As you may have noticed, there are no testimonials in this description imploring you to read this book. I vetoed that. The only testimonial I am interested in is the one you will have from reading and experiencing this book.
Please DO NOT read this book about me. Read this book about you. Read it about being. As you read, ask
Who would I need to BE to be a more loving person? Who would I need to BE to be a more effective parent? Who would I need to BE to create a level of confidence that is remarkable? Who would I need to BE to be at peace with who I am? Who would I need to BE to be fully in love with myself and my life? Who would I need to BE to live the most extraordinary life I can live?
I promise you that if you read this book with the intention of expanding your state of being, you will do exactly that. Your experience will be remarkable.
Who you are Being is everything.
Loving you. Be Blessed. Be you.
STEVE HARDISON
* * *
“Steve Hardison is known in coaching circles, and business circles, and personal growth circles and any circle you can think of as ‘the ultimate coach,’” says Steve Chandler, renowned coach and author of forty books. “He coaches way beyond the normal concept of coaching. To call him a mere life coach is like calling The Beatles a garage band.”
To be coached by Steve Hardison is to have your world rocked. It is to explore the hidden corners of your soul. It is a journey for the lionhearted.
This book is not a self-help book. It is not a book about how to coach. But it is—as much as is possible without sitting in his office as a paying client—a way to experience Hardison’s coaching. It also provides a candid glimpse into his childhood, his trauma, and the things that nearly crushed him. It reveals his evolution into the highly sought-after coach he is today. And along the way it shares insights and experiences arising from Hardison’s interactions with prominent figures in the world of coaching and self-development, including Devon Bandison, Steve Chandler, Karen Davis, Dusan Djukich, Werner Erhard, Jason Jaggard, Byron Katie, Stephen McGhee, Rich Litvin, John Patrick Morgan, Michael Neill, Michael Serwa, Iyanla Vanzant and others.
But Steve Hardison would not say any of this. He would say this book is about BEING. It is ultimately about YOU.
So, settle into your favorite chair, open the book—and fasten your seatbelt.
I picked this book up based on the positive reviews, what a mistake that was. I went into this book with an open mind, never heard of Steve but the description sounded interesting as did the concept of reading this book of it “being about you”.
What followed was cliche after cliche, the classic life coach journey where they do (or claim to have done anyway) larger than life things. There’s questionable client stories (vignettes, lots of focus on how much his sessions cost and very little of the books content was profound.
In the description of this book, it claims that “if you read this book with the intention of expanding your state of being, you will do exactly that. Your experience will be remarkable.” Well that couldn’t be further from the truth.
I hate writing bad reviews for books but I felt cheated of my time and the other reviews are misleading so I thought I’d write my own to warn anyone who’s looking for a genuine book to expand their state of being to avoid this.
Steve might be the best coach in the world. This book was painful to read. It was a giant sales pitch for his work. It could have been one hundred pages. If it was, then it might been a little more readable.
I also was pulled in by the positive reviews. The only thing I could think of was they all must be part of Hardison’s crew.
At the beginning of 2021 one of my clients mentioned “this coach Steve Hardison”, and you “would love him, he’s LDS and loves Byron Katie just like you.”
I immediately started to follow him on IG. His Instagram feed is hilarious and uplifting and unique (who posts pictures from their phone of their Facebook post on their computer!?).”, but I can’t get enough of it.
Imagine my surprise last month when a book that my coach asked me to read by Steve Chandler mentions him, and then the name Steve Hardison and his connections keep multiplying.
Byron Katie, Werner Erhard, M. Catherine Thomas, A course in Miracles, and a Mormon who dressed up a Jesus for Halloween? Of course I devoured this book as fast as possible and it did not disappoint. The writing is excellent and flows effortlessly through the story of his life and experiences with his clients/family. I couldn’t put it down.
I felt inspired. I felt seen. I felt loved. I cried and I laughed.
How can someone be so crazy out there and so spiritual all at once?
I feel safe enough to take all of the editing going on in my life and let it go.
How much love can one person receive and give? I don’t know the answer, but it sounded like Steve is getting pretty close.
How does this book have so many 5 star reviews. Minimal, basic information. Reads like an infomercial. The meat of the book could be condensed into a page or two.
When I initially bought the book, I thought it was a biography about Steve Hardison's life and how one could be a better coach, by learning his approach. What I actually learned from the book, is that the author, Amy Hardison, uses the evolution of Steve's life as a means to assist the reader to learn how BEING your authentic self and being in service of others, can profoundly change everything about your life. Even if one comes from a past that is not ideal, everyone has the capacity to change the story of their lives and to share what they have learned to be in the service of others. Well done Amy Hardison, Steve's lovely wife and all those who participated in the research and editing! If you read the book as if it is about YOU (and not Steve), the book is inspiring and deeply transformative.
This book was gifted to me by a dear friend. It’s intriguing to read the back -
“Read this book about you. Read it about being. As you read ask yourself: “Who would I need to BE to be a more loving person…, more effective parent…, create… confidence that is remarkable…, be at peace with who I am…, be fully in love with myself and my life…, love the most extraordinary life I can live?”
I read this in fits and spurts the past couple months. Sometimes I couldn’t put it down and other times I just wanted to process what I had read. I think I just need to start it over again. Steve is a compelling person and I feel like I’m still trying to internalize the discussions on creation, “the document,” and commitment.
The vignettes were interesting and I liked seeing how he has helped create amazing things in others lives.
Personally, I think the real star of this book is the author (Amy), rather than the subject - her husband Steve. Her retelling of Steve's life is detailed, honest, and at times inspiring.
I probably would have given this book 5 stars if it weren't for the fact that so many of the vignettes (client stories) centred around how spending 100 hours with Steve will cost you $150,000 ($1,500 per hour). By the sounds of it, his clients say he's worth it, but to say that paying that amount of money is essential for committing to the process doesn't resonate with me. That amount might nothing to a billionaire, and may leave a less wealthy client destitute.
Nevertheless, he seems like a larger than life character that I would enjoy meeting in real life. Also, he seems so persuasive that he would likely convince me that his fee is worth every penny.
This book definitely has some pretty great topics that are applicable for all people, whether it is about writing out your own truths and believing in those fully or staying committed through and through. As amazing of a person Steve may be, I am a little put off by how much people speak him out to be, as if he is some omnipotent figure. I understand that he is able to impact a lot of people in amazing ways, but it still rubs me slightly the wrong way. Still would recommend this book to others. Shoutout to Grant for gifting me this book!
This came with big recommendations. “Please DO NOT read this book about me. Read this book about you.” There’s no other way to read the book, it’s about him. I can appreciate that he’s a unique person who makes things happen. You’d think this guy was some sort of god or something by the way wrote about him. I was about to quit at 100 pages in. I wish I did! I don’t give many negative reviews but I can’t recommend this one.
The book is really a good one about coaching, I wrote down 4-5 pages of notes about how to be a better coach to my family and team. And actually I would say, from this day on, If ever I think of a role model in a supporting/loving role, I’d think of Steve. The ultimate coach? I’d say - the ultimate friend. And this book made me realize how important this part is in coaching. Everyone of us deserves somebody thinking the best of us, someone believing in a far better future for us than we ourselves could ever imagine. And when they see the best in us, we will start to believe that too. I actually do this myself for my wife and kids - having clear visions for them to grow into. And I do see them growing into it. And the book emphasizes how important it is to commit to the coaching sessions. Not because the coach costs a lot of money, not because the coach is famous - but because coaching is about YOUR LIFE, and it must therefore take priority above anything else. You commit to Yourself! I will not praise a lot about the “document” and affirmations that Steve does, because this already is the way that I live my life. Call me crazy, but I start my day with an audio track recorded by me to me, like 10+ minutes each time. This reminds me of who I want to be, why I do what I do. Steve also talks about that a lot, creating a vision for yourself of who You want to be - and committing to focusing on that, daily. One of the things that Steve and I have in common - our word is the most important thing. Not just to other people, but to ourselves. I actually was known through life that when I promise something, You can count it as done. And just like Steve says - it’s not a “nice to have trait”, but it is essential for great success. But, a bit criticism too. When I read “The Ride of a Lifetime” by the Disney’s CEO, I really really liked the book. Then I recommended it to a friend and his opinion was that it was all advertising - bot the CEO and Disney too. Now I got that feeling with Ultimate Coach - it was a bit “too good to sound true”. Maybe it is… But let me just say that if the goal of the book would have been to get more clients to Steve, it was written perfectly for that :) If You read it, You will love him. But I somehow get the feeling that Steve was too involved with the book, shaping it. Oh, and last critical part: I’d recommend to skip the first 1/3 of the book, its about what has shaped him as person, growing up. Start where the book starts speaking about the way he coaches. This is truly the magic.
The book is a biography of Steve Hardison its about knowing him and while doing so know yourself right from your childhood till now...
Every story of Steve's life is supposed to be related to yours and learnt in the perspective.
The book is like a MLM marketing it comtains all the flattery vignettes from his clients.. they call him God like or super human in my opinion he is a low IQ non engineer stupid person..
He charges 200,000 USD for coaching 100 hours with him or 150,000 USD for less time
He brings the best in you by prcisely telling you who you are what you can do.
The good part is the first 60% of the book makes no sense and it boils your from inside you recal all your childhood memories and you are supposed to make peace with your child hood tha tis the way he changes or the book changes you things you can learn are: 1. Forgive your self in all the areas of life right from childhood till now. 2. Be committed in what ever you do its like balckhole commitement sucks up things what ever you need. Be man of your words 3. Take Actions. 4. Create yourself and Create things.
the book is bullshit but it throws gold buggets you should carch it and that can change your life for sure hence gave it the first star the second star is for all the hardwork done by Amy to write this book lots of hardwork is done to blow trumpets about Steve not even a single negative client Vignette is written meaning Steve never had a single client who failed in life after meting him, yet lots of hard work is spent in writing this book It does change you if you belive in it for sure because you boil and you get frustrated the way the book is written and you get new lessons and you change.
It was nice to know Steve as a person, he is very comitted for his time and his love yowards people they are healed internally emotionally and becomes confident, thats the purpose of this book.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I was skeptical of the promise in the book on how to read it. I thought to myself, can a book really change your life in the way it’s being talked about here?
I’ve read plenty of books and they’ve been great but the level of this promise was something different.
I followed the instructions however. I read the book about me.
And that literally changed everything.
I found myself literally seeing myself in the pages. Not only that, I started to change. It started to change my relationship with myself, with my wife, with my kids and with everyone around me.
Reading this book caused me to do things I would never normally do or think was in the realm of possibility.
It caused me to book a flight to London, to travel overseas for the first time in my life and to commit to myself In a way I didn’t know was possible.
It caused my wife to do the same, before even reading the book and to leave our kids for the first time ever; something that again, was not even on my radar.
A book did this. That’s because it’s not a book. It’s so much more than. And you’ll only understand that if you read it about YOU.
It’s about you.
You only get that from experiencing it. There’s no other way to explain it.
This is literally one of the most powerful books I’ve read and if you read like you read every other book, you might miss that.
Don’t do that to yourself.
Read this book about you and who you’re being.
The best part is this is only the beginning. I know there is so much more possibility available. All this from a book.
There’s a reason Steve Hardison asks you to make this book about you. —-It’s because that is where the magic happens. You see, while most people are chasing dreams and setting goals instead of commitments, Steve is out there creating a special place for people who make the change. In fact, this book is not for just anyone, it’s for those who want to take a good look at themselves.
As I read through it, parts of me died. I felt as though a lot of my beliefs were just that—beliefs. I felt personally attacked when Steve called out the liars who were trying to live a story that just wasn’t true. And I felt loved while that was happening. I felt my inner self growing out of me.
This book covers everything from relationships, loyalty to yourself, business and selling, to fun and adventure, to leadership.
For those who are ready to explore the field of possibility in building and healing, for those who need to start setting boundaries and creating a world through the words you say—having total clarity and devotion; this book is for you, about you!
I’m only half way through and this book had transformed both my life and my coaching practice to another level. In a world where there is so much noise about marketing and sales, I found this a powerful reminder to slow down and sink into my heart instead. Not chase but create and attract.
I know there is vagueness in it. However because it’s heart/soul lead coaching, the technique is just that. Love and don’t hold back giving all and believing in the possibilities that this will automatically attract. To treat life as a holy journey and worship that life with action rather than waiting on the sidelines for something or someone to happen.
I’ll update if my views change by the end. However as someone who created a lot and suffered a lot, I found this to be a deep answer in a noisy shallow world lost in incoherent questions.
If you read this book through judgement it will sound like it’s a trumpeting of a highly paid, maverick coach.
If you read this book (as it’s suggested) as YOURSELF you will have insights into your own being that will surprise you.
At least that’s what happened to me. I had to keep letting my judgement drop to listen with a clear mind. And as if by magic , by chapter 4 I couldn’t put it down.
This book helped me see at a deeper level that we are all creators of our own world. Right now.
And had me look to who would I be if I want a xxx (fill in the gap). An extraordinary book. Written with love by the protagonists wife.
All I can say is read it as if you were reading about yourself.
This book came to me on the 30th December 2020. I wasn’t looking for a book to read, but somehow through a very unusual source I downloaded this book. I’ve never heard of Amy Harrison, never worked with a coach (and probably never will). I am an “ordinary Jo” based in London UK. Why am I telling you this? Gawd knows! This is the first book in many years where I have pushed other commitments (like sleep) aside to read. To say it’s enlightening is an understatement. To say it made me think, also underestimates it. Amy Hardison and Alan Thompson write in a way that draws you in, it builds slowly and grabs your attention. It leaves you wanting to know the outcome, but also to read the journey, relate to the journey and most of all take responsibility and learn. A great book, well written and very enjoyable. Maybe in the coming weeks, months, years, it will become clear on why it came to me to read. Enjoy the journey. This is no ordinary book.
As you read this book the way Steve Hardison requests -back cover and the first couple pages- it starts to get into your consciousness and you find yourself starting to show up powerfully in your life. I found myself doing better in business, going deeper with my wife, and having more meaningful interactions with my friends. I could FEEL different ways of being presented to me as I read. This has never before happened to me when reading a book. It was wonderful!
I am very sad to give negative opinion but I just have to. Initially I thought that this will be the best book I ll ever read, but I am disappointed. I am writing my review here because on Amazon it was deleted. Steve Hardison, perfect human being, okay what's next? Book provides almost 0 value. It's just stories about how amazing Steve is. Summary of this book would probably be 1 or 2 pages, because 95% of it is unnecessary fluff and advertisement of Steve coaching and praising his greatness and perfection.
The back of the book reports: “I promise you that if you read this book with the intention of expanding your state of being, you will do exactly that. Your experience will be remarkable”.
I’m a coach, but you don’t have to be one to fully enjoy this book. You just have to be. To read between the lines and to let the words flow inside of you. Read it to experience it. Read it to live it.
And if you will do that, as Steve’s promise, your experience will be remarkable.
Well, before you read this book, ensure you don't come with a preset mind expecting strategies, techniques and tips. This is a book of being. It's okay if you don't get it the first time. Stay committed and let it sink. Might take a while and a couple of reads before you dust off the previous patterns impost by this world obsessed with the 'doing' stuff.
Steve has influenced thousands. Allow him to help you!
I came across this book completely by chance and wow! What a gem, what a gift! Steve Hardison is the coach I have aspired to be, before I even heard of him! Reading about this man and his work was an experience. So much love and expansion. Incredibly grateful for teachers like this giant! Thank you Amy and Alan.
On the surface, this is just a book about a cool guy who changes people's lives. But reading it the instructed way, through the lens of who *I'm* being, was not only insightful, but completely transformative! I have grown so much through this book and connecting with the group of people who've been born out of it. It's all about the BEING.
Read it about yourself and it will change your life. There is an instruction video by Steve on how to do it. Before picking up the book (again), read the back cover, then a first couple of pages, and then the chapter you want to read next - about yourself. How do you want to be? As a parent, spouse, friend, son, neighbour, community member, professional...? You can not overdo your being.
This is a book about how you are 'being' rather than what you are doing. I found it genuinely fascinating and most certainly thought provoking. It is not a Top Ten List book. Rather it is one designed to reach far deeper into you. I would recommend this book not only to coaches but to anyone who wants to take a deep look into themselves.
I’ve taken a few inspiring thoughts from this book for myself, but this is a book praising Steve:-) The book inspired me to watch the youtube TBOflnfl but I don’t feel the energy and inspiration from it at it was described in the book through testimonials… That’s why I think there is a lot of exaggeration in this book… or my heart is so cold and closed and unloving:-(
I really liked the book, but I wouldn’t say I LOVED it. While I learned so so much here I found at times the vignettes bordered on too much ego stroking - we get it, he’s awesome haha
I still feel this is a really fabulous resource for coaches, especially for HD projectors
I just finished reading this book. It took me three days. I couldn’t put it down. And now I am starting to read it again. More slowly this time so I can take in even more. Something touched me at the level of my soul.
Really loved reading this book. It's a love letter to Steve Hardison. It's not for everyone but as this had a ton of inspiration for me as someone who it's constantly trying to improve the lives of my clients.
