So, you’ve hit a wall with your marketing strategy. You’re struggling to connect with your target audience and retain their business. You’ve tried the social media thing, but your engagement is lower than you’d like it to be. And you’re selling something impactful, but for some reason, no one seems all that interested. You’re frustrated and tired. Something needs to change, but you don’t know where to start. Well, this book is where to start. Six Second Maximize Your Impact in Minimal Time with Video Storytelling was written with you in mind -- the beginner storyteller, entrepreneur, small business owner, nonprofit director, content creator, or influencer. Filmmaker and storytelling expert, Rain Bennett, will walk you through how to utilize the power of storytelling via video as a key marketing technique to help boost your overall audience engagement, and keep them engaged for the long haul. We discuss why storytelling is critical to your business’s success, the specifics of where and how to tell a good story, the science behind why storytelling works, and so much more. After reading this book, you’ll be well on your way to creating lasting connections with your audience and growing your business more than you thought possible!
The way the book is written and the topics covered makes this the perfect book for the beginner. Rain explains the concepts in a way that is simple to grasp making it easy to understand how to use in real life to help yourself or your business. It’s obvious his strength is coaching and empowering others who haven’t started storytelling yet for whatever reason. That shines through his writing. And, the science nerd in me is loving how he ebbs and flows between art and science. Often times, explaining a topic and science behind it and then backing it up through personal stories. This makes the content more exciting (sometimes just talking science gets dry) and memorable. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who wants a complete guide to making an impact through storytelling!
Putting this book to use will improve your life! (How is that for getting a point across in six seconds?) Perhaps you will use every bit of information and create a video that propels your business or organization to new heights. Perhaps you will use the information on storytelling and improve the everyday conversations you have with friends, family and customers or clients. What is your call to action?
Six second stories is a great book for anyone looking to be a great storyteller. It’s a unique book where author teaches you to the art of storytelling with the help of his own stories.
The book provides step-by-step instructions on how to create and deliver powerful stories. The book is divided into three sections where first section portrays the importance of storytelling. The second section discusses how to deliver great stories and the third section shows how to maximize your impact in minimal time through storytelling.
The author emphasises the importance of creating the magic that hooks your audience till the end. It shows how delivering stories in the right way can bring a change. One thing I liked about this book is the message that author gives : The best tool to create a video or content is not expensive camera ,big room, lot of tools but You and Your Passion. Additionally, there are ample examples and exercises to sharpen the skills.
Whether you are a working professional or a content creator or someone who wants to better his storytelling skills, this book is for you.
I've been working on my own book for some time now and have been diving deep into story structure. This book covers many familiar storytelling frameworks that may feel familiar if you’ve studied other books on novel or screenwriting, but Rain’s approach stands out.
He tells personal stories using well-known structures—like the Story Spine—in a way that feels natural and engaging, adding immersive details. The primary focus is on short-form video and capturing an audience's attention through social media, a concept I found useful.
It also resonated with me as an effective way to tell anecdotes in a flowing, conversational style that’s short and to the point—exactly what I needed to balance my own tendency to get overly theoretical.
This book likely is a result of a six second story that has a word count requirement. Large passages from other books are included, the author repeats his own stories and reviews the plots to movies and other stories. If you want to know what happens in Star Wars or Jerry Maguire all you have to do is plod through boring stories of crowd funding and North Carolina. In chapter 8 there are two prompts that might help you to create a six second story. Should have been a tik tok.
