Saw this and thought of getting it for a friends husband. Read the first few pages and had to physically restrain myself from burning every copy in existence. Misogynistic bullshit. Fuming with rage after reading any of this actually.

This book made me feel sorry for all the women whose partners read this and genuinely think this is a good book. I don't appreciate pregnant women being made fun of like this. In this book, you'll be called a "raging bitch". You'll be told that your body is ugly and that if your partners blinks really fast they might be able to get through having sex with you. You'll also be told that even though you're throwing up at least you're losing weight. I genuinely want to know why this book still exists.

Ragebait as a book.
Ladies if you want to hate the world more, go on and read this book where this group of dads who are cowardly enough to hide under a pen name degrade women, sexualise every aspect of them and talk of them as no better than pigs rolling around in the mud. “Written with consultation with a gynaecologist and paediatrician” meaning they asked for advice from the doctors and then proceeded to cover their ears when the doctors began to speak.
Get your boyfriend this book and if he agrees with anything in this book then you know to break up. The men writing this book have never been in contact with a woman and probably have only seen women from when their mother forces them to go outside from their basement.
Overall, terrible book, should never be sold and we should grieve for the trees cut down to make copies of this book

Really disappointed in this book. I think most of the one-star reviews sum up the criticism well, but the real kicker for me is the portion of the book that talks about the dangers of labour. How your wife might die in labour, but your biggest concern isn't the dead wife and mother to your child, it's YOU, DAD! It's you and your worries about how will you care for the child alone - and really that's the only reason you should worry about labour. Screw your dead wife amirite? Yup...this book even manages to turn the fatal risks associated with labour to being about men. That's on top of the raging b*tch comments, weight loss comments, treating women's pregnant bodies as disgusting, dehumanizing pregnant women, and blah blah blah. This book should be pulled from the shelves. I couldn't hate it more if I tried.

The author and the men in this book are ignorant and tone-deaf about what pregnancy really entails for a woman. I bet they whined even louder when their wives tried talking to them about the genuine pain or nausea they were going through due to pregnancy. This book reads like pulp “dic-lit” written by teenage boys who are obsessed with what sex should be like and how to get it in any way possible. That seems to be all they have in their heads. I mean, you either have to be stupid or misogynistic to be this oblivious. And I genuinely think it's former lol.

I am all for humour, but this was full of degrading and honestly disgusting language. If u agree with this writing then you need a dog not a child- You shouldn’t even be married this was horrifying. Imagine going through one of the most terrifying experiences a woman can go through,
And thinking “ being a man is awful, u have to deal with the raging bitch your wife becomes.”
The whole time it felt like the writer was encapsulating insecurities and clearly projecting them.
Would not recommend.

misogyny coated with rainbows and sunshines. Dads if you're ever thinking of doing what the book says, don't. Stopped reading it after a few pages cuz it pissed me off. The book essentially disguises misogyny, selfishness and victim mentality into a "funny" book. Your wife just birthed your child so you might as well TRY to be a good father by NOT reading this book

Everything nascent fathers need to know – learning to breathe easily!

The ‘author’ of this book – “Dad Is” – is group of men who, under consultation with a gynecologist and pediatrician, shared thoughts about the rigors, terrors, and fun of being fathers-to-be! Their goal - to talk about real issues of modern-day fatherhood as a touchstone for men around the globe, enlightening and enhancing their accompaniment to pregnancy and infancy to the toddler stage.

The tone of this most entertaining guide is set in the Foreword, titled ‘Your Wife/Partner is Pregnant’: ‘Your bedroom is riddled with dozens of books about pregnancy, labor, parenting, and motherhood. Your partner spends all day talking to friends who have “been there’ and is now endlessly on the phone with her mom, soliciting advice. She randomly smiles at strollers when passing them on the street! At your local coffee shop, the baby screaming next to you doesn’t annoy her anymore (a mere two months ago she almost threw a fork at one of those). At night she’s on various websites and forums, chatting with profiles named ‘Jesse’s Girl’ or AVA4 (OMG four kids??)….Well, dear father–to-be, this book is for you! You: the man living with the woman who is the emotional, cranky, tired and bloated version of the woman who used to be your wife…This book was written to tell you, in your own terms, about the really important things that are about to happen, as a man and as a future father – the things no one will tell you about… ‘

And with that degree of honesty – and sharp wit – this entertaining book discusses everything men need to know about the testing for pregnancy and first thoughts, the first trimester (the female sisterhood, morning sickness, how to deal with side effects), the second trimester (the trauma of maternity clothes and how to help with the wardrobe, speaking to the pregnant abdomen), the third trimester (men’s anxieties about money, commitment, how to shop for baby, arranging the nursery, picking a name, birth preparation classes), labor and delivery, the maternity ward, and After the Birth: Welcome to Real Life!

The content is related is an easy to read format – short passages rich with information and humor – and fun illustrations of the dad images. Every conflict fathers-to-be face becomes informative in ideas and rib tickling in detail. This is not only a most entertaining book on the subject matter: it is also a very well informed resource guide to the many topics that arise in the pregnancy territory. Recommended.

Wow! The best gift ever to my husband (and me!)

First and foremost- such an important topic, all the pregnancy guides are written for women, and that’s great for us, but keeps the husband out of the picture.

This guide made me laugh, got me emotional, and also helped me realize that I’m normal….

To all the expecting couples out there - a MUST.

BTW - the design is beautiful! Loved it!

Easy to read and Digest

For new dads, this is a great introduction into the 9 month pregnancy process. This is an easy, straightforward read that covers the key aspects of what you can expect as a father and birthing partner.

If you struggle to get through some of the denser material on this topic I highly recommend picking this one up.
