Viceroy Miles Hunt had accomplished the impossible. He gambled the Republic, the RNS Freedom and the entire joint allied fleet in one glorious battle.
Secretly, the Zodarks plotted revenge, a restart to hostilities once their spies had found Earth. With peace achieved, new exploration began.
Opportunities at new settlements enticed. All believed the threat of annihilation was past them and with that comforting thought, Liam and his Belters headed for their new world. They would build and expand their society--giving the people of Earth an alternative to the Republic.
With its shipyard capacity finally reaching its zenith, the Republic began a growth spree and galactic sprawl like no other. Moons and planets, either newly conquered or discovered, were being colonized. Galactic trade grew increasingly important. The Republic had a war debt that had to be paid.
There was just one problem…
…a discovery by Dr. Katō Sakura could change everything.
The mysterious Humtars had left behind the stargates. But why did their vast empire disappear? If Dr. Sakura kept searching, would she unlock Pandora’s box?
Good spy novel angle for this intergalactic military fiction series. The Terrans may have been infiltrated and had their asses handed to them at first, but at least they finally let Delta loose to track them all down. Curious to see where it goes from here. This book seemed to go very quick, but was still an interesting listen
This series just gets better and better , It doesn’t have the massive space battles that are in the other books but I really enjoyed the slightly different take and the direction the authors are taking the series .
The spy craft / intelligence / counterintelligence The expansion of the Zodark race and their history The expansion of the human federation The political challenges between differing human organisations and from the human to alien The pressures upon the Viceory
The best boook yet in the series ! Highly highly recommend
I have one clear issue with this book. You spend far too much time seeing from the view of enemies. I am not interested in their backstory at all. It was just annoying how much this was done. It lets up some after about 30% of the book but never stops and every chapter from their view just irritated me.
This book is indeed a calm before the storm. But the author let’s see how the pieces are falling together from many different perspectives while now overwhelming us with the mundane.
Read read read because I can say you should if you don’t want to miss out on a crazy series getting a spy genre felt like ww2 birthing the O.S.S. has try to find it’s feet an a new and changed world.
Again an excellent read! This book deviates from the others of this series and takes the reader to the highest echelons of the waring parties. The intrigue of how information is gathered and used is compelling and results in a book I couldn’t put down.
It was mostly a boring read. The book was clearly a prelude to a follow up book. By the time I finished the book I thought that what was important could have been summarised in a couple of pages. Zodarks were coming and they were preparing well for the upcoming invasion of Earth.
A little bit boring, but only in a few places. Too much history, for me. Otherwise, up to the usual standard, which is great. Have to wait until the end of September, now, for the next one in the series. But worth waiting for. Great writing.
This is the slowest burn of the series . Not much happens, but a lot is developed for the rest of the series I imagine. Wish there was more action, but overall a good book.
This really is a period of calm compared to the previous books. The problem is to determine what is going on during the time on both sides. That is the job of the spies on which both sides are depending.
This author tells a superb story! I found it difficult to put down. He successfully navigates a tough plot line and manages to keep everything in its proper place.
Recovering ancient technology changes the field of conflict. Unfortunately both sides have their ace in the hole. Well written stories from each perspective.
Just a tad bit slower than the previous books but I mean... you can't keep the pace up of the previous books I needed a break... oh wait... I think I read this in a day. Should I give this one 5 stars?
There were a few holes in the plot near the end of the book but over all it is a good read. The previous book contained several typos. For instance they could not keep straight if Pauli's last name was Smith or Sanders.
This book is very different from the others. There's a cease fire in effect... but it's just a pause in hostilities. Also, now it's a different type of warfare: espionage!
This book is important as it is a bridge to the books that come next. Have a 4 not a 5 because of lack of real action, but it is understandable as the series need to pivot towards the future. Still a great read!!
I was surprised at where this book went several times, but it is a very good read. I enjoyed it completely. You will not be disappointed when you get this book.
Another page Turner from the author. I couldn't put it down, looking forward to the next book in the series, the author has wove a story across the universe.
Better than Star Trek ,very good and well played out ,gripping , characters well defined. Believable. Can't stop reading. I think about it many times throughout the day!!
This is a great series. I recommend it immensely. From the very first word in the very first book, it draws you in and doesn't let you out until you're finished.
