The Princess and the Bully

Rate this book
I'm a princess. I was fine with the way my life was – partying all day and night. But my parents weren't.

Now I'm a student at Southern Goldsworthy University. The best for the rich and elite.
Heath Goldsworthy, campus heartthrob and oldest son of the Dean, came into my life as the first true friend I've ever had.
He gave me a new start. Something that I was very grateful for.
Now he's missing...
And I'm the top suspect responsible for his disappearance.
His sister hates me, but his brother hates me more.
He wants to make my life a living hell until I confess what happened that night.
But I can't confess what I don't remember.
And why does he keep messing with my emotions? I hate playing his games.
The Dean's son doesn't just go missing.
Someone is responsible and they don't want me to remember.
I have to find out who before it's too late.

Please be advised, this is a dark romance with possibly triggering content, including dub/noncon and a suicide attempt.

Callan is the deans son and his brother Heath and twin sister Collette are big on the university campus. Mera is from another country and is a princess. Her parents send her to the states for a better life and punishment from being a party girl and not a good princess. She meets Heath and he shows her around. She has some issues at the beginning and trying to get into the same sorority as her mom and be someone they can be proud of. Since she has a lot of evil looks and really does know what a true friend is she is alone. She meets some girls and begins to understand friendship until Heath disappears and his brother Heath thinks she has something to do with it all. This book has a lot of different emotions from hate to love to disgust to sadness. I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait for the next one to come out.

I didn’t think I would like this book so much but it was much more than I thought. When Mera is sent to the university she figures she would just get decent grades and party the rest of the time but Heath befriends her and school is a little easier until Heath goes missing and she is accused. The worst of it is Cullen who is a bully and harnessed every chance he gets but slowly Cullen realizes that Mera isn’t that bad even though he doesn’t trust her. This was not a typical college story and I was more intrigued as I read.

Wow, this was such a great read! I was engaged the whole time and struggled to put it down. To be honest the beginning I was so irritated with the princess, but halfway through she started fighting back a bit and all the twists and turns of the plot were great! There were some really dark moments, but I cannot wait to read the next one!!

This is book one in The Goldsworthy University Series and it is Mera's story and omg it is definitely a must read. Mera is a princess and she loves to party but now her parent's have had enough and they have decided to send her to Southern Goldsworthy University in America for four year's to try and change how she is behaving and turn her life around but it is not smooth sailing and she gets a cold reception but she doesn't care. Things start happening and Heath who has always been nice to her and is someone important goes missing and she is blamed for it but Callan who is Heath's brother thinks that she knows something and he is making her life so difficult and treating her like garbage and she can't seem to get away from him. There are many twists and turns along with betrayal, abuse, suspense, hope and many difficult situations that had you on the edge of your seat wondering what would happen next and it was so full of action and drama that I couldn't put this book down as it was so addictive and I can't wait to read the next book in this series.

There were a lot of instances where the plot moved forward without explaining to the reader what is happening or how. The first example that comes to mind is the fraternity/sorority hazing incidents that occur. The reader is expected to infer that the guys are tasked with running through the campus naked, the guys have to bring back a naked sorority sister and carry them across campus? That whole part was weird.

Another thing that irked me was how Callan's cousins and Mera's sister randomly go missing. These heiresses/princesses just go missing for months and it's not brought up again or clarified. The parents of these children remain neglectful and dismissive of all these events. And Callan's family plays such a sketchy role in everything. It's fine to leave some threads untied for future books in the series, however, this was more like leaving a book unfinished.

Speaking of parents... Mera's parents are royalty...and they send her, a publicly known princess, to live in the United States alone without protection and with money limitations. If she somehow messes up, she becomes HOMELESS for the rest of her 4 year-exile. wtfff? Then when this girl is suspected of murder, gets bullied, and arrested, they don't immediately bring her home. No. When Mera calls to ask if she can come home, her mother says Mera called in the middle of the night and they can talk about it later because she's tired. WTF?
All this, but when Mera's sister goes missing, they need Mera to become the heir apparent. And Mera just accepts all of this.

Next, there was an obvious red-herring in the story about who would be responsible for the disappearance/murder of Heath, but the reveal was just disappointing. There was nothing throughout the story that left clues or evidence to explain how the real culprit(s) was responsible. It felt like it was something that was thought of at the last minute and thrown in as a plot twist.

Lastly, while I could deal with plot holes, ridiculous characters, and an anticlimactic climax, I was mostly annoyed at how I felt there was very little connection between Callan and Mera. They have an entire backstory to their relationship of meeting when they were young, yet this plays no significance to the story or to their developing feelings. Their "relationship" was him wrongly placing blame on her, trying to make her break by "playing a game" well before his brother even goes missing, pushing her to the edge and saving her when she falls off it, and then suddenly deciding to trust her. From Mera, she is just spineless to everyone despite putting up an IDGAF attitude, easily succumbs to Callan's games, and then bounces back immediately to claim she loves him. I guess they deserve each other, but it's nothing to read about.

DNF @ 27% - I have no idea how this book made it onto my TBR. This was ridiculous. I should have shut it when the princess’s parents sent her to the states with no money or security detail…. And then again when her College classes were: Math, Science, Art, etc… 👀 WTH? 🤣 None of the characters’ actions or motivations make any dang sense. Nothing in this book made sense. We’re Just dropped into random OTT scenes and expected to know what was going on. She made BFF’s and picked up a boyfriend within a couple hours of being dumped on the campus. Also the blackout drunk party girl apparently had never even been kissed. 👀🙄 Sure thing. 👌🏻

tw / sa, rape

i can’t even explain all the reasons why this book was so BAD.

nothing in this book made any sort of sense. it felt like the author was randomly coming up with stuff and throwing new shit and new characters in towards the end. there were absolutely no clues leading up to that ending. u can’t just write something completely random and call it a plot twist. like u really expect me to believe that two jealous college girls were responsible for all of that ??? not only was it anticlimactic, it was straight up shitty writing. there was just so much happening that contributed nothing to the storyline.

also! the way 90% of the men in this book have never heard of consent. the poor mc could not go 1 chapter without being sexually assaulted. and many times by her own love interest. i get that it’s a dark romance (which i love) but romanticizing sa is just so disgusting. he literally rapes her on that roof. like there was nothing consensual about that. and he still has the audacity to apologize and say he’ll never do it again? 😭 how nasty.

and these are just the main things. there were about a million and a half plot holes, shitty characters, and shitty writing. everyone rating this 5 stars is straight up lying, there was nothing enjoyable about this.

in conclusion, one of the worst books i’ve ever read !

This whole book was a joke. Somehow I was supposed to believe this was taking place in college but I honestly forgot. It 100% felt like a high school setting based off of the actions of EVERY character. At one point it felt so “mean girls” that I couldn’t believe it.

Mera being a princess was a waste of time. It certainly didn’t feel like she was royalty. The author could’ve made her a random rich girl and it would’ve been the same.

Callan was disgusting. Someone mentioned a ‘redemption arc’ in the reviews and all I’ve got is: where??? What redemption arc? He’s a piece of shit and that’s that. Him and all his shit friends.

I guess if you’re into some really dark romance where the first half of the book or so is the female lead being [redacted] by the male lead, this is the book for you. Personally I found it ✨irritating✨ and absolutely awful. Throw in the female lead acting as tho she OWED him something later on & I’m certain this book wasn’t for me.

I don’t understand all the 5 star reviews I saw but maybe there’s some merit somewhere that I’m not seeing. Even the mystery part left a sour taste in my mouth by the end. I thought it was handled badly and was overall disappointing.

Good luck out there, pals.

Is no one concerned about the amount of times Callan r@ped Mera? It seems like the book is romanticizing sexual violence :/

Holy Marbles this was so freaking good. A romance with twists and turns that you won't see coming. The chemistry between Mera and Callan was off the charts. The mystery kept me at the edge of my seat.

Now this is a very good start on a series that I have a feeling will keep growing into something ever darker and more mysterious. IN this first book we get to learn more about princess Mera and the bad boy Callan. He is the deans son but it also has a twist in this story. A thrilling turn of events that will leave one key person missing.

Always remember to read the trigger warnings cause this one has triggers.

She loves to party day and night but her parents are not keen on it all, she is a princess. They decide to send her to school where she will meet him and for the first time ever she has a friend she can rely on. He then disappears and everyone believes she is behind it all but she has no memories of what happened. Now she needs to try to find him but it is not made easy by his brother and sister. Can she solve the mystery? Who is trying to stop her finding him? See if she can find him

!! Minor spoilers !!

There were like 100 pages of this book that was good. The beginning was horribly written and the characters didn’t seem developed at all. If you’re into cnc the love story is kinda hot except there’s really no consent whatsoever until after the MC has said no multiple times and is crying and trying to get the guy off of her. The MC almost gets raped MULTIPLE times but never seems to have any sort of trauma from it and then the guy who actually rapes her is the one who she falls in love with. Like what the heck?? The very middle of it was good and I think it had the potential to have a good story line, but much of it was just confusing and I’d often have to go back and reread large sections trying to figure out where I got lost.
As for the ending… it was completely unsatisfactory. Right before the big reveal of who the killer was the author decided to throw in clues that made like 10 different people seem like the killer and then in the end it was completely different people. I thought it was completely over for a second when all of a sudden they threw in one of the loose ends they never tied up and then tried to leave us with a cliffhanger when the next book that’s coming out isn’t even about the same characters. Im done. Im so done. Waste of my time and efforts. I’ve never been so disappointed. However a lot of people seem to have enjoyed it so idk. Maybe give it a read.

This is why tiktok should have an age limit. I got sucked into booktok and ended up on smutok (it’s the best fit for me really) and it somehow led me to this…. This in no way can be called a romance. There is nothing romantic about rape and frigging someone who is saying no is Rape and actual rape is also Rape and rape is not romantic. All but two male characters in this should probably be up on sexual assault charges. And the rest of the book was equally horrible. A couple reviews mentioned this reading like a wattpad, if only I’d read them first.

Reminder to self… if it’s on kindle unlimited or only $.99, read the 2 star reviews a first before downloading. Off to bleach my brain and found 45+tok.

Yet another book where the main character gets sexually assalted and raped by the "love interest" and it is romanticized.

He's actually assaulted her once. And then after he thinks that she killed his brother, which she didn't, he rapes her on a rooftop. She's crying, telling him to stop, and he doesn't listen. A few pages later, she completely ignores it. She ignores the fact that she just got raped by him. She doesn't even acknowledge it. It's literally not even brought up. I don't know about anybody else reading this but if I were to get raped, I wouldn't forget about it a few days later. It's disgusting and it's completely unrealistic. Absolutely nobody acts like that after they have gone through something so horrible

Stop fucking romanticizing abuse, sexual assault, and rape in your books. It's fucking disgusting.

First book to be read by the author Tiffany Ransier. If I could be honest, I was planning to give this book 3 stars at the beginning. Mainly because the herione Mera, was so frustrating!! She kepting finding herself in trouble, always needing to be rescued, and never really standing up for herself. However, around 50-55% into the book, Mera, and the book itself took a wild and crazy turn and it kept getting juicer and juicer. Author Tiffany Ransier definitely earned her 5 stars.

After a brief glance at the ratings I wasn’t sure what to expect with this book, but it was a really great read. Enemies to lovers is my favorite trope and Tiffany Raiser did a phenomenal job with this trope in this book! This book was such a rollercoaster and the smut was *chef’s kiss*. This dark, bully romance was so intriguing and twisty!

The past and future

This book has a small pre time that becomes very important in this book. It has mystery, love, heartbreak, bullying and a story to tell. Great book with an interesting set up. Love the length and story line.

Well this book was different but good. A Princess, Mera sent to America to boarding school because she was out of control and partying to much. They wanted to try to get her to settle down. She acted like she was to good for this school but Heath a guy she meet decided to help her out and give her the new start she needed. But of course with any good book there was something that was going to stop this from happening. Heath and Callan his brother , who was also the Dean of the college. Callan didn't like Mera at all. This story starts one way and then bang a twist and everything changes, Mystery begins on the disappearance of Heath and all fingers point to Mera. Love ate relationship happens and the author really gets you wanting more.

What. Did. I. Just. Read.

This book was beyond amazing. It literally kidnapped me from my life. Making me only sleep, eat and read for two days straight!

If you like dark romance, bully romance and a HELL OF A plot. This is the book for you.

I shit you not this book shocked me way too many times.
The plot twists, the mystery, the enemies to lovers, the slow burn and the occasional heart aches.

What more do you need in a book?

** Okay now that I finished freaking out over this book. ⤵️
I wish the writer would have explained and talked more about the whole sister situation. Especially since there won’t be a sequel.🤷🏻‍♀️
