Hefty (I am not a medical student but a mom of a child with a rare kidney condition)! However, if you need an intimate understanding of the kidney, this was useful. Prepare to take notes and look up definitions and learn lots.

This is "the best introductory book in renal physiology" I know. A must read book for all students planning to enter or in medical school. If your not a medical student it is a very readable book if you want to understand renal physiology (kidney ect...). If you read this book you'll probably have a better understanding than your doctor in renal physiology. Thanks Dr. Vander.

Going through this one a second time. Amazing how most people admitted to the hospital are in acute renal failure...oh, how Vander explores the wonder of pee making. I can only hope round 2 is exciting as the first time I read it.

Based on my previous highlights, I actually finished reading it in my first year of medical school. Hardly remember it though
