The Rhythm of Us is basically a book about intentionality. We don’t just wake up one day 25 years into marriage and find that a thriving marriage has just “happened.” Rather, we must decide who we want to become together and establish rhythms in life that move us toward that goal.
Husband and wife Chris and Jenni help us think through what rhythms and ruts might currently be in our marriages and how we can make changes to what will work better for us.
The second part of the book discusses rhythms that every healthy marriage should incorporate, including speaking life, serving, slowing down, seeking adventure, and staying in awe.
The third and final part of the book is a framework for married couples to work together to identify their own values and goals and craft rhythms that reflect those.
All in all, this is a solid marriage book aimed at helping couples resist drifting in their relationship and instead work together toward a thriving marriage.

This Had Lots of Good Information and Insight!

I am always looking for good Marriage books to recommend to friends and family. This would be high on my list. I liked that they switched off and gave different perspectives on a topic. Having been married now for 34 years I think I could say my husband and I have experienced many of the areas they touch on in the book. It hasn’t always been easy but I can say we are loving being empty nesters and are enjoying our time together very much!

I think this would be a great gift for a couple you care about and want to see their marriage thrive!

Audiobook: It was easy to listen to and read by the authors which is my preference for books like this. You really get to hear from their hearts and you get so much more from it.

I received a complimentary ARC of this book from NetGalley on behalf of the Publisher and was under no obligation to post a favorable review.

I have read a lot of marriage books, but it has been a while. This is a good one. A poignant reminder that rhythms make our lives, and a long, loving marriage is built in the everyday.

I would’ve loved to hear more about their personal story in a chronological way; the personal illustrations were sometimes hard to follow because they were out of order. And I just picked up their book without knowing anything about them (their podcast. Etc.) Also, they use a lot of quotes, but I will read their upcoming book on family.

I wanted to like it. But I was also listening to it. And the One Audio book system is a pain, and you end up listening to things over and over or different parts of the book simultaneously.

This book is a nice concept, but didn’t stand out as unique, especially helpful, or biblical.

It’s fine.

This book is fantastic! It is a quick read, but the authors share the key ways they have helped keep their marriage and relationship alive and thriving. Through committing to God and each other and continually prioritizing both, they have developed tools that help keep their relationship strong and share them with the reader. They are simple, but powerful and effective tools that anyone can apply to their own relationship. I really enjoyed both of the authors and the book as a whole.

Very powerful and inspiring book! I’ve read some marriage books that are just too cliche but this one just made me feel so much joy and hope that the next several decades of marriage can be just as wonderful as the first decade. A lot of tangible points and practices and I love how it was all woven through God!

"Some of the greatest opportunities for his work to flow freely through us come to us disguised in inconveniences."

"...looking for magic in the middle of the mundane, going out of our way to find small things to celebrate. Reasons to celebrate are all around us, all the time, if we choose to see them."

Such an incredible resource! My husband and I just finished listening to it and it prompted so many good and healthy conversations.
We will definitely be using many of the “check in” questions over and over again.
A must read!

Well written, with some humor, had good questions at the end of each chapter for discussion. A good book to read every few years as a check in for marriage.

I’m not married or in a serious relationship obviously this book isn’t for me.

But I can see how this is helpful and useful and it seems like a pretty good solid advice

So yeah a good solid 3 1/2 ⭐️⭐️⭐️
