sing her a song. Unbeknownst to both of them, their "relationship" is about to go viral! A relationship that neither one of them wants, but both must endure to save face! Great read!

Too Quick

I liked this, I did. I liked the characters but I didn't spend enough time with any of them to really get to know them. They didn't spend enough time with each other to really fall in love. A lot of this book is each of the characters being inside their heads rather than interacting with each other or anyone else. It's a good story and premise but there's just not enough to it.

it was alright

I actually stopped reading at 93% just because I lost interest. The entire book was kind of boring. Not all that much happened and they made a lot of connection off-book which really threw me. All of a sudden they were really close and the time jumps were a little weird.

Sweet Read

It was a delight to read Gina's story and see her finally get away from the horrible Billy and get her happily ever after.

I do wish that the development of Gina and Aston's relationship had been developed more....more conversations and easy banter would have made the quick pace feel more developed.

It was good but it definitely could've been at least 200 more pages, like there wasn't enough build up and then the fight was just over. I do like the 5 months later chapter though. Wish more authors did that.

I loved this!! Such a beautiful story about two hurting people finding love together as they navigated a fake (at first 😜) relationship! 😍😍😍 Aston was a dream and Gina was so relatable to me. And it’s completely clean too!

Adorable

It was a very cute, instalove, rockstar romance. It’s set over a month time frame. They’re forced to pretend to be together but then actually fall in love. I enjoyed it.

Kisses only. This is a cute book. I liked that the MCs spent a lot of time together so that their love story was more believable although it still was a lot of tell not show.
