A retired detective. A thirty-year-old cold case. A kidnapper with nothing to lose.
When a middle-aged man returns to a small town claiming to be a teenager abducted by a cult thirty years prior, a former detective steps out of retirement to uncover the truth. But picking at old wounds tends to make them bleed.
Robert J Walker combined lots of action and a crew of individuals, both very mature and youths who just happened to get mixed up in the action, to create a book that I had trouble putting down. This is the first book I have read by this author, but I can say he held my interest in his fist and did not let go. If you enjoy reading books with lots of action, this is a good book for you.
Without giving anything away, I figured out the kidnapper about half way through but the reason for it seemed to convoluted to be believed. If you don't have anything better to do then read this but don't let it keep you from doing anything else.
I gave this book five stars because I couldn't put it down. I actually had a suspicion early on, but then I discounted it when I started looking in a different direction.
This book was good enough to finish. I thought the dialog was a bit contrived, and I wouldn't read it again, but, it had possibilities had it not been for the cheesy dialog. Good storyline.
The author and his book get ten stars from me. This storyline was riveting from start to finish. I'm letting friends and family know this is well worth their time to read
Keeps you reading until about half-way through. Then, you can figure out the perps! You'll want to continue to the end to discover the methodology, but the mystery is already solved earlier.
I had high hopes for this book and thought the premise sounded really good.
The story wasn't bad but I found the writing to be a little too dramatic for my taste. The main characters spoke in a way I would expect from an old gangster movie and I found myself wanting to skim to get through it.
I don't think I would read another book in this series.
