I really enjoyed this two novella book--it was very fast paced with no boring bits, and pretty darn hot to boot! The two stories were closely related, so it was more like reading one continuous story, which I liked.
The first story, "His Bare Obsession", is about a sexy 24 year old health club owner named Moira Madigan. Moira and her best friend and roommate Cass are on their way to make a night deposit at the bank when they hear a noise coming from a dark alley. They go to investigate, see a beaten and bloody woman on the ground and are confronted by a masked man. Moira tells Cass to run and get help, and feeling a little overconfident in her ability to defend herself, decides to try to fend off the psycho. Moira does an admirable job but eventually the madman gets her on the ground. Just as he's ready to finish her off, help comes running in the form of Detectives Gil Daniels and Ben Marcum. The psycho flees, but not before he grabs Moira's gym bag, complete with all her personal identification.
After Moira receives medical attention, the detectives escort her and Cass home, and it's obvious that Moira and Gil share an intense attraction. When Gil realizes that the criminal who stole Moira's bag and raped and killed the woman in the alley is the same serial rapist who has been terrorizing the women of the town, he decides that Moira needs 'round the clock protection. Since she refuses to move or live with her estranged father, he offers to move into her apartment (for her protection, of course) until the rapist is caught. Making it more convenient is the fact that Cass is returning home to be with her very sick mother, leaving Gil and Moira alone in the apartment.
Well, it doesn't take long before these two know what they want--each other! The 6'3", dark haired, blue-eyed former Marine hunk is about the sexiest thing Moira's ever seen, and blonde, buxom Moira sends Gil's senses realing. Moira and Gil hit the sheets, spend a hot night together ridding Moira of her virginity, and the next day, they're in love and want to be together forever. But do they really know each other? There's a few minor dust ups along the way as they get to know each other's quirks and personalities, and Moira resisting Gil's overprotectiveness when it comes to her safety, resulting in a few 'almost' TSTL moments.
There are some comical moments too, involving Moira meeting Gil's mother, sister and brothers, who all at one time or another happen to catch Moira nude or hear her making love with Gil.
Along the way, Gil and Moira find out if they are really right for each other, and Gil helps set Moira straight about the Marine father she blames for abandoning her during her miserable and heartbreaking childhood. Eventually it all comes down to a harrowing face-off with the rapist, and a surprising person saves the day.
In "Bare Confessions", the story continues with Gil's little sister Katie and his best friend and partner Detective Ben Marcum. Katie has moved to town to accept a job and start her teaching career, but before she works one day, the offer is rescinded. She decides to stay in town and work at Moira's health club, leading group therapy sessions. Katie has a few secrets and she thinks talking about them with other women will help them and help her too.
Ben has always liked Katie, but being ten years older than her he always thought of her as a little sister. But now she's all grown up and looking irresistible to him. He would like to get to know her better, but what would his partner (and Katie's big brother) Gil think of that? Ben's got secrets of his own--is Katie the type of woman who can handle those secrets?
Well, Katie's got her eye on blond hunky Ben too. Since being in town she's gotten to know him a little better, and she can tell that there's some serious chemistry going on. But it looks like it will be up to her to take the next step, and she makes her best moves on him. Ben puts up a bit of resistance when he learns she's a virgin, but once she disrobes in front of him, it's all over. Hot and heavy lovemaking ensues, and it's not long before these two admit to each other that they may be falling in love. But since neither have been in love before, they're unsure if it's really love or maybe lust. How to tell the difference?
A pregnancy scare, secrets about the past revealed, a brush with death for the heroine, a family reunited, comical moments with Katie's family hearing their lovemaking, and lots of passionate, erotic sex between Katie and Ben make up the rest of the story. Ben and Katie open their hearts and reveal all to each other, and find out if they want to spend the rest of their lives together.
I loved these two stories. Both were quick reads with good plots, some intense moments, and lots of erotic moments between the H/H. I loved the introduction of Gil's family--there's lots of potential stories with his brothers Griff and Doug and even his attractive mother. While I liked the first story between Gil and Moira which was more a romantic suspense, I may have liked the second story between Ben and Katie, which was a straight romance, a little better. Sensitive readers beware: there's some graphic language, light BDSM including spanking, sex toys, and oral and anal sex. I will definitely seek out more from this author. Very hot book--4 1/2 stars.

This book was just okay for me. It seemed that the writer wrote some hot sex scenes and tried to fit a story in between. IMO she could have written full stories and developed the characters better.
