Is escaping hell worth the cost of total submission? Beast isn’t sure, but he’s willing to try.
BEAST I had plenty of balls when my story started, and not just between my legs. At my prison they called me Beast, and for years I ruled them like a real man With my junk. Until the day I opened my eyes and found myself surrounded by naked clowns. It was no nightmare; I was trapped at the Circus of Sin. With the swing of a blade, the “real man” was gone, but it was the Ringmaster’s caress that broke me. My only hope was death. Then the Master came to my rescue. And at his side? A very beloved slave I knew all too well from the days I’d “ruled him with my junk” in our prison cell. Is this demon here to save me or destroy me for touching his pretty pet? As long as I escape these dang clowns, I’m really not sure I care. I swore I’d never submit, never be a good dog, but for a chance at freedom? I may find life in new places, and maybe love, too. PRETTY The last thing I expected to get for my birthday was the sort of nuts you can’t eat, pickled in a jar. Master meant well, he really did, but nobody wants nuts in a jar, even from the monster who violated your body and soul. I’m desperate to make up for this crime committed in my name, enough to demand we rescue a man that I hate. And maybe, a little bit, because I really need to hear him say sorry. But seriously? Nobody told me there’d be clowns. Or that cruel jerk wads like Beast don’t know what sorry means. He does seem to like me, though, and weirdly enough? I’m starting to like him, too… maybe even more. But a real man knows how to say sorry for his wrongs, and who doesn't want real men?
_____ Though interspersed with funny, quirky moments, this book contains non-con, dub-con, and very dark, violent situations. It ends with a HFN!
Skylar Sweeney is an author of M/M romance of all varieties (with a couple of transgender M/F and gender fluid ones thrown in!). He specializes in darkly sweet stories with quirky characters placed in usual situations.
------
This is the second Skylar Sweeney novel that I read and I admit that I love the way I get sucked in every time
I didn't expect such a story, even though I know Skylar likes to write stories about tortured and borderline characters. The beginning felt so horrible to me that I wondered where Skylar was coming from. So I hung on and was amazed to see topics that we never talk about, narcissism, rape in prison, revenge, maximum submission, dysfunctional family relationships, faith in each other whatever it be and above all redemption. So many subjects dear to my heart.
I love this way of showing that we are all at our totally twisted level ;-)
And the most important thing for me at least, knowing that there is going to be a sequel is awesome, I hope it's about Majesty's slave story, I would love to know more about him and what got him to where he is.
Story to follow....
I forgot thank you for catching me on the fly by offering me to read this read via ARC
Where to begin with this review…This twisted, dark definitely gets to me, in a good way. I think… I’m not sure what that says about me as a person 🙈😂
At the beginning of this book I was a bit lost, not sure I followed the storyline and I’m not sure I liked the writing either. Can’t put my finger on what bothered me about the writing, it just didn’t flow when reading it…
That said the second half of the book, I was all in and invested as F! Where does Skylar takes this story? Right where I want it. I love that Beast helps Master understand Pretty, and I would definitely like to see more about the relationship between these 3, sometimes 4, men.
To say this is your typical romance book is wrong, and I sometimes need this twisted, dark, quirky stories that the authors write. It’s really upsetting at times, certain parts was hard to read, but overall I liked this book.
OHH my gawd!! I love this series!! If I could give it more than five stars, I totally would!! You really should read Pretty for Master first. Master and his Pretty are on a mission to get Beast from the Ringmaster. This was a seriously fantastical roller coaster of a ride story with a side of quirk! The story will suck you in and not let go! Overall, fantastic! The story was really well written, the pacing was perfect, highly recommend. I’m voluntarily reviewing from an advanced copy that I received. My review is solely based on my thoughts and opinions.
When someone asks for a recommendation for a book that is totally out there in terms of dark, crazy and twisted but one you can't put down, send them to this one. The characters and world building are first rate and the plot has to be read (after you heed the trigger warnings) to be believed. I never thought Pretty should feel any sympathy for Beast, but here Pretty is the impetus for the rescue of Beast from the Circus, not that Beast really knows how to express gratitude for that. As Beast, Master and Pretty spend time together, however, each of them changes. Cannot wait to see where this goes in the next book.
I loved this book. It is more darker than the first book, but so good. Pretty and Master are together but Beast, who is mentioned in the first book, comes to life in this book. Some more familiar characters also show up in this book as well. This book has it's own twists that make you want to keep reading. I read it in 3 days. All characters do not disappoint! I get that this book might not be for everyone, but if you can handle the triggers, this book is worth it! I highly recommend it! I am so looking forward to Book #3(Cocky For Master). I received an ARC for this book and am giving my honest review in return!
This series is bananas. Seriously. But it is so crazy that I can’t stop reading it. I love it.
Master is back and if we thought the last book was a circus, this one has an actual circus. A depraved, dark and utterly sadistic circus, complete with clowns and a special ringmaster.
Pretty and Master embark on a journey to get Beast away from the Ringmaster. Now, I can’t spoil this book, and you really do need to read Pretty for Master to understand the why’s of this book, but it’s so worth it though.
This book is an all out roller coaster that takes no prisoners and makes no apologies. It is in your face with its ludicrous plot and characters but it’s the ride of a lifetime. I found myself so invested in Pretty’s future. I wanted Master to wake up and see that he needed to be better with Pretty. It’s clear that Master loves Pretty in his own way, Master just has to accept it. It’s outrageous that Beast ends up being a voice of reason in this book.
There is a plot arc, near the end, that I wish has been a little more detailed. Some time was skipped and I felt like it would have benefited the story to read some of the interactions as Pretty deals with a medical situation. There a several mini plot points that are ongoing and will carry us to the next book. I am definitely looking forward to it.
Once again, be extra sure to heed the triggers and then buckle up: it’s gonna get crazy.
*I received an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.
Buckle up, babes, cause this ride is getting even more twisted than the first time around! If you think the first book was a bit extreme then you are in for quite the surprise in this one. The author literally pulled out all the stops in making this one of the weirdest, most twisted sequels out there. The Mad Master is back and up to his completely deranged games as usual, however this time there's a twist. It seems that after brutally castorating the man who abused Pretty in prison and offering up said testes in a jar, that Pretty wasn't as happy about this as he'd hope d you and now he's got to rescue his victim from the Ringmaster. But the Beast isn't so sure being rescued by the Mad Master is much better and a lot of blood, pain, and sexual deviance is going to happen before Master, Pretty, Baby-Daddy, and Beast find some sort of HEA. Is it twisted? Yes! Deviant and brutal? Yes! Utterly addictive in the way a car wreck is? Omg, yes! Will I be waiting for the next book to come out? Heck, yes, I will! This is the type of book you are almost embarrassed to say you like - but you do!
⚠️Possible spoilers below———⚠️ I really wanted to like this book more than I did but it just didn’t have the same magic as Pretty for Master for me. For one, this one is a lot more brutal and gory which I was somewhat expecting but not to this extent and is not really for me. There was also a major difference in tone to this book. While the first book was dark but also playful and funny this one mostly felt dark and sad. I understand the need for that and it did make the few sweet moments in the book feel that much better but it was kind of a downer and not really what I was expecting after the first book. Also, there are no real sex scenes in this book (that I can recall) besides a flashback including oral, a scene between Master and Baby-Daddy, and another oral scene with Master and a slave. Besides these, any scenes involving penetration are punishment and are painful and bloody. This is not really my thing so I was a bit disappointed that there was nothing to balance out the brutality. Also, I was really looking forward to seeing the dynamic between the three on the cover and it never happened, painful or not. While the story and character progression was interesting and well-written (including some surprising twists) it didn’t feel very satisfying when it ended. I’m hoping that the next book gives us more of all of the characters and doesn’t just focus on Daddy and his boy because it really felt like we were left hanging at the end despite the changes in the household emotionally. Please proceed with caution and check the tags and read through the blurb and the warning because this book starts with a brutal bang. Overall Rating: 💖💖💖 (3) Spice Rating: 🌶️ (1) Fluff Rating: 🐻 (.5) Content/Trigger Warnings: gore, violence, torture (including painful penetration as torture), fisting, lots of anal tearing with mild descriptions, noncon/dubcon, kidnapping, sexual slavery ✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨ All that being said I really did enjoy Pretty for Master and since it was taken down I have included my review below. Go check it out on Sm@shwords before reading this one.
A Wild Ride
This book was right up my alley. I knew it was gonna be good because it got taken down and it did not disappoint! Master is certifiably insane and so much fun with many hidden depths and Pretty is an absolute joy and just the cutest little thing. It was so satisfying to see both characters grow and change in a way that still felt realistic in the world of the book (which is definitely not meant to be taken seriously and the allusions to Alice in Wonderland feel appropriate!). This book definitely kept me on my toes throughout the whole thing with twists and turns randomly sprinkled throughout. The only reason I didn’t give this the full five hearts is because there were a few inconsistencies in the sex scenes that took me out a bit as I was trying to visualize what was happening. Despite that, the book is definitely full of spice and the dirty talk is to die for. But definitely check out the triggers first because while there is a lot of comedy and levity, this book has a lot of really dark themes and scenes that could definitely be triggering. Be safe but check this out if it sounds like your cup of tea because it’s a fun one and I can’t wait to read more of the series! Overall Rating: 💖💖💖💖💗 (4.5) Spice Rating: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ (5) Fluff Rating: 🧸 (1) ⚠️Possible spoilers below———⚠️ Content/Trigger Warnings: kidnapping, murder and torture, noncon/dubcon, feminization, sex trafficking, bondage, child abuse, violence and somewhat detailed gore, master/slave, painful sex/penetration, penetration with a bottle
Skylar Sweeney is the master of the unpredictable book - especially for dark romance. I loved Pretty for Master, so I decided to try Beastly and once again? Absolutely adored it.
Now before we go further, please keep in mind that this is a DARK romance and there are some definite triggers. On page sexual assault, murder, violence - this book contains it. If you are triggered by any of that, please please please do not read this book.
Okay now that the red tape is out of the way:
Once again, Skylar's take on dark romance is equal parts dark, chilling, and hilarious. The characters are somehow incredibly lovable, even Master, even as he commits some incredible atrocities. Master is a narcissistic psychopath and the book does not shy away from this. He has absolutely no morals and no ability to feel remorse. He's also a sadomasochist in the truest sense of the word and consent is not a watch word for him. The only things we see him caring about - other than mayhem - are Pretty and Baby/Daddy.
In fact, caring for Pretty is what sets off the entire narrative of this story: when he seeks revenge for Pretty against Beast. Pretty isn't happy about it, so the two go off to Honduras to rescue Beast from the Ringmaster - who was Master's mentor before Master proved too crazy for the man to handle.
I can't really go too far into the plot without giving anything away, but needless to say, I loved it. I loved the way that Beast provided a balance in the house. I loved the throwbacks to the first book and the fact that Majesty/The Senator (Master's twin brother and the antagonist from the first book) is still mentioned and still plays a role in the plot. I loved the few interactions with Mother that we got throughout the book.
Mostly, I loved that Skylar once again catapulted us into the Mad Master's Wonderland, completely engulfing the reader in that brand of insanity. I laughed. I cringed. I contemplated researching Stockholm Syndrome. That is what one must do with the Made for Master series.
And then, at the end, I cheered because it looks like there will be a book three and the tease for it? Oh the tease for it has me very excited.
First things please please read the trigger warnings. Also you need to have read Pretty for Master before reading this book.
So…… where do I start. Master is as crazy as ever and I actually found myself loving him in this book. I definitely connected with him and pretty a lot more this time round.
I really wanted to hate Beast, I mean he hurt Pretty right? But I felt for him and loved watching him get a friendship of sorts with Pretty. Baby-daddy was the glue in this book for me. The care he gives Pretty is just everything. I mean like the first book, Beastly for master is 100% bonkers with a side of sick and twisted. But honestly the more I read the more I wanted.
I’m looking forward to the third book and to getting to know this little harem better.
I received an early copy in return for my honest review
Another chapter in the dark and comedic story of Master and his harem. We are introduced to Beast, a new/old character. Pretty and Beast have issues to work through in this story. I would suggest you read the first book in the series before this one, it will help with some of the back story. I loved the book. Any book that can make me laugh and cry out loud is one I would recommend and this one did both.
This book is delightfully twisted and I loved that. This installment sees Beast enter the fray with Master and Pretty. I enjoyed the twists and turns. I cannot wait to see what comes next for these men.
OK, so without spoilers, Pretty's birthday present starts them on an adventure that is unpredictable and wild. As is Skylar's style, we are left on the edge of our seats until the last page... bring on book 3
I loved the first book. This one was just too much. Maybe I’ll pick it up again when I’m in the mood for something darker filled with clowns and non-con.
Well, that was a quick turn-around with this author. I was so delighted by the first book in this series, flaws and all, that I immediately dove in this sequel. I was already a little iffy on the throuple angle but that was the least of my problems with this.
All the shortcomings of the first book are amplified in this one. An editor needed to take a good 50% of this out - I can't believe how boring this book gets after the incredibly violent beginning!
I guess that's the best point to start: The violence and darkness of the premise have no follow-through. AT some point the story ends up in fantasy lala-land where actions have no real consequences and leave no real trauma behind, except when Pretty needs to conveniently cry about it.
This is often a problem with authors who want to play on the dark side but are actually too afraid to to touch the toys. So all the dark warnings totally apply but there's no real danger because none of the characters actually have to deal with any of it.
SPOILERS
I also wanted something completely different from this story. I thought it would be an interesting, fucked-up h/c thing about Master and Pretty taking Beast in and sort of rehabbing/training him in their weird ways. Instead it's an unearned redemption arc and Pretty learning to forgive his abuser? Not the story I wanted to read and it all ended waaaay to schmoopy on top of it.
Too bad I really hoped I had finally found an author who delivered on the dark warnings they promised.
So I guess if you're squeamish and want to try something "dark" this is for you, if you're a dark fic fan this is at most going to be amusing and probably very exasperating.
