Songwriter India Joelié Bennett has spent the last twenty years being loyal to the wrong man. After letting her rapper ex and son’s father go for good, she decides a change of scenery is in order. When her sister’s boyfriend hits her with an offer she can’t refuse, she heads down to Cristal Beach for some extended fun in the sun and an exciting new career on the horizon. Single and child free, she jumps headfirst into her newfound freedom. Leading to a passionate one-night stand with a tall, dark and handsome stranger that owes her nothing. Her only regret is that she’ll never see him again.
Retired tattoo artist and entrepreneur Raymond Sosa Pierre isn’t in the mood to babysit a grown woman. That’s exactly what his old friend asks of him regarding their girlfriend’s sister that’s staying next door. He agrees, expecting to simply check in from time to time. What he doesn’t expect is for her to be the beautiful, sexy and incredibly tempting woman he shared a heated night of passion with. Aware of her past, Raymond has no plans on being the rebound but there’s something about India that makes him want to give her everything she deserves.
India thinks it’s impractical to fall out of love with one man and into love with another so soon. Unable to deny Raymond is everything her heart desires, she’s willing to give love another try. Will a bitter ex, a connection between the two men that’s too close for comfort and reservations on both sides tear them apart? Or will they choose the love they deserve instead now that they’ve found what they’ve been missing?

When I say I loved this book, I LOVED this book! India's story was moving, full of emotion, and growth. If there were ever a character deserving of a second chance at love, it was definitely India Joelié. After she spent 20 years being verbally abused, mentally abused, manipulated, berated, and unappreciated by her f*ck boy ex, India deserved a man who loved and treated her like a queen. I just hate she wasted so much of her time and talent on Dexter's trash azz. India is a prime example that love will have you ignoring all the red flags that are practically slapping you in the face. But, when she finally opened her eyes and remembered her worth, she dipped so fast Dexter almost lost his mind. They say one man's trash is another man's treasure and Raymond Sosa absolutely treasured India. That man broke the mold with his understanding, patience, and love. He not only told India was deserving of love but, he showed her. Honey, Ray was intentional with his actions and made sure to back up everything he said. I loved that India experienced a lot firsts with Ray. It was so sweet watching them fall in love organically with minimal drama. India was definitely less problematic than Isis. Dexter and Two First Names were trash and I truly hope Karma pays them a visit sooner rather than later. What You've Been Missing was beautifully written. It was sweet, romantic, and sexy with just the right amount of drama. I’ve never swoon so much reading a book. Kema B. did a phenomenal job showing us second chances truly are a blessing. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Raven and Mase's story. Since it was never revealed (purposely I'm sure), I need to know who Raven was sneaking around. Ma'am, inquiring minds want to know neowwwww!
Kema B knows how to give readers a book featuring a MAN! I may or may not have teared up when Ray proposed.. 😭🥰
What You’ve Been Missing is a perfectly titled book that features India and Raymond. India is a talented songwriter who’s been in a tumultuous relationship of over 20 years with her ex- Dexter. Ray is a no-nonsense former bad boy turned legit business owner and he exudes Zaddy energy. Whew 😅when these two connect, it was an instant attraction- a one night stand turned love story.
I truly loved what Ray brought to India’s life- if, “let me upgrade you” was a person, Ray is the example. He loved him some India and when I say these two were nasty! I mean… they did not hold back when it came to their love making. Another thing that I loved was that India wasn’t some sad damsel in distress, sis held her own and she let Dexter hear it! It was everything getting to see Ray and India’s love story evolve and Ray becoming the father and husband that he turned into- totally swooning. 🙌🏾🥺
This read was so so good and the icing on the cake was Freedom and Isis. I Stan ❤️
Ladies, this story was what I needed today. This pre-Thanksgiving story had much for a reader to be thankful for. A tight story, yes. A swaggy male leading character to die for, yes. A sweet, caring leading lady who found her worth, yes. The report also had a lazy, poor parent, no talent baby daddy. Also, a self-absorbed boogie needed a life female with no real brain activity among the pages. For this story, you should focus on India and Sosa? Their story will have you falling in love with a thug...lol! Free is back, and he gets a quick drool as well. Give this one a try...
Sosa and Dia's love story was so cute! Dia was a female character that I absolutely loved and Sosa was a seasoned zaddy that would have any woman drooling. This story was dope. P.S. I hope Dexter stub his pinky toe.
I absolutely loved this story! Kema B was not playing around when she wrote this one!
India dedicated 20 years of her life to a selfish, narcissistic, cheating little boy….and that’s putting it mildly. Sis dealt with years and years of mental, emotional, and verbal abuse at the hands of her on and off again long term boyfriend and father to her precious little boy.
Like the song says…”when a woman’s fed up, it ain’t nothing you can do about”
India found herself at her wits end and took a nice long extended vacation to the beautiful Cristal Beach to focus on herself, her goals, and her future. She had a real talent for songwriting and it was time for her to chase her dreams!
I loved that for her! I was rooting for her throughout this book! Sis been throughout a lot but she was far from some damsel in distress.
What she didn’t see coming was the fine specimen of a MAN, Mr. Raymond Sosa….woooo that man was everything! A night of letting go of all her inhibitions and enjoying the moment changed her life for the better.
“Because a man who listens to what your mouth says and hears the things it doesn’t, just to do everything he can to see you smile, was a man of action. Which was exactly what I deserved.”
Raymond was indeed a man of action. Raymond was everything India needed. He was all man. His patience, and the way he anticipated her needs had me swooning. He was so in tune with her wants, needs, and emotions. India reciprocated that same energy! I love reading about some GROWN mature love, without all the petty mess. These two together in the bedroom was so freak nasty! Raymond had our girl turnt out! Okay! 🥵
These two had so many coincidences that tied them together, it was crazy! 😆 There were some things that I DID NOT see coming. I was thoroughly entertained from beginning to end Y’all know when people try to “glow up” haters can’t allow them to do it in peace!
I was so geeked to read Isis and Freedom from “Free Game” make appearances in this book! 😆
I loved the storyline! I absolutely loved these characters! Kema B wrote the hell out of this one! I highly highly recommend this story!
Raymond. Ray. Sosa— all the above was just what India was missing and what she needed. Polar opposite of D-Worst (ugh), Ray appeared in India’s life when she needed him the most. Ray was the ultimate upgrade. India went from Dia (what kind of nickname is that anyway? 🙄) to Lil Baby and nothing was the same. I’m glad that Jo was able to heal from her wounds while being shown how love it supposed to be. Super happy that she is a woman with her own budding career opposite of her dead beat. Awesome read Kema!👑
I love a swoon worthy book and a second chance love! review coming sooN! But this was a happy read with good sex scenes that i needed this week!
I’m back to add to this because listen India and Raymond were a vibe!!! Second chance love is one of my favorite tropes and especially the second chance love that’s giving love another try and not a rekindle situation. Ray was finally at a place where he could be all he could for a woman and India was finally in a place of healing where she let go of all her baggage and could receive love the right way. Reading this book I was just in awe of how perfect timing can be. India’s ex was a mess and I’m glad that her and her son can finally be free of the drama. They deserved better! I will say the final chapter (no spoilers) was truly special and showed how much Isis loved her sister and wanted her to be happy. That gave me all the warm feels! The updates from her and Free throughout were awesome! Looking forward to what’s next! I want to know about Raven and Who was her mystery man. I also want to know who is going to tame Mase’s heart! Looking forward to the next book!
Raymond, Ray, Sosa (all the same man) is that Man, For Real! For Real!!!!!
Raymond Sosa Pierre is living his life, as a retired tattoo artist and now an entrepreneur. He is making power moves and has been busy building his empire. Before you know it, he finds himself at 40 years old and has no desire to settle down, in his mind that time has come and gone. So now he just enjoys himself with a different woman, loves his parents, and makes moves.
India Joelie Bennet is the older sister of Isis Bennett (Free Game: A Foxview Heights Novel). After being with one man for 20 years with nothing to show for it but her beautiful son Evan, India has finally been given the opportunity to step out on her own and shine. Finally leaving her deadbeat cheating man and son's father, India moves down to Cristal Beach to fully immerse herself into her songwriting career. And there is no time for anybody else except for her and her son.
Two souls unbeknownst to them will meet, nobody was looking but that is the funny thing about love. When you aren't looking, love finds you, and going on this ride with India and Raymond was absolutely beautiful. When you finally learn to love yourself and put yourself first (this is not selfish at all) that is when your path will open up to what you have denied yourself and been missing. This is what happened for these two, India and Raymond's time for real true love grabbed a hold of them and wasn't not letting go.
Now there is some drama, verbal and mental abuse, loss of self-worth, and infidelity. But it does not in no way diminish from this incredible story. I would highly recommend this book because it is everything and so much more in a love story. And if you haven't read her sister's book which I referenced up top please do so.
Oh this book was real GROWN!!! We doing it like this Ray and India?! If this how we handling things in the club at 35 & 40 hand me the clipboard and sign me all the way up. 🔥🌶🔥. Raymond did not come to play! Do you hear me. This was a man who was not with the $&@&. My heart went out to India because she managed to get her self tied to the F$&@boy of all F$&@boys but Ray came along and changed it all. One thing I appreciated about this book was that there were no games played and no toying with emotions. Disagreements were handled like adults and they didn’t hold on to anger. If they saw something that was off or felt a way, they talked it out and didn’t make assumptions straight GROWN FOLKS BEHAVIOR. One of my favorite quotes from the book was “There was no mistrust, secrecy, or waiting around for the shoe to drop. Just constant love, communication and a bond that grew stronger each day.” Whew!!! 🔥❤️ Kema B. put her foot in this story. I thought Freedom was that dude but Ray came in guns blazing, all has no brakes. He’s moved up my list of #bookbaes for sure. In the words of DaniLeigh…🗣”My lil baby, change your life yeah, that’s an upgrade….”
Kema did an outstanding job with showing there is a true blessing in second chances! Although India may have been missing something, Kema did not miss one detail in tell this story! Sosa is definitely a book bae to be considered! Excellence again!!
India and Raymond’s story is the perfect tale of God taking something from you, that you think is the best, but Him showing up and out by replacing it with something you never could have imagined. Kema B showed out on this one!
Summary: This book follows our MC India, a very talented song writer who's tired of taking the backseat to her boyfriend/child's father of over 20 years. She's the reason he's found so much success but instead of gratitude she deals with constant disrespect and manipulative verbal abuse. When she's officially fed up and embarrassed from Dexters bull. She calls on family to help her get away and take a hold of her career to eventually see her names in shining lights and form connections in the music industry. With her son in good care, and the block button tapped on Dexter she's in a new place and working with a new artist. Feeling herself she explores the city and ends up meeting club owner Raymond. A no nonsense dude with his eye on the prize. India is that prize and after their one night stand he decides one night just isn't enough. And if she's willing to give him a change he's going to give her the world.
This book was 🥵. Ray pulls no punches when it comes to his life and his girl. I love seeing him navigate his business while also showing us his past he took a step away from. India also is not one for the bull. It sucked that she got stuck in that relationship for so long but its never too late to bounce and restart her life for the better and that she did. I enjoyed their relationship and seeing Dexter get what he had coming ten fold.
This author did it again. She gave us an engaging storyline with the right ounce of drama and a whole lot of fiery chemistry between India & Ray, Raymond if you're nasty and Sosa if you're sho nuff nasty! The emotional abuse India endured for a long time at the hands of D Real Trash Dexter took me back to a relationship that I was relieved when it ended. It can break you down but to see India winning made this story worthwhile. I love how this author has a pulse on the culture making her references both hilarious and timely. All I can say to those who have not read this book yet in Tabitha Brown's voice "Get into it"!
Since Ray is taken I won't say too much about him. I did respect and appreciate the way he loved and respected India. She deserved him after spending 20 years being unappreciated, berated and manipulated. I'm so glad she took time to work on herself and didn't punish herself for how long she stayed in her situation. Very good story. Probably my favorite of all Kema B.'s so far.
Ray, Raymond, Sosa, Big Man or whatever he tells me to call him is EVERYTHING!!!
This is a beautiful story of two of the most-deserving souls to find each other and grow a relationship that encompasses healing, trust and just building each other up and be the missing part of their otherwise full lives.
The chemistry between the two unsuspecting souls was off the charts and seemed to never let up. The mutual respect between the two of them was admirable.
The author gave us another memorable story so much so I'm moving to Cristal Beach! 🥰
Kema B has done it again! I loved this story from the first to last page. India a virgo like me was that b**ch period. So smart, sweet, and beautiful she deserved all the happiness in the world. Sosa was definitely zaddy 😋
😍😍😍 from beginning to end! This book was the truth, Sosa and India will have you blushing, laughing, and simply enjoying their story. This author did an amazing job! If you haven’t read this book, you’re truly missing out! Happy reading 💖
I’ve never swoon so much reading a book. My God Sosa… whew that man there I just love everything about him. India was a joy to read flaws and all. I’m glad she got more than what she deserve in the end.
This novel was beautifully written. I love heroine India. No matter how long it took her, she took control of her life. The romance in the story definitely gave me all the feels!
I really enjoyed India and Raymond. I am so glad I went back and read "Free Game," because it gave me a solid understanding of this book. Listen....I feel like India aka Jo was a Taurus because I felt her so deeply. She was my soul sister...sis was giving I ain't a killa but don't push me vibes and I loved that about her. Unfortunately she wasted too much of her life with a manipulative controlling fboy and I wanted her to win. When she finally bossed up and chose herself, there was no looking back. She was able to embrace the beautiful life she deserved pursuing her dreams with her talent of songwriting and her happily ever after with Sosa. Raymond aka Sosa goodness just sheesh. He was a seasoned man and I was here for it all. He was tall, dark, handsome, tatted up, with a street edge, but about his paper. I meaaaaaan dream man much. When women want a "bad boy," this is really what they want.... One that is ready to settle down but has that essence. He was everything and I love that he immediately chose up and showed Jo what it was like to be cherished. The ending was wild...I didn't call it, but it was dope. My only issue was the quotation marks. There were points where a character would be speaking and the sentence would start with quotations, but wouldn't end with one. It was throwing me off. Punctuation aside I can't wait to read more, I would love Mase's story, we gotta get this family married off lol.
I didn't think I could love anyone more than Freedom and then in walks Sosa. Raymond Sosa is a grown man in every sense of the word. And he set his heart on India from the beginning. Another decisive man. He was patient and kind, knew when he should handle things for India and when to let her handle them herself, he was a boss who led by example. The best kind. He was gentle with India, but still knew enough in their sexy moments to be Sosa and get a little grimy.
India captured me. The way she took her life back was inspiring. She spent a long time with the wrong person and the journey back to herself was a good one to read. I DID think she let D-Real get by with the disrespect too many times, but thinking about her acknowledging it as abuse and knowing how so many people ignore words and think they don't hold weight let me into her mind a little. I also loved how she protected her son.
They had a bit of drama, but the mature way they stepped into the problem and talked it out was so sweet to me. And the two of them were pretty hot. I loved that most of all. The connection they had, how they were always ready, and always in tune. Very hot.
SOSA!! He’s the one. I thoroughly enjoyed the way he set his claim on India. He was all man and made no mistake about it. He knew what he wanted and didn’t stop until he got it. The way he supported India and loved her through her pain was beautiful. He allowed her the space he knew she needed but set a limit on it too. He incorporated her in his life in all ways and protected her fiercely.
The sex was top notch and those two never missed a beat.
Loved it. I read this all the way through, no stops. So catching, from the 1st word until the last. Kema B. does it again.
I loved India and Raymond 'Sosa' story. I was intrigued by India's story when I read 'Free Game' with her sister Isis story. India was stuck in a one way, emotionless relationship with a wanna be street rapper who was using her to write his music and albums, while keeping her and their son hidden away and stifling her dreams and talent. I'm beyond glad she woke up from his controlling and cheating ways. 20 years is a lot of time to devote to someone, especially one whom doesn't appreciate it and value you. Then to trap her with a baby to only try to control her more was just sick. Her ex, Dexter aka D-Real was a sad piece of work. What I hated most was that he told their son, Evan, that he didn't want him and only used him to control his mom...who says that to their child🤨. Dexter didn't deserve Evan or India and I'm so glad Sosa stepped in, along with Free and all of the other men from Sosa's family and friends. Real man ish😏.
Sosa was so loving. I liked him right away. He talked all that mess about not wanting a wife or family and that all flew out the window once he met India. She had a hold on him and never let go, not that he wanted her to. I'm glad he let India take the lead on how things would progress with them. He wanted all of her and knew she needed to work on herself in order for her to fully give herself to a relationship, yet he wasn't going to wait too long; he wanted her bad😏. I was a bit upset that he thought India still loved her ex, and immediately thought to let her go, yet she wasn't having that and corrected that with the quickness. That's what I liked most about these 2; they fixed issues right away, no lingering. They laid it out, as grown folks should, and moved on. I love and respect people who can do that.
I loved that we got to get a quick glimpse of Free and Isis with their beautiful baby girl, there at the very end. I hope there's an update or that we'll see more of India and Sosa (hopefully with more babies) in books to come. I'm looking forward to a book about Raven, Sosa's cousin, or Mason, India's brother. There's definitely 2 great stories there.
As soon as I got the email that this was out, I had to read it. Kema B. draws you in and she doesn't disappoint.
Yaaaaaaaas! I loved me some Freedom in Free Game but Raymond Sosa is Bae too! And India, what a sweetheart she is! I hate, absolutely HATE it for her that she wasted all those years on Dexter's lame @$$!🤡He's the type of dawg that will never do right, but don't want to let you go so you can be with someone who truly deserves you. And so darn selfish, using his woman to further his agenda all the while doggin' her out! And how in THEE hell did he turn out that way with a mama like Ms. Lorraine?! I wanted to kick Dexter's arse a thousand ways to Sunday for the way he played on India's vulnerability and insecurties! But when she finally broke and was like, "enough is ENOUGH" I was her biggest cheerleader! And that beautiful specimen of a man--Raymond Sosa! So patient and understanding, and downright sexy AF!🔥🔥 He sat back and let India set the pace. The way he was there for her had me swoonin' and droolin'! Lawdamercy! Like he said, there were many facets to him--Ray the businessman/entrepreneur, Sosa the hood boss who would lay you out with just a glare, and then Raymond, Mr. Sexy Nasty in between the sheets who wouldn't give India that "O" until she called him Raymond! Have MERRRRRCY!😜🔥🔥 This story was my absolute favorite because I was in love with both Raymond and India. I loved the way India allowed the things she learned in therapy to guide her in her new beginnings, and I loved her kindness, and how she was such a wonderful mother. I loved her feisty side too! She could have easily been bitter, but she decided to make changes in her life for the better, and I was onboard with her 100%! I would have given this story 5++++ stars, but I tripped over quite a few grammatical errors.
Kema B did an impressive job telling this story I perceived as a shout out saying I Am Woman here me roar as I read how the unraveling of a woman’s decision to choose herself and break away from the toxicity that held her captive, finally frees her to begin to live. Beautifully depicted, this story gave the best and worst of relationships, family, lovers and friends and what one will do when faced with choice.
I’m headed to Cristal City because lawd have mercy that is where they are bidding the good. Reading this story, I couldn’t help but be envious and route and cheer for anything and everything to please work out and make me happy.
If you want steamy carnal copulations that make your damn toes want to curl, this is going to hit your honeypots hot spot. If you want sexy gorgeous men that know how to pull a women in…this the book for you. I stayed fully engaged in these highs, lows and cleverly added plot twists that the author did not give away easily.
The characters were everything you want in a love story with the exception of the antagonist…that ninja needs to be 10’ under, you’ll see when you read about this mofo. He is my most hated book man for now!
Wonderful story and I love, I mean absolutely love how Kema B recaps this at the very end, her summarization reminded me of the television show You on Netflix that put this entire story puzzle together because you don’t know what you think you know.
I do know you should buy this book because you’re going to enjoy this read😉
KEMA! Yes, ma'am! I was intrigued with India's character in Isis' book, and glad that we got the chance to learn her story. Miss India had the biggest heart, but allowed it to love the wrong man! Although she sat in a constant state of complacency with that trash ass boyfriend of hers, she never lost who she was deep within! The red flags were there, her intuition was screaming at her, but when love has a hold on you; it is hard to break free! I was so happy for her when she had the opportunity to leave the Heights to experience life on her own terms. Meeting Ray at the club, was her coming out party honey! I was like, go head on Indie! 😂 Ray! This right here is a man! He knew at first glance that she was going to change his life. The way that he took his time to get to know her, paid attention to every nuance, catered to and cared for her while she was coming to terms with her newfound feelings for him was everything! Can I just say that Dexter and Miss two first names were trash, and need to be thrown away pronto! 😡 Ughh.... I just could not believe him, and that ish he was pulling with Indie! My heart broke when we learned what Dexter said to Evan! Who says that to a child? Yo child at that? 😠 Anywho, finding out what Isis orchestrated made me soooo happy! Now that is love! Oh, do we get to find out who Raven is sneaking around with? 😂 What a beautiful read! Great job! 👍👍👍
India and Raymond were EVERYTHING for me. They were cute, beautiful/handsome, funny, and nasty. I mean, straight FILTHY! But I loved every bit of it. There were a couple of times I was ready to go to war. But Dexter and Melanie needed all the smoke. My only issue is they didn’t get enough of what they really deserved. I already didn’t like him from Free Game. This book solidified it. And I knew by her being associated with his b!+(h @$$, that I wasn’t going to like her. She will forever be in the land of unforgivable at this point. Unless Kema gives her a tragic redeemable situation, I can’t see it. But enough about the trash… Raymond Sosa Pierre was that BDE every good woman needs to come home to. I told Kema myself this but it bears repeating. Ray, Raymond, AND Sosa can get it. And 3 times on Sunday because, BAYBEE!!!! He was hot like fire. (Word to Aaliyah)
When I say I LOVE India and Ray!!!!! Their story was so good! India had wasted way too many years on her ex, it was good to see her truly living life finally. Her and Ray's chemistry was explosive! And despite the confusion at the beginning, I'm glad they didn't keep secrets from each other, they were very upfront about things and it served them well. Watching India blossom was beautiful! I was not expecting that random family connection they had and was kind of disappointed with how that shook out in the end, but still a great plot twist. Also, that bonus chapter...🤯mind blown, in the best of ways! Never would have guessed ANY of that, and it made me love ALL of them that much more. 👌🏾*chef's kiss* Great job! 5 ⭐️Stars!
I first met Indie in Free Game and from that novel you see that Indie is dealing with a trash ex/baby father and she is on the verge to moving up on the music industry as a song writer. 35 years young single mother and dealing with a trash BD she needs a change.
Without giving away any spoilers Indie leaves for a job commitment to Cristal Bay and this is where we meet Sosa 😍
Sosa street man turn business man. One thing missing in his 40 years of life was that one! Sosa is every bit of a man! Love him down!! Seasoned wise fine and knows what his wants man.
A night out turns into so much more! Sosa was a man that listened!! The dates were detailed he did more showing then talking a man that listens is a winner💕
This book has very minimal drama a lot of spice and it just made me feel good all over! If you read free game read this one next 💕
