GRADY Texas, 1880. Grady and Eli Ussher had long ago given up their sister for dead. When aged four, she’d been kidnapped by a Comanche war party. So when a woman claims she knew Lily as a ten-year-old, it’s the first real clue the brothers have she’s still alive. Desperate to find Lily, Grady begins a search that takes him to the rugged Texas Hill Country. But he soon discovers he’s not the only person searching for her. The two mysterious men on his trail are looking, too, and they’ll do anything to take Grady out of the hunt. When he confronts them, a gunfight in a desolate land leaves Grady barely alive.
LILY Deeply mistrustful of strangers, Lily says the bloodied man who’s just crawled out of the scrub should be left to die. They’re two women alone, she argues to Mama Helena. They owe this stranger nothing. But Helena can’t turn her back on the man when a wife and children could be waiting anxiously somewhere, hoping for his return. If she and Lily don’t help, he’ll die. When the injured man reveals he’s Grady Ussher, searching for his sister, Lily believes that’s impossible. She can’t dare to hope this man is kin. She has no kin, not after her family were caught in a brutal Comanche raid. Not after so many years have passed without a sign of Eli, who promised to come for her. But Lily has more to worry about than the stranger’s wild story. Someone from her past was tracking him and he’s unwittingly brought her worst nightmare right to her door. Now the three of them are in a fight for their lives. To survive, Lily must decide whether the lying outlaw can be trusted. This is the final installment of the epic Western Family Saga from Sam Scott. No profanity or swearing, and always a happily ever after ending.
Lily never gave up on finding her true family, but was equally blessed with another one!
Another five star extravaganza by Mr. Sam Scott, but this one is definitely a tear jerker, if you have ever read one! There is one exciting adventure after the other, and enough ongoing complications than you can ever imagine! Lily, and her ongoing exploits, will grab your heartstrings and the feeling never falters throughout this compelling western masterpiece of unending exciting heartwarming episodes! Superbly documented storylines that successfully maintains your undivided attention immediately and never falters throughout the entire series of ongoing events from beginning to end! No slow downs throughout the entire series of one entertaining revelation after the other! Too, the Author's outstanding descriptive character selections are unsurpassed in their respective assignments throughout the entire series of unending excitement! Most definitely recommend this compassionately motivated series of ongoing adventures, as you will find yourselves unable to put Lily's never ending escapades aside until the final sentence has been absorbed! You do not have to be a western folklore follow to enjoy riding along with, and enjoy the exploits of this vivacious young lady!!!😃
Up until now, this is the end of the series. With the family united in this homecoming book, I felt so close to the Usshers and their extended family of friends that I wanted more. My husband and I have both completed these books and feel it is one of the best historical western group of stories that we have read recently. There are guns blazing, lives ruined, bad guys taken out, and, new loves found. The 1870s and 1880s were very tough times as land grabs were everywhere; Indians were fought with captives taken; and, settlements were built to house families. I loved these books and hate to see the story-lines end. Thanks to the author for such great writing.
The Ussher family series is a fantastic set of stories of family values. Sam Scott manages to hold your total interest and realizes he doesn't need smut or foul language to tell his stories while doing so. There is not a lot of killing and gunplay involved and the emotions released during Nina's ordeal is enough to make a tough man cry. The funny things Lily and Jude say and do are perfect to keep them a good balance of emotions. Now it's time to begin another of Scott's series.
The Ussher Saga, I hope, will develop into other titles. I enjoyed this series immensely. Couldn't stop, I read the 4 books in the Christmas break. These are well written stories developed in a credible but so tough fashion, as close as we dare imagine to what true events could have been for a great many people establishing the new country. A century and a half later, we can tell mentalities have not evolved all that much. Thank you Mr. Scott.
The entire Ussher Family saga is a beautiful story of love and loss, fear and courage, perseverance and acceptance, and ultimately Joy and Peace. Three volumes, one for each sibling, and the fourth to bring everyone together, brought me to a temporary standstill as, as I relished each volume. Beautifully crafted.
Very good way to end this chapter of the Ushers tale.
I enjoyed the story from book 1 to the end. I especially liked the way the story line flowed from one book to the next and getting to know the family. Thanks Sam for a great and complete saga. I look forward to the next chapter in their lives. Ybor
I have read this series in about 2weeks. This author is remarkable. This series is about 2 men and a girl. He lets them think and act like real people. You can't stop reading. One of the best authors to read. He is a novelist. Thank you Mr. Scott. I am 86 and very much into your writing.
I loved the characters and the adventures of this family, we often forget what our ancestors went through to settle and tame this country, so many hardships. A compelling series.
Finally, I have found a series from the 19 th century that isn't about Cowboys fighting. Lovely story, read all four in succession, and at end of each immediately started the next. I am sorry to part with this family.
These 4 books are well writen and keep you wanting more. Sam Scott has the ability to entertain without all the smut so many use, good reading, look forward to his next book.
Good book good story kept me entertained all day full of ups and downs but always took you to another level, the thoughts of the bad guys getting sorted the other people brothers sisters was lovely ,I await the next book
Loved the whole series! And would seriously love the story of The Ussher Family to continue! Lily & Silas having children! Grady & Helena having twins, would be terrific !
I love a good story, especially ones that make me laugh and cry ,just like this one. I guess one had to be tough to survive in Indian territory but that old saying is true. What doesn't kill you makes one stronger.
what a great series. Loved reading about the Ussher family and how they finally all get together. Wish there was more books on the Usshers. But hey, I found another great series by this author. I plan on reading all of his books. Thank you for a great read!!
The whole series was wonderful. Liked the way the author told each story separately but wound it all together in the last book. Great stories….great series.
This is a great ending to the Issuers family saga. Everyone is together and now their is a bigger family. Great story filled with love, tragedy, redemption.
I read all four books and they are the best books I have read in a long time. I hope Mr Scott writes another book about the Usher family. Looking for more good books.
