He’s the most powerful name in marketing, but she’s about to turn his world upside down.
Julian Rivera has dedicated his life to building Atabey Industries with his brothers, and now he rules the marketing world. After his executive assistant takes early maternity leave, he hires Luna, who ignites his lust and tests his willpower. Unable to resist his attraction, Julian pursues the woman who runs his life and makes him laugh with every mishap. When he finds evidence someone in the company is selling secrets, it looks like Luna may not be who she seems. Julian’s heart and his company are on the line. Will the truth be able to salvage his trust, or will he lose the love he’s found?
She’s a good girl, but he makes her want to throw caution to the wind.
Exchanging sunny California beaches for the rain and wind of Portland is a small price to pay for the job of Luna’s dreams. Only, her hot new boss makes every day a challenge. As the attraction between them grows, Luna is torn between risking her career or giving in to her feelings for Julian. Just when everything seems to be working out, Luna’s loyalty is called into question. Can she keep her job and her man, or will her dreams lay shattered in the aftermath?
This ARC was gifted to me in exchange for my honest opinions. Oh my goodness, I loved this book. It was so sweet and heartwarming and super steamy. I loved the family values that were portrayed in this novel. It was such a nice part of the story. I would not recommend reading this book while hungry...the descriptions of food are absolutely mouthwatering. Lyra has an incredible way with words and makes you feel like you are living the story yourself.
Julian is the CEO of a marketing company one of the biggest in the nation if not the world. Luna is his new assistant. The attraction is instantaneous that doesn't mean there was insta love.
There's so much I love about this book.
I loved that Julian is not your typical CEO kinda guy. He's humble, a family ( his family is wild in the best ways) man, and a genuinely good guy. That doesn't mean he doesn't make mistakes because he does. And they are doozies. Luna is your beautiful girl next door who is unapologetic about who she is.
One of my favorite things about this book is that the setting isn't just where the story takes place it is its own character. Portland is undoubtedly my favorite place (Florence Or is my close second). The character and personality of the city really shine. I love when authors do this. You can tell when an author loves their settings. It really make me want to go to all the places and see all the things. Like right now I'm on doordash trying to figure out if I want to order those Blueberry cornmeal pancakes because they sound fantastic.
I very kindly was given an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review! ❤️
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Don’t walk, run!!
This is the first instalment in the series and I cannot wait to read the rest!! The pacing of the book was outstanding, the twists in the plot caught me totally off guard and kept me so engaged!!
The characters feel so real, like you or I could step in and be in this world - something I find CEO romances often lack but Lyra Blake has nailed this.
The pining, the food, the friendships. No characters were left behind and I’m eagerly awaiting the release of the rest of the series!
This is a great start to a new series and it is filled with steam, vivid descriptions, family values, drama, a lack of trust due to past issues, and great secondary characters. The main characters are developed, likable, relatable, and have great chemistry. I enjoyed this entertaining and engaging read. I voluntarily read an ARC and this is my honest review.
This is Lyra Blake's very first novel and I have to congratulate her for how neat the writing and plot are! I personally love to find new author because there are so many good stories out there needing to be read and I understand that when you're not a known author it's harder to have people reading your work, so I always prefer to read from Indie authors. It doesn't hurt that I also love office romances and the CEOxAssistant trope, thus it was amazing to find Julian on Instagram!
The book is the first one from the Rivera Brothers series (Gabriel is the second and it's already up for pre-order!) and it's set in the cold and windy Portland. Julian is the head of Atabey Industries. He's passionate about his company and he's also extremely commited to maintain a healthy work environment for his employees. He's facing a huge problem, though: His competitor is stealing some of his best employees and his assistant had to take an early maternity leave. This is Luna's queue to step in. Coming from the sunny California, Luna Stone takes over the Assistant job at Atabey Industries and has to get used to a completely different weather, a new city, a new job and a smoking hot boss.
Well, the book is amazing. As I mentioned before, the writing is neat, but there's more. Lyra sets the corporate mood on the book beautifully! The meetings, the work trips, the luxury, their day-today!! I still can't get over the scene where they're standing outside a café waiting to be served. It's so domestic, so normal! I loved it! Everything is so well-written. Good enough for you to immerse deeply into Portland's corporate universe.
Other few things that I really enjoyed were: 1) How Luna is a foodie. She just eats. Luna loves to eat and she's not sorry, better yet to have someone that cooks so well as Julian... I have to say that you'll never look at bagels the same way after you finish this book. And 2) No tragic backgrounds. No cold and collected abusive guy. Julian is actually lovely and warm. He loves with no reservations (He screws up sometimes, but who doesn't?) and he really loves Luna even when he hadn't realize it yet.
So, if you are looking for an office romance minus all the angst normally applied into the CEOxAssistant trope... Julian is the book-boyfriend you're looking for!

An enjoyable romance for sure but wasn't quite a new favorite. Entertaining but I felt a little disconnected from the characters. Might been my own mood but it's a 3.5 star for me. Will probably continue on with the series of I find the next ones on my app
This is a new author to me recommended by my daughter. This book has romance, intrigue, and drama. Definitely a book worth reading. I just finished Julian, and now I am on to Gabriel. I can't wait to see what is in store for this brother of the Rivera family!!
Not what I was expecting but overall Julian is such a golden retriever and I enjoyed the story very much. Assistant/boss with a touch of sweet touch that will leave you saying awwww!
I really enjoyed this book and the ease to it. There wasn’t any overly complex character development or too many characters introduced that made you lost to the story. I really felt the almost innocence of Luna and Julian was a tough guy but not a real jerk. I loved the implementation of the family aspect. Obviously with this being the first of a series it set up the other members in the family that will have their own stories but the closeness of the family was a great touch to how this story embraced loved. The build to the black moment was great and the groveling was perfect. This was just a really fun first story.
This is actually the second book of Lyra’s that I’ve read. I was introduced to this world via Frayed Edge. That being said— I freaking LOVE this story! Even knowing the ultimate ending, I love how Lyra brought us to that place. I love Julian and the transformation he undergoes. I love Luna and the complexity of her character. She’s fierce and loyal and comfortable and still vulnerable. Ugh Lyra… just keep giving me these men and their stories. I cannot wait to sink onto… umm INTO Gabriel next. 😉
This was my first Lyra Blake read and I will be reading more. I thought I was done with kind hearted rich guys as I immersed myself into the dark romance world.... but still my beating heart, Julian has made me repent and fall in love with the sweet alpha trope once again. The blurb tells you the premises. I will tell you to read this book if you want hot scenes with the sweetest candy mixed in for good measure.
I picked this up because I was familiar with the author and wanted to support her efforts. I was pleasantly surprised by the humor and heart in her writing and I look forward to reading more of her work.
