It was a time for celebration. A time for the Thanksgiving day parade. A festival of tradition. A time for families to gather around platters, share laughs, regale in memories. But for one town, it became a vile nightmare of blood and unending terror.
From the macabre mind that brought you Sleepover Massacre and Blood Lanes—a new chapter in the Slasherback Series.
A short tale of holiday horror that will shock audiences with its brutal descriptions; its use of blood and vulgar language not suitable for the kids' table.
So while you stuff your bellies, fill your throats, just remember: for one sleepy mountain town, there will be no leftovers this Thanksgiving.
Brian G Berry is new to the world of writing. He writes everything from 1980s inspired horror, SCIFI/Action-horror, to the strange. His biggest influences are the writers of the weird including Lovecraft, Howard, Clark Ashton Smith, to the pulp horror authors of the golden age 70s/80s- and a splattering of others. Author of The Pail, A Bloody Christmas, Splatter Fiend Series, Slasherback Series, Campfire Tales Beneath a Pallid Moon, Accursed Ground, Blood Lanes, The Night Mutilator, Thanksgiving Day Massacre, and his newest: SNOW SHARK.
Someone pass the…good gravy! This was a nonstop gorefest. Deranged, demonic killers descending on their latest small town to feed, recruit, and grow their family. Oh, and did I mention this was all happening on Thanksgiving? That just added to the fun of it all. Berry had a good time, as he usually does with his books, so that’s always thrilling to see. And it makes the quality of the books so much better. So often I see authors trying harder to comply with set literary standards, rather than taking some risks and having fun allowing their stories and characters to organically develop. My only critique here was that the victim count got pretty high. For a town of only 500 people, I’m not sure anyone was left by the end. So I wished that the kills were reduced by a smidge, and more focus was put on our heroic sherrif. Again, nothing drastic, but just a little shift may have kept the story in a more clear direction. But other than that, this was a bloody blast and I may never look at a turkey the same way again.
If you like your holiday horror extreme and stomach churning, then set down to feast on this one. There is one scene that will never leave my brain, no matter how much I'll want it to!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ -Kindle Book (I didn’t hold out much hope for this book, considering the cover makes it look very campy, but it was gruesomely good!!) Trigger Warning: Violence Against Children
Travis The Turkey Masked Man... Also Wants To Be Known As Father,Master was one gruesome gory killer,my God he left no man, woman or child in his path alive...the unborn were not even safe!!! Brian G. Berry has written one awesome read here and holds back on nothing...some real brutal stomach churning scenes which I'm sure will have the dead turning in their grave and leave the living having nightmares!!! I enjoyed this tremendously... HELL...oozed from every chapter...and I liked that a lot. 5 ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ 5🩸🩸🩸🩸🩸 5🔪🔪🔪🔪🔪 And a whole bunch of 🦃🦃🦃🦃🦃🦃🦃🦃🦃🦃 called Travis!!!
So thankful Brian G. Berry realizes our lack of Thanksgiving horror and has gifted us with this 80s slasher novella, THANKSGIVING DAY MASSACRE! It's brutal as hell, full of blood and gore. The kill scenes will please any 80s slasher lover out there for sure. Move over Mr. Owl Mask in Stage Fright; say hello to Mr. Turkey Mask! When Berry says "Massacre" in the title, he means it. This town is absolutely ravaged by a cannibalistic psychopath in a turkey mask. It's unrelenting, unforgiving, and beyond entertaining. It set the mood for the day and has me all kinds of fired up! If you love slasher movies and books, then you will enjoy this one. But don't say you haven't been warned...
"That's not cranberry sauce..." - Todd/Terry, Blood Rage (1987)
My third read from Berry, and this one is absolutely brutal. I loved it, and it was a blast to read the majority of this book on Thanksgiving. Check out this passage, from early in the story:
When he saw what had at one time been a beautiful lady with red hair, cleaved in two halves, her insides on the out, spread across the sticky red ground, buzzing in flies, he screamed again.
I'm looking forward to more of Berry's fiction. Highly recommended!
This book is a massacre. Blood everywhere. Frightening. A terrifying holiday story that will scare away your guests. I'm going to need some time to get these images out of my head.
He promised himself that he would find a place to call his own. And once he did, he could begin to build his family. Plant his own roots. And with this new boy, cold over his shoulder, he would be the first of many to call Travis by his rightful name: Father... Master.

Well, this was awesome fun!! Brutal, bloody, savage, shocking, horrifying fun!! 😁
From viciously brilliant opening scenes, to traumatising and vivid descriptions, descriptions that I will be seeing in my nightmares for a long, long time! One scene in particular almost had me in tears, the imagery got to my little black heart and broke it! 🖤 Right up until the end, this was overflowing with gory goodness, and has left me out of breath and wanting more!
Packed with retro slashery goodness, horror, cannibalism and gore - holy clucking shit this was amazing! This is what Brian does best and I absolutely LOVE it!!
The small town of White Hall is in danger on Thanksgiving as a deranged man named Travis dons a turkey mask and goes on a crazy killing spree. There was a lot going on with this one and so many wild kills throughout. Once again I felt like author Brian G. Berry got a little lazy towards the end, but overall this was a pretty decent read that I finally got around to finishing. (and admittedly would have probably enjoyed more had I read it on Thanksgiving, as originally planned) The blatant nods to Patrick C. Harrison and Adam Beauregard were kinda silly, but I did like the incredibly high body count. Although I'm looking forward to taking a break from this author's work, I will be reading more from him at some point in the future. This gets a 3/5 from me.
I always begrudgingly give an author their due when they can produce a scene that disturbs me so greatly that it takes me out of the story and haunts my thoughts in the course of my daily life. I thought this would be goofy fun of the Monstervision/USA Up All Night variety, but there's a scene involving an oven and a child that would probably win a Gross Out Contest at a horror convention. It so disquieted me that I had to fight to finish the book. I always congratulate an author for evoking this feeling in me, it means they won. Even if I would rather have fun with a book than be disqueted by it.
This title was extremely gruesome and violent! This is the kind of story that truly makes you Thankful for what you have on Thanksgiving and thankful this nightmare doesn't visit your home during the holidays! This was like The Hills Have Eyes or Texas Chainsaw Family invaded a Hallmark movie! I think this character might actually give a guy like Stephen King nightmares.
I love a themed horror book, particularly if it’s holiday themed, and this was no exception. It was fun, gory and just an all around spectacular read for Thanksgiving. You can read about the massacre anytime, of course, but it just added a little spark to my holiday season. One thing I noticed is that the law officials in this town need to take a shooting course, lol.
If you love gore and horror this book is filled with it!! Very gruesome and the descriptions will keep you up at night! Great read and I probably will never look at a turkey again without thinking about this book!!

This was the third installment from the author of the slasher back series, Brian G. Berry, and it did not disappoint.
If you are a fan of Slasher stories, I firstly would like to recommend to you Brian G. Berry's work, especially his Slasherback Series, which has three installments in it so far. I read Blood Lanes, the second in the Slasherback series, which was a great slasher story that took place at a bowling alley. And before you ask, no, you don't have to read these Slasherback stories in any specific order. So, if you want to skip the first two books in the series, or just read them out of order, you can do so.
So, how did I feel about Thanksgiving Day Massacre (Which I will from here on out refer to it as TDM). Well, I thought TDM was a great slasher story! TDM was pretty extreme, and I wouldn't recommend this to people with weak stomachs. But for those like me, whose stomachs are comprised of steel, well, this one challenge your strong stomach.
No one is safe in this unforgiving slasher story, which made it very unclear who was going to come out on top. Since the story was not predictable, like some slasher's can be, it was super fun to read. Like I said, nobody was safe from the Turkey Ripper. From page one you didn't know who was going to come out alive, and the ending may shock you.
The characters were great, the writing was great, and the kills were great! I loved this one and definitely recommend it to anyone looking to read a great slasher!
I give this one Five Blood Drenched Feathers! Great story and Great author!
IF you decide to read this book, prepare yourself for an unrelenting slasher story. My fellow Slasher Aficionados will love this book!
This is definitely a read that once you have read you won't ever forget. Full of the worst brutal violence, blood, gore and terror. A massacre that never ends. Not for the easily offended, squeamish or faint hearted. But all said and done an amazing read. I started this before going to sleep in bed. Usually I'll fall asleep after a few pages, especially as I had just finished a book previous. But I couldn't stop reading. I went from half asleep to wide awake in minutes, thoroughly engrossed and captivated by the story. Something that you could see actually happening and being made aware of safety. A story that shows boogiemen are around. But this boogiemen as sadistic as he is was excited and enthralled by each kill, never seeming to have any boundaries. Will the small town sheriff and his men stop him, or will someone else. You will have to read for yourself. Of course I most definitely recommend but not ideal for easily offended as I said at the beginning.
I recently read Thanksgiving Day Massacre from Brian Berry and I have to say that this has, by far, the most gnarly home invasion scene ever put on paper. I enjoyed this book so much, it was a constant assault of depravity and mayhem, but with a great story. This is my second read from Mr. Berry and I'm loving his tight prose and excellent storytelling, not to mention his wild imagination! If you're looking for some good, splattery fun then check this one out. This book was horrifically insane and I highly recommend it to any fans of extreme horror!
Gobble gobble. Ok, now that THAT is out of the way… WHAT DID I JUST READ. Brian Berry is the one true god of throwback-gory-gross-out-VHS-horror and this book is another shining example of why. There’s so much ooey gooey in this read that I swear to you I had to read it with an apron because all the gore and turkey gravy was ruining t shirt after t shirt. It’s Brian Berry at his most unhinged and feral. The Thanksgiving Massacre is 100+ pages of pure slasher insanity with the backing soundtrack of a Cannibal Corpse record. K thx.
The very first line had me like … okay wtf am I in for I can’t WAIT! And I was not disappointed! We are immediately thrown into the throes of passion and bloodshed and it only snowballs as we go on. The characters are so freaking perfectly written I feel like I know them myself. We have several bloody, gory twisted and incomprehensible (and super detailed) situations thrown at us throughout the entirety of this one and I honestly couldn’t have enjoyed a thanksgiving gorefest more. Definitely, definitely recommend. I haven’t laughed and cringed and questioned my own thoughts this much since reading DEAD INSIDE and PLAYGROUND. Another brilliant 5 star gorefest with a plot! Pick this one up, folks!
Wow, I could barely catch my breath. Brian Berry knocks it out of the park with this Thanksgiving tale. This relentless bloodbath brings back everything we enjoyed about the 80’s slasher movies, and more. An intense and extremely graphic read, this is not intended for the faint of heart. If you do dare to read it, be warned, you’ll never look at Thanksgiving the same way again. Highly recommended for all you gore hounds.
This book was so brutal, and when I say brutal I mean some of these scenes were the most horrific I've ever read which is saying a lot. I absolutely loved it!! When a psychotic man wearing a turkey mask turns Thanksgiving Day into a depraved blood bath the sheriff begins a hunt to find the man before the whole town is brutalized. The kills in this were *chef's kiss* and this book is absolutely my new favorite Brian Berry read. 5/5 turkey skulls 💀
Don’t let this cover fool you . The story is much worse 😅 80’s slasher film meets extreme horror at its finest. You have families,an axe, cannibalism, a knife wielding lunatic and you have 🦃 Day Massacre. This is my first read from Berry and he did not disappoint. This book opens up to extreme torture and only gets worse as you go. It also has an excellent story line that kept me on edge the entire time, I highly recommend to anyone who loves the extreme. 🪓 🔪 🩸 🦃
I'm always wary of books that dedicated to Aaron Beauregard; iykyk. I haven't personally read his stuff yet (I have a few they just haven't hit the rotation yet), but I've heard enough to be on guard when it comes to his books, so a book dedicated to him is almost terrifying in its own right lol. I always have trouble telling Extreme Horror from Splatterpunk, but this book has "wtf did I just read" all in it in bloody, gorey detail. Nothing is off limits. So if you have triggers, don't bother with it. I really liked it though. This novella takes some unexpected twists that had me picking my jaw off the floor. If you're a fan of Splatterpunk and Extreme Horror, I definitely recommend this one.
“Thanksgiving Massacre” is the third and final book of the Slasherback Series.
“Thanksgiving Massacre” is a splatterpunk book that follows a man named Travis who brutally murders a town of celebrating citizens on Thanksgiving Day while wearing a turkey mask. A police officer tries to catch Travis in a game of cat and mouse.
This was my personal favorite book in the Slasherback Series. Brian Berry amped up the gore in this book—something I really appreciated being a horror genre lover. The descriptions were disgusting, brutal, and descriptive—all of which added to my enjoyment of reading this book.
I am excited to check out more series from Brian Berry!
troll, disturbing, typos, badly written, kinda funny sometimes but not intentionally, triggering parts that were not necessary, obviously written by a man, you’re not missing out on anything if you don’t read it, you get what you came for with this concept though lol
