Where to begin? The story and plot twists had me up reading it all night! Perfect mixture of humor, fantasy, and adventure! Flinch has to be my favorite character! Isabella, you are a marvel and would love to read more of your books! ❤
A highly imaginative, wonderfully written, and engaging fantasy tale. The reader should be prepared to be transported into another world. Isabella Steel’s, “False Dragons,” is an intricately designed tale of mythological beings, magical creatures, and epic adventures. This book is a must-read for any fans of The Hobbit, The Inheritance series, or just episodic fantasy in general.
Fueled by jealousy, narcissism, and an unquenchable thirst for power, the evil wizard, Daniel of the Dark Wood, betrays the wizards of the Silver Order. He unleashes a dark magic that creates chaos and destruction across the magical lands. Denrael and Aqua (a young apprentice) are the last surviving members of the Silver Order. They put together a team of Delphen warriors, pixies, and other magical folks to send them on a quest that will ultimately lead to the defeat of the dragons. The only hope for peace is for these creatures to put aside their age-old differences, and work together as a unit.
Ms. Steele creates an incredibly immersive world for each race of his characters. The story is extremely engaging. I found myself getting annoyed when I had to stop reading to snap back into my real-world duties. It is easy to feel connected with characters that are so well developed. As a reader, I felt sympathy and heartbreak for the decisions the characters had to make. I found myself rooting for heroes and heroines. Most importantly, I found myself feeling nothing but animosity for Daniel of the Dark Wood, an irredeemable, despicable, and selfish villain whose betrayal usurped and destroyed the lives of those who trusted him.
I highly recommend this book. However, I will caution that you shouldn’t start to read it unless you have time to devote to it. It is an easy book to get lost in.
Isabella Steel creates an epic much like some of the best authors of our time. Strong characters lead you into a world of struggle against an apocalypse. I found myself drawn into the story with each page turned. I loved it.
From peace to the 1000 year curse – Wizard Denrael fights to rid the curse and restore peace.
The wizards of the Silver Order had maintained peace for millennia, but never could they have imagined the curse that would come down on them. Daniel of the Darkwood felt that he should be the head of the Silver Order, and when that did not happen, he unleashed a thousand-year curse on the world. The chaos and havoc that happened were untold. Unfortunately for Daniel and his unwitting council members, it also transformed them into dragons.
Denrael and a young apprentice are the only survivors of the Silver Order, struggling to work with the Delphens, Griffin Corp, and other magical folks to defend their world against the dragons and restore peace once again. The question is, “can they set aside their differences” in the goal for once again living in peace and harmony? The story begins.
Join Denrael in his struggle to overcome the dragon, Daniel, in his goal of setting his world right again…
What did I like? Initially, I was hesitant, which lasted about three pages, then I was glued to this book. I fell in love with the characters and had immediate hate for Daniel. My love for fairies and mermaids goes back for many years, well I guess you could say back to when my granddaughter was little, and nothing has changed over the years. Isabella has taken the magical world by storm with this book and me along with them.
What will you like? To say that is book is exciting is a gross understatement! In fact, I don’t think there is a word that would, in truth, explain how much action goes on here! Her characters are a work of art, exciting and intriguing, and the storyline is a masterpiece. It has depth and mystery with every page you turn; it is smooth and well written. Capture is another word that does not precisely fit what will happen to you as you involve yourself in the book, but don’t despair because it will happen before you know it! Isabella Steel’s “False Dragons” is available NOW!!! Don’t miss adding it to your library.
False Dragons is a story of fantasy and adventure written by Isabella Steel. This book includes magical creatures who come together to defeat an evil wizard who is looking to destroy the world. Creatures who have held wars with one another would rather work side by side than see the wizard succeed.
In the book, the author brings the characters to life. She makes the reader want to know if Denrael and his group of warriors are capable of stopping the evil plots taking place. Steel also keeps the reader guessing what will happen next as the story unfolds. The battle between good and evil is intense and has twists and turns along the way.
I believe older youth and adults would enjoy reading this book. Some of the fantasy aspect may be harder for younger youth to understand. Readers who are into fantasy and adventure stories will find this book to be intriguing and worth reading.
I enjoyed how descriptive the book is. I feel like I could picture how the wizards, merfolk, pixies, and all the creatures would look based on how the author decided to describe them all. I really enjoy when I am able to create a visual in my mind while reading a story. The characters are well-developed. I particularly found Denrael to be a strong and admirable character. He was ready to protect and fight, but also able to respect all those he came in contact with. The plot twists kept me wanting to read more and find out what would take place next. I found all the different mythical creatures to be entertaining. I liked the pixies the most. They had a delightful personality and I could relate to them the most. I liked how the author brought all of the creatures together to fight evil and save the world they all know and love. I couldn’t find anything to dislike about this book.
I rated this book 5 out of 5 stars. I enjoyed every aspect of the book. It appears to be professionally edited and error free. The story is magical and adventurous. It is well-written and kept my attention from start to finish. Overall, this was an excellent story and I would recommend it to others.
False Dragons by Isabella Steel This book starts out with dedication page and then praise for author's works. Like hearing about the legends and how they are told from generation onward. I find there are quite a few characters in the story line with so many species of fairy beings. Am familiar with a handful of them but theis is a wide spectrum of them. Good story to learn about them all and their personal attributes. Like hearing of the quest/challenge they undertake and how they are able to overcome obstacles. They have a lot of power others do not have, magic, spells. They are fighters and use their heads when it comes to strategic moves. They must stay away from the dragons at all costs. I do see a few referenes to other fairy tales and like how they are hidden. Kind of reminds me of an online game I used to play: you got the quest you went about to collect clues and stayed away from the bad guys. Used magic and spells when you had to move on through the quest. Love library best as it holds many secrets and clues for the others who spend time there. Conlficts and teaming up with others to present a stronger force. If this was made into a movie I know I'd really enjoy it a lot more. Good story.
Denrael is head of the Silver Order and has done an amazing job of keeping the peace throughout the lands. He knows something is coming. He isn't sure what but it won't be easy to defeat. Denrael must bring together the inhabitants of the land to fight for their homes. The next thing is can they all put aside any differences to help keep their homes from being destroyed? You are going to have such an adventure with this book! Ms. Steel knows just how to craft a story to keep you wondering what will be next. I must admit, I'm not usually a fan of wizardry, magic or fantasy. I LOVED this book. It's characters are so well defined you can picture them in your mind easily. The writing of this book is some of the best I've read. I couldn't stop turning pages! I was enjoying this book so much I read it 4 times! Each time I picked up a bit more than I did the last time I read it. I wanted to jump in and join these beings! Be ready for the trip of a lifetime when you open this book ( and clear your schedule! Trust me, if you don't you'll wish you had.)
I didn't find any issues.
I gave this one 5 cheers out of 5 because this is one I'll read again...and again...etc. The author provided a copy of the book but I chose to review it.
I love fantasy and Isabella has a stunning imagination for a world and intelligent life forms so different from ours. She did not let me down. Her epic story is intertwined with conflicts, conquests, rivalries, and heartfelt friendships. Many of her characters: fairies, wizards, mermaids, pixies, and dragons I am familiar with, although she ingeniously expands on their lives, but she created so many more interesting characters, including false dragons. As in the Lord Of The Rings, the various characters have fascinating personalities and various powers to defeat their enemies and save the world. It is a tale that readers of all ages can enjoy. She provides a detailed landscape of beauty and adventure which had me reading slowly; I needed to capture all its wonders in my mind’s eye.
This book would be a good introduction to high fantasy for teen to young adult audiences. It has a feel to it that reminds me a bit of early levels for world of War craft, complete with quests, various species of people, magic, and of course, Dragons! Now, the biggest things that are keeping that fifth star pulled are the lack of scene breaks when it shifts to other character perspectives, and there is a noticeable confusion in story timeline in the early events. Regardless, this is a very light-hearted fantasy, and should do well to attract new readers to the fantasy genre.
