That awkward moment when you realize you’re responsible for your high school’s clown apocalypse. Abbey isn’t ordinary, not even close. Ghosts are drawn to her like she’s some sort of a spook magnet—but it’s not as glamorous as it sounds. Dead people suck and have cost her many close friends. Yet it gets worse. Something bad followed Abbey home from the circus. And now dead clowns are at her new high school, and friends have gone missing. Her unique abilities could help, but they also could be the reason for the clown apocalypse. Surviving high school just got tougher.
What an exciting series is this, featuring a champion young heroine with stamina and determination. Fourteen-year-old Abbey never backs down, not in the face of criticism, mockery, or very real and present life-threatening danger. First appearing in the Summer Camp scares of ABNORMALLY ABBEY, this smart, skilled, and snarky young lady is now installed at a new school....a high school on the verge of being invaded by the Clown Apocalypse!
All her life, Abbey has been "a spook magnet," and while many ghosts are amenable or simply confused or not strong enough to reach the plane of the living, there are other spirits both angry and vengeful--even demonic. Abbey is ready to stand up to them all, but the source of the Clown Apocalypse may be too powerful even for her willpower and determination.
I was provided an ARC by the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
Abbey is back! And this time, ghost clowns are hunting her school. It is up to her to find out why and stop more of her friends going missing.
After thoroughly enjoying Abnormally Abbey, I was excited to get into another adventure with her. However, I found myself thinking more about her camp friends from the first book, and less about the characters I was meeting in her high school. For the first half of the book, I kept waiting to hear about them, especially Turner, since I assumed he would be Abbey's love interest. Afterwards, I started to care more about her new friends, I feel like the author doesn't give enough attention to the side characters, and for me, those are always some of the best, they really bring something more to the novel. I was quite happy when Turner showed up towards the end of the book!
Another things I found different with this book then the first, was that Abbey was way more forthcoming with her ghost abilities and I felt like the ghosts themselves were showing themselves to other people. Now, I realize once finishing the book, that maybe all wasn't as it seems with the ghosts, but I still couldn't believe how many people she told. Also, that they just accepted it, no one was skeptical or thought she was crazy, and that part was a little weird to me.
Overall, I quite enjoy reading about Abbey and her ghost adventures! I wish more attention and details were given to the other characters but that does not deter me in wanting to read another one! If you enjoy ghosts with a splash of teenage drama, I would definitely recommend this book!

***
Creepy clowns are my favorite. Murdery ones, yes! I was certainly interested when the evil ghost clowns started showing up.
There is a good deal of violence. So, be aware!
I liked the main character's journey to fit in/make friends being intertwined with ghosts o' plenty. Though, there are several ghost experiences with randoms that sort of take you away from the clown issue. I did find myself wondering if we'd moved on to other things as I was hearing the 1/2 point of the book.
There is definitely a secondary storyline running through the book, but the stuff near the middle was distracting.
However, when things got back in track, the story moved along at a quick pace and was quite interesting. Overall, this was an enjoyable and interesting world.

When I picked this book up I didn’t know that it was a in a series, called the ghost girl series, and was in fact book number two. The writing in class clown was super smooth and flowing. I didn’t for once feel like I was lost or missing something so I don’t feel it was detrimental to have read them out of order. Maybe the confidence she seems to struggle with as a young adult would have been explained more in book one ?! To me she seemed fearless and brave throughout, never afraid to stand up to any obstacles. Class clown is a young adult horror type novel where a clown has attached himself to her from a circus she attended, she did say she was a spook magnet, right, and he begins haunting her high school along with a host of other clowns. It was engaging and really had me burning the midnight oil to finish. I’m definitely interested in picking up book number one, or really anything from this author. If these types of books are your thing I recommend giving this one a try.
Class Clown (Ghost Girl Series) by Allan Evans. This is such a good read. Its the young adult creepy clown read. Abbey went to the circus with her parents and ever since she has the ability to see and talk to dead clowns. All over her high school she sees and talks to clowns all day. Students start disappearing and Abbey knows the clowns have something to do with it. Abbey has just started this new school and hates that this is happening. She is going to do everything she can to figure out what is going on and why these people start disappearing. This read is a fast paced, turning pages late into the night and you will want to make sure you read it with the lights on. Mystery, intrigue, ghosts and young adult problems added to it make for a great read.
This was an interesting read! I enjoyed the premise of the story, and the plot, whoever I had a bit of a time getting into it. I'm pretty sure it was just an off reading day, but I had trouble getting into the story and connecting with the characters. I enjoyed it and it was a really interesting story, I just couldn't get into it. The story was entertaining, and the characters were very interesting. It was unique in a way I haven't read before, especially with clowns. Very interesting. I would love to read this again one day just to make sure but I really think it was just an off reading day!
I really liked the continuation of Abbey’s story. She is a great character that is dealing with teen stuff and ghost stuff. This book is a fast-paced, young adult scary book complete with great sarcasm and a clown-apocalypse. What more do you need?!?
I do wish there was more time spent on developing the supporting cast. They don’t seem fully developed for maybe just a victim of the length of the book. Also… the 80s references were fun but I would have preferred them as a subtle gem for older readers as opposed to overt in your face references.
Would have given 3.5 stars (if I could)
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Demons, I get. People are crazy. - Dean Winchester
not me voluntarily reading a book about clowns while being terrified of them
I quite enjoyed this fast paced, scary at night, story. Wished for a little more slasher and overall it’s just missing something for me, maybe because the characters relationships lacked depth and everyone accepted what’s happening so easily without doubting, therefore everything played out very conveniently? idk have to admit tho, demonic possessions were right out of my nightmares also liked the songs references, although I didn’t need to be reminded every damn time that they are INDEED the 80’s hits

First off I'll have to say I hate clowns. I think that they are creepy and most definitely belong in a horror novel. That being said, this book was marvelous. Horror stories have always been one of my go to genres, and this one proved that even young adult ghost stories can make me jump. The characters were likeable, the plot unique. Scary clowns, spooky ghosts, and a read that can't be put down. Bravo :) can't wait to read more
I’m not sure what caused me to pick this book because not only is the cover art creepy, I knew the story included clowns, and not just happy clowns but scary clowns. I’m definitely a person who can clearly say scary, creepy clowns are not my forte but the reviews associated with this book are incredible and I cannot pass up an incredible story.
Abbey is the main character, a teenager, student who has enrolled in a new school, but before the first day arrives, her father, a journalist, asks the family to join him by visiting the visiting circus as he gathers intel for his next big story on the history of clowns. As a typical teenager, Abbey wanted to pass on joining any family function if it included visiting the circus of all places, but she ultimately chose to go along. While there, she watches the entertainment, then roams around behind the scenes. When she comes across a crowd of clowns chatting about someone, out walks Rellik, the creepiest, scariest clown she had ever seen. When he looked into her eyes, as he walked by, fear riddled her body and she could feel goosebumps on her arms. Little did she know, her future would hold a lot more clowns and danger.
I wasn’t sure if I would be able to get through this book and believe me there were times, I thought the creepy factor was going to get to me, but the book is so good and so well written. I loved the way Abbey constantly thought of specific 80’s songs throughout the story which made the book have a bit of a soundtrack, which was unexpected. She often felt older than your typical teenager, seeing as how she handled her special “gift” and the drama that came with it.
The author did a great job making the villain someone you could feel disdain for and hope he would have a strike of bad luck.
I loved how Abbey started to learn about teamwork and the love that you can enjoy by joining a team, a sisterhood of her fellow soccer players. They go through a lot while dealing with clowns invading the school and the disappearance of a few friends but in the end, I think the entire situation brings them all closer together.
I enjoyed this story, even with the creepy clowns and look forward to reading more from the author. This was very well written, easy to read and follow along and kept me intrigued and on edge from the very beginning.
This was a fun read! I really liked the character building of Abbey throughout the novel and how things she learned helped her grow as a person and ghost whisperer. There wasn't much that I could find to complain about, just a few details such as fake blood is very easy to find and you can't go back and look at a Snap you've sent on Snapchat. Also I don't know if this is right but I thought circus' ran kind of like fairs, so some of the description later in the book threw me off. Also, don't all circus' have clowns? At one point there's a line that insinuates only the Surini Brothers Circus has clowns.
The main things that took me out of the story was the constant referencing of 80's music (even though I did find it's fun to pull up Spotify and play them as you're reading) and the fact that Abbey was 14. Sometimes it just didn't feel appropriate to have an aside where there was music references, and some of the stuff she did doesn't seem in line with a 14 year old's maturity, no matter how much she's been through. Actually, for a good chunk I forgot she was 14 and was thinking she was 16, which for some reason made more sense to me.
There was a lot I enjoyed too, though! Some lines were hilarious. For example: "The hairs on the back of my neck jumped up and waved their little hands to get my attention." "Dear today, I wasn't born with enough middle fingers to properly tell you how I feel about you." "I was moving a little slower than normal, though. Okay, more like a sloth on valium."
Overall, I really want there to be a sequel to this, or maybe a prequel where we learn more about what happened at camp with Turner. I want to learn more about Abbey's adventures with ghosts!
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review through BookSirens. Thank you!
Class Clown (Ghost Girl Series) by Allan Evans - Review by Jessica Stone
Going into this book I was completely blind to the previous happenings in book 1 of the series “Abnormally Abbey” and to be honest I was terrified that I would have no idea what was going on, that was 100% not what happened. To say I was pleasantly surprised with this book, is an understatement. I immediately fell in love with Abbey this quirky, cute, 80’s loving, albeit “a little old for her age” girl with a wonderful sense of humor. This book lacks nothing as far as capturing you and dragging you into a story about life, growing up, navigating the hardship of high school and …clowns.
A captivating story of a 14 year old girl, just trying to make friends at a new school and fit in, while juggling an ability to see things that nobody else can, the dead... Abbey has just transferred to a new school and after a exciting summer spent at camp, Abbey; ready to take on a new school year, joins the soccer team and finally make some friends, hoping for ones she can keep. Unfortunately, life doesn’t always give you what you want, after a trip to the circus with her family Abbey starts seeing clowns all around her new school, what’s even worse now her new friends are starting to disappear.
I could not recommend this book enough, the supernatural twists and turns kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time, while the lighthearted interactions between characters gave me everything I needed from this book. Hoping we see much more from this promising author Allan Evans and our spook magnet Abbey.
Class Clown, Ghost Girl Series, Allan Evans, Review, Itsy Bitsy Book Bits, YA, Paranormal, Jessica Stone, March 2022
They say that you can catch more flies with honey, than vinegar. For Abnormally Abbey, it seems that no matter what she does or says, she attracts ghosts. Dead people just flock to to her whether she wants them to or not. In this case, she probably would have rathered they just stayed away. Clowns are not many people’s cup of tea. And when the clowns also start stealing away her new friends, then they really become more than just a thorn in Abbey’s side. It is up to her, and a rally of what’s left of her friends, to put a stop to the dark menagerie of clowns, before things get completely worse. This was an easy and somewhat quick book to read. It surprised me/made me think in several ways. First, when I started reading this book, I got the sense that this book could be more geared toward middle-grade readers. But by the time I reached the middle of the story I kind of had to reassess how I would categorize this book. I still felt that it was a better fit, wordage and reading wise, for middle-grade readers. Though, I also thought that it could possibly spill over the edge and be a teen read. I thought that, Abbey, the main protagonist was highly opinionated and well traveled. She kind of reminded me of a more well mannered and better educated Pippi Longstocking. (If Pippi Longstocking could also see ghosts). Actually, there was something about her character that was a little off putting to me. Perhaps it was her bold personality, or her sarcastic attitude; I’m not completely sure what though. I will say, though, that this is the type of fun character that older school aged children (older children, preteens, really early teens) may look up to. They would find her adventures and self independent/reliant traits inspiring and really cool. Another aspect of the story that made me wonder was how quickly her friends accepted her little quirk. I would have expected the girls on her soccer team to humor her at best, and out right use her difference against her at worst. Being part of the team or not, (great depiction of team mentality, by the way) she was still the new girl to the school, so I would have expected at least one (Kelly) to question her sanity. Or use this information against her. At least at the start. Or for Lexi to not believe what she saw, even if she knew someone else saw it too. Over all, I would say a good book. I would grade it as being average, as it had missed some crucial points to being anywhere near perfect. One such point being the scare factor. The scare factor being one of if not the most important factor in a horror story. It is the aspect of a the storyline or plot that has readers up at night or giving them nightmares. It is the facet of the story that has the reader on the edge of their seat and their blood pumping through their veins. For some readers, clowns are really scary. And this book does a pretty good job of defining why clowns seem so scary to people. For me though, I really didn’t think it was at that level. Yes, evil ghost clowns carrying butcher knives and taking people away is scary. But I didn’t find it out right frightening. I would, instead, rate it at an appropriate level of scary for children and young teens and anyone who is afraid of clowns. But for others, it may be between mild and moderately scary.
3.5 Stars. First, I would like to thank Allan Evans for allowing me to read his book & for the great love of 80's music you know my Jam… Also, to BookSirens for having such a great site to explore New/Known authors of all kinds of genre. Thank you to all the staff for your hard work and great varieties… Now on to the review. I'm going to warn anyone who does not like clowns, are scared of clowns or has a phobia of clowns this book is not for you at all, run do not look at the name or read… this book will give you I peed my pants scare… I loved the storyline in this book and the ghost aspect of it was on point. However, I felt that in some parts it was all over the place, in other parts it missed the mark on explaining why something was happening, like a spirit taking over bodies (motel part). I enjoyed the friendships but not going to lie the scary clown parts that makes me most definitely not want to go to a circus. The only thing I could not understand is that besides Abbey seeing ghost her friends could too, I know it must have been part of her gift, but I felt kind of like it took away from the story a little, I mean I felt like it should have only been her seeing them not everyone else. I Loved the ending of this book there was a great quote and heartfelt beauty. Overall recommend to 16 yrs. and up, some swearing, killer clown, violent parts, kidnapping, and lots of Clown Ghost, with other ghosts in the story. If you like creepy clowns, friends, family and love this you will enjoy……... Gina Clabo
Abbey is in high school and is about to start a new year and with that all the challenges that brings, but what she didn’t expect is that she would be dragged to the circus and that it would start off a whole chain of events which are going to make high school even harder.
It all starts with a visit to the circus with her parents a couple of days before the start of the school year, which she enjoys as much as a teenager can, but when she turns a corner at school one day and come face to face with a clown, she is more than just confused, she is annoyed. Abbey isn’t like any other teenager, she is a ghost magnet and this clown ghost is no exception, she has always seen them and always tries to help, even if the consequences aren’t worth it, losing friends and alienation being the two easiest to deal with.
As the days progress and Abbey is just trying to deal with life in general, the dead clowns just keep popping up to distract her, clowns of all shapes, sizes and some which are just downright scary, but when two of her new friends go missing, Abbey has to use her skills to find out just who or what is behind it all, but will she be able to find them before it is too late and this clown apocalypse turns deadly? This is a paranormal adventure full of spirit, mysteries and lots of clowns which keeps you guessing throughout as you try and figure out the who, what, where and why before the end.
I now understand why there were a few people that I know that read this book that refused to read it at night. I was one of them, and furthermore, had to make sure that my partner was at home at night rather than at work before I read this fingernail bite inducing novel. The way that the author really digs deep into developing Abbey’s personality and thoughts is incredible, and you do feel as though you, the reader, are inside her head without a doubt. Despite the fear and terror that is pulled from these pages, there is also a lot of happiness in the connections, friendships and her relationship with her family, that bring the story all together. In some spots, it felt like I was reading an episode of ‘Supernatural,’ and it pulled me in even more.
Walking on Sunshine is one of my favourite songs of all time, not just from the 80’s, so I know this author has some great tastes to include the musical encouragement for the characters throughout the novel. I did, however, find that this novel felt to be a bit long-winded, though understandably so in order to really get the reader on the edge of her seat, it just was a bit much for me. I fully intend to read Abnormally Abbey as soon as I have the time and look forward to learning more about her and her backstory. Overall, a fantastic read, and I would recommend to anyone looking to have the hair on the back of their neck stand up, well done!
When I was younger, I was scared of clowns. I figured as an adult, that fear dissipated. I guessed wrong and this book scared me. I started reading it one night and literally had to stop and continue the next day when the sun was out. It seems as if a lot of people are afraid of clowns and this book digs deep into the stereotypical fear of clowns and turns it into something more sinister. My heart pounded in my chest hard during most of the reading of this book.
You follow a 14 year old girl named Abbey. Abbey is different from other teenagers. She can see and interact with spirits. She starts at a new school thinking her life will be different. A couple days before her new school year starts, her family attends a circus. After that evening, Abbey starts seeing clowns everywhere. She thinks something has followed her home from the circus. On top of all that, a couple of her friends go missing and all signs point to the clown ghosts. Abbey tries to figure out what is going on while trying to find her friends before it is too late.
I felt like this book was rushed. It seemed like everything conveniently fell into place. Abbey mentions that she has lost friends in the past due to her abilities yet everyone just accepts it and moves on like it’s no problem. Plus there were a lot of references to 80’s music which got annoying after a while.
Class Clown is a gripping YA horror story. Abbey has a history of paranormal experiences and starting a new high school hasn’t changed this. She’s doing her best to settle in and make friends, which would be much easier to do if inexplicable things didn’t keep happening to her and her new friends. If you’re into clown-related horror, this is the book for you! There are clowns everywhere. At the circus, of course, but also in the school corridors, the mirrors, people’s selfies, the middle of the road… SO many clowns. If you’re scared of clowns, this isn’t the book for you (unless you enjoy being scared in which case it’s perfect for you!). Abbey is a fun character, I like her inquisitive nature and obsession with 80s music! As well as being a ghost-magnet, she’s good at connecting with other people and builds a circle of friends, mainly from her soccer team, who join her in her attempts to save the school from the clown invasion. Abbey’s story begins in another book, Abnormally Abbey. Class Clown makes sense on its own, and you get plenty of background information as we go along, but if you intend to read Abnormally Abbey I would recommend starting there to avoid spoilers. This book gets five stars from me! I’d recommend it to fans of high school paranormal stories, like Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
A good, creepy, coming of age story in a town with soccer players and an abundance of clowns.
Abbey sees ghosts, and that's a mixed bag. It's cost her friends, but also enabled her to do some fairly heroic stuff in the past. She's new to town and trying to make friends, without broadcasting that she's the "creepy ghost girl". But of course the plans of mice and men often go awry. After a creepy trip, she's gotta figure out why all these dead clowns are hanging around.
And that's the part I found the strongest of the story was the paranormal aspect. The ghosts are creepy and just hanging around, but the atmosphere given to them is palpable. The scenes when they make appearances knock it out of the park.
Where I found things a little lacking is in terms of the personal interactions of the characters. Her friends seem to oscillate between different age ranges of communication and it's not super consistent. Such is often an issue with writing young adult or middle grade is it's easier to just lend them the voices of adults and move on. And some things seemed a little clumsy like the 80s music references.
But, when Abbey's facing down a clown and the tension ramps up? That'll forgive a solid bit of clumsiness.
Solidly recommended.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This book originally caught my eye when I saw the spooky cover - and further when I saw clown in the title. I'm not a fan of clowns in general, but love spooky stuff, paranormal, dystopian kind of reads. This book, and Abbey, are not the "norm". When you do something so different from the rest, it is either a great move or disastrous, and the author with this move did something outstanding.
Abbey Hill has always had spooky events happen to her with ghosts being drawn her way. Most are friendly, or just confused, but some are downright evil. So many relationships have been lost thanks to her "talent" - and that's not what she would consider it. After taking a fun family trip to the circus with her parents, Abbey begins noticing ghost clowns everywhere she goes. While that is bad enough, her friends then start disappearing. Is Abbey the cause of her missing friends? Can she fix this?
Abbey is really a great, strong, fun character and carries the story incredibly well. I love her sense of self, her snarkiness, her taste in music - on top of all the other dramas and messes of high school, everything blends so well and is a really intoxicating read. I'm thrilled to find several more books by this author to dig into next!
Abbey is a magnet. A magnet for ghosts. She’ll be the first to tell you it’s not glamorous or fun. I mean, how much fun is it when you lose friends and have your life in danger? After a night at the circus with her family, someone, or something, has followed her home; that something is bad. Now with dead clowns at her new high school and friends going missing Abbey is the only one who might be able to help, but she could also be the reason for the craziness…
This was such a fun read! It’s well written and leaves you wanting more from Abbey. She’s strong and independent and you can feel how much she cares about those around her. I haven’t read the first book (Abnormally Abbey) but definitely plan to go back and read it now. It’s not needed in order to read Class Clown though, so no worries on feeling lost!
If you are one to listen to music when you read, an 80’s playlist is what you’ll want for this story. Abbey’s internal song list is bound to get something stuck in your head.
Class Clown is a fun, spooky read and is an exciting twist on Young Adult. Now that I’ve read it, I want to find more Young Adult books in a similar fashion because while we didn’t have ghosts, being a teen was definitely hard work. Throw in some spookiness, and high school gets a lot tougher.
Well I couldn’t put it down, and when I tried a few hours later I had to finish it. I loved it! Class Clown was definitely a book off the beaten path for me. Not usually my cup of tea. What attracted me though was the “Ghost Whisper” aspect of it. Abbey has a thing, that thing is she can communicate with ghosts. After joining her family at the circus, Abbey starts seeing ghost clowns. Everyone’s worst nightmare, right? What happens when her friends and fellow soccer players start disappearing? She’s still being stalked by clown ghosts and doesn’t know why. She also feels those same ghosts are behind the disappearances of her friends. But, are they? How can a ghost take someone, they are just an entity after all. Abbey does everything she can to get to the bottom of her friends' disappearances, while helping a few ghosts along the way. Does she figure it out? What do the clown ghosts want? It’s different but really good, I definitely recommend this book to anyone who comes across it. Be mindful though if you’re afraid of clowns, proceed with caution as this book can very well be a trigger of your fear. Otherwise Enjoy!
This was my first time reading a book of this particular genre, and all I can say is wow!! It is absolutely thrilling; I couldn’t put it down! Abbey always knew something was different about her, not that she was particularly happy about that, but she can’t exactly change it. However, it proves to be a particularly useful gift when she has to use her gift, as well as having to discover her own inner strength, to figure out why students at her new school keep going missing. This book is full of mystery, and the suspense will keep you on the edge of your seat! This book is an amazingly fast paced and thrilling with surprised when you’d least expect them, yet the plot flows perfectly!! If you like young adult teenage angst, plenty of drama, clowns, and even ghosts, this is perfect for you! Allen Evan’s created a wonderful experience when writing this book, and I’m so glad I stepped out of my normal comfort zone to try it! Though it is the second book of the ghost girl series I was able to read it and not feel like I was missing any information I needed despite having not read the first book featuring out fourteen-year-old heroine.
This book is not in my normal go to wheel house. I have read horror before and enjoy a good mystery, so I thought, why not give this book a try. I was not disappointed. This book flows from the first page to the last page. It is incredibly well written and the characters have growth. The thing that gets me though is that the main character is having to deal with seeing dead people and crazy clowns all while attending high school and trying to have a normal life. She sets out to save those she cares about from the crazy clowns, which I pictured in my head to look a little like Killer Clowns From Outer Space but darker. The action sequence in this book is a huge page turner. The ending I feel could have lasted a little longer. Maybe had more of an epic engine scene but it was still really good the way it is. I guess I just didn't want the book to end. If you are looking for a book that will completely transport you into the story, this is that book. I lost track of time while reading this because I couldn't put it down.
Class Clown (Ghost Girl #2) by Allan Evans is a wonderfully spooky YA paranormal story- with ghosts, dead clowns, high school drama, secrets, creepiness, intensity, suspense, mysteriousness, and dramatic developments that kept me flipping the pages to find out what would happen. This is part of the Ghost Girl series, the first book being ‘Abnormally Abbey’, and even though I haven’t read the first book in the series, I didn’t feel like I was lost or unsure of what was happening- so this could be read as a standalone. Having said that though, it has definitely piqued my curiosity enough to want to go back and read the first book to find out more about Abbey. Abbey isn’t your average teenager- she has an ability that has come with quite a high cost- one she would rather not possess. She can’t even pretend that the supernatural is all make believe now- because she knows better. When something sinister follows her home from the circus, we follow along as Abbey tackles the clown apocalypse….. Happy Reading!
I love my scares as much as the next person, the one thing that really scares well anything out of me, it is clowns. This book was crafted so well together, I was intrigued and amazed and scarred at certain points all at the same time. I really had a fun ride with this one!
The scares the story brought as well as unforgettable characters were unlike any other. Every turn Abby faced was a to do with clowns, and to save those she loves most she will have to face her greatest fears. I loved how real Abby was. She was generally afraid, that was made known. She had to find courage to beat the evil that was stalking her. She was remarkably written. I really enjoyed reading of her. I loved how the story went about, it was crafted well with suspense. When it ended I think I had the same feelings as Abby did,! I loved the book and the thrill it gave me. Highly recommend.
Wonderful writing and a story that developed from a gifted author. There was no way I could get enough from this book, it was well done and a thrill ride all the way through. Highly recommend this book!
Class Clown is part of the Ghost Girl Series and I truly enjoyed reading this YA/Paranormal story. I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect going in but once I started I found myself having a hard time putting it down. This is a fairly new author to me and I’m definitely looking forward to seeing what other books they . It started out a bit slow but definitely picked up the pace pretty quickly and the twists and turns kept me on the edge of my seat trying to figure out what was going to happen next. This is a story about Abbey, she seems to have some pretty cool super powers. These super powers give her the ability to see ghosts and interact with them. She goes to the circus with her parents and a ghost clown follows her home. Abbey finds herself seeing clowns everywhere she goes and when her friends start disappearing from school she she has a feeling the clowns may be involved. I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I definitely can’t wait to read more from this Author.
Allan Evans delivers in Class Clown! This is the first book I've read by this author and he did not disappoint! This book was difficult to put down, full of twists and turns. Class Clown is full of ghosts, hauntings, mystery, intrigue, and typical teenage sarcasm! The characters are well developed and extremely realistic and relatable. I found myself wanting to be friends with Abbey and her team of soccer athletes. They all seem to take the paranormal events that follow Abbey with relative ease, which I thought was maybe a little atypical. The way Allan Evans builds the world in this book so that the reader is transported to the scene, creating a sense of relative calm or foreboding based on the happenings of the story, was absolutely amazing. Beginning Class Clown, I was unaware of other stories featuring Abbey, but found that I didn't really need to read the other books to fully understand this one. But now, I cannot wait to read more about Abbey and read more books from Allan Evans.
Class Clown By Allan Evans Review By Susan Ratchford 5 Stars
Abbey has never been normal, she sees and attracts ghosts like it's her job, and this job sucks!. After going to the circus with her family she starts to notice the terrifying figures of different ghosts following her everywhere, from her school to her home. Not even normal ghosts no…. Creepy ghost clowns!!!! When two of her friends go missing she realizes she is the only one with the abilities to possibly save them. Will Abbey be able to stop the Clown Apocalypse and save her new friends?! This book gave me chills!!!! Wonderfully vivid, whimsical, and creepy. I loved it!!! I really enjoyed Abbey’s story and the relationships with her friends and teammates that grew along the way. I also enjoyed her relationship with her father. Class Clown by Allan Evans kept me turning pages just to find out what happens next! It's really nice when a book surprises me and this one had so many parts that were really unexpected! I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a frightening tale with unbreakable friendships!
Class Clown by Allan Evans is the second installment in this set (The first is Abnormally Abbey). I have not read the first book, but had no issue getting into this one and did not feel like I was missing information, so it can be read as a standalone. After reading this one, I will be going back and reading Abnormally Abbey (and others by this author) as it was exceptionally interesting to me, and different than your “typical” ghost story. Abbey is your average 14yr old high school girl….or is she? She can see and communicate with spirits, but this is not always as fun as it may sound. This time, she has piqued the interest of a clown at the traveling circus that has come to town…and he seems pretty intent on following and harassing her. But that is only where it starts, now her new-found soccer teammates are starting to come up missing…Is it all connected? If THAT doesn’t catch your attention, there are TONS of 80s music references in here to keep all of us “old people” in a nostalgic head spin. I can’t give away TOO much, but this was definitely worth the read.
