STORY
This was truly a rollercoaster ride for me and I found myself entranced by this book. You had the relationship/plot between Raoul and Evelyn playing out, and the secondary plot which I got hooked on. Raoul and Evelyn had a teenage puppy love that didn’t have time to happen or blossom. Fast forward to years later, and we have a Mafia boss in the making who isn’t the same and a woman who never forgot the boy who left her.
So I have to say, I have read scenarios like Raoul and Evelyn before, and it’s no different, but I do not know what it is, but the connection, attraction and possessiveness from both characters being played out had me so engrossed in their love affair and it was so addictive reading their story. The secondary plot had so many twists and turns, and this was also a big part in me loving this story. Raoul in the beginning of this story was not to be messed with. I saw him going through so many changes while being consume with his infatuation with Evelyn. Evelyn was Evelyn for me. Her character definitely fed off Raoul’s to give us that interesting pull and tug between them.
I will say though, for me, there are some dark contents. It fell under the mild dark, but absolutely doesn’t belong in the sweet romance section either. Also, there were some scenes that I needed to know what happen, but by the way the book ended, it appears we might get more and not from the same characters Raoul and Evelyn.
SEXUAL CHEMISTRY:
I enjoyed their sex scenes. Very satisfying, especially when you are reading a connection like the one Raoul and Evelyn have. Their sex-capades didn't bore me at all.
SECONDARY CHARACTERS:
There were so many characters that brought this story to life, good or bad characters. It is what made the secondary plot so enticing. I don’t know if the author will make this into a series or how far she will go after this book, but there are so many interesting characters that I would want to see with their own story. My favorites were Sal, Rhett and VIOLETTA! Even Briella rubbed off on me. Also, I have to note, the family dinner at the Burlusconi home, Violetta stole those scenes. Mischief at its best.
OVERALL:
I really found myself enjoying this one, with the intense love affair, mixed in with the twists and turns, I was satisfied.
✰✰TRIGGERS: mention of rape, inappropriate under age touching from adult and violence.
****I don’t equate these stories to real life. It’s about personal taste and what you would or want to tolerate with the books you read. I know we all have different opinions and preferences with what we read. Enjoyable mafia romance

Rafe and Evelyn are childhood friends, but Rafe is being groomed to take over the mafia business. What happens when he makes the sacrifice to keep her away from the business in the hopes of giving her a chance at a traditional happiness, fulfill his obligations of the famiglia including his arranged marriage?
While I did not find the story the most original, it was entertaining with some welcome spice. A fast pace but comprehensive read with an alpha bad boy Rafe and likable Evelyn, I liked the rekindling of their in the angst of the limited time they had. Lots of juicy angst, a bit of kink, and secrets that change everything, the story also contained some suspense. Some appealing side characters, including the original Don, Rafe's father and all the secrets that contributed to a compelling plot as well as Rafe's brother, his betrothed, and Evelyn's friend.
If there were a couple of elements that I wasn't keen on -- time apart and Rafe's exertion of power. The often-played time apart, knowing the story will have a happy ending and the events that had transpired, it felt like an overly used and artificial tool. Additionally, how could this mafia boss not have stronger control of his future? Obviously everything worked out in the end, but I would have expected a boss with more darkness and power. Overall, though, an enjoyable read as a mafia romance with familiar elements and some nice spice.

Raoul is scheduled to take over the mob from his father, Raoul being the eldest son. Raoul knew this was going to be his life from an early age. The same could be said for him marring an Irish Mafia princess, Only he never wanted to be with her. The handful of times he has met with her, Raoul knows the price he is going to pay to be loyal.
Evelyn grew up with Raoul and his brother and sister Rhett, and Violette. Early on, Evelyn knew Raoul was the one she wanted. They talked about everything and spent as much time as they could together. One night changed that all and left Evelyn broken hearted. Now back in the same city, she has just ran into the one man who she can never seem to forget..
Creed did a good job of drawing the characters in this book out, cohesive and very much a part of the world that she created. Raoul was quick tempered, cold, and in an impossible world that his father ran. He was dominant, possessive, and a killer.
Evelyn was an artist, and at first the girlfriend of one of Raoul's enemies. She was bright, emotional, and jealous.
Where Creed lost me was towards the end. Evelyn's willingness to just go with the flow, and not question certain situations, lead readers to question all of her behavior. This could have been explored with a better conclusion, leaving the review at three stars.

Raoul has loved Evelyn from the first moment he saw her when she was seven years old, and Evelyn has always felt the same.
However, in order to keep her safe from the dark world he was born in to he sacrifices her and their love. Shattering both of their hearts in the process.
12 years later and their paths cross again. Raoul has never forgotten Evelyn the girl he gave his heart up to twelve years ago, and Evelyn has never forgotten the boy who left her behind and shattered her heart.
Raoul wants Evelyn heart, body and soul, but he can't have her. Evelyn can't help but crave the man who broke her heart but this time she won't be sacrificing her heart.
Their hearts may be destined but their lives are fated differently.
Can they find I way to be together? Or will they both be left broken hearted again?
My heart bled for these two particularly Raoul who had to sacrifice his heart in order to become the monster he needed to be in a life her never really wanted.
The connection they share is beautiful and their chemistry is H.O.T, as in can someone turn on the fan and find me some ice because good lord is it just me or has Emma Creed turned up the heat and made it hot in here?
The forbidden love journey they went on took me on an emotional rollercoaster ride. Not only was it heartbreaking, swoon worthy, heartwarming, and steamy, but it was riddled with some angst, twists and turns, and had just enough suspense and action to keep me on the edge of my seat with anticipation.
I absolutely looovvveeedddd this read which has easily joined my favourite reads for 2021 list.
And oh boy that carrot drop in the end..... I can't wait for that story.

Fast forward and Raoul is now ruthless- an unfeeling man- dead on the inside. A perfect man for the family business. Evelyn is getting by and dating another man- one who does NOT like Raoul. When fate brings them together again, the danger, steam and straight-up fireworks are incredible! Thee are many twists and turns in this story, and they keep you hanging on until the end! Highly recommend!

I absolutely loved this book and Raoul & Evelyn’s complicated story from childhood to adult! I’m seriously speechless and I don’t know what to say without giving away this story!! This story is not your typical romance, this one is darker.
There is so much history and so many years between Raoul & Evelyn and I’ll tell you what…with the way the author evokes every emotion through her descriptive writing, and the feelings she makes you feel, you can’t help but fall in love with them even when they’re breaking your heart! There are some twists and turns I did not see coming, and some moments of WTF is happening here!!
I would recommend this book to anyone that loves dark, mafia and turning pages quickly because this story makes you forget about everything else you should be doing!!

Let me start out by saying, this is not my go to genre to read in the slightest, but I trusted the author would keep it classy and she did.
The heat is turned right up in this book, and normally that would worry me as I read for the story not the heat. But with this you are given the best of both worlds.
Can the same be said for the two main characters or will finding a balance between mafia and "normal" be impossible?
I definitely recommend that you one click to find out.
Looking forward to seeing what the author is planning by that last chapter...

Raoul & Evelyn...Steaming hot pages that will burn your fingers and leave you begging for more. I loved reading their story! The connection was strong from the start and how this all opened up throughout the story was brilliant.
I loved the storyline and especially all of the characters, there’s definitely some good nuggets that you feel could be developed with each of them and leaves you excited to find out more.
With the twists and mystery that does leave you wondering will there be more within this world?

This book is a roller coaster of ride of emotions and it is a good quote about life its self. Now get ready for forbidden love and sacrificing that love...😭
Raoul & Evelyn love story is rooted in their past. Evelyn's family lived & work for Raoul's family. They both loved each other but never said out loud. My heart BROKE💔 for that young love...thank you Emma for ending my pain...no spoilers
Raoul is a dangerous killer & future boss to LA ! He has a good heart and he proves it a good few times in this book. I saved person I hope we get a update on because, one of Raoul's men went with them and she a hold a dangerous secret...no spoilers BUT Raoul will keep them safe & control the monster...no spoilers.
Evelyn I love her she is a strong independent women just bad taste in men. Especially when this man is a creep but, she is suffering from a broke heart so her standards are low. She is a independent photographer and she trying to grow her business. AND I love that we learn about her creative eye that link to very well. As a photographer myself you search for the beauty & capture it and share it to the world.
Evelyn did something towards the end of the book I knew deep down she could do it...no spoilers and I hope we get to see that again in the future or can she do it again.
Raoul towards the end too finally achieved his happy ending by...no spoilers BUT I want to know what's he going to do with that monster

Evelyn I love her she is a strong independent women just bad taste in men. Especially when this man is a creep but, she is suffering from a broke heart so her standards are low. She is a independent photographer and she trying to grow her business. AND I love that we learn about her creative eye that link to very well. As a photographer myself you search for the beauty & capture it and share it to the world.
Evelyn did something towards the end of the book I knew deep down she could do it...no spoilers and I hope we get to see that again in the future or can she do it again.
Raoul towards the end too finally achieved his happy ending by...no spoilers BUT I want to know what's he going to do with that monster

Talk about angst!! Holy hell. I think Briella, who was the woman Raoul was arranged to marry, was the smartest character in the story. I swear I wanted to throat punch Raoul and shake sense into Evelyn throughout the entire book.
At first I was hesitant to continue the book once I realized Raoul was supposed to marry another woman and knowing he was so in love with Evelyn. I hate love triangles, and don’t enjoy the intense ow drama that continues throughout a book. But I’m so glad I didn’t quit because it was nothing like I was expecting. I hated the fact that Raoul wouldn’t stand up to his dad and put Evelyn first. And I found it incredibly selfish when he asked her to be his UNTIL he married Briella! I was like WTF! And I was speechless when she accepted- although it wouldn’t have been as good a story if she didn’t. But still seeing him actually have every intention on fulfilling his duty to his family and marry Briella made my stomach hurt. He was actually going to do it and I hated that.
My favorite part of the story came when Evelyn finally confessed everything to him and threw his words in his face about how he’d do anything for her- anything except call off the wedding and then the next day she used her safe word and walked. That moment for me was the best because it was the wake up call Raoul needed. It shouldn’t have taken that, but I was relieved finally that he was willing to fight for them.

Well if you love mafia books then you need to check out His Sacrifice. So we have Raoul who is being trained to become the head of the Burlusconi family. It is not an easy journey and he knows that. He also knows that he will have an arranged marriage and that is something he does not want. Why? There is only one woman who he wants and he has to make a sacrifice for his family. We see what he deals with when it comes to his father. You can tell he despises his father. No surprise there. However, you do need to pay attention to the story. So lets meet Evelyn the one woman who he can't have. Well she is a sweet heart even though she did not have it that easy after he left. She grew up and she is very dependent. So when these two meet again, it gets intense. All those feelings come rushing back. He decides he just needs one night with her. When he finds out about what her boyfriend did, he goes all alpha male. It was hot. Then it heats up more when he asks for a safe word. I was like oh man this is going to get really hot and it does. No joke. It does not get hardcore though which is good. Because he realizes that it is not about the release for him, it is all about her and how he makes her feel. It is amazing how much these to help each other see things they did not see before. They have moments that seem fleeting however, can he do anything to change things for him. Can these two get a happily ever after. Read this book to find out. You will enjoy it.

I absolutely love this author’s MC series and now know she is brilliant at writing mafia stories too. Honestly, I think she could turn her hand at writing anything she wanted to, she is that good.
Raoul is such an interesting character, so loyal and supportive of his family, yet he knows what it takes to rule as the head of the mafia, his father has been grooming him since he was a young child, so now he is ready to take over. He is prepared to accept an arranged marriage and sacrifice his true love, Evelyn. I admired Raoul, even I though I thought he was misguided at times. He is a strong, powerful man and one capable of love even though I believe he didn’t think he really was capable of it.
Evelyn truly is a sweetheart and I love her sassy mouth, she has a fun side that occasionally gets her into trouble. Unfortunately, she is the one that suffers but with her inner strength moves on. I love that strong backbone of hers. Knowing how fantastic her and Raoul are together but that it can never be, is heartbreaking, I don’t know how she did it.

Emma creed you just keep blowing my mind. This book was totally different from the MC series and I just love it.

As a teenager, Raoul has to make a sacrifice, he loves Evelyn, but it is a love that is doomed because he, as the son of a Mafia boss, will have to enter in a strategic marriage. Thats why he leaves her. Twelve years later they meet again in a nightclub, he is not married yet and she is in a relationship. A lot happens, things are not as they seem, and in the midst of all these events, Raoul persuades Evelyn to enter into a temporary relationship with him, until his marriage. The question is whether they will soon be able to let each other go, the ultimate sacrifice. The storyline itself is interesting, although there are also things that make me wonder why they are mentioned. By the end, everything comes together and you understand the context. I found the ending surprising and good, this is a well-rounded story, but it is becoming clear that there is a series to come. The only thing I don;t like is the writing style. It did not appeal to me, characters didnt come to life for me, very one-dimensional described. There were also so many steamy scenes in it that I started to find it boring

Evelyn's life goes off the rails a little bit as a result of decisions her mother makes while she is still underage. Twelve years later and they are grown up and back in the same town again. Raoul's father has arranged for him to marry the daughter of an ally to help the family and is receiving pressure to get engaged to the girl. Evelyn has found herself in a relationship with someone who works for Raoul's family but is making moves against them. When the two reconnect things are explosive and they agree to a temporary arrangement until Raoul has to commit to his marriage. Lots of steam, some light power exchange, action and a huge twist at the end that keeps the reader engaged from start to finish.

His sacrifice was a perfect mafia romance book for me. I loved everything about it from its pace to the incredible intimate moments (so hot!!!), from heart-wrecking past and current traumas to just the right amount of twists and deceits. Everything about the story was so tasteful including the light BDSM scenes and no detail was over the top or out of place. The surprise at the end was also incredibly well thought out that I really did not see it coming and that rarely happens anymore. Both the hero and the heroine were very likable from the beginning, at least in my opinion, especially their childhood memories gave me all the fuzzy feelings that I live for. I finished His Sacrifice in one sitting, staying up until 04:00 am not being able to put it down so I would like to thank Emma Creed for blessing us with this page-turner of a heartwarming romance and now I am looking forward to her new book (hopefully) that might involve “Prizrak/the ghost.”

I wasn’t ready for this sacrifice!
So... normally I'm not one for mafia reads, but I will have to add an amendment for this one. Holy WOW, what a Rollercoaster! I believe it was well worth the sacrifice to my rule!

This is yet another fabulous book by the talented Emma Creed! I had high expectations of this story, and it surpassed all of them.
This story is filled with so much angst, sacrifice, hopelessness, steam, suspense and pure love. I felt it all! I cried a few times at how hopeless the situation was. I felt as though I was in the story, not just being told it. That’s how good Emma is!

I started this and then stopped a few chapters in. Raoul really bothered me in the beginning. He was such a jerk to Evelyn. I get nervous when reading books from authors that are new to me. When the guy is like our MC here I am afraid I am going to read about cheating. So I gave up for a week or so. But, I signed up for the ARC and wanted to follow through so I started reading it again. After about the first 6-7 chapters I really loved the book. I also ended up really liking Raoul. He loves Evelyn so much. I really liked Evelyn too. She was a lot stronger than she thinks she is and really is resilient. There was more drama than I usually read but it was entertaining and kept me reading. So, if you are like me and don't care for the story in the beginning, keep going. It is worth it!

I admit that this started a little slow for me, but I am so glad I kept with it. It is so much more than a "I want you but cant have you" mafia/arranged marriage story. Emma builds plot, and twists and suspense so wonderfully, I was disappointed when it ended.
Raoul and Evelyn are long time friends, but life happens and they go down separate paths only to be reunited years later. These two characters are so well developed, and their story is heartbreaking, but in the best way.
I hope this is not the last we see of these two and the surrounding characters. There are loose ends that could just fade away if Emma doesnt write more but i'm hoping they are an open door to later stories. This is a must read.

Yes, yes, yes, a 100 times yes. This is such an amazing story , I was literally hooked from the very first page .
Raoul and Evelyn 's story will have you feeling , EVERYTHING.
Raoul, born to a life where being in ' a family ' holds a lot more responsibility than most . Being weak is not an option, but does love make you weak ?

OMG, what a fabulous read, I was riveted from the very first page! Raoul and Evelyn were in love as teens but his family responsibilities meant he had to sacrifice their relationship to become a ruthless killer in order to take over as leader of his crime family. A chance meeting opens up old feelings and WOW! What an amazing, well written story with a plethora of twists and turns and some pretty RED hot steamy scenes that just sizzle. A captivating and enthralling storyline that just keeps the pages turning.
A truly fabulous second chance dark Mafia romance that is highly recommended. A well deserved 5 stars!

Emma Creed can write one steamy, intense, gut wrenching book. His Sacrifice is the crazy story of Raoul and Evelyn. They have loved each other since childhood. Unfortunately duty to family mucks everything up. This dark story will certainly not appeal to everyone but if you like dark mafia you must read this book. I sat and read beginning to end; I kept telling myself just one more chapter until way to late into the night.
Beware of the emotions this story will put you through. And there were times when I found myself yelling at the characters, hoping they would make the choices that they ultimately did. The title His Sacrifice is perfect for this story and I highly recommend it.
