My name is Jake. At least, I think it is. That’s what the note in my pocket said when I woke up in this jungle, but it said a bit more than that. It gave me two assignments: Survive the monsters and breed with as many women as possible. The future of the human race depends on you.
So… There's a lot I’m pretty confused about.
The beautiful women I’ve found in this jungle are just as lost, and they had their own note that told them to breed with the strongest man they could find. They seem to trust me enough to team up in figuring out what the hell is going on, but we’re finding more alarming mysteries everywhere we explore in this jungle.
Why are we so strong? Why are we trapped here with these crazy monsters?
And why are these gorgeous women as compelled to breed with me as I am with them?
This story is different from his usual it has a lot more dialogue and a lot more world building and also relationships are built more upon mutual respect and detail. There is friendship develops as well as some romance and a little bit of sexy times but mostly world building and relationship building. The story starts out interesting and as time progresses you get more and more better idea of what is going on. I like how the story keeps you guessing just when you think you have it figured out a new detail emerges and changes the story. For those of you who like a good story as well as well built relationships and well built world views then this story is good for an interesting read.
I struggled with this book. The main character feels so generic. Some of the female characters are kinda unlikeable (Devona). And there isn't really any chemistry between them, it's just "oh look here's a male. I don't like him but in five minutes I'll change my mind because....plot" Also, the author's descriptions of the female characters are very boring. In my mind's eye they look almost identical with hair color being the defining difference. It smacks of the old youtube video "so there's this new anime".
It's not BAD, it just needs further expansion and revision. Let the spice serve the story better than it currently is.
I am giving this one a 3.5. I really like survival stories and base building so this one starts out strong for me. The ending was a little disappointing though.
I think overall the premise is dubious and keeping it a mystery doesn't help. Some how I don't think there will be a pay off from this mystery as I think it was just a plot device to get the team together.
I worry that I have gotten to the end of the good ideas and now the author is just getting desperate for ideas to put their characters in.
I will start by saying this is probably Logan Jacobs best nook to date. Lots of twists and turns and just when you think you know what is happening next...BAM another twist. Love how dark this book is and cannot wait for book 2 and where this series goes next.
If you game for a story with a deep plot turn away for this novel throw you into a survival story where a man wakes to find himself with a group of women in tropical forest, but has the story progress we learn of monsters living there hunting them and a strange note telling the women to breed with a strong man.
The plot elements to give the story the mystery vibes at times felt to given for scenes that they felt artificial an to give the chacthers there directions. This shown in the chacthers lack of strong emotional expression of being forced into this situation expect for the times they gave into there lust that just felt corny I can’t belief they’d actually do in the dangerous area with monsters that could’ve attacked them during there carnal fun.
I really enjoyed this book, it’s definitely different in my opinion from a lot of his previous works but it reminds be of a certain few I greatly enjoyed and really hope this series continues
It was a good opening book for a series. My only complaint was that there is a lot of useless repetitive back and forth between the characters, almost as if a word count was needed to be reached.
I really enjoyed this book, I'm very curious what's going to happen next but also want to fill in the blanks. There's so many unanswered questions and I can't wait for the next book.
Good questions, no good answers. And now a note giving a name and a purpose. So find, survive, and breed, sounds simple enough. So enter the jungle and see what Jakey and his women do to fulfill the instructions on their notes.
This is really different from Logan Jacobs’ other books. The pacing is faster and you are in the dark as much as the MC. I really like the mystery and can’t wait to see it unfold.
Loved this book. I stayed glued until the end. I liked how everyone clicked and got along. The women are useful as well as resourceful. Just not sitting around crying and passing out. Ready to read the next book now!
Good gradual build of tension and also of relationships between the characters . If I had any caution for the writer, it would be that you have brought the plot back around to a sort of new beginning, that's great. Do be careful not to repeat yourself in part two.
As a book goes this started out very slow. The characters were introduced and when the first monster appeared the pace picked up. I was wondering what they were going to do to survive.
I really wanted to like this one, but the slow start, the hiccups throughout, and the lack of character development was what did it for me. I would have almost wanted the author to go full fledge smut, but it didn’t even do that. Just not a good harem story
Wow!! What an amazing new Series from Logan Jacobs. Very interesting plot and I’m dying to see how what is in store for Jamey, Devonna, Natasha and Sarah!
This author in is not always my cup of tea, but this a very good fantasy harem survival adventure. It is well written and edited. I anxiously await the sequel.
