Unabridged Audiobook

From Best Selling Author Ali Parker comes a billionaire alpha romance series that is sure to leave you fanning yourself and begging for more ...

His Wants. His Needs. His Demands. Your Pleasure. You're Welcome.

Bethany had one more year of school left, and once again, poverty strikes hard. The only option would be to encourage her mother to marry her new boyfriend Kent, a billionaire tycoon in the world of accounting.

Mom is more than happy to move the wedding date up, and Bethany's soon-to-be father is willing to pay for her schooling - on one condition.

She works for his firm as an intern throughout the next year.

She agrees without hesitation, but little does she know that Kent's oldest son, Damon, is the CFO. Dark features and a stare that would melt panties, he's everything one might imagine of a billionaire's spoiled alpha son, her new boss.

Her billionaire boss plays lots of games and though she hates herself for it, Bethany is more than yearning for the chance to fulfill his needs.

This is book 1 of a long-running series. A cliffhanger is highly possible.

+18 for explicit sexual content, language and possible violence.

DNF the audiobook after 2 hours of listening.

I love Joe Arden and always thought the man could read a phonebook and I would like it.
Guess I was wrong. 🤷🏻‍♀️

So, when I enjoyed the narrator, something must be wrong with the book, and I think there is. Actually, several wrongs.
First, I absolutely disliked the heroine. She’s judgemental and entitled and plain nasty. A stupid young girl who only seemed to care about herself and would sell her mother to get what she wants😖.
Second, it’s so much telling and so little action or emotion it’s purely boring.

Maybe this story will get hot, but I’m not going to wait for that to happen. There are too many great audiobooks out there, whether read by the amazing Joe Arden or not 😉.

2.5⭐️ I’m finding that the more I listen to free books on hoopla, the more average to less than average they really are. It gets my book count high but I think I need to be more picky.
Beth and Damon have instant chemistry upon meeting each other. The only thing is that they are about to become step siblings. This follows Beth along as she makes her way through college, a new intern position under Damon and her new family life.
There’s a bunch of added drama that came out of no where -minor spoiler- with Beth’s roommate and friend. Like attempted murder wtf?! We don’t even know what happens there bc this is book 1/3. Maybe they’ll mention it later.
I found it really awkward about the whole Beth dropping the L bomb after only a week… and Damon at almost 2 weeks.
The book was long and drug out even though for the most part it was interesting. They don’t even get to the parents wedding in this book, bc this whole book revolves are only a 2 week span!
Even though this book was spicy 🌶🌶🌶 I won’t be reading the next 2 books.

**Warning: taboo relationship**

Worth the read?: YES
Reread?: NO

Read if you like:
-step brother MMC
-accountant intern FMC
-taboo relationship
-secret relationship

Bethany and Damon are enough to drive me to drink. I can’t quite decide whether to take the pair and try to shake some sense into them or cuddle them tight and tell them that everything will be alright. Whether they mean to cause it or not, they create so much drama together. (My reality-TV loving heart glories in this just a bit.) And there’s so much else going on around them with their families, friends, and co-workers. They’re in an okay place for now, but I know that won’t last for long with this contentious pair. Bring on the next book!

Couldn’t finish. The FMC was dry and boring, and kind of rude? Using a more polite word when referring to someone as fat doesn’t make it nicer when said “portly” fellow reminds you that you wanna hit the gym or thinking a different bigger guy is goofy looking. No other features about the man are mentioned that make him goofy, but just his weight. (He is later seen acting silly, but FMC calls him goofy before ever meeting him, simply from a picture.)

MMC answers a phone call while basically giving an interview to the FMC, tells the woman on the other end to not wear panties during their date and makes a comment to FMC about putting her in “different positions that satisfies them both” but somehow the FMC thinks he’s professional.

Just, unbelievable and unlikeable story.

Imagine not being attracted to someone because that person, "likes art." LOLOLOLOLOL. Art is everywhere, please be more specific and provide the reason that the like of a specific art form would turn someone off.

I haven't come across a book in a while where the FL, Bethany, is just The Worst. Immature, self-absorbed, and judgmental. The ML, Damien, is not as bad and I'm assuming we see a more dominant side in the following books, but I'm not going to read them so I'll pretend that is true.

Book reads as if the writer was "inspired" by 50 Shades. Definitely not as cringy, but missed the mark for me.

I personally didn’t like it. Some of the writing didn’t quite make sense. It felt forced, Like her mom had to marry her future step dad to ask him for money. Meh

4 star review of Billionaire Alpha 1 (Billionaire Alpha #1) by Ali Parker
When struggling student Bethany falls on hard times, the only way that she can see her way to be able to complete her last year of school is to convince her mother to marry her billionaire boyfriend Kent.
Kent is more than happy to comply on the proviso that Bethany spends the year working as an intern for his company to offset the cost of her schooling.
However, what Bethany doesn’t count on is her is her soon to be step brother Damon who is the CFO of his father’s company. Damon is one tough, sexy as sin, dominant alpha male and one who knows what and who he wants and goes after it regardless of the consequences. Bethany soon finds herself involved in the games that Damon likes to play.
This was a quick and hot read and one I enjoyed. Stay tuned as no doubt Ali Parker has more in store for this couple before they get to their HEA.
Another cliff hanger but honestly that is what I have come to expect from Ali Parker.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review and I look forward to seeing where Ms. Parker takes us next.

I couldn't get past the first couple pages. The whole "poor girl meets billionaire" storyline is so old, but this book goes beyond that.

Before I could even reach any character development, Bethany is just too awful. A girl who complains that she doesn't have money for food on one page, and makes a mental note to go to the gym after observing the out-of-shape people around her on the next. She won't take money from her mother's rich fiancé while they aren't legally family, so she pushes her mother to marry the man, assuming that he will help her pay for her school.

I'm a huge fan of Ali Parker and I've read many of her books, but this one doesn't do it for me!

I enjoyed the romance aspect closer to the end of the story, but getting there took forever.

This book had a lot of story and exposition, but the tension between the two characters wasn't severe enough to balance it out; instead, the two MCs just took way too long to do anything and I became tired of waiting.

Also, the two characters' inability to see through an obvious lie (i.e., ) just made me so irate.

That's not to say the writing itself was bad, it wasn't. And obviously Joe Arden slayed the narration.

Another unresolved story ending on a cliff hangar. Why do ebook authors do this? I am more likely to buy another in the series if I loved the book, not if it left me unsatisfied. Resolve the conflicts and then create another.
I was just beginning to enjoy it by the end. The two main characters were so needy that I almost gave up partway through.

Ew!!! I hated this so much I didn’t make it past chapter 5. Bethany sucks!!! And I can’t stand when an author makes a persons skin color or weight the only trait or the first thing we know about a character. For only making it to 5 chapters it happened enough for me to feel uncomfortable and annoyed!!

DNF instead of coming as hot, everything the mmc does seems like sexual harassment and not sexy at all and she's not so good herself after forcing her mom to marry a billionaire for her sake....

DNF- this book feels like it was written by an Incel. She body shames her roommate and professor and all but admits to an eating disorder in the first couple chapters. Gross

👩🏾‍💻

Why was their “relationship” rushed? 2 days after meeting her soon-to-be stepbrother she is claiming to be in love with him?? From day one Damon saw his prey, EASY prey, no challenge at all because by day 2 she was in love and they haven't even had sex yet just groping and heavy breathing.

Bethany, is a PoS! She is childish, insecure, ridiculously obsessed with Damon. To me she is just a desperate, unstable, weak woman. She speaks all this faux bravado and dirty sex talk but then she is either crying “broken hearted” when he treats her like trash or playing stupid high school games, and begging him to fuck her. I despise how she uses Phillip.

The fact that Damon is into her stupidity and childish games is absolutely unbelievable. There is nothing witty or cute about Bethany at all. I don't get why is he so into her, she is the worse.

Damon is a solid bully/alpha, Matthew is charming, her Mother seems cool, knows Bethany is obsessed with Damon but accepts Bethany’s lie & just girls back to being hyper-focused on marrying Kent, Kent (Damon & Matt’s father) seems endearing.

Bethany is a convenient thirsty pet for his ego, no more no less. Matthew & Phillip entertaining her declarations of love pissed me off! I wish they told her to get therapy🤷🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️ I was hoping a more formidable match for Damon was going the glide on to the scene to rid us of that insufferable Bethany😝

I think the only reason he tolerates her is that she is such an obedient pet. She is an obnoxious, privilege, mentally weak, pathetic excuse for a woman. Not sure why she was written so sickening but I have no interest in suffering through any more books with her in it.

I must say I grinned why Damon cussed her out and tossed her out of his office, I knew it would be short-lived when she got back to her desk with flowers waiting. Now she is back begging for his forgiveness and he is back opening his bed for her to jump into like a good pet.

3 stars for the other characters being interesting enough that helped me ignore that lowly twat called Bethany. 😝

The narrator has a great voice and manages all the different characters effortlessly. 🥰

I didn’t like this trilogy AT ALL, but the first book was the best in the bunch. I was trying to find a book included in my audible subscription and this was, which is the only reason I listened to it.

The list after one another was enjoyable, and wondering how long the characters would hold out…but other than that, I found the smut to be sub par, and the character development weak. I don’t like when I start rolling my eyes at characters, and that’s all I was doing repeatedly. Beth is annoying, predictable and repetitive. Damon is trying to be dominant, but comes across as equally annoying. While he’s not as immature as Beth, the entire story was just too unbelievable. I’m surprised to say that, considering I read wildly unbelievable fiction all the time, but something about the writing just leaves you waiting for more.

2.5 stars rounded up to 3
I don't know about this book. I wanted to like it because the plot had promise, but the characters were lackluster and annoying. The FMC was so manipulative and the MMC was arrogant and inconsistent, sometimes cruel. Also, everything moves WAY too fast.
I DID like how the book wrapped up and felt thoroughly conclusive. There are plenty of plot lines left open, but not in a cliff hanger way.
Everyone is ranting and raving about the narrator, and he just didn't do it for me. Maybe it was the material, but if I had to hear him say "baby" or "hush woman" one more time, in the tone he used, I'd lose my mind. I guess it was a combination of the material he was given and his performance. He wasn't terrible, just not my favorite.
I'm not sure if I'd recommend this book, unless someone was looking for a step-sibling taboo trope.

WHOOF. I wish I DNF’d this. I should’ve. I thought since it was the start of the series that there would be some kick off to a deeper plot. Unfortunately there wasn’t. I have respect for authors because writing a book cannot be easy, which is why I gave it 2 stars.

The issues I had with this booked seemed soooo simple to change/fix/avoid. “I love him. I want to be his. I’m in love with him.” AFTER ONE WEEK?! Really?? There needed to be more character development, more relationship building, hell, more INTERACTIONS between the two of them for me to at ALL believe she could love him so quickly. It was annoying and the “push/pull” made me roll my eyes so many times. The plot itself lacked…deeply lacked…

Bethany Miller has grown up in poverty and put herself through college with grants and work. She doesn't have the enough grants to cover her masters and asks her mother to marry the very rich Kent, so she can ask to borrow money to pay for school. Her mother accepts Kent's proposal and has Bethany move to his home for a few weeks until the wedding. Kent gives her a paid intern position at his firm, where she meets her soon to be stepbrother Damon. They fall instantly in lust even with all Damon's issues of pulling her close and pushing her away. Will Damon ever just love her, or is it a one way street with heartbreak at the end?

2.75 - okay and I liked it. I listened to it as background, so I can’t really give an full and in-detailed opinion on it, but I would say that if it wasn’t an audiobook I probably would have lost interest - also probably wouldn’t have even read it because it being free on audible is the only reason I came across it. But it’s not a book that really stands out for me; the main characters were kind of meh (in the sense that I didn’t really connect with or care for them all that much) and the plot wasn’t really anything special either. I did like it though, because I’ve already started listening to the next one.
