3.75 stars--DECLAN : HIS TO CONTROL is the fifth instalment in Josephine Jade’s contemporary, adult HIS FOREVER dark, erotic, Mafia romance series. This is businessman/widower Declan Mulgrew, and twenty-two year old, Katriona ‘Kat’ Evans’ story line. DECLAN: HIS TO CONTROL can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty-it is not connected to, and has no affiliation with the previous instalments.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Declan and Kat) DECLAN: HIS TO CONTROL follows in the wake of the murder of Declan’s wife and his unborn child. Six years earlier, Joe Evans, the man who r*aped and murdered Declan’s wife got off an a technicality leaving Declan a shell of his former self. Fast forward to present day wherein Declan had bided his time, and planned his revenge to the smallest detail. Believing she had won a lottery vacation, the now twenty-two year old daughter of a killer Katriona Evans, woud find herself the prisoner of the husband of the woman her father had murdered, a man of whom she had fantasized for close to six years. What ensues is the tempestuous but building relationship between Declan and Kat, and the potential fall-out as Kat’s life hangs in the balance as she attempts to run from the man that she loves.
Katriona Evans is a victim but Declan Mulgrew only sees red, betrayal and a need for revenge, and Kat is only a means to an end but Declan never expected to fall for the woman he was hoping to destroy, a woman who was willing to die than remain a prisoner the rest of her life.
The relationship between Declan and Kat is that of betrayal and revenge, prisoner and jailer, power, control, acceptance and love. Declan has plans to destroy our story line heroine using any means necessary, including claiming our heroine as his own. This is once again a dark and brooding book leading into the darker paths of wants and the desires.
Declan ,depraved with grief,after his wife and unborn baby are murdered six years earlier. Decides to release his rage on the only person that he can,the dead murderers daughter Kat. The girl who ran up to him as he was leaving court on the day her father was released a free man. She ran up to him saying " I'm sorry ".
The sins of the father ,she was going to pay...
Making you feel the torture that Declan was putting Kat through ,not just kinks but mentally too. Whilst Kat wages between want she thinks she should be thinking and wanting,to what she's truly desires but feels dirty admitting it to herself,let alone admitting to her kidnapper.
